The plans for my future were set. Get a job, save money, and get out. It wasn't hard. All I had to do was suffer in silence a bit longer, keep my head down, and stay the course.
Too bad life is anything but predictable. I couldn't plan on my new co-worker turning my life into chaos. He's brooding, arrogant, and off-limits.
Oh, and did I mention he's the CEO's son?
The chemistry we share is binding; giving in to my feelings would spell disaster, and I need this job. Now, I must figure out how to bury these treacherous feelings before they jeopardize everything.
So, I should be all in when my longtime crush and best friend decides he's ready to take our relationship to the next level. He was always the future I wanted, the end that made sense. All this time, I was only waiting for him to realize it.
But it's just my luck that even the best-laid plans can turn to crap. There's no way forward that doesn't end without pain. I should have known there's no true escape for the girl who comes from nothing. All that comes from nothing is heartache.
This is a box set of the previously published titles Say You Promise and Say It's Me.
L.A. Ferro has had a love for storytelling her entire life. For as long as she can remember she put herself to sleep plotting stories in her head. That thirst for a good tale led her to books where she became an avid reader.
The unapologetically dramatic characters, steamy scenes, and happily ever afters found inside the pages of romance novels irrevocably transformed her. The world of romance ran away with her heart, and she knew her passion for love would be her craft.
When she’s not trailing after one of her three crazy kids, she loves to construct messy ‘happily ever afters’ that take her readers on a journey full of angst, lust, and obsession with page-turning enchantment.
Chasing her literary dreams, she hopes to captivate her readers with the stories that have lived rent-free in her mind for years. As an avid reader, dominant alpha males and feisty heroines have always stolen her heart and she is optimistic her books will bring the same amount of heart and heat that inspired her.
It felt like I was reading a wattpad story in High school again.
So many characters are introduced that you don’t even actually meet. She just keeps mentioning these people that are apparently her best friends. Wild.
I like the beginning of this book a lot, but it went from 0 to 100 real quick. I honestly immediately thought of Wattpad 2017. It’s like how they thought the book needed more so they add the biggest bomb but the bomb ends up being a firecracker that doesn’t give off the same energy. I mean come on the beginning was perfect and everything was lined up but then we’ve got secrets, kidnapping, killings? I mean don’t get me wrong I love those types of books but to me this would have been perfect if they continued the story as it seemed like at the beginning. Also why add an extra romantic partner? I did enjoy the book just a bit too much like I was in bedroom in middle school reading a book I shouldn’t. And not in a it’s so dirty way like in a what type of sun genre do I put you under and where does it really piece together?
Spice: 1/5 (trust me we got some good smut but I’ve read worse) Trope: forbidden lover, love triangle, and a tiny smidge of enemies to lovers Warning: sexual content, violence, murder, talk of drug abuse, kidnapping, drugging Favorite Character: Ethan I mean come on he may have been a bad guy at one point but all he wanted was a family in the end so cute. Favorite Quote: “I’m not fucking around when it comes to her, and I’ll watch everything burn if that means she’s mine. No one will take her from me.” Page 178

Wow!! Just wow!!! This story is just impeccable! I have never had a story make me feel like it was written about my life As close as this one follows My own life journey. But talk about an incredible Book!
I literally had every single emotion know (all in a very good way) to exist && seriously could or put this book down! It was a “read in one sitting” Book for me and I will forever hold this duet close Close To My heart!
Thank you LA for sharing these words and making us feel like we are not alone! Love this book! Adore you and your writing is just a masterpiece 🤍
I really wanted this book to work out in the end and it continued to be a trainwreck until the last page. I think the last 100 pages was truly just me rereading the same information over and over from different characters POVs. Also, how can you lead this many guys on at once, and how can this many guys confess their love for you. Truly should’ve DNF’d it but was more interested in the side characters’ potentially development, which did not happen. Wish I did not see this as a recommendation on Instagram but here we are.
When love makes you see and do things you don't normally do. Gigi is a girl who has fought her way to where she is now and isn't done fighting. When she lands a full time job at a place she works at she is determined to make it work. Until she runs in to August and he puts a twist in her plan. August is a man who just wants a normal life. No expectations from his parents and society. Growing being the only son he was groomed to take over the family business, but he doesn't want that. He wants more so when he is forced to go to training at the company he will take over he finds a beautiful girl that shakes up not only the training but life. Can Gigi finally find her happiness after life being so dark. Can August become the independent person he want?? Well add in a murder plot and a twist and maybe
Okay I had to DNF this one. I was on chapter two which is from the point of view of the male character August and MAN this is not how recently graduated college boys talk. I can't even explain the way they were talking to each other but having two brothers and 5 uncles, and being around a lot of guys growing up... this is not how they speak to each other. It was just very strange. As well as Augusts inner monologue. Which for both characters seemed to go on forever! I am okay with detail if it adds to the story but this just seemed a way for the author to get their word count in. It's a lot of telling instead of showing. We don't see Gigi's home life, we're told. We don't see August and his friends getting a lot of women, we're told. Also the first interaction we have of August with a woman he's just an asshole. She introduces herself and he says "I hate when women come on to me." Uhhh what. If you're thinking Jackie clearly you left something out I can assure you I did not. She introduces her self and he thinks she's hitting on him. But then he gives her a pass because she's gorgeous and he would definitely be interested under different circumstances. It's all just a very weird moment and inner monologue that I stopped there. I wasn't willing to stick around for more of... that. And even if he does get better I'm not willing to push through a book that has me annoyed and rolling my eyes at only 4% in.
Review: I loved this book. This book follows Gianna and August. Gianna is starting a new job and another new co-worker catching her attention. That new co-worker is the CEO’s son August. But he is off limits. So when Gianna’s longtime crush/best friend confess that they are ready to take the relationship to the next level. She should be all in but August turns her world upside down. I loved the storyline and the banter. I loved the character development im this book.I did not expect the plot twists in this book. I loved the mix of romance and mystery. I did not want to put this book down.

DNF This is the second book I’ve attempted to read by this author. Same issues as the previous book, it just rambles on and on and on and on. I disliked both characters and the way they talked from the very beginning.
I know reviews have said that this author doesn’t give anything detail wise to the plots of the books but that doesn’t mean to just say a bunch of nothing to hit a word count.
Example for future self: “my phone pings with a text message from Carson”… then the next chapter it says the text from Carson… with her name at the top… next time just write “my phone pings” and then show the text? lol idk why it bugged me so much but it did

LA is back with another swoon-worthy love story with her signature addition of family/romanitc/friendship twists and secrets! Similar to her hits “Salt,” “Dig,” and “Fade” you have to read all the way to the end to unravel all the intertwined threads of past and future between the characters!
As a self-proclaimed slow reader, ebooks always suck me in and demand I read until I know more. The delicious spice doesn’t hurt either!!!!
Oh this was so good! The plot, the characters!! August was obsessed with gianna the minute he saw her! I felt bad for mason, I think he truly loved Gigi but took it for granted. I wouldn’t have minded a why choose but the way August was so possessive and protective of Gigi, it wouldn’t go right, I hope mason finds someone and I’ll read it!

2.5 ⭐️⭐️ actually, I was able to follow the story line for the most part but with the shift to different POVs at certain points they were telling pieces of things that you didn’t know about until your read someone elses pov several chapters later. For sure kept me on the edge of my seat.
I wish I could give this book 0 stars… August is the most insufferable character i’ve ever read about. Why have one plot when you can constantly change it! Worst book ever
It took awhile to get into and I struggled with the main character- but I am so glad I pushed through- at about the 50% point it really took off. I thought it was worth the wait.
This is an easy read. I wanted a book I could read without having my soul destroyed and was just an easy read and I didn’t have to think about.
The storyline is ok the characters are ok. It does have alot of spice which isn’t what I normally read so if your into spicy this would be good for you.
