The fog that trapped the people of Hutton's Bridge for eighty years has disappeared, but now so have the villagers.
Fearing the worst, Tressa and Bastian must navigate a new and dangerous world in search of their people. Among their allies are a healer, a warrior, and even a dragon—but their enemies are far greater.
Hutton’s Bridge has long protected a powerful secret, one the dragonlords will kill to control. As the realms rise, Tressa and Bastian risk everything to save their people, until one must make the ultimate sacrifice.

Love that this book continues right where the last one left off since the first book had me SO enthralled that I just HAD to read the 2nd one the second I finished the first one! The story has a little bit of everything, mystery, dragons, fantasy, love, betrayal, and most of all; a UNIQUE storyline that leaves you excited and wondering "what's going to happen next?!?!"
I highly recommend this series and have started following Megg Jenson to see what other jems she has in store for me.
***Read an eARC copy of the book in exchange for an honest review***
This book was amazing! It starts right where the last one left off and you are immediately draw into the story. Each chapter focuses on a different character so we get to see the events unfold from all sides. Which I really like; since you are able to see everything going on, things don't happen where you question it. I will admit that there were times where I did get a bit confused as to what was happening due to the switching of characters but not very often, (only a few times).
This book is everything I was hoping for since the last one left me with many questions and wondering what would happen next. New characters are introduced, things were explained, questions were answered but then new questions were made :) This series seems to have it all, everything from fantasy, love, betrayal, and action.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who read and enjoyed the first one and if you haven't read it yet: READ IT!
4 1/2 - this shall require some recovery time. #AuthorsAreEvil
I received Hunted in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Okay… I really did need some recovery time before I could review this one. So much happened that I’m not really sure where to start. I’m also going to apologize in advance for any vagueness. Megg Jensen took so many twists, turns and… well, you’ll just have to read Hunted to understand. Once you do you’ll forgive me, I promise.
Hunted takes up pretty much where Hidden left off. Bastian and Tressa are separated, but still working toward the same goal… to get to the people that they left behind. They were sheltered in Hutton’s Bridge and every day aspects of the outside world are revealed.
The world that Megg Jensen has created in her Dragonlands series is epic. It’s magical, full of wonder as well as deceit, violence and mystery. There are so many secrets revealed, startling revelations and ‘I can’t believe that actually happened’ moments that it was hard to keep up. I loved every minute of it…. well… almost.
Hunted was basically an emotional whirlwind. There were times that I knew exactly where I wanted the characters to end up and then things would change. My perspective would change. Basically I’d just throw my hands up and trust the author to work things out… but it was hard.
Hunted was full of action, suspense and heartbreak. There was a fine line between good and evil, but there were also characters that were worthy of no redemption at all. The author held nothing back and by the end I both loved and hated her for it. *sigh*
The next book can’t come soon enough. Thins were left in turmoil at the end of Hunted. Progress was made and some things were settled but even more was left uncertain. Let’s just say that Megg Jensen wins the ‘Authors Are Evil’ crown for the week.
Let me just start off by saying that I am a huge Megg Jensen fan. I have read everything she has written and loved every bit of it. This series is more adult in nature than most of the others and it is MUCH darker. I love every single moment of it!
Hunted is the second in the Dragonlands series, following Hidden. I loved Hidden, but I think I loved Hunted even more! The book begins essentially just after the first book ends. All of our favorite characters are back, at least the ones that are still alive!
I love that Megg is not afraid of turning things upside down, making the things we want to happen impossible. It turns the story on end and keeps it fascinating. There are twists and turns throughout the book. There are so many secrets revealed, revelations that are completely unexpected and that change absolutely everything. There were so many moments when I was sure I knew what was going to happen, moments when I thought for sure certain characters were going to do what I wanted them to do and them WHAM! She changes everything and everything becomes fabulous in a new way!
Things to love...
--The suspense and anticipation! --The characters. Good or bad, they were real, even in unbelievable moments. --The no-holds-barred story lines!
My Recommendation: Absolutely a must read, after Hidden. Fantastic read and I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK!
I received this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review.
WOW! The first book in this series, Hidden, is really good but this book blows that one out of the water. It is an excellent follow up although I warn you that it has a killer cliff-hanger ending.
This story does follow on from Hidden so I definitely recommend you read that first or you simply won't have a clue what is happening in here. For those that have read it, I can say that the story continues to move forward in such a way that will amaze and astound. The characters are growing and changing whilst the plot thickens. I especially loved the character development of Tressa and Bastian. This felt completely natural considering that they are meeting new people for the first time in their lives.
So many twists and turns in this story and I won't even try to explain any of them. Suffice it to say that I now have lots of questions that were answered from book 1 but I now have more from book 2 that are still unanswered. I'm waiting for book 3 very impatiently!
(ps - as an aside, I just wanted to say that I LOVE the book cover!)
A fantastic read yet again, the characters getting more stronger, to a point where you actually, feel you know them... can't wait to get stated on book 3
After finishing book 1 of the series, I immediately began on book 2. I was so glad that I had the first three books in one, because it didn't mean having to wait for the next one to be released. I was able to jump right in where I left off, which I did immediately and without reservation.
Just like book 1, I felt that book 2 was absolutely amazing. It picked up right where book 1 ended, which is great because I hate when a book ends with a cliffhanger and I wanted to know what was going to happen next. As with the first, I was again quickly drawn in to the story, wondering what was coming next since the author is so good at the plot twists and throwing the unexpected at you, what was going on as I got answers to things that weren't necessarily revealed in the first book, and what would happen next with the characters that I had quickly come to love so much. Being introduced to new characters that quickly took major roles in the story was a surprise to me, but they made their roles apparent and I was amazed at how seamlessly she was able to introduce and work in new people to the storyline.
As I have said before, Jensen has a true talent for writing. She is a master storyteller and weaves a spellbinding tale with her words. Such imaginative creativity, plot twists I didn't see coming, and amazing attention to detail. Very impressive!
This is a series you will want to read ALL of at once. It has taken me about 2 weeks to get through all five books, the last 2 of which I had to purchase to finish the story. But with each book I was further drawn in to the story and was unable to put them down, finding myself reading late in to the night and every chance I could grab in between the busy go go go of my life.
Another must read and one that will captivate you from the start! You will want to read these books in order, though I am sure you could pick up any book in the series and find it just as captivating as a stand alone. There may be a little confusion, but overall you should be able to keep up with what is going on. But you get so much more from reading the entire series in order.
I have to say that this wasn't as good as Hidden. The special quality that made the prequel so engaging was missing. The plot was flat - all the action and intrigue I loved in the first book just wasn't there. It was too jumpy and seemed a little unorganised. I had no idea where it was going, and while I appreciate the unpredictability, it just wasn't consistent enough. I did, however, enjoy learning more about the kingdom and the Sands and all the different cultures and dragon lore and everything.
The characters, again, while I still love them, made a lot of decisions I wasn't happy with and just didn't stay true to the characters we met in Hidden. I wasn't on board with the direction of the romance and to be honest I really just don't like any of the couple combinations any more.
Hunted wasn't what I was hoping it would be and am a little disappointed that it didn't live up to the standard of the prequel. I want more of Tressa's story though, and can only hope that this suffered from Middle Book Syndrome - meaning that Retribution will be much better.

As the story continues- Tressa has defeated the blue dragon with the help of another blue dragon (her friend Connor) and her village love Bastian. She is trying to save the rest of their village. A village that has been held by the fog since her grandmother was 13 and had awaken to a world where all the adults were gone. Only the children younger than her were left. In this book you find what has happened to the three sent out to try to escape the fog.. something done each year but no one has ever made it back. Now Conner, Bastian, and Tressa are on their journey. They will think one is dead, one injured and one seems to always be leaving. Each will make their own journey finding friends who will help them. You will meet Jarret (head guard for the gold dragon) ,Elinor (a young healer). When they all get together for a battle you will find out more about Bastian's mother, Tressa's father and Connor's wife Hazel and their two sons. They will discover what has happened to the rest of the people from the village. Because of an accident they will only find a few to save.
It's too bad that Bastian and Tressa can't seem to spend enough time together for each one to find out what the other one's up to and the motives behind their actions. They are both on the same mission - to discover what happened to the residents of the village - but go about their searches in different ways.
Poor, poor Connor. I fear he may never be able to recall the man he used to be but will be trapped in his current existence forever. He doesn't seem to regret it as his focus is on the baby dragon and remaining eggs he feels so protective of but it's hard for the other two to accept.
Jarrett and the Elinor become more involved in the story. The yellow dragon queen's jealousy creates an interesting scenario. What's with all the interest in the honey?
I enjoyed this book even more than Hidden and am looking forward to volume three.
3.55 I am so glad this was on offer on Bookbub. One of my fears is that I won't be able to read some authors because they are not mentioned enough, Meg has done a great job. Will definitely be finishing the series.
Prose/ Voice (0.6): It just feels like a weird fantasy book without the ancient medieval language and sometimes I wished it had more description. Characters (0.65): Good characters, not really in love with anyone. World (0.6): Also wished it had m ore description, I have the basic idea of each world. Story (0.8): Very original, almost GOT like (have not read many fantasies so I compare it to the show). Action packed and not predictable. Enjoyment/ Message (0.9): I really enjoyed this book during my Easter trip. I am surprised at how much the story improved since the first book.
Disappointing--the world building is quite weak and the series from here devolves into a soap opera. I liked the first book, and expected that once they were out of the mist that the world would both expand and get filled in. Ended up not liking the characters much, and there are so many questions that aren't answered by the end of the book--not just not answered, but not even asked. What happened to the blue dragons? No one seems to think it is weird, or much of a problem, that there is only one.
Sexual torture and mutilation with sadism in a YA book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It wasn't carried through, but it might as well have since the torture device was raised in front of the half naked woman with every intention of carrying through before it was interrupted. Then there was a memory erasure which for me is mind rape. I hate mind rape as much as any plot device in fiction.
What are we coming to? I would expect such from the likes of GoT, but a YA book?
Hunted by Megg Jensen is a compelling story about Hutton's Bridge and dragons.
I received a complimentary Kindle copy of Hunted by Megg Jensen in an Amazon promotion. That did not change my opinion for this review. I gave it four stars.
"The fog that trapped the people of Hutton's Bridge for eighty years has disappeared, but now so have the villagers."
As it contenues in the same style, you are pulled further into the world, never knowing what is happening next. The carrosel of going up and down in this book has truly earned the first place in being unexpected among the books I have read.
So if you don't wish to be able to guess the ending and like fantasi and dragons, I would recommend the book :)
This was a decent second book. I do not really like the characters there is not enough of the changes they go though. The love stories are annoying they almost ruin it for me. The story itself it decent which is why it gets three stars but over all I was not invested in the characters or their quest. I don't like the dragons and how they fit into the world.
Something Different, though everything still seems to happen a little too fast for my liking. Reading the 3rd book now so hopefully things will start to slow down and make a little more sense. Overall, these have been good books so far.
Just when I thought things couldn't get any crazier! I'm thinking I'd I we're Tressa, I'd scoop up Jarrett and go live with the green dragons and be done with all this. But, alas, she must see it through! Onto the next book!
Well sh*t. Now I have to read the next one. This book had me in its grip and didn't let go until the end :D So many new characters and all the dragons from the Dragonland pops up in this book, super curious about the black dragons.
This book started off better than where the first book ended. Eventually it went off into the weeds. The author was pushing too many subplots and evil plans. One subplot headed down into sadomasochisms, I just couldn't continue and shelved it.
Really good book and easy to follow story. Got a little bored part way through as the story seems to get interesting and then drop off. However when the book was interesting it had everything and at a few key moments I was genuinely shocked of the outcomes.
I liked this one better than the first one in the series. Now I'm invested in the characters! And either im getting used to the style of writing or it's gotten better.
