Rate this book
He was called to fulfill a mighty quest, filled with fierce battles.
A quest to bring hope to the kingdom…

Having narrowly escaped death at the hands of the evil Shadow Warriors, Sir Gavin is given a new name by the Prince to signify his new allegiance–to the cause of the one he once swore to kill. Called to share this message to everyone in the land of Arrethtrae, Sir Gavinaugh takes up his sword and embarks on an epic journey.

Winning hearts and minds with the power of his words and his skill with a sword, Gavinaugh travels from one end of the kingdom to the other, telling Outdwellers about the Prince, convincing them to join him. And though Gavinaugh is at times beaten, thrown in prison, or stranded far from home, the Prince himself guides his words, his sword, and his pilgrimage.

Journey to Arrethtrae, where the King and His Son implement a bold plan to save their kingdom; where courage, faith, and loyalty stand tall in the face of opposition; where good will not bow to evil–and the Prince’s chosen messenger speaks boldly of his quest.

This book is so good! I love the pacing of Black's books! His stories are so good!

Characters:
Gavinaugh is just such a good character! There is so much to look up to and aspire toward! I love his faith and commit to the Prince!
Keanna! I love her character! Her story and the power behind it!
Weston and his family are such sweet people!
Sandon cracks me up! I love him! And his sense of humor!

Themes:
God loves us and uses the pain in our lives to bring us closer to Him. He is made perfect in our weakness.
Such beautiful themes!

Language:
N/A

Romance:
Just a touch, and it's beautiful but not the main focus of the story.

Overall:
This is another great book in the Kingdom Series, and I love it so much! Those last few chapters are too...so good!

Wow!!! This was epic!!! At times it dragged just a bit, but then it always picked back up again...the ending is definitely worth reading the whole book!!! And Sandon is just such a fun side character for Gavinaugh...
"We outnumber them one to four..." Lol...Sandon just makes us laugh so hard.
And then the dynamic between Keanna and Gavinaugh is beautiful! The story behind them meeting, the forgiveness level, gonna stop there before we give a spoiler, but it is just so well done!
Thank you Chuck Black for another enjoyable read!!!

This book is one of my favorites. The story is so good. In this book you follow a knight named Sir Gavin who hated the prince and wanted to kill him and his followers but the prince says otherwise and now he is a knight of the prince.

★・・・〈 Kingdom's Quest, Kingdom Quest #5 〉・・・★

★★★★☆ The further I get into this series the more my eyes are opened to the hype this book really does deserve. If you read my first review of this series you'll know what I'm talking about, but now I think everyone should truly read this at some point or another in their life.
Why?
Because today (at least in the culture I'm surrounded by) we make it way to easy to shrug off the spiritual realm. We've forgotten that the Bible warns us there IS a battle raging that we cannot always see. Eerie as it is, the truth needs to be protected, and this book is a great resource for not only youth but those in youth spiritually.
While like every book, it has it's little faults, I highly recommend that you take a small portion of your day to open your eyes to the quest for God's kingdom in this splendid allegorical series.

⚔️ Thoughts ⚔️
⚜️ Having another female character to add to the story was amazing
⚜️ The emotions were dutifully felt 🫡
⚜️ The way the battle of the mind was ever so slightly touched on, and how the author didn't stray away from the "hard questions" of faith
⚜️ Once again, the writing wasn't as strong as I'm used to, but it's not awful enough to take any of the importance and beauty of the story

✧*̥˚ Happy Reading!! *̥˚✧

This book was good. I really like Gavinaugh's character, and I feel as though Black portrayed Paul well. However...Paul makes it pretty clear in the Bible that he's single. And wants to be, since he is all too dedicated to his cause - the Gospel. Which made the romance in this with Gavinaugh (who is supposed to be Paul) kind of bothersome for me. It really took away from the story, which was sad for me.

Other than that, the book was great! Dragons, creepy islands, dark knights, brave knights, pirates (even with boat chases!) and great sword-fighting. I loved it. Looking forward to the next one.
The whole romance thing threw me off because, up until this point, the author had stuck closely to the scriptures. Of course he took some creative liberties (it is an allegory, set in medieval times with sword-fighting instead of preaching, after all) but normally they have just been add-ons or taking a concept and portraying it with the same heart/meaning/message just with a medieval flair or the like. But this... I guess it was just a bit too far for me?

I guess my issue is in a culture that pushes romantic relationships to an extreme where you feel like something is broken or wrong with you if you aren't in a relationship, I was kind of hoping that a Christian portrayal of the Apostle that promoted singleness would go against that which our culture promotes. So in that sense, I'm a bit disappointed. I can see why he did it, for the little girls reading it...But he totally could have made Keanna a strong knight herself without the romance...just a thought.

But like I said, well-written. I liked all the characters. I liked the plot. I liked all of the aspects, minus that one. Still looking forward to reading the next book!

I surprisingly enjoyed this book. I loved seeing how Gavin's (now Gavinaugh) life had changed after accepting the prince. I also loved the additional character, Keanna. I was captivated and intrigued by her and enjoyed reading about her story. When you put those two characters together, it's magic. I was a bit annoyed near the end when there was a moment of panic at the prospect of Gavinaugh dieing, but I found I was satisfied with how Chuck Black ended things. (I won't tell you if he actually survives or not.) I truly enjoyed reading this book and Black's writings once again challenged me to live for Christ in a more real way.

Just as an added note, this book was a tad on the romantic side compared to his other books. However, it was handled beautifully, I thought. And, as usual with Chuck Black's writing, it was all kid friendly.

I liked this book more than others in the series but not quite as much as the previous book about Gavin so, technically, this book is rated at 4.5 stars.

Overall, I highly recommend this entire series to any Christian kids out there. It has a lot of great character building subjects and lessons.

Kingdom's Quest was one of my favorite books in the Kingdom Series and is for sure my favorite front cover. I loved how the cover was a very important scene in the story, and is so pretty! This was alos the longest book in the series, but still short considering the books I normally read having around 300 pages. This book is very interesting since you get to see the whole new side of Gavin, who's name was changed by the Prince to Gavinaugh at the end of the previous book, representing the allegory of Saul/Paul. It was very neat to get to see the new Gavin and meet a couple new characters along the way.

I also enjoyed seeing the relationship growth between Gavinaugh and Keanna. I'd say that so far in the series, this book had the most romance, but was on a moderate lever and very clean. I found that I kind of got attached to the characters in a way, and loved how the story played out.

This book was just like all the others in the series with new epic battle scenes, so their was some violence, which is to be expected in battles. Their was also a pretty creepy dragon which Gavinaugh gets to fight, as well as a scenes were a family is nearly hung for their belief in the Prince. So I'd probably only recommend this book to mature readers. Despite the older reader content, this book is still amazing and a great allegory of Paul's mission journeys. Once again Chuck Black has captured me in this wonderful story and left me wanting more.

The tales of Sir Gavinaugh (Paul) continue as he begins his ministry to tell the world the good news about the Prince and His power and love! Such a thrilling retelling of Paul's ministry with an inspiring faith message of God's power over the forces of darkness and sin. It's a reminder that with God nothing shall be impossible for us to face! The secondary romance story is so beautiful (with only minor things I disagreed with)...so full of the picture of Christ's love for us and the healing of forgiveness.

"'To believe in the Prince...it seems too simple, Sir Gavinaugh." Gavinaugh smiled. "It is the simplest and the hardest thing you will ever do.'"

"There is a kingdom waiting for those who believe, where there will be no more sorrow, no more pain. If the pain we suffer brings us to that understanding and belief, then we are victorious."

*Note: This story is a little darker than others with the shadow warriors, a dragon, lot's of fighting scenes, and a "roman arena" of sorts. I don't recommend for the more sensitive of children.

I think this book is my favorite in the series now! There's so much awesome about it, and it's a tad longer than the other books. The romance between Gavinaugh and Keena was a complete surprise as Paul in the Bible never married, but it worked in this story, worked really well actually. Gavinaugh and Keena's relationship played a large role in the plot, and I loved how the Prince was centered around them. I don't know if Keena is suppose to represent anything or anyone from the Bible, but her addition to the story was fantastic. I loved seeing Gavinaugh as a new man in this story too.~ WAH, Why are these characters so awesome?

I really liked chapter 14.~ <3

The title of my book is Kingdom’s Quest book 5, The author is Chuck Black. The main character is Gavinaugh, It first takes place in “Chessington”.He is on a quest to save a woman from the “Dark Knights”, and return her home, In order to do that, they have to defeat foes who come in there path. My summary is that Gavinaugh is a Great Noble Knight that protects everyone or anything in Chessington.
The events that happen during Gavinaughs quest is, They end up losing the woman in battle against some Dark Knights, They end up finding her but she refuses to come back to them cause she thinks they left her to die, Gavinaugh talks her into coming back to us and apologizing, Then they end up going back to the woman’s shaft with her family, but as soon as they got all comfortable and happy the Dark Knights raided their shaft and took them to there “Dungeon” to keep them as prisoners in their Cells. So the governor of the town there came inside to meet these adventurers, but the guard Lamp light turned off, so the governor was angry and yelled out “DON’T JUST STAND THERE, GET ANOTHER ONE”, so the guard went to go get another light, then, out of know where a Knight blew off the light again and said “Let them go” in a very deep voice, then the governor got scared like something was going to devour him, so he said “Let them go”. After leaving the Dungeon. The knight was Gavinaughs best friend, the knight said “I’ve come here to give you a message. “You must travel to Thecia to return the woman to her rightful home”. So the next morning they headed to Thecia, They said it took them a day to get to Thecia. In Thecia, A little boy names “Julian” said “you must obviously be a knight, you must be here for the tournament”, then Gavinaugh said, “no, but what is this tournament?” Julian explained, and said you fight to the death in the last battle against the “Unknown Lord”, only people that are worthy to fight the “unknown lord” is able to beat him. So he won every single fight, but almost lost is 9th match against the 4-time tournament winner, but won by backstabbing him with his knife. Then the next round was “The Fight To The Death”, He saw the “Unknown lord” and fought against him. He tried and tried but still gotten a hit on the lord. So he almost gave up but, he saw Julian and the Women cheering him on, so he got up on his feet, and sliced both of his legs, making him kneel on his knees, and Gavinaugh showed no mercy, Then killed him. My reflection on this book is incredible that they make real things in history into a book, And I also suggest you try reading the series, Trust Me, It’s an awesome series. The reason why I chose to read the series was, I like Knights, there awesome Prehistoric human beings. The books are easy to readjust give it at least 5 days and you’ll be done with the book. My favorite part was when the tournament started, it was awesome reading it and picturing it at the same exact time. The author’s style of writing this book is cool, He writes perfectly, and makes the words look like old-time words if that’s not confusing.

Sir Gavin is a Knight, powerful and strong but lacking purpose. His story begins when he spends time with the Prince, who renames him Sir Gavinaugh. The Prince then charges Sir Gavinaugh with the task of going out into the world to spread the message of hope to all in the land of Arrethtrae.

Each chapter is a tale of his journey, his meeting new friends, and impressing them with his testimony of the Prince. These new friends in each area become founders of Havens in their cities to teach others the use of the sword to battle the Shadow Warriors who are evil and blinding people to their true purpose in life.

Gavinaugh falls in love with Keanna, a gentle heart that is tempered by nightmares of when her parents were killed and the Knight Sir Gavin who did nothing to stop the slaughter. Her mind was bent on revenge when they first met. It took some time and a change of heart for Sir Gavinaugh to convince her of the way of the Prince.

The climactic chapter is when the evilest Shadow Warrior who had captured Keanna as a child, now recaptures her. Sir Gavinaugh and his remarkable steed Triumph chase after the brute to rescue her. They return to the home of the Shadow Warrior where he has a dragon. The battle scene is fierce and Keanna fights to help Sir Gavinaugh thwart their foe. The dragon wounds Gavinaugh mortally. Friends offer to take him to be healed. He is determined to stay with Keanna, for however long he lives.

This book is part of a series. This is book five and it does work as a stand-alone volume. Chuck Black is a Christian and his stories resemble biblical stories that he is putting into words for the gaming generation to relate to. It's well written and drawn on personal experiences and the bible passages reimagined.

This book was just as good as the other preceding books.

What a neat way to make multiple Bible stories come together as one big storyline. I did not see the plot twist that carried throughout the entire book, until the twist was dropped on me.

I am also a sucker for a little romance, so I enjoyed the classic "every Knight needs his princess to save," aspect of the story. Definitely a good read.

Happy Reading!

As a kid, this was my favorite of the Kingdom books, probably because the love interest is the only woman with any personality in the series.

This book suffers the same pacing issues as the others, with the added bonus of like... 5 new villains popping out of the woodwork only to be defeated in a single paragraph.
