The sequel to the 2023 Godless 666 Awards Best Novel.
The book you are about to read is an account of the events that occurred at the derelict Franklin's Fun Castle. A once wholesome venue for family entertainment - now an abandoned, sullied ruin. Someone made a home there, escaping the chaos and carnage of Bonkin's Bonanza, Stacey the Clown, and people are looking for her.
Like Leigh, seeking to cure and reunite the lost child with her family, or Otis, an intrepid crime reporter desperate for a story. Together with others, in the wrong place at the wrong time, they wouldn't find redemption, fame, or whimsical merriment.
They would find blood-soaked torment brought to life from the twisted nightmares of a child. One few, if any, would wake from. One that came to be known as The Cotton Candy Part Toots .
Christopher Robertson writes cinematic pulp fiction that's often described as both wholesome and gruesome, sometimes in the same sentence. He won both the Gold award for Best Novel and Silver for Best Audiobook at the 2023 Godless 666 Awards.
I loved this even more then the first one. Intense, gory, insane but also emotional. I was hooked on the story and how it wad done. The end had me wanting to read more from this series. I hope there is or will be a book 3.
All hail the goblin queen Stacey! If you have read the The Cotton Candy Massacre then I feel I am preaching to the converted with this review, (if you haven't you NEED too) this is just as incredible if not more as the first book, I love the fade to's and the credit rolls which make it feel like a 80/90s horror movie playing out in your head, Christophers writing is utterly unique, the characters and the witty dialogue are just *aggresive chefs kiss* , I am just obsessed with these books! 🤡
Book 8 of my July-August TBR mountain complete. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 to The Cotton Candy Massacre: Part Toots by Christopher Robertson.
How do you write a sequel to The Cotton Candy Massacre? A book that is epic in every sense of the word, from its bonkers events to its gregarious characters. You go for the emotional jugular is what you do and that’s what Christopher achieves here. Part Toots takes the reader on Leigh’s emotional journey as she deals with the guilt of having not just lost friends but feeling responsible for them losing their lives.
Robertson mines into Leigh’s journey here as she attempts to save a friends sister from being a murderous wereclown. Adding in a new array of characters and some unique set pieces that reminded me of a deadly Gladiators from the 90s Robertson delivers gruesome horror, heart and laughs. I do think this is his most brutal book to date, at least, in terms of body horror. There’s things that happen with a screwdriver that I shudder to think about it. And it ends not just with a confirmation that there will a third instalment in the series but also another, separate story from Robertson is coming soon.
i sold my soul to the author for an arc of this book and holy shit it was SO worth it.
i don’t think i have ever been so excited to be back in a fictional world than i was for CCM2. it picked up where book 1 left off and filled in the gaps for what happened right after the escape. i really enjoyed this book focusing on some of the same characters and continuing their character arcs. i think my favorite part of the book though was the addition of the clown dogs and the setting. i am alllllllll about a creepy setting and there is something very unnerving and goosebump inducing about a dilapidated fun house. if you’re obsessed with the 80s horror movie vibe, creepy clowns, and more gore than a saw movie this is definitely the series for you.
I'm obsessed with the way Robertson writes. The way I feel like I'm in the front row watching the chaos of this book unfold, LOVED IT. Such an incredible atmospheric read with growth for characters that carried over from part one and new characters that fit right into the plot and that you can connect with.
Stacy, and her crazy clown pups, really brought the savagery! Leigh is still being the baddie she has always been. I was disturbed and horrified in the most fun ways AY-YUP.
Another slasher film vibe, full of gore .... and fun.
Let’s fade in to this super fun sequel to The Cotton Candy Massacre… Part Toots! Haven’t read the first book? Well, I highly encourage you to change that and grab yourself a copy now. As a clown fanatic I can say with confidence that these books are my favorite in Clown Horror.
I’m usually a little wary when it comes to sequels because sometimes the magic of the first book can grow dim in the next one - BUT the magic only glowed brighter in the form of clown dogs, games and obstacle courses from hell with a cute yet menacing little clown girl named Stacey who puts the “fun” in “dysfunctional”.
This isn’t pure mayhem and carnage as the first book is, but instead focuses on a single clown who escaped from Bonkin’s Bonanza and makes a new home in an abandoned Fun House with people she’s captured to participate in her twisted games. I was hooked from the beginning and really enjoyed the pacing of the story along with all the characters. Leah is a witty and badass MC who the reader emotionally connects with through her willpower and resilience. I’m glad she’s a returning character because she was my favorite from the first book. I can’t forget to mention Bonezo, Peaches and Cream! These aggressive and silly looking clown dogs stole the show for me and were the perfect evil companions to Stacey.
“Cut to” an overall entertaining novel that blends horror and humor seamlessly. If clowns are your thing, you NEED to read these books. Horror, Fun and Gore Galore! I won’t be able to look at a screwdriver without thinking of this book (IYKYK). Go read this book!
This is part toots of the Cotton Candy Massacre. Leigh is determined to bring Stacey home to her family. It seems like an easy task until she finds out she taken up in a abandoned fun house.
The Cotton Candy Massacre is still superior, the book made me sick to where I needed to stop reading it but this is a close second.
This doesn’t have as much shock gore as the first one but it is still amazing!! That does not mean it doesn’t have shock gore because oh it does! Stacey is a crazy clown!
This is such a great story and you can feel all the 80s nostalgia.
Now can we talk about how gorgeous both book covers are! I can not wait for Part Treats!
First, I must say I received this book as an ARC. This is my honest opinion. Damn! This book! It literally is just 🤌 *chefs kiss* 🤌 like I expected anything less from this author? 🤷♀️🙂 It's a buffet of killer clown mayhem, stabby stabby gore, and family love set in a fun house from hell! Want a psycho killer clown kid? ✔️ Want scary clown dogs? ✔️ Want arcade games with horrible rewards if you win or lose?✔️ Want a pervert that preys on kids getting his just deserts? ✔️ Then you need this book! It's not on the same level of crazy as the first one, but it's still just as gripping. This author has talent! He actually had me rooting for the psycho killer clown girl!
Do check your triggers! If you're not into graphic violence, then tread lightly. He does have a list of triggers at the beginning of the book, which is awesome!
Slight Spoilers below!
There is a child predator in this book. Nothing graphic happens on page aside from his thoughts, but it's made clear what he is and wants to do. I do like how there are more survivors in this one! I didn't mind all the gore and death from the first one, and I was expecting the same from this one, but I was surprised with the slightly higher survival rate, haha
I hope you have as much fun as I did with this read! Happy stabbing!... I mean reading! 🤡🔪
Firstly I would like to thank the author for my ARC copy of this awesome sequel. After reading the cotton candy massacre and absolutely loving the movie scene style of writing & 80s style feel I was not disappointed when it came to part toots this sequel is a perfect continuation from the first book. We see the aftermath of what happened after TCCM and we follow Leigh (my favourite character) as she looks for Stacey, which takes us to Franklins fun castle where we meet new characters and some wild fun. Don’t want to give to much away but as always Mr Robertson takes us ona fun adventure with part toots and Leigh’s cracks are funny as always and I got teary towards the end too. Loved seeing the bonus drawings as well and the ending left me hanging wanting more more more!! I absolutely love this series and can’t wait to see what happens next.
Okay seriously… was this really the sequel to the amazing Cotton Candy Massacre??? Really???????
The first book had so much going on with a dynamic set of characters and a plot that never died down. This book however… like… really?!?! This whole book could have been 2 chapters from the original.
There was only one main character (that was actually developed at least), a goofy plot that took away any horror elements of this book, and underwhelming scenes in every chapter.
The writing was still good in a quirky way but the story was so small scaled to the first and I laughed several times thinking “Really? This is the sequel???”
Not the worse book I read by any means, but my most disappointing read of the year, considering how epic book 1 was. Such a dip in quality to the point where it hurts the original.
I didn't think Robertson could top what he did with "The Cotton Candy Massacre" [which, if you haven't read, what are you even doing with your life?], but this...wow Let me say - you thought the first book was a gory trip, you haven't seen anything! More sadistic clowns, creepy ass kiddos, and so much more! And don't get me started on the dogs... talk about a nightmare from the depths of my own worst fears!! The 80s vibes and the movie feel of the writing is back in full force and is beyond incredible once more! If you've read book one, PLEASE do yourself a favor and pick up this one!
Christopher Robertson is this adorable Raccoon of a human being; he’s also pretty good at writing. Part Toots is a blast. This one is a little more enclosed than the first, and honestly I loved that about this sequel. Sequels have this weird tendency to try to go bigger than the last instead of just telling a story; Robertson didn’t make that mistake. This feels more like the Alien to TCCM’s Aliens and I thoroughly loved every page of it. Now, that’s not to say this book isn’t just as batcrap crazy, because it absolutely is, this one just feels a bit more intimate. Come for more Sally, stay for her three… just find out. K thx.
"Nobody truly knows who they are, only the fiction we present to the world. We tell ourselves that's who we are, but what about the lies beneath?"
Holy shit!! This one is far more brutal than the first and I am here for it!! Absolutely love this freaky fucked up world Robertson has created and cannot wait for more!
So F-F-F- Fuckiin fun!!! Leigh is a badass, Stacy and her pups are savage (better watch those SWEARS), and I want to have a Footloose dance off part with her right now. I cannot wait for Part Treats!!
Great to be back in the wacky and kind of terrifying world of The Cotton Candy Massacre. I really recommend getting into these books, especially if you love horror!
Omg it was so much fun to be back in the world of these fun characters and these demented clowns. I’m sooooooooo obsessed with these crazy clowns and the way you darkly root for them (just a little bit and NOT all of them).
This story was also very sweet in an INSANE way.
I felt sick and horrified in the best way and it was sooo muchhhhh fun! Mr. Robertson knows how to create a story full of gore, but in a playful and fun way... imagine a slasher film that is so ridiculous that you can't help but look.
I love this author so much because he has the power to disgust me and make me say awwwww at the same time.
Stacy was FREAKING nuts, but I loved her.
I can’t wait to see what this author has for me next lol
The sequel to the cotton candy massacre. The sequel picks up where the first one ended and Leigh is going back to find Stacey! I enjoyed this book even more than the first one and can’t wait for the third: Part treats!
It continues on from the first one perfectly! TCCM Part Toots brings back well-loved characters as well as new ones... Including some crazy clown dogs! 🐶
It includes just as much chaos, gore and humour as the first one. It had me feeling all kinds of emotions and I did well up towards the end as the character development is strong, you become attached to the characters.
I am always recommending TCCM, and I recommend it even more after such a intense sequel has now became available.
F-f-f-fucking phenomenal and that's the toot tootin' truth!
A mind-blowing sequel that is just as insane, bloody and funny as its predecessor! Robertson is THE master of making horror fun and yet again showcases some of the most creative kills I've ever encountered.
Leigh and Stacey are some of the most compelling characters I've read & I'm absolutely DYING for Part Treats!!
Christopher did it yet again! He took me to a place that I didn't want to leave or for it to end. Cotton Candy Massacre is something I bought and started reading during a course I was working last year that didn't need much of my attention, I immediately became sucked into it and didn't want to put it down. When I finished the first book, I was bummed and wanted more, and it sure was delivered by Part Toots. It was great to follow Stacey and Leigh again and watch the clown madness unfold. After reading the Post Credits, I'll be impatiently waiting for more yet again!
I loved this read, it was entertaining. Filled with horror and emotions of all kinds. Constant action from beginning to end. The characters are strong willed and crazy! What clowns arent , but Stacey is one strong and defiant clown that has her own agenda. However Leigh has other ideas and along with some new friends begin a trip to help recover the personal devastation and promise from Bonkins Funhouse in the previous read. A great and inspiring read, with great characters. Nice and easy to read and keep you enthralled. Definitely recommend.
If you've read 'The Cotton Candy Massacre' then you know exactly what you're getting from this, Psycho clowns and messed up situations. What you also get from these books are a lot of heart. I had a great time jumping back into the (as the author @kit_romero put it, in the credits) candy-coated insanity and revisiting some beloved characters and a whole host of new ones. I love how this series is so uniquely written and structured. This wasn't quite what the first book was but when you set the bar that high you can only fall short😂.
Following on from TCCM, we head to Franklin's Fun Castle, where the chaotic consequences of what happened at Bonkin's awaits. Returning faces, new friends and threats, and out of control, cotton candy infused clowns all await... . I read this today. All of it. Front to back. Just over 3 hours by my estimate. It's a decent outing and is another reason why Robertson is one of the indie horror scenes best. TCCM:PT is nuts but in a good way. Humour, horror, heart, screwdrivers, cotton candy, dogs, truckers, romance, trauma, ogres, true crime, plot twists!!! and more combine in this outing. It's a little over 200 pages so easily to devour. Stacey and Leigh are such strong leads in this outing and they really do drive the story nicely. The supporting case were good but I do wish we had more from them. That and I wish we had more from Franklin's in the beginning. 4.5 feels fair to me.
Absolutely awesome read. So much fun and some parts oddly relatable as being an older sister to a goblin queen. Everything you want in a killer clown book imo!!
I couldn't put this book down, I love how this series felt like an 80s movie. Everything from the storytelling to the artwork is beautiful. I love my gore books, but I really love how this book series can add a little of everything. There's characters you'll feel attached to, lovers you'll root for, sadness for certain deaths, happy for some character redemption on a FEW people, and of course gore, with a dash of cannibal clowns🤡🎪🎡
🎃Mini spoiler: I got nervous for Leigh when she was in the cage with hannah after she asked about sully. But I think we all would've done what Leigh did in the first book if we saw a crazy clown eating our best friend.😅
🎃favorite quote: “You said it brings out what’s buried deep. Are we all monsters inside?”
More clowns, more gore, more carnage…this splatter-filled sequel is a cracking follow up to the original that expands and continues the story without simply treading over old ground again. Some staggering and squelchy deaths here, a mountain of mouldy pizza and dog poo to wade through, and a bonkers story that moves at pace.
