Anya has never been one for the spotlight, but her family seems to now be front and center, and the talk of the town in Underlayes. In the aftermath of her mother’s death, the discovery of said mother’s deceit, and Anya's half-sister getting ready to challenge her own father for the witches’ throne, keeping a low profile may prove to be difficult. Add in the fact that she’s pregnant, by her female mate, and it may turn out to be impossible.

Kierra has never been one for many words. So if she were forced to explain how she impregnated Anya, it probably wouldn’t be easy for her. Especially since the truth would mean revealing her origins; she’s not a vampire, or even anything close to it. And living in a realm where her kind isn’t allowed may cause a few ramifications. Plus, should the kid call her Mom, or Dad?

Jump right back into the world of Underlayes where this magical family takes dysfunction to brand new heights.

T. A. resides in Detroit, Michigan with her five children, and the rest of her dysfunctional family, where she was born and raised. She started her writing career in the midst of a very hard time in her life and is now a best-selling author. Her debut and award-winning novel, Witch Wars, and the world of Underlayes, was born from a mind that desperately needed an escape, so she created one.

The novel was inspired by her love of all things paranormal and how she wanted it seen. “We live in a diverse world, shouldn’t all of the characters in books, even paranormal also be diverse,” she says. “I saw so few paranormal books with a diverse cast until I read L. A. Banks. You know, with more than one or two diverse characters thrown in for good measure. Mine have it all, too.”

A mother of five beautiful children, but by far more than just that. T. A. Moorman is an artist, a violinist, a seamstress, a crafter, a writer, a blogger, a reviewer, a dark confidant and a darkly dangerous, fiercely protective friend.

I absolutely love this series!! This is a quick read that gives us insight into Anya and Kierra's relationship, and how Anya and her sisters are trying to form solid bonds with each, while dealing with the aftermath of their mother's death. A great addition to the series.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I only have one word … WOW. Loved this book from the first page. It was a great short read with lovable characters (Anya being my favourite). Looking forward to reading more of the series.

Nice story. You would have to read the first book to fallow some of this one. I think that having both of the main people pregnant at the same time is funny. A very short very good story. I enjoyed it. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.

A quick witted, fast paced, and enthralling read by T.A. Moorman. Again we delve into the magical and mystical world of the Underlayes with three sisters, Anya, Tialanna and Elyssia. It is a world of witches, vampires, mermaids, and all sorts of other wonderful creatures we dream about (or have nightmares about). T.A. Moorman gave us rapport between the characters that keeps you on your toes as well as on the edge of your seat as you laugh and battle along with the characters. These three sisters must try to balance the power in the Underlayes and it is not an easy task in the least.

Hybrids is a short story in the Underlayes collection told from Anya's POV. First, I have to say, the Underlayes series is one of my favorites to date. I truly recommend starting with book one but I believe Hybrids was written in a way that could be read as a standalone as well. Anya and Keira are Fated Mates and this is the tale of how Anya got pregnant and the consequences they face by bringing the little bundle of joy into the realm. I'm just really happy the title of this installment is not Who's Your Daddy or some other crazy thing. Here is a snippet to whet your appetite:

“Anya, all it takes is one time.”
“Ugh, what are we going to do if I am? Just come out to everybody and say my wife got me pregnant?
Well, that struck a fear in my heart so deep that I could barely breathe past the panic. We would be dealing with yet another hybrid baby, just like Tia, and they’d both be born around the same time.”

Moorman's world building skills are flawless. I am so happy that the characters I've come to love are back in this action-packed, witty, erotic novella. Seriously, one-click. You won't regret it.

Another trip to the Underlayes. This time the focus is on Anya and her mate Kierra. The story offers a glimpse into the “missing” years between books 1 and 2 of the Underlayes series.

Hybrids had some errors — a combination of typos and missed words. I think it would benefit from another read-through or two, or a good look-over by an editor. I also felt that the ending was rushed, almost as though a max word or page count had been reached so the story had to end.

I received my ARC copy on May 6th, so I don’t know if some of the issues I noticed have been fixed since then. I’m also aware that Ms. Moorman has switched to self-publication, so some of this may be “growing pains.”

Regardless of the issues, the story was fun, and I enjoyed getting to see things from Anya’s as yet unexplored perspective, including getting to see more of Kierra. I hope some of the other “missing” years between books 1 and 2 get explored in future novellas or installments.

This story takes off where the first book, Witch Wars, ended, but from a different point of view this time. Anya and Kierra have a unique relationship, to the say the least. Just when things couldn’t get crazier, fate takes over and give them a run for a money.

I enjoyed the banter between the characters, but I would’ve loved for the story to slow down just a bit. Some parts seemed rushed which, to me, made some of the story feel just a bit far-fetched. However, the brilliance of magic is not having to follow every exact detail to enjoy it.

Amazing novella that's set in the Underlayes world! I love Anya and Kierra. Anya is pregnant, and they are about to become first-time parents. Their love is beautiful. This is only a small part of the series. It's great with the focus on these two so we get a more in depth look at them as a couple. I think this enhances the first full length book as this world expands. I recommend reading them all. You'll be hooked!

This is the exciting follow-up to Witch Wars, in which Anya is the main focus of the story. With two half sisters to bond with and deadly enemies after all three of them, life gets even crazier for Anya and her soulmate Kierra. Nice!

I loved the characters, the trials and the smaller conflicts that lead to the larger conflict in the end. Trials and loss heighten the reading experience and then there is plenty of Spice for those looking for that!
