"For a million bucks, would you marry a complete stranger?"
Andrea Lindholm has been at the altar before–alone. Two years ago, her fiancé failed to show up on the day of their wedding, forever changing her outlook on marriage. Now she’s being offered enough money to solve her financial woes in exchange for acting as proxy for another woman—Andrea's double—in her marriage to handsome and rich Blake Thomas. All Andrea has to do is play the part of the bride in the wedding and then share a two-week honeymoon in Hawaii with Blake.
Old fears of being jilted resurface as the wedding day approaches. But after she meets the dashing groom, her ability to distance herself from the job becomes more challenging every day. Will Andrea be able to cash out of this arrangement with her heart intact when Blake’s new wife claims her place at his side?
"His eyes welled, and his heart threatened to bubble over. God, he loved her. This was the woman he had to find a way to be with, no matter what..."
When Andrea Lindholm loses her job, it sets off a string of events that she could have never imagined happening. She expected to be interviewed for the position of social work, and is shocked when she meets her doppelganger and real life body double, Dr. Sarah Gentry.
Dr. Gentry makes her an offer she can't refuse, the chance to make a million dollars and help Colombian sex traffic victims. Granted with power of attorney, Andrea is forced to face her demons of the past when she learns part of the deal includes marrying wealthy and successful businessman Blake, by proxy. Unfortunately, Andrea has walked down the aisle herself once before, and her fiance never showed up... But she agrees to stand in for Sarah, so Sarah can go to Columbia and rescue several sex trafficking victims.
Blake and Andrea become captivated by each other, and saying goodbye in two weeks is the last thing either of them want. Andrea had put her life on hold, and her heart in jeopardy. What will become of them when the honeymoon is over? And what will become of Blake and Sarah?
I really enjoyed this story. There are so many twists and turns that keep the reader interested. It is a story of true love, romance, and the power of forgiveness. This story taught me to follow my heart, like Blake and Andrea did.
I highly recommend Body Double, by Alane Hudson, to anyone who enjoys a good, refreshing romance. A bit suspenseful at times, this book was anything but predictable. 4 stars!
***I received an e-copy of Body Double from the Author in exchange for a fair & honest review.
"For a million bucks, would you marry a complete stranger?"
Two years ago Andrea Lindholm was left at the alter, her fiance never making it to the church for their wedding and no word from him since. Her outlook on marriage and trust has been forever altered. She lost her job and financial distress is her middle name, but she has been offered one million dollars for acting as Proxy, for a bride-to-be named Sarah, her exact double. Marriage to the handsome and rich Blake Thomas is not what Sarah really wants but she needs him for other reasons. Andrea is required to play the part of his fiancee, stand in at the wedding ceremony and pretend she is Sarah. A two-week honeymoon in Hawaii with the gorgeous Blake is part of the deal and she has carte blanche to do with him as she pleases. Whoa baby, what an offer and to be paid for it as well!
Blake Thomas is a hunky multimillionaire health club owner and he needs to marry Sarah to help his mother keep his deceased father's business intact as she makes a business deal with Sarah's father, the devil himself. Blake agrees to do this for his mother and will do what it takes to try and make his marriage work.
When Blake is informed of the by Proxy marriage arrangement and meets his new stand-in intended, sparks ignite as they are drawn to each other like magnets. After the honeymoon, it gets pretty dicey. When Sarah returns from a rescue mission and comes home to claim her husband, what will happen to Andrea? Is it possible for Andrea to come out of this fake marriage with her heart intact? What about Blake's heart?
I highly recommend this book. Alane...what fantastic writing!
After her company was sold, it closed its nonprofit arm, leaving social worker Andrea unemployed. When she reported to The Lighthouse, an organization specializing in helping the victims of human trafficking, Andrea is shocked. The head of The Lighthouse, Sarah, looks exactly like Andrea.
The shocks to Andrea's system are just beginning. Sarah has an outlandish proposition for Andrea. If Andrea marries Sarah's fiancé, the handsome and rich Blake, Andrea will earn one million dollars.
Sarah thinks Andrea can fool Blake and pull off the deception.
Sarah is wrong.
Alane Hudson's Body Double is a wonderfully entertaining romance. Her characters are fully developed and engaging. Andrea is a dedicated person who wants to make a difference helping people, with scars from a cruel jilting two years ago. I loved Sarah, who is from Atlanta. Her homespun humor will have the reader chucking. For example, Sarah knew the plan "sounded nuttier than a squirrel’s Thanksgiving pie." And the elderly Isabelle, who instructed Blake to save his strength for his honeymoon.
Wow!! When I first read the title of the book Body Double I wasn't too sure if I would like it or not. But right away I was sucked into the story and I couldn't stop reading it!! Andrea and Blake click right away and throughout the entire story Andrea remained true to herself and didn't allow money to change her. Sarah is hard headed and I like how in the end there's more warmth to her character as she learns to let go of her feelings she had about her dad and finally apologizes for how she has acted. I cannot wait to read more books by this author and would definitely recommend this book to anyone
I would like to think that a Doctor, would act a little bit more mature than that. Don't get me wrong, I liked the story, and the characters were interesting to read, I just don't think that a Doctor would act so petty and jealous, but still go to . It's really a conundrum. But I'm glad that they ended up with the right people in the end.
I wish that the main male character did not act so...weirdly when he was told about what happened to Andrea. That didn't seem real to me, but whatever. Overall, a good story with interesting background.
What a fabulous book!! i loved this story from start to finish!! How fun an amazing for Andrea to get, to do this. Going from being penniless to a bazillionaire even just for show for awhile. I totally enjoyed this story- it had everything i want in a good story! Romance, intrigue, lots of description. To me this is very important, and a really decent storyline. And i appreciated the toned down romantic scenes. You dont need graphic imaging to get a great story! i cant wait to read more stories by Ms Hudson!
Here was a new concept for my reading library. About two women who look so much alike they could be twins. One is wealthy the other works. The wealthy one is in an arranged marriage she does not want. So she talks the other to stand in for her during the wedding and honeymoon. What happens? Does the groom ever find out? That is the story. I was not able to get into the story all that much but I did enjoy the over all plot.
Could. Not. Stop. Reading. This!!!!! Loved the complicated yet "real" family relationships. I really could see the characters and their surroundings Hope this author chooses to write romance again
