Bright Midnights

Rate this book
Amelie has always been different. Most high school students find life challenging, but 17-year old Amelie has a lot more to contend with than typical teenage angst. Ever since she turned 11, others have been irresistibly drawn to her-with tragic consequences. Her only escape is at night when she flies to different times and places through her "dreams". Her life begins to change when, on one of her flights, she meets Clovis, an alluring and mysterious young man who hides a secret. As Amelie finds herself increasingly drawn to him , she learns his story, how it intertwines with her own and finally discovers how to live her life in the real world. Until her own secrets are revealed to the wrong people and that world turns upside down. Bright Midnights is the second in the Limerent Series and continues in the thought-provoking and beautiful style of the first as it considers different dimensions, different ways of looking at the world, and the transcendental power of love.

Lexy Delorme was born in San Diego, California. After graduating from the University of North Carolina School of law, various internships and years working in risk, tax, family, and international law, she now classifies herself as a recovering attorney.

With a father who served in the US Military, Lexy had a wandering lifestyle from her earliest days and in her time has been a pop musician, a science geek and a writer for magazines like Bonjour Paris and Playtimes. Throughout all of her different careers, her love of fiction has been a mainstay.

Within this eclectic life, she was also one of the first employees at 23andMe, a genomics and biotechnology company based in Mountain View, California and that experience influenced the genetic aspects of her Limerent Series, of which Caio is the first book.

For as long as she can remember she’s had characters in her head. As a child, these were the friends she wished to have. As a young woman, the lovers she wanted to find or the people she wanted to become. Writing fiction novels allows her the chance to give these characters a background, a story and a voice.

Having lived in in 3 continents, 9 US states, and 21 cities around the world, including London and Hong Kong, Lexy now lives in Paris with her French husband and two very cool sons. She is currently working on the next books in the Limerent Series.

I adored Fanning Fireflies and was extremely lucky when L S Delorme offered to send her other two books in the series for me to review. I loved Ciao (the first in the series) and I have to say Bright Midnights is another fantastic instalment.

The first thing I love about this series is while there is a thread of connection each book can be read standalone and enjoyed as such. The second is the writing and characters. Delorme’s writing is beautiful. It’s easy to read and absorb but so beautifully crafted. Some passages you can’t help but get a vivid image in your head of what the characters are experiencing. The characters themselves are always fantastic, fleshed out and believable even within the paranormal setting. I was biased to Amelia since she shared my last name but I loved her almost instantly. Clovis is also a dream (pun intended) character. Hanson is fantastic too and even those who are NOT nice characters are believable, looking at Jack.

The other thing Delorme does fantastically well is deal with dark topics and do it with a lot of realism but a lot of care. From Sexual Abuse and Assault to physical and domestic violence we see the full spectrum of human behaviour. Now I read a lot of horror and sometimes you can feel like an author uses something like that to shock the reader but with Delorme it’s done in a way that while it does stick with the reader it showcases just what humans are capable of to each other.

Finally the plot is absolutely fantastic. I don’t like spoilers but the idea of escaping through dreams and into stories, as a literature graduate and general book lover was amazing. I adored the sense of mystery and danger that was also laced throughout on those who would hunt down Amelia for her powers and what or who Clovis is. There are so many little threads throughout and it makes for an amazing read, especially when they are all woven together so neatly.

I could go on and on but I will say if you love paranormal novels and enjoy ones that tackle serious subjects. This series is for you.

As always thank you to Literally PR and L S Delorme for the copy to review. My review is always honest and truthful.

I actually loved this book so much! It’s a very different and unique piece than is just so original and really well put together. I’m not usually into paranormal reads but this has converted me to the genre for sure. Please however if you do read this, make sure you 100% take the trigger warnings into account as it is a dark read and the warnings shouldn’t be taken lightly. I was actually completely fascinated with the way she’s brought mythic creatures to life and made a whole world around them. Even as google search these creatures you can tell the author has really took the time to get as much information associated with the history on these creatures and really brought it to life through a really intense and interesting way. The behaviour and characteristics is right on point and I really appreciate the effort she’s went through to write this. The story was so gripping and you’re heavily invested in the characters. It’s such an intense read as well, you really don’t know where the story is going to go or how things will end up but it is an incredible piece of work and some interesting mythical history put together to make a really fascinating paranormal read based on the darkest moments of the mind, life and love of a woman and the nature of an Incubi. I can’t wait to read more from this series. It has me absolutely obsessed!

OH MY GOD, THIS BOOK😭 Bright Midnights is a beautifully written, hugely emotional book that I know I will be thinking of for a very long time. Delorme’s writing style is so poetic, there are parts so vivid you can almost feel yourself slipping between dreams with the characters.

What really impressed me was the way Delorme wrote about heavy topics. They’re written with such care and gravity.

The pacing is steady, and the plot is incredible for building that creeping tension. There were a few moments I wished were slightly bigger, but overall, the story kept me hooked.

This was my first L.S. Delorme novel and it definitely won’t be my last🩷

Thank you so much to L S Delorme and
Love Books Tours for having me on this book tour. I am so grateful ✨🫶🏻

I absolutely flew through this book. It was so much darker than the first and so it ticked all of the boxes in my dark fantasy loving heart.

Amelie is a character who has had to play a role to fit in and keep a low profile for most of her life but when she meets Clovis she definitely starts to come into her own. I'm glad that Amelie doesn't just accept all that is going on and questions things and is totally confused because that made her reaction more real.

This book had so many elements to it but it is easy to follow and understand. I loved that we got to see different dark forces in play and im hoping these are explored in the next books in the series.

L.S. Delorme's "Bright Midnights," book two of The Limerent Series, is a captivating and interesting blend of paranormal romance and urban fantasy. The tale centers on Amelie, a 17 year old who possesses a strange, almost dangerous, appeal that draws individuals to her. Her only true relief is found in her vivid dreams, where she has the ability to travel through parallel realities.

The story truly takes flight when Amelie encounters the enigmatic Clovis on one of these dream journeys. The connection between them is palpable, yet fraught with danger and secrets and the intricacies of their shared pasts. The author skillfully weaves a tale of love, obsession, and the struggle for normalcy in the wake of extraordinary circumstances.

While the book works as a standalone, there's no denying that reading the first in the series adds to the experience. With its innovative plot, well-developed characters, and winning mix of magic, mystery, and slow-burn romance, "Bright Midnights" is a page-turner for fans of emotionally resonant YA fantasy.

Bright Midnights by L.S. Delorme.
Book 2 of the Limerent Series.
This was a really good read. I loved the cover and blurb of this book. I couldn't put it down. The story flowed perfectly. I loved how it could see everything happening in my head like a movie. I did like Amelia and Clovis. Very well written. I loved everything about this book. The only thing I didn't like was Rose. She was not nice. I do hope there is more to come. I do recommend this series.

"Bright Midnights" introduces us to a unique protagonist who struggles with a burden that sets her apart from her peers. The book starts by highlighting the challenges faced by most high school students, but quickly reveals that Amelie's experiences go beyond the typical teenage angst.

The concept of Amelie being irresistibly drawn to others and the tragic consequences that follow is intriguing, immediately capturing the reader's attention. The idea of her finding solace in her dreams, where she can escape and explore different times and places, adds an element of fantasy to the story.

The introduction of Clovis, a mysterious young man with a hidden secret, introduces a romantic subplot that further piques the reader's interest. The promise of learning about Clovis's story and how it connects to Amelie's own is enticing, offering potential for both character development and plot twists.

The mention of Amelie's secrets being revealed to the wrong people adds a sense of foreboding and raises the stakes, suggesting that her world will be turned upside down. This creates anticipation in the reader, eager to see how these secrets will impact the story and the characters involved.

Overall, the book presents an enticing premise with intriguing characters and enough mystery to keep readers engaged. The concept of escaping through dreams and the promise of secret revelations add depth to the story, making it a compelling read and a solid 4 stars!

This book is the second in the series, however, I read it as a standalone. I really enjoyed the storyline of this book, and thought the premise of Amelie’s ‘powers’ were really cool! I overall really enjoyed this book, I think I may need to purchase the first in the series! I liked Amelie as a character and getting to see her grow as a character. I can’t wait for the next one!

Urban Fantasy always has me come a calling! I'm not sure why, but I love a story set in our world with fantastical elements - maybe it just makes me feel like it's really in reach. Like my letter really could come. #IYKYK.

I'm going to do this review to the best of my ability without spoilers. I hate to give them. Something I don't know if I've ever said is, I don't care if I get them. One of my red flags is, if I'm concerned, I will absolutely look at the end of the book and see if the characters end up together.

This book is about young people, but despite its genre indication as a YA book I'm not sure it is FOR young people. Definitely 20-somethings, but I don't think younger teens are ready for this. Maybe 16 and 17 yos are, but I'm not wholly certain. It is a gorgeous book. The world-building is beautiful. The love story is heart-wrenching and romance at its finest. However, as an adult, nearly into my forties, this was really hard to read sometimes. There were very serious topics that made me squirm uncomfortably as both a woman and a parent. My heart ached for Amelie, the main character. As a mother, I wanted to hold her tight and make the world a safer place for her. At the same time, this book serves as a stark reminder of why things like the #MeToo movement exist. Another fine example of fantasy taking on social commentary and winning!

If you can stomach the litany of content warnings listed, pick this book up now! While it's hard in many places, the beauty, wonder, romance, commentary, and a few twists make it worth it!

I can't wait to read more by this author and to find out what happens next!

Whoa it For?

If you enjoy a thrilling, fast-paced fantasy read, this book is for you. I couldn't read it fast enough! I devoured the 309 page book in a day and a half, luckily it was a weekend! It's chock full of paranormal romance and fantasy elements that will keep you guessing from start to finish. But, it's also absolutely filled to the brim with trigger warnings. So, check those out before you proceed. Be safe and keep that mental health in mind! I will also say that while the genre claims to include YA, I'm concernced about the younger members of that age category. This would absolutely require a more mature reader, and I'm not really sure that most people in the YA age group in general would be ready to handle it. So, I definitely feel like that is going to need to be evaluated on a cast by case basis by parents.

Content Warnings: This book contains topics that may disturb some readers, including, but not limited to, S3xual Assault (including Incest), R@pe, Suicid8l Ideation, Su!cide, V!olence, Fearful/Dangerous Situations, Unsafe/Dysfunctional Family Life, De@th, Under@ge Dr*g/Alc*hol Use, P@st Tr@uma, Confrontation R*pist/@buser, S3xual Pr3dator, S3x with a Minor, M*sturb*tion, Pedophili*, and More.

Bright Midnights by L.S. Delorme is the second book in the Limerent series, though I truly believe it can be read as a standalone. I loved Caio, the first book in the series, and didn’t expect to enjoy this one as much — but I did. In fact, I loved it even more.

What stood out most to me in Bright Midnights was the writing and the characters. I became deeply invested in them, especially Amelie. The writing is beautiful and easy to read; it completely absorbed me into the world and painted such vivid images of what the characters were experiencing. It’s an emotional read, too. The characters are fantastic and feel so real. I connected with Amelie right away — I can’t even say exactly why, but she just resonated with me. Hanson is another standout character, and even the less likable ones, like Jack, are written with depth and believability.

The story does explore some dark and difficult topics, but Delorme handles them with care and realism. She portrays a wide spectrum of human behaviour, showing what people are capable of — not in a way that’s meant to shock or scare, but in a way that feels honest and thought-provoking.

The plot flows beautifully. I loved the mystery and danger surrounding those who would hunt Amelie for her powers. It felt like such a unique story, and I couldn’t stop turning the pages.

If you love paranormal romance that doesn’t shy away from tackling serious themes, I can’t recommend this book — or the Limerent series as a whole — enough.

I really enjoyed reading this one! After reading Ciao I just knew I needed to read more by this author. This one got me in my feels, I got emotional but was completely consumed the entire time. I finished in one sitting because it’s definitely one of those books you just can’t pause. The writing flowed very nicely that made it easy to follow. Amelie I am absolutely obsessed with but oooh my heart got scared at points. Without giving too much away with this one I totally recommend adding it to your tbrs!

✨ Bright Midnights by L.S. Delorme ✨

📖✨ Book 2 in the Limerent Series (can be read as a stand alone)

Amelie has always been different. Ever since she turned 11, people have been dangerously drawn to her — and it NEVER ends well. The only peace she finds is at night, when her dreams let her travel to other times and places. Then one night she meets Clovis.

Clovis is mysterious and alluring, and he is hiding secrets of his own. Clovis introduces Amelie to a world beyond anything she’s known. As their connection deepens, dark truths begin to surface.

This book dives into dark themes of obsession (check trigger warnings), otherworldly connections, and secret dimensions. I loved the eerie, almost gothic vibe mixed with a little romance. The idea of dimensional planes and dream-travel felt unique, and the chemistry between Amelie and Clovis kept me hooked.

If you love dark paranormal stories with hidden pasts, then check this one out. It’s filled with secrets that refuse to stay buried!

Bright Midnights pulled me into the story immediately. The writing was so immersive and fast-paced. But check your triggers because this is *dark* and also YA, making the content more disturbing. The experiences and dream travels are so vivid and beautifully descriptive, while the dark love story and other content are at odds with the lovely stories. The main characters are complex, and the situations are scary at times. The decisions Amelie makes really fit her upper high school personality, making it both relatable and infuriating. The timeless pull between Amelie and Clovis in their love story is both exhilarating and heartbreaking. The book ends in a shocking way and does not give all the answers. I want answers. I know it's part of a series, but each book follows a different set of characters. Do we get more of their story in the other books? I very much enjoyed it but was left with so many questions at the end. I need the next story!

This is book 2 in the Limerent Series and my second book by LS Delorme and it did not disappoint! It can be read as a standalone as it doesn’t directly follow Caio. I loved meeting Amelie and Clovis. Amelie is so lovable and makes you want to give her a hug and help her. There are heavy topics that the author covers beautifully. The characters are very well developed and the writing style makes it easy to visualize it all. Once I started reading I was hooked. The story is beautiful and gripping. The dream escape aspect of the story was amazing. That ending!! I absolutely can’t wait for the rest of the books in the series! LS Delorme is such a beautiful and unique storyteller. 💜

Note- It is called YA but I’m not sure I would recommend this to younger than 16 or so. Make sure you check the trigger warnings also.

Thank you to netgalley and limerence publishing for the ARC of Bright Midnights.

This book follows the story of Amelie Mccornick and her struggles with being different. She has oddly been aware of the energies she puts off. It attracts people to her and not in good ways. Because of that, she has always felt kind of isolated and alone in her world. Her favorite part of her day is actually at night, when she goes to sleep. In her dreams she flies and travels places that feel so much better than the reality she lives in. One night she meets a strange boy and has a strange conversation, that leads to him finding her in her waking world, and her finding him while she sleeps.
The writing in this story was beautiful. I think the author has a way with words and imagery that had me hooked from the beginning. But as the story went on, I found it hard to continue due to the constant sexual language. At first, I thought it was just part of building the characters and the story, there were parts that were unnecessary and overdone, making me feel uncomfortable.
I think everyone should check the trigger warnings on this one, as there are a few that I encountered and had a hard time getting through the book.

This was a really good second installment. I loved the premise of the story and it was a very enjoyable read.

The cover is stunning! The colours pop and the design is simple yet effective. I love it.

The book is written really well and flows nicely. The descriptions are good and they language is simple to follow which is good!

The settings and world building in this book are stunning. This just adds further to the enjoyment of the book.

The characters are fun and they all fit in perfectly. I loved Amelie and Clovis. I loved how their story unfolded and their interactions together. I wasn't too keen on Mr. Sawyer, he was so creepy!!

I recommend this book. It can definitely be read as standalone but I recommend the entire series

This is the second book in The Limerent series but only the first book that I've read by this author.

I did spot that this was a book 2, but on checking, it seemed to focus on different characters from the first book and so I took a chance on just reading this one first.

I was instantly drawn to this book by its gorgeous front cover image - with it's colouring and the symbols, this looked like it could maybe have witchy vibes and I couldn't wait to dive in.

This certainly read perfectly well as a standalone read and I was so glad that I could really focus on these characters as they were fully introduced to us here.

Amelie was such an intriguing character and I was completely hooked from the start and invested in her abilities and what might follow.

I loved that even given the paranormal aspects of this read, the characters were really well presented and developed in a way that made them believable and relatable!

The storyline does get a little dark in places but this was in keeping with our characters' stories and was not there to shock as such, merely to enhance the character and progress the storyline - and these elements were written with a lot of sensitivity too.

The writing style was so easy to fall into. With a beautifully descriptive style, I found that I could quickly immerse myself within the storyline and even feel transported into this strange world with everyone.

I really enjoyed this book and have instantly headed off to grab a copy of book 1 to catch up, ready for the next release.

Bright midnights review:
4 stars ⭐️

What have I just read! This was such a beautifully written and well crated book. It’s amazing how the book features dark topics with realism and the magical aspect is amazing.
Amelie has a gift like an energy of magic she’s a young FMC who dreams of flying to different places where we are sucked into her world. Clovis
Hanson and a range of characters are really well intwined in the book it really has you invested in the characters and the story.

Plot is amazing, escaping through dreams and into stories unreal. This is one magical book but do check your triggers as there are some sensitive subjects. Non the less written like a work of art! I will indeed continue the series!

This book started with a bang literally and figuratively, combining the usual angst of being a teenager but with the added difficulties of magical powers. Amelie's ability to time travel through dreams was such a fascinating concept that had me hooked. I don't want to give any spoilers but I enjoyed the connection between her and Clovis and the secrets  that come to life along the way. I found this book covered some deep subjects but handled them perfectly and authentically that had me craving more.

This book!!!! It's been a while since I finished a book at stupid o'clock in the morning, almost screaming out loud "what the hell?!?!" I can't even talk about it without giving away sooooo many spoilers 🤣 but this book is insane! It was such an easy read, few dark moments in there to keep you on your toes and and I loved the combination of fantasy with modern times.

There are some characters you love and others you could quite happily yeet them into the afterlife and others you find yourself constantly unable to make your mind up about them!

The second in the Limerent Series, this doesn't follow from Caio but is another well written story where there is a sprinkle of fantasy and different dimensions. This can be read as a standalone but my understanding is that eventually the books will merge ❤️.

This story follows Amelie, a 17 year old with an unusual gift, which leads to a lot of unwanted attention! She is able to visit different worlds through hallways and dreams and it was brilliant seeing how the different worlds collided. The ending just like Caio left me feeling like there is more to this individual story, so I am looking forward to see how that unfolds 😍.

Thanks to Literally PR for the gifted copy of this book in return for an honest review.

This is the second book in the series, and I hadn't read the first one and so was worried it would be difficult to get into, but I don't think it was.

I mean, I obviously don't know what I've missed from the first one...as I've missed it, but I never felt at a disadvantage starting with this one. I mean, I'm sure as with any series you get to know characters and pick up on little things, but like I say, I didn't feel like I missed out by not reading book one.

Generally speaking, I am not a huge fan of big sections of description as I feel it can often take you out of the story and feel more like a creative writing task. And the first page of this is all description of the weather and the woods and whatnot, but it didn't feel jarring. In fact, it was the opposite, drawing me in and setting up what sounded like a magical story.

I enjoyed the idea that magic and powers might not always be a positive. Generally - and this is a generalisation and only my opinion - but I find magical things in books are always a good thing, an exciting thing. But I imagine, as a young kid or a teenager, especially a teenage girl, being different must be really difficult as it's a time where you do all you can to NOT be different.

I liked Amelie. Yes she's clearly got something going on that's a bit weird, and she's drawing attention, not all of it good, but I liked her initially. She didn't even have to try hard to get me on her side, she was just so naturally bright that I was willing to go on this journey.

I admit that at times I felt there were perhaps one too many subplots. I don't mean this as a negative per se, but more because I wanted more. I wanted more focus on sibling rivalries, on school friendships, on school dangers, on secrets etc. They were sort of touched upon but not really developed. But I read somewhere that the author is building up to something in the third book so perhaps that's the reason why.

It was intriguing. Amazon says it's an YA novel which iI agree with, but it also held my attention as a not-so-young-adult straight away.

I felt it was well written, with an interesting storyline, layered characters, and magical elements, twists and turns etc. There were perhaps a few too many explicit suggestions perhaps. They didn't offend me in any way, but I kept noticing them which took me out of the story a bit, they didn't seem worked in quite as seamlessly as everything else.

But overall I'm pleased I've read it. She's a new author to me and one I'll keep an eye out for. It's well written and intriguing and exciting. A solid 4 stars! Not perfect but with a lot of really great stuff (which is why I don't normally do star ratings as I don't feel it encapsulates my opinion properly).

Thrilling new adult paranormal romance!

Bright Midnights may be the second book in author L.S. Delorme’s enthralling new adult paranormal romance Limerent series, but readers just discovering it will easily be able to step right into the tale. This book and its predecessor are what can be termed foundational, introducing characters, themes, and storylines that stand alone but will eventually converge in a future volume.

I was initially attracted to the book by its intriguing premise and quickly became a fan upon getting to know the story’s main character, Amelie McCormick. Her lifelong and self-guarded secret struggles with her health immediately drew my sympathy, as did her difficult relationship with her family, especially her mother. Amelie’s circumstances felt unique among the majority of the books of this genre, with her hillbilly-ish family and her acceptance into her high school’s elite crowd. Just at face, her problems were going to be different, and these differences lent themselves to some fresh interactions and situations. The unique ways her powers affected her classmates, teachers, and anyone in her vicinity when she relaxed her restraint were fascinating, also leading to surprising, unanticipated results. Her flying forays into her dream world will strike a chord with many. The sequences are vivid and eerie, and much like what we all experience at times, but hopefully, without the surprise crossovers into the physical waking world Amelie has. Just a reminder that this book is intended for a new adult audience. The story is related through multiple points of view, and there is a creepy sexual interest in the main character by a vice principal at the school, and readers sensitive to such should take note.

With its engaging and relatable main character and its fresh, intriguing plot, I recommend BRIGHT MIDNIGHTS to readers who enjoy paranormal romance, suspense, and thrillers.

The book begins by exploring the common struggles of high school students but quickly delves into the extraordinary challenges faced by Amelie.

Amelie's unusual ability to be irresistibly drawn to others, often with tragic consequences, instantly captivates the reader. The fantasy element of her escaping into dreams to explore different eras and places is both imaginative and engaging.

When a mysterious young man with a secretive past, enters the scene, the plot thickens. The allure of uncovering his history and its connection to Amelie adds layers of intrigue and anticipation.

The tension escalates as Amelie's secrets risk exposure to the wrong people, hinting at significant upheavals. This sense of impending danger keeps readers on edge, eagerly turning pages to see how these revelations will affect the characters and storyline.

What I enjoyed most about this book is its seamless blend of reality and fantasy. The relatable high school setting juxtaposed with Amelie's fantastical dream escapades creates a unique reading experience. The complex characters, especially Amelie and Clovis, are well-developed, making their journey both compelling and emotionally engaging. The narrative's unpredictability kept me hooked, with each chapter revealing new twists and turns.

Overall, this book offers an enthralling combination of mystery, romance, and fantasy. The concept of escaping through dreams and the suspense of hidden secrets add depth and excitement, making it a thoroughly enjoyable read.

I read and loved Fanning Fireflies so it made sense that I read Bright Midnights as well, even though YA/fantasy is not my usual genre. But the author’s writing is beautiful and the characters are well written. As an aside, I didn’t realise that Bright Midnights came before Fanning Fireflies, though they are not really connected apart from Dante and Kara, who feature a lot more later.

The main character, Amelie, is delightful, if naive and at times rather selfish, but that’s teenagers for you! As for Clovis, the jury is still out. I didn’t trust him and still don’t. Amelie has powers that she struggles to control. Her family are an ignorant bunch, so fail to understand her. And her school friends are all horrible, apart from Hudson.

As we progress through the book, we find out more about Amelie’s powers, including her ability to fly in her dreams (which is how she meets Clovis), and how it affects her when she gets back. At school, she is considered an outsider, a bit weird – if only they knew how weird – and one of her teachers has a very unhealthy obsession with her, which makes her life even more difficult.

I have to read it from an objective point of view as I can’t identify with the subject matter or the characters, but I can still appreciate what a great book it is for young adults. And of course the author writes with confidence and authority. I’m really looking forward to reading more of Amelie’s adventures in Ghosting Academy.

Many thanks to @LiterallyPR for inviting me me to be part of the #BrightMidnights blog tour.

I discovered The Limerent Series at book 3, Fanning Fireflies, so I'm working backwards by returning to the series with book 2, Bright Midnights. Each book can be read as a standalone as the main characters' stories are the focus of each book, with some cameo appearances from characters you might recognise if you've read any of the other books.

This is Amelie's story and she has a special gift that definitely feels like more of a curse as people become fixated and dangerously obsessed with her. The story becomes quite dark as the reader is privy to certain thoughts and feelings that people have about Amelie and it often made my skin crawl.

Amelie can escape her real life through her dreams where she meets Clovis. It's obvious from the start that Amelie and Clovis have a special connection but there are very good reasons why they can never be together. The heart rules the head though, and there are some more necessary but slightly uncomfortable moments in store for the reader as inevitable events occur.

LS Delorme's writing is so dreamlike and ethereal, sweeping the reader away to alternative realities. The plot is imaginative and original as it mixes real life with the paranormal and the characters are beautifully drawn and very memorable.

Pure escapism with a dark undercurrent, Bright Midnights is a captivating romantasy that is entertaining and provocative. I am looking forward to reading more books in this magical series.

I received an ARC to read and review for the blog tour and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.
