Jessie is desperate for a job to help pay off his mother’s medical bills, and he’s not above lying to get one.
When he lands the personal assistant job at North Industries under the mistaken identity of being a woman, he can’t bring himself to tell the truth. Jessie isn’t ashamed of crossdressing, but if the predominantly male corporation has a problem with it, he’s more than happy to fib a little to bring home a paycheck.
He never expected to start falling for his boss.
Years of being a Dragon with a knack for finding trouble have left Lazuli jaded and his people skills are rusty, at best.
But when the son of an old friend asks him to find out why his remote office is performing below standard, he takes it on reluctantly. This is to be his last job before he retires for good, even if the thrill of the hunt has begun to return. However, moments after stepping through the door, Lazuli can feel there is more for him here than he would have ever guessed.
He never expected to find his mate here. Or for them to be a woman.
Or for Jessie’s touch to be bliss while she smells of nothing but deception?
Cute cover and attractive blurb that promised a lot of good things. Well, they weren’t quite THAT good but it was enjoyable enough. I was also smacked in the face with the fact that it was pnr even though the blurb mentioned very clearly a DRAGON .My mind didn’t register that apparently lol This is a cute and very sweet pnr book with a poor femme guy and a marshmallow big bad and rich dragon . It’s silly and a bit OTT and it has a few grammar and vocabulary mistakes here and there but I enjoyed it . The dragon is OTT growly protective and sappy and the femme PA guy is sweet . There’s also a snake and some homophobia and the side characters (the mom , the work friend and the other dragons) were entertaining . I recommend it if you feel like putting your mind on hold to enjoy an apple-candy sweet fated mates book .
I'm not sure how I stumbled upon this book as I wasn't familiar with this author, but I'm glad I did. I didn't realize it was a shifter story at the time of starting it and I almost didn't read it when I realized that. Shifters is not my typical read, but I was curious so I dove in. Really solid story of an older dragon shifter (Laz) and a young man (Jessie) who dresses as a woman (although he still identifies as a man). Jessie needs a good job to support his mom who has cancer. Jobs in the past have been a problem for him because of how he dresses. Laz is hired to a law firm to find out who the mole in the organization is and Jessie is hired as his assistant. Laz is surprised when he meets Jessie and realizes he is his mate.
I do wish Laz was a bit more alpha or possessive. There were a few times when I found myself thinking wouldn't a dragon shifter be more explosive here? or more possessive? But overall, a great read.
There are elements to this, like Jessie, that I really liked and elements I hated, like Mr. Nest. Despite how heavy handedly this was written to tell all the main plot-points, I find myself mostly unmoved. All of the story elements are laid out quickly then drawn out in a way that feels so much longer than 179 pages. There's a mad rush to stuff in some vital scenes for the end of the story, but I'm already checked out by around 75%. There are no grammar issues that I noticed, I just failed to connect with the story. It felt flat and without real pacing or content to spike interest. Jessie and Lazuli do the instalove thing so early in the story but with so many more pages to read before there's any payoff for their mutual feelings. For me, it just plods along and I'm glad to be done with it.
Lazuli’s Alpha has a job for him. He needs to find a mole in the office. His new PA, Jessie is making it hard for him to do his work. He can’t concentrate and the vibes that Jessie is giving off are very confusing. When they meet, Lazuli instantly knows Jessie is his mate.
With rampant lies running around the office and a case of mistaken identity, it takes Lazuli longer than necessary to find the mole.
While I did enjoy the book, there were a few things I had issues with; mostly the fact that the office ID was not truthful.
This was such a wonderful book. Sweet and spicy, well written, with great characters. Laz and Jessie were well developed and even the side characters felt real and got me invested. The dialogue was the best part though - natural and flowed well, with a lovely dash of humour.
This was a good story. I enjoyed the characters Laz and Jess, were great. I want more Willow. something was missing and I don't know what. Its left me wanting more, maybe its because there are other books related to this I haven't read
A loving son who works to pay his mothers medical bills, and loves all things femme often being mistaken for a women, and a dragon shifter asked to find the mole for his clans Alpha meet at the office...its an instant attraction...a fated mate kind of thing...but they both have secrets...
