When Mai is rejected by a guy she fell for, she decides to revamp her look to regain her title of school heartthrob. On the first day of her second year of high school, she unveils her new look to make all the boys want her and her former crush regret rejecting her. However, her big entrance is interrupted by the a strange new girl who is Mai's exact opposite. Mai is instantly struck by how beautiful the new girl is without even trying! Mai can't seem to get her mind off of this mysterious newcomer named Sakura.
The main character is pretty complicated by her depression but she is such a thoughtful, kind person, for the most part and the surrounding characters are really kind and bubbly people and have a very close relationship. Anyhoo, I really enjoyed this story, it's heart-warming, positive and felt pretty ideal. I highly recommend you read.
I loved how realistic the characters felt. The way they talked, the way they question themselves. It was such a polar opposite attract story. I love how vulnerable everyone was and how open she was with her mom. Mai and her friends remind me so much of mind growing up and with a yuri element it makes it all the more endearing.
