A Lycan, a Vampire, and a Warlock stumble into a Witch.

Andromeda Delacroix’s uncomplicated life has been written in the stars since before she was born. Marry the man chosen for her by her family. Succeed her mother as High Priestess of the Delacroix Coven. Preside over all Preternaturals of New Orleans.

But when her sister falls prey to a mysterious illness and a beloved member of the Lycans is brutally murdered, her priorities take a dramatic turn. Solve a murder. Save her baby sister. Finally come into her own magic. Fight her forbidden feelings for not one, but two—maybe three?—powerful men.

Silvan, the great-nephew of the murdered Lycan, becomes an unlikely ally in her quest to save her sister, despite that fraternizing between Preternaturals is expressly off-limits. Equally so is the strange, ethereal bond she’s already forming with Bastian, the Vampire King. And Dane, the warlock she’s been promised to, isn’t quite the little rule follower she pegged him to be.

But all the hot Preternaturals in the world can’t solve what’s broken inside of her. Her Candescence is late. She feels defective. Abandoned by fate. What is a witch without powerful magic?

As the clock ticks down, Romy must decide if duty and desire can exist together, but first, she’ll have to dig deep within herself to find what’s blocked her Candescence.

Oh, and the Lycan, Vampire, and Warlock who adore her?

All sworn enemies.

Things just got complicated.

Silvan is the first book in the Complicated Romantic Life of Romy Delacroix trilogy, a Why Choose paranormal romance where all your favorite supernatural daddies find themselves in the orbit of one very lucky witch.

I flew through this because I couldn’t put it down. I thought the writing creative and alluring. I. Am. So. Excited. About. The next book. This wasn’t a cliffhanger per se, but I’m dying to know where this is going.
I had no idea it would encapsulate all of my favorite themes. Witches, Lycan and Vampires, yes please! And there was also fairies and elves! I also thought from the blurb that this might be a love triangle but it’s so much more. More than just love going on here and I’m not even going to try to explain it. I found every character fascinating, unique and complex. I loved it and highly recommend it.
Thanks eArc team and Luna Blooms I loved it.

A fast-paced paranormal romance, Silvan follows protagonist Romy as she works to solve a murder that threatens the tentative peace in the supernatural community and saves her dying sister. Silvan is a why choose romance and the first in a series, and in this book, we are introduced to the major characters and love interests of Romy, all of whom are very different.

I thought this was a strong introduction to the series. Dark, mysterious, and romantic, the story is entertaining and engrossing. And the romance is filled with chemistry and sexual tension. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about Silvan. He has a very strong personality and is aggressive and a bit hot-headed at times. However, when he meets Romy, he falls in lust at first sight, and that quickly develops into much more. I like that we see many layers to his, and Romy’s character.
Both have a strong sense of duty and loyalty, and they are both really passionate about the people and things important to them.

We also meet Remy’s two other love interests – Bastian and Dane. Dane is a warlock and her betrothed, though theirs is an arranged marriage, and Bastian is a vampire who only communicates with Remy telepathically. I’m super curious about him and am eager to learn more about his story. I’m also interested to see how these strong alpha males all deal with caring for the same woman. Romy is so confused and conflicted, as she likes all of them equally. What’s a girl to do? Lol

The mystery is intriguing, too, with a few twists I didn’t expect. There’s a good amount of suspense and political intrigue involved, and it was interesting to see Romy, an heir who hasn’t had much leadership experience in her coven, step up and take a leading role in the investigation and in meetings, which are generally run by her mother. I’m excited to read more of Romy’s story!

This is book 1 in the Complicated Romantic Life of Romy Delacroix. these books are meant to be read in order. This story contains adult themes and should be read by 18+.

Our main Character is Romy Delacroix who is the daughter of the Leader of the Preternatural Council who also happens to be a very powerful witch. They oversee the political issues that other supernatural creatures might have. Like a government for them. The problem is that something is happening and there is trouble within the ranks of the vampires and the Werewolves. Several murders have taken place and the council is responsible for the investigation. Romy is thrust into the middle of it and meets Silvan, the son of the Alpha and soon to be leader of the Werewolves. Romy has an immediate attraction to him but it is forbidden for to mix the races. Their relationship is complicated but he chooses to come and help her with a very serious problem that only the werewolves can fix. Romy must decide if rules will outweigh the feelings she has for Silvan or will she give in to her desires.

This story introduces us to all of the upcoming characters within the world that River Chastain has built. We have Silvan, the Alphas son, We have Bastian, the vampire accused of all kinds of bad things and then we have Dane, the sweet, nerdy warlock who has fallen for Romy. I fell in love with each character for different reasons and I am looking forward to seeing how this why-choose will play out. We also have an underlying mystery thrown into the mix that kept my interest. I enjoyed this fast paced book and recommend to those that love the paranormal romances with a bit of mystery and spice thrown in. I give this one 4.5 stars but have rounded up.

As a huge fan of ½ of the River Chastain duo, I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book. It’s a bit different from what I expected. I’ve gotten used to phenomenal world-building of fantastical places, but this book didn’t need that quite so much. Sure, it involves the paranormal, but they still appear in the world as we know it. There’s a familiarity to that that’s comforting.

On the other hand, there are some things in this story that would scare the poop out of me if they existed in this world. For example, there are “insects” called branka that guard the fenrir rose, and these creatures are horrifying. They’re about half a foot in diameter and camouflage themselves. They resemble wasps, have stingers the size of an adult snake fang, and a horn like a rhinoceros beetle. If that’s not clear enough, at one point an attacking branka is described as the size of a house cat. Unfortunately, that’s not the worst of the creatures encountered by Romy and Silvan.

The story is told from the alternating POVs of Silvan and Adromeda “Romy.” Because it’s called Silvan, you can expect Silvan to be the first character introduced. We immediately get a sense of his personality—brash, righteous, straightforward, and fair. He has some preconceptions about the witches, but when he first sees Romy, those go out the window. In fact, he becomes obsessed, and then angry that he can’t stop fantasizing about her. When reflecting upon this, he decides this is “Un. Acc. Cept. A. Ble,” which I thought was an excellent example of how punctuation can guide the reader to read things the way the writer intended.

Romy is not the “royalty” he expects her to be. Her mother Cassia is the head of the preternatural council and Romy is her chosen succeeder, but Romy has not yet exhibited any magical abilities and feels like an imposter. She comes across as impulsive and immature, which may be a consequence of feeling like an imposter—or vice versa. She is betrothed to Dane, a warlock from another Coven, and although she’s not thrilled about the idea of getting married to someone she doesn’t even know, she is loyal to her coven and willing to do what is necessary. When she meets Dane, he admits he feels the same way, so they have that in common. She finds the thought of building a life with him is not as objectionable as she expected.

The first time she sees Silvan, she’s overtaken by a lust she’s never felt before. He’s a lycan and his animal magnetism is strong, so she can’t stop thinking about him. Until she also “meets” Bastian, the vampire. Why do I have “meets” in quotation marks? Because she only sees him from a distance and they communicate telepathically. That said, she feels a very strong connection to him and feels they’ve always known one antoehr. And when we eventually get inside of Bastian’s head, in the epilogue, we learn it’s true. She comes back to him in every reincarnation. Meanwhile he lives on, forever searching for her. Ever the romantic, I loved the idea of this.

Equally drawn to both Silvan and Bastian, both of whom are forbidden to her, and finding she actually likes Dane and finds him attractive, Romy is very conflicted. She wants all three, and they seem amenable to that, but her coven (and for that matter, the rest of the preternatural community) would never allow that. The setup is one that leaves me wanting to read more.

Add into the mix that there’s a potential traitor in their midst, trying to distract and cause harm, but to whom and why we don’t know, and you have a plot that leaves me wanting to read more. This story ends much too quickly for me. If I could pick up the next book right now, I would. In fact, now that I think about it, this book would probably best be sold as a complete set with the two books still to come.

I honestly had no idea what to expect going into this story and was pleasantly surprised! The preternatural world in New Orleans get shaken up by a Lycan murdered by a vamp. The High Priestess of the Delacroix Coven must take things into her own hands to keep peace between the factions and prevent a horrific war like the ones of years past. So why does she force Romy, her heir who has yet to come into her powers, to step into her place when things are most volatile? And Romy has other concerns to take care of that take precedence over the New Orleans Preternaturals.

Romy’s love life is a whole different story. An insane attraction to not only a lycan, but a vamp who cannot even speak to her starts to complicate things. Throw in the sweet match her parents have made for her and she doesn’t even know what’s up and what’s down. Mixing between preternatural creatures is forbidden, yet her attractions keep getting stronger.

I thoroughly enjoyed the development of the magical world in Sylvan. I found myself drawn to the inter workings of the magical society and desperately wanting to know what happens next. We’re left with tons of unanswered questions that will make the wait for book two unbearable!

One thing that shocked me right off the bat was how descriptive any intimate scenes/moments/thoughts were. Nothing was left to the imagination. While pertinent to some scenes and the traits of the characters, other scenes came off almost as vulgar. Maybe it was due to not “knowing” the characters well enough at that point but it seemed almost too much too soon for shock value. While I am perfectly happy to read smut in books, these scenes may be off-putting to others. The overlying story I believe makes up for these plot points that may not fully add to the story (some definitely do, others seemed superfluous and unnecessary).

Overall, I enjoyed the story and can’t wait to see what Romy and the others get up to in book two!

A new story with new hopes, new mystery and new tragedies. This RH is really going to blow your mind. The slow burn romance with so much happening around the characters kept me going further and further, to finally DEVOURING the book. The authors did an amazing work in creating a world I would like to visit again and again. It’s ADDICTING.

Romy is fabulous with all her insecurities and the feisty nature she shows sometimes. I like her as Andromeda more and refer to her with that name. The road she takes creates more mesmerising path, that ultimately spiced up everything.

Silvan is wow and a werewolf. He is someone I would like to be by my side, so him being mature at the end and supporting things against his nature is fantastic. He is very promising.

Bastian is the best, I love him the most so far and I want more of him. He is a mystery which will be solved in the next book but that mystery is enticing in itself. I love vampires and everything about him intrigues me.

Dane is The Mr Nerd in the group and I can feel that he will be the Mr Dependable too. Initially I didn’t see him in the picture but as I moved further I could really see him fitting in the scene.

Ok ladies, you caught me! This was an incredibly fast-paced, tense, magic filled adventure! While I will say I would have loved this to be about 100 pages longer to get more of the world building and character development pieces, I truly didn't find them lacking at all. It just makes me more excited for the next 2 books.

This book centers around Romy, starting to come into her own, and Silvan the outspoken wolf Heir. We do get to meet Dane and Bastian in this as well, but they play more of the supporting roles. I did love the coven background and the explanation of the hierarchy in their preternatural society and the fact that it was based in New Orleans was superb!

While the actual physical spice in this is at the end. There are lovely explicit descriptions of everyone's desire and wants starting very early on 🤭.

Overall was very happy with a very quick read that has me waiting for the next one!

The complicated life of Romy Delacroix is one you do not want to miss.
So much spice, mystery, and supernaturals.
The story starts with the description of some very important supernaturals. The Lycans, Vampires, witches, as well as many other preternaturals.
Romy, a witch, is an heir to a very powerful witch coven and betrothed to a Warlock of the family’s choosing.
Romy’s life becomes more complicated when the lines of desire are crossed by her and other supernaturals..
I highly recommended this story.

This fast paced PNR awakened my senses with a unique blend of mystery, magic, desire and high stakes action. A guaranteed entertaining intro to the Romy Delacroix Saga.

Silvan the debut novel by the dynamic duo that is River Chastain has strong, likeable characters that have complicated interpersonal relationships. I dig the hierarchy aspect of the Preternaturals and am excited to see what’s in store for Romy and her crew.

Romy had a certain air to her…virginal yet experienced and that mystery is further explored when you see her interactions with the preternatural men that she crosses paths with. I loved that readers are taken along Romy’s journey of self discovery and I just anticipate that with each book, Romy will gain a bit more of herself to love.

What’s more, I just love Romy and Thora’s big/little sister bond. Unconditional love plays a big part in this story as Romy is pushed out of her comfort zone to risk everything to obtain what’s needed to save her baby sister and to ultimately try to induce her candescence. Upon reflection, that’s lots of growth in such a short amount of time.

Silvan shined as alpha in Book 1 and I’m enjoying the dynamic between Bastian and Silvan. I feel their bond will be further solidified with Romy in the mix. Seeing Silvan go feral over Romy really drives the fated mates trope home!

If you love,

Andromeda Delacroix - Let's say she's definitely not your saint little girl, even tho she is a virgin. I enjoyed her character a lot. I enjoyed the fact that even tho she's a virgin in the story her behavior was definitely NOT virgin, and I liked the way she wasn't ashamed of her sexuality, on the contrary, she was embracing it to the max, and extra, she was kind of a perv, this time the girl is the one with questionable behaviour but in the world she's living in, there's no surprise!
Silvan - He's exactly how you'd expect him to be, loud, the bad guy and definitely not a saint. The flame between him and Andromeda was quick and fiery and I enjoyed it because it was such a controversial relationship since both of them are different.

⮞ 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝-𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 ⮜
The world-building isn't the main point of the story, but you do have useful information about the world, where you are, how things look and some things are more creepy than others so the details offered are really great.

⮞ 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐝/𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐝 ⮜
The story is short, fast-paced and full of tumultuous events, forbidden love and a lot of mystery that will make you question things and have all the feels, and definitely will make you turn page by page to find out what's yet to happen. I loved the story and devoured it as quickly as possible, and I'm SO excited knowing what's going to happen in the next book especially since Bastian is the quite guy, but definitely not the saint guy :>.

⮞ 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐞/TW ⮜
The book is not clean romance, there's high spice level and detailed sex scene.

(3.75 ⭐️) I had so much fun with this that I read it all in one sitting 😳. This gave me such strong Twilight energy in the best way possible. I would call this a much more interesting and sexy version of Twilight, but there’s definitely similar energy there.

Now I don’t just say that because this is essentially an introduction into a romance involving a vampire, a werewolf, and a more “naive” MFC. This was written in a really addicting, early 2000s paranormal romance style that I found really nostalgic. This is definitely for the girlies who loved all the media fitting that vibe (TVD, Black Dagger Brotherhood, True Blood, etc.) and that is me, I am girlies. I would also add that I think this first book in this new series introduced a lot of world building and magical elements that I think could be really interesting. There’s also that “why choose” tease that’s really intriguing…Excited to see where this goes!!

While this wasn’t perfect by any means and I found it to be written in a more YA style (minus the smutty stuff) than I would usually like, I had a blast reading this and can’t wait to continue with the series.

I absolutely tore through this book. Silvan is very fast paced and can easily be binged in a day. It had me pulled right in and I couldn't put it down. I lovelovelove paranormal romance! And this isn't just any paranormal romance, it's a why choose paranormal romance! You either love it or you don't, and I for one am all here for it! There's dark magic and a very interesting cast of characters. There's witches, vampires, shifters, and more! We have our fmc witch Andromeda, and her three love interests: our bad boy wolf shifter Silvan, sensitive and mysterious vampire Bastian, and hot nerdy warlock Dane. I'm looking forward to getting to know them all a lot more! Another character I'm quite fond of is Romys little sister, Thora. She brings some light into this dark story.
I really enjoyed tearing through this book, I do find myself wishing that it were a bit longer though. It was a little too fast paced. Either way, I still enjoyed it and cannot wait for book 2! I'm eager to know what happens next!

I love Romy with Silvan and I love her with Dean. He’s not in it much but I felt more chemistry with her and Dean than I did with her and Bastian. I don’t want to see him go; I want something to work out with those three. I think since Bastian isn’t able to speak to her, which is a really cool idea, I’ve never read a book where vampires can easily control witches by speaking; it’s why I don’t care for him much. He does get his own POV at the end, so I hope he’s more involved in the next book. Romance aside, kind of, I love that Silvan was there with Romy when she finally came into her power, but there is more than just romance in this story. You’re left wanting more with this mystery going on, who is the trader, is it her coven or someone else, why are they doing this, and what’s going to happen to Thora? We do get to see Romy start to grow and get more confidence in herself and I hope that continues with the rest of the series. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys steamy paranormal romances.

This is the first installment of the "Complicated Romantic Life of Romy Delacroix" trilogy, where I immersed myself in Andromeda Delacroix's enchanting world. As a powerful witch facing a predetermined destiny, Romy's life takes an unexpected turn when her sister falls ill, and a Lycan is brutally murdered. The plot unfolds with a tantalizing blend of mystery and romance, weaving together the forbidden connections Romy shares with Silvan, the Lycan, Bastian, the Vampire King, and Dane, the Warlock. Despite being sworn enemies, the trio becomes integral to Romy's intricate journey. River Chastain skillfully introduces a paranormal realm rich with witches, Lycans, Vampires, fairies, and elves. The narrative, laced with explicit scenes, captivates with its fast-paced storytelling. It leaves me eagerly anticipating the sequel to unravel the unanswered questions and explore the depths of Romy's magical world.

This is a paranormal romance that will leave you needing more. I think that Romy is a relatable character, especially concerning her fears and worries about navigating the rest of her life. I mean if I was thrust into High Priestess Position I would Sh*t myself. We definitely get the most interaction with Silvan (I mean Duh, the title) but there are also cute tidbits that point to what we can expect in future novels. Bastian is the classic tall dark and broody character, while I am super excited to see Dane and Romy’s relationship evolve. The plot moved a little too fast for my liking, but my main complaint is the backstory of the town and the worldbuilding was rushed.

Overall I thought that It was a good book, and I am looking forward to reading the next books in the complicated romantic life of Romy Delacroix’s series.

While it took me a beat to get into this story, it was worth the wait.

After a mysterious killing, the preternaturals are up in arms and pointing fingers. The Delacroix Coven presides over the preternatural in New Orleans, to which Romy is the next high priestess. She’s now being brought into the fold as meetings for this killing are held…and she is in the company of men who are off-limits, yet can’t escape her mind…

Romy is waiting for her powers to come in but still preparing for her next role as high priestess. That aside, she’s very strong, but wonders about a good leader given her limited magical abilities. Silvan is an alluring lycan who catches her eye. Son of the pack leader, he’s also a part of coven meetings…and Romy features heavily in his mind. I love who these characters can’t get each other out of their head.

This was a unique story infused with why choose, supernaturals, slow burn, and mystery. I’m excited to see where it will go in the next installment.

New paranormal romance? Yes please! Silvan took me on a journey into a world of magic and supernatural beings. This story focuses on Romy, a young witch who finds herself entangled in a mysterious web as she tries to save her sister and unravel the mystery behind a murder that threatens the supernatural community.

One of the things that drew me into this book was the why choose aspect. I am in my why choose era and I am loving it. The first book focuses on Romy’s connection with Silvan our shifter but we get to see the growth of her connection to Bastain our vampire and Dane our warlock.

I thoroughly enjoyed Silvan and would highly recommend it to paranormal romance and why choose fans. With its engaging characters, intriguing storyline, mysteries, and just the right amount of spice, this book is sure to satisfy readers looking for an exciting.

I absolutely loved reading about Romy, Silvan, Bastian, and Dane.

Andromeda's life is truly complicated. She hasn't candescence yet. Shes been brought in to the ceremonies due to a summons by the Rincewin pack and a murder of one of their own. She's sees Silvan and Bastian for the first time and knows with some doubt that they are both meant for her. Feelings for both of them in different ways start to manifest. Then comes Dane, the Warlock. The one promised to her by the Coven. One not of their own choosing. When her sister becomes sick with a mysterious illness, Silvan and Bastian come to her aid. And in a way, so does Dane. They save Thora and bring to light some other mysteries that need to be solved.

In the end, Silvan and Romy seal their relationship, and Bastian too from the shadows. Where will their story take us next?

This paranormal romance book was amazing! I was able to speed read right through it and enjoyed every minute of it. If you are looking for a book with a lot of world building and such this may not be quite the book you are looking for, it does have some though, just not like a Sarah J. Maas book, but everything outside of that was amazing!!!

I loved how the FMC embraced her feelings and knows what she wants. I loved the strong will she had. I truly enjoyed this story and can't wait to see where the future books go.

I highly recommend this book and want all readers to know it is an 18+ book. I give this book a 5/5 stars and highly recommend the read.

Very new adult.
Loved the mystery, not so much the pacing of what is going on.

Romy is also worldly sheltered, one would even say naïve and she is not witchy enough for me.

While I appreciate the book wasn't censored in speech, like no one was saying heavens to Betsy, Silvan was unnecessarily cursing/vulgar and it didn't really serve any great purpose other that showing him as this wild, backwoods wolf as compared to the more 'cultured' Bastian and Dane.

I appreciate that it was short, it kept my interest but not enough for me to go on with Bastian's and Dane's eventual books.

Absolutely loved this!!! What could be better than a witch falling for a wolf, vampire and a warlock? Nothing that’s what. This was a quick easy read full of intrigue and spice 🔥 I love how each book will focus on one of the guys while also setting us up for what I think is gonna be a shocker of a reveal.

This book is like a murder mystery meets smutty romance 🥰 Perfection 👌

I was lucky enough to receive an arc of the book so thank you to the authors and Luna blooms pa.

I am hooked after this first book. I can't wait to learn more about Silvan (shifter), Bastian (Vampire) and Dane (Warlock). As well as see the group dynamics. There is a mystery of death in the pack... the island and Romy's magic.

I love the fierce protectiveness of Silvan and Bastian. And how they protect Romy in different ways. I love the forbidden aspects of the desire that is brewing between Romy and the boys.

“Silvan” is the first book in River Chastain’s The Complicated Romantic Life of Romy Delacroix series, and I thought it was a good start to a new series! Andromeda “Romy” Delacroix is the daughter of the current High Priestess, a title that she will be expected to bear one day. This book did a good job with setting up the plot; I think this world is very interesting and that dramatic things are going to happen as the series progresses. Romy was a likable, if somewhat innocent and naive, heroine, and I’m excited to see what happens next for her and her love interests. All in all, I thought this was an intriguing read!

What a delicious and satisfying treat this book was. Every minute of the book had me devouring it at a pace like it was my last meal and one I was starved for. Intriguing, exciting, romantic, spicy, and an absolute delight are words that come to my mind when I think about this storyline. The characters we meet thus far - Romy, Silvan, Bastian, and Dane - are wonderful characters and were written with such detail and complexity. I love lycans and vampires, so picking a favorite right now is so very hard, but I'm leaning towards Bastien....he's so mysterious. Overall, this was a grand slam of a series opener; and I am left eagerly waiting for book 2. So I highly recommend you read this now!

loved it!

Great book it was intriguing . I loved the characters I have to say I love the broody bastian the most. Looks like silvan gets more time with romy. The attraction is strong amongst the characters . I couldn’t put down this tasty morsel . There was some spice mostly between romy and silvan. I can’t wait to see what happens next .

If you enjoy paranormal romance with a why choose trope, then you’ll love Silvan. This story is full of mystery and political intrigue as Romy navigates becoming the new leader of her coven and working to solve a mystery illness and murder. Silvan is a Lycan heir whose uncle was murdered, and he teams up with Romy (lust at first sight), a Warlock, and a Vampire to find answers. The romance is steamy and full of tension. Very entertaining ang enthralling read!
