EN It’s been quite a while since I read the previous volume — over 18 months — and, in these situations, getting back into the story is never easy. Still, I had a fairly decent memory of the most recent events.

One of the things that impressed me the most in the first three volumes was the variety of games the protagonists had to face during their climb up the Tower, as well as the cast of captivating characters and their interactions.

In this volume, there’s an initial focus on character development, followed by a new game which, honestly, didn’t grab me as much as the previous ones. I found it somewhat odd and lacking in meaning, but let’s see how it all plays out.

Even so, it was an engaging and enjoyable read.

As we continue to follow this argumentative but unique group of “friends” up the tower and each of these trials gets more and more strategic and challenging I’m noticing two big things I don’t like. First being Rachel, she done given me the ick and I just know she’s up to some personal shady sh*t and I’m not about it or her and the sheep tongue guy is also dark and shady too and I don’t know if they’re all in cahoots but both of them just give bad vibes all the way till Sunday.

4.5

Another fun addition to the series, I just missed some more Bam on this one, but we got enough challenges, training and daily life scenes to keep us entertained and informed.

Plus the princesses' duel was mightly entertaining, and I really enjoyed the flashback. Everything in the background of this story keeps being so mysterious, that it's always great when we get to know more of the history/story o this place.

Patiently waiting on volume 5...

Most of what would have been my review for this book is in my immediately prior review for book 3, since I read them back-to-back like I normally wouldn't so to put more variety into what I'm reading (and reviewing) at any given time. My tangental rant in that review covers some of this, too, though—oddly enough—I like this one better, and not JUST because the print quality went up...?

Thing is, had the books STARTED in this size and quality, I might have liked them more, paradoxically. The thicker volumes feel unwieldy, besides being not as pretty (though the art is only barely perceptibly better for the cover price), but this feels like the "correct" size for a 6x9" graphic novel, somehow. I don't really know how to explain it, since it's kind of silly wanting LESS of something.

Anyway, this volume covers a lot of fun parts—particularly Endorsi's and Anaak's fight, and Lero Ro (and Quant)—so I've rated it slightly higher than book 3. I don't know if I feel like getting the rest of the series, though. Sure, supporting the artist is great and all, but between buying Fast Passes (which are free for me except time spent playing questionable games) and throwing down $18.99 USD/$24.99 CAD per each, I feel like doing the former is enough, haha... Other titles, I wouldn't mind the expenditure as much.

I've been reading the webcomic Tower of God for quite some time now. So when I learned that the series was getting a physical release I've been wanting to support it. It's weird going back to the early days and seeing the beginnings of so many characters.

If you've enjoyed the series enough to get the fourth volume, this is more of the same in many ways. It maybe doesn't progress us super far in the story, but we learn a lot of background behind things like the Princesses of Jihad and Bam making new friends beyond Rachel. I almost forgot about Rachel being the main reason for Bam entering the tower in the first place.

Overall, I enjoyed the volume. As always it ends too quickly and this one also hits on a cliffhanger, so it really makes me want to get the next one.

This one was pure comedy. Shibisu is such a good and funny guy. He goes all the way for his team. And Khun...Khun is simply amazing.

Quatz never stood a chance. I wish these chapters had less roachel but unfortunately she's a main main character and she appears a lot in season 1.

Bam is for sure a lucky guy, though helped by everyone. If only they knew xD

Things are slowly falling into place. Another interesting volume though this one was less interesting than the others since it builds up the story. If Khun fails as a lightbearer (never) he can make a fortune as a script writer xD

Of course, this is just a section of story within a much bigger story. It was an interesting story, and I enjoyed the competition between the various characters. I also really liked the illustrations. I do wish that there would have been more payoff within the book, though.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this graphic novel

Was loving this series but this volume lost me a bit. I like the tests but I really rather have more time with specific character backstories. The training dialogs for this volume also didn’t grip my interest t or deepen many characters which I was really hoping for.

I’ll read the next volume when it’s released see if I can get back in it.

Information about the material suspendium and it's effects were completely absent for the anime. The Khun family is elaborated upon and it's stated Khun A.A's bag and rope were items he stole from his father's treasury.

All that team effort and for what? For Khun to betray them because he's waiting for that a specific group to climb the tower with.

This was not really a book for me, it was an adventure action but I found it to be kinda boring. There were some interesting parts but the overall story was just not for me. The art was pretty good and some of the characters were interesting.
