Having been sold by Russell to Fatbar's Albanian connections, Tianna is being forced to sell her body for pennies on the dollar. Placed in this dire situation, getting back to America is a must. However, with no passport or anything deeming her an American citizen, making it back doesn't seem possible until an acquaintance from the brothel gets pregnant. She and her child’s father come up with a plan to escape to America, and bring Tianna with them. Will they make it to America unharmed, or will a series of unfortunate events prevent them from doing so? Under the watchful eye of the Feds, Russell begins revamping his business in order to make money and stay out of jail. Believing he has killed off everyone capable of identifying him during trial, he is seemingly walking on water...when a murder and paranoia unlocks the demons of his past. Nakia and her baby are in the hospital fighting for their lives when Fatbar gets a call that sends him into an unfortunate medical emergency, landing him in the same hospital. Playing ping-pong with his time between their rooms, Raphael discovers the truth as to why Nakia was ambushed, igniting an inner family war. Return to the gritty streets of Detroit in this tailspin sequel of after effects when you become The State’s Witness.
I'm so sick of these cliffhangers!!! The only good thing is the last book is already waiting for me. Yes, this book was just as good. Y'all just read the damn book.
Well now we know why Russell manipulates, controls and abuses women. I guess it's easier to take out his anger on others than to seek treatment for his many problems. This story is realistic in the sense that it shows hurt people, hurt people and people that have been sexually abused become so devalued they only continue to do what they know. This story is sad, but good. There's so many entanglements and not even family is safe when things go awry. I'm disappointed that part 3 is not available - I wouldn't have started this series had I known all installments weren't released.
Kyiris did her thing with Part 2!! I just knew Fatbar had everything taken care of!! I was so hurt with what transpired. I was glad to get an update on Tiana in part 2. I just hope her decisions don’t lead her back down the path she worked so hard to get out of. This book ended leaving me wondering what direction Raphael and Nakia’s relationship will go in. I’m not sure this is a situation they can come back from. Definitely ready to see where this all goes in Part 3.
Now this book was so good that I could not stop reading once I started! Can you say PLOT TWIST!! It seemed like just when I thought I knew something was going to happen.. boom another direction you went and I love that in A story! If you are looking for your next read that’s gonna leave you wanting to read more then this is the one for you! I can’t wait to see what’s in store next for these characters.
Dayum... just dayum... all of the twists that this story took. Then the ending though!! Had my heart rate going because why him? A war had definitely been start and once the battle is over, no one will ever be the same. Patiently waiting on book 3.
I enjoyed reading this series because it probably the most semi realistic prostitution story I’ve ever read. I enjoyed the cat and mouse game towards the end the most. I do feel that some of the povs were not needed but it was still a good story
OMFG…my heart is broken. i’m immediately reading the next book, i’m so scared about how this going to end..crying at 3:00 in the morning wasn’t the plan. wow. just wow. 😟
