Love Unexpected #10

Enticing the Older Man

Rate this book
Will the undeniable chemistry between a young professional and a retiree be enough to make them take a chance on more?

Millie

After a grueling three years to earn my DPT, I’m ready for a well-deserved break. My parents graciously offer me their beach bungalow in Key West. The only catch is they asked their neighbor to check up on me. I’m an adult. I don’t need a babysitter. Except I wasn’t expecting the immediate flare of attraction I feel for the handsome older man. He’s not shy about telling me I’m too young for him. Good thing I’m trained to listen to body language more than words.

NOAH

A health setback caused me to reconsider my life and after handing most of my business off to my sons, I settle into early retirement. My life is a lot more relaxed and peaceful now, which is how I plan to keep it. Being a good neighbor, I think nothing of agreeing to keep an eye out on my neighbor’s daughter while she visits. I just wish I knew what I was getting into before I said yes. She’s friendly, sweet, and utterly captivating. She’s the kind of excitement I don’t need, but how can I say no when everything in me wants to say yes?

Enticing the Older Man is a short, sweet and steamy story featuring a charming heroine and the older man who wins her heart. It’s a standalone with no cliffhangers and a very satisfying HEA!

Lisa's a sucker for anything romance. From middle school on she was sneak reading her mom's romances. Big, beefy man on the cover? She was there!
Alphas, Billionaires, and English Lords- oh my!
But at the end of the day a tender tyrant is what truly made her little heart go pitter patter.
She writes feel-good stories about imperfect people finding their HEA. Because it's not a romance without a most satisfying HEA.

This was a fun and steamy age gap romance that hit all the tropes just right ;) Noah retired early because of a health scare and Millie has just finished her degree and is taking a break from the years of studying hard. When these two met, it was a bit rough but the attraction sure sparked between them. Millie wasn't shy about wanting him but he figured he didn't need the distraction, their age was a problem, the fact he was her parents' friend...you see the tropes? ;P Well, with fun banter and lots of jogging, they finally get the steam going. However, all is not simple in this story, making their journey to love a real page turner. Good fun!

This was a good read. Millie is staying at her parents beach house for a week. Their neighbor Noah was asked to check up on her. They are instantly attracted to each other. However, it takes a little time before they get together. Thankfully in the end everything works out and they get their happy ending.

Honestly this is real basic DNF 60% I love an age-gap as much as the next girl but this really left a lot to be desired. The spice was boring, characters were underdeveloped. I downloaded this for free without any research but I’d skip this one.

Enticing the Older Man Book 11 (or Book 10, depending on where you look. Goodreads has it listed as Book 10, while Amazon has it listed as Book 11), of the Love Unexpected series, was about 23-year-old Mildred "Millie" (no last name given), a recent college graduate working towards her PT doctorate, and 42-year-old retired Noah Vandelay.
Having pushed herself into completing a seven-year college schedule in five years, Millie finally took her parents up on their suggestion that she should take a vacation at their beach house in Key West while she waited to take her final exam to get her PT license. Unknown to her, her parents had asked their neighbor, Noah, to keep an eye on her while she was there.
Noah, a man who had twin 23-year-old sons (soon to be 24), had a life-altering heart attack four years before the book started. After having open heart surgery, his doctor told him he needed to make some drastic changes in his life or he would be dead before the age of 50. So, he turned his business over to his sons and retired to Key West.
Once Millie had met Noah, she decided she wanted him, and she pursued him even though he tried to discourage her. She was determined to have a fling with him, but she didn't expect to fall in love. Neither did Noah. He tried to keep her at arm's length but did not succeed.
There was a lot about this story that was unsettling, not the least of which was how aggressive the FMC was in her pursuit of the MMC. There was also the fact that between the ending of chapter 15 and the beginning of chapter 16, it felt like something was left out or got tossed out by accident. Whatever the reason, there was information that was just...not there and it left a gaping hole in the entire plot.
I can't say I liked either of the main characters. Millie was just too alpha to Noah's beta He was the fox to her hound, and it didn't work in this scenario. Noah, for his part, did some sh*tty things that should have been unforgivable.
The angst and the drama were both out of sync with the rest of the story, and there was very little humor to alleviate the dark side of the book. The emotions ran the gamut, and it wasn't good. There was too much pain, too much heartache, and then it just...died out before picking back up which created a lot of unresolved issues.
Because of the things I've mentioned, I couldn't give this book more than a one-star rating, it was that bad.

I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.

Millie has been studying hard for her degree but she needs a break from it all and decides that a trip to Key West to stay at her parents. Love had figured nowhere in her plans but that’s exactly what happens when she meets her older next door neighbour Noah. She is determined to get his attention but he seems determined to keep her at arms length, until she cracks his shell and their passion for one another takes over. Just when it looks like things could work between them he pulls away and shuts her out, even when he knows she is leaving he doesn’t even say goodbye. Was anything that they shared real, or was she just a fun time?

Noah had to retire a few years ago after suffering a heart attack, leaving his two twin sons to run his company. So when his neighbours and friends ask him to keep an eye on their daughter Millie whilst they are away he agrees, he wasn’t counting on there being an intense attraction between them especially as she is the same age as his sons. Noah tries hard to ignore her attempts at getting his attention until he finally gives in to what he had wanted since day one. But she’s far too young for him and decides it’s for the best if he keeps his distance. It’s not until Millie is gone and he realises his feelings for her are not going to go away, but will she forgive him for letting her leave without even saying goodbye, has he lost what could have been?

As always with Lisa’s books you will be entertained from start to finish. Millie knew what she wanted when she met Noah and she’s a determined woman, Noah never really stood a chance. Great 4.2* read.

Millie was taking a much needed break from all her studying. She takes her final test to pass to get what she worked so long for. Millie drove to her parents place in Key West. What she did expect was to fall for the hot older guy living next door.
Noah was asked to keep an eye on his neighbors daughter when she came to town. Being an older guy and a dad to twin boys about Mollies age, he knew nothing would ever happen. Then he met the little spit fire and things changed. Noah had retired due to having a heart attack a few years back. Now he runs and stays in shape.
While visiting Millie did everything in her power to get his attention, she even started running when he ran in the morning. She tried everything to grab his attention but it just wasn't working.
Then one day it all changed. He finally gave into the attraction. Millie is thrilled but then he pulls back and tries to stay away. Millie is leaving to go back to school and Noah can't bare to see her leave and doesn't even say good bye.
Back home Millie gets a surprise visitor and its Noah letting her know he's miserable without her. He loves her and really can't be without her. She lets him know she feels the same. After passing her test and getting her degree she moves to Key West and gets married to Noah. They are starting a family as well.
Noah is older but excited to start over and be there for this child.

Enjoyable age-gap novella. I loved both the main characters in this story; Millie is sassy young woman who is confident and sure of what she wants...turns out that becomes Noah – her parents’ older neighbour (who they have asked to ‘keep an eye on her’ during her stay at their vacation home). Noah, on the other hand, is a grumpy older guy – who has taken early retirement on health grounds and sees chirpy Millie as a temptation he must resist! I really enjoyed the interactions between these two and Millie’s unwavering persistence to ‘get her man’. I really liked how things come to a head when Noah’s son (who is Millie’s age) makes his interest in her clear at his father’s party. Good, quick read with a great HEA.

Vacation romance with the hot (older) neighbor

I really liked this story. It was smile inducing, entertaining, and enjoyable. The characters were interesting and likable. Millie (Mildred) was spending her vacation at her parents beach house. As she neared the house, she saw Noah running and checked him out (hardcore!). Millie soon found out that he was the neighbor and that her parents had asked him to look out for her. Noah was grumpy but Millie liked that about him. There was only a little drama and angst. I loved their happily ever after. I recommend reading this book.

This book had good spice, however it was far too much insta love. I didn't expect much depth with a short story and I am all for a HEA ending which would have worked in the epilogue itself, but the quickness of everything was too much. I think if it had been a summer break with a few months told in snippets it would not have bugged me so much. Millie's immediate desire for Noah was fine and a lust story would have worked well with the length, however with knowing each other less than 2 weeks and throwing out the L word was a lot. I also felt for the length of the story while the spice was good the slow burn was a bit much with almost 50% until it started. I felt this book was more of a synopsis of a 4 - 4.5 star romance story.

How long can Noah resist the pull that is Millie?

If you love age gap romance that is steamy then Lisa Freed has you covered with Millie & Noah's story - Enticing The Older Man. Millie has just finished doing her DPT & is taking a break at her parents beach bungalow. They've asked their next door neighbour Noah to check in on her. There's an immediate flare of attraction but Noah is reluctant due to their age gap. Millie is only there for a limited time. Will Noah realise that what they have developing is developing is worth fighting for or will he let Millie slip through his fingers?.

Millie has hit the books hard and just before her test she is taking a much needed break in Key West at her parent's beach house. They talk their neighbor into checking on her, not that she needs a keeper, but she can think of others she needs.

Noah retired early after a health scare, his sons no run his company and he loves the relaxed pace. Looking in a on a college student has implications that he had no idea of. He is too old for her, but she is captivating. When he tell the heat is mutual, how is going to keep distance?

Will the two give in to a vacation fling? Can it be more?.

I liked the story of Millie and Noah. This is a May/December romance with Noah in retirement and Millie finishing her schooling. Millie goes to Key West and meets Noah as he's her parents neighbor. Noah is upset that he agreed to watch out for Millie as he thought she was old enough to care for herself. They both knew right away that they were attracted to each other but Noah was fight it tooth and nail. I love when Noah finally can't keep his hands off Millie. I love their dynamics and their chemistry. I enjoyed the ending. Highly recommend.

Millie is taking a break before her final exams and is staying at her parents' place. Noah is their neighbor, and he helps her when she needs a key to get in. She ends up falling asleep on his couch because she traveled straight through the night. Sparks fly between her and Noah. He fights his attraction for her, and she tries tempting him into giving in. Will this just be a fling, or will it turn into something more?

This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

This is another instalment in the ‘Love Unexpected’ series. Just before sitting her finals, 23 year old Millie goes to her parents Florida holiday home for a fortnight’s holiday. Next door, 41 year old Noah has been asked by her parents to keep an eye on her.

A well written, very steamy, entertaining novella with an extreme age gap, forbidden romance theme. I love this series of novellas which are complete standalones and can be read in any order.

Wowsa this book was so good and will have you entertained from the beginning until the end. Millie needs a break and her parents are making her take one at their place in key west but when she can't find her house key it's her parents hunky neighbor to the rescue . Could he be more? Or will the age gap come in between them? Noah had health issues that set him back making retire but when he meets his neighbors daughter can he stay away from her? Or will age keep them apart?.

Millie is taking a break in Key West at her parent’s beach bungalow.

Noah had a heart attack 4 years ago so he gave his business over to his sons and retired early. He is neighbors in Key West with Millie’s parents and agreed to check on her for her parents.

What happens when Noah realizes that Millie is different than what he pictured from her parent’s description? What happens when Millie decides to flirt with Noah?

I liked this age gap story a lot.

This is the second book I read by Lisa Freed, and I have really enjoyed them both. Characters are lovingly drawn up and come to life throughout the story. There's some minor drama, as you would expect and want, but it's overall a sweet story with a HEA. Noah's sons being Millie's age could have been weird, but it's actually not, and the brief part of their story that's included adds to Noah's character. I'll definitely be reading more from Lisa!.

Millie is in Key Weston vacation and her parents on not there. Noah her neighbor was asked to keep her safe or look out for her while her parents were gone. Hmmm. Realistic situation. Age gap? Yes. Persistently almost stalkerish tendencies on her neighbor. Different plans to seduction? Yes. Great descriptions of the situations. Steam is in the future.

This is such a great read. Older grumpy sexy man and a younger woman who knows exactly what she wants. Noah and Millie are great together and when Millie wants something she gets it. And she wants Noah even if he is a sexy older grump. Fast steamy read, well written with great characters. Loved this book.

This was a really cute age gap/ grumpy sunshine romance. I loved Millie, she had no issues going after what she wanted. Noah was a big old grump but Millie and her sunshine couldn’t help rubbing off on him. I really enjoyed their story.

This book had everything, grumpy/sunshine, neighbours, parent's best friend, age gap, vacation, and still, it somehow worked.
Usually, I wouldn't say I like books with every trope known to man thrown in, but Millie and Noah have a sweet/spicy chemistry that made it work. The dialogue was quick, and the steam was spicy.

Millie

Millie is taking a much needed break from school at her parents house. They've asked the neighbor, Noah, to check in on her. As soon as she sees him she's in love. He's older than her, having sons her she, and doesn't think anything will happen. She's going to do everything in her power to make him notice her though.

good spicy quick read

This is such a good palette cleanser when you can’t figure out what to read. Actually any book by Lisa is. I loved how Millie didn’t take any of Noah’s crap and would dish the bs right back to him. There were times I really wanted to reach through and just smack Noah but I’m glad they got their hea
