The Bobrov Bratva #4

Deadly Intentions

Rate this book
Matvei Ivanov is everything his reputation perceives.

Arrogant. Untouchable. Deadly.

He is a man who knows what he wants, and for some unfathomable reason, he wants me.

But I am not a free woman. I’m on the run, and have as many secrets as the domineeringly mysterious stranger, though you’d never guess that when I toss caution to the wind for a deal too good to be true.

I refuse to be bought… but being wholly consumed by someone convinced I deserve better doesn’t come with a price tag.

It only turns costly when I learn more than my heart is on the line.

Another brilliant novel

Oh Shandi you have done it again.

This is such a brilliant read. Matvei and Natalya, what a story and a journey. Highs and lows, deception and unmistakable love/lust.

Great plot twist, not where I thought we were going, it was so much better.

Age gap wasn’t really noticeable, but the characters were well written. Definitely touch her and I will unalive you vibes, possessive, obsessive - all the best traits for a Bratva novel.

5⭐️4🌶️ these two sizzle together, loved it.

Another well written and intriguing book by Shandi. Amazing chemistry between Matvei and Natalya, they were scorching together! This book’s timeline ran alongside Devious intentions so you could see the story from Natalya’s side. Matvei was commanding and I could see why Natalya was drawn to him, he was so hot! Natalya though gave as good as she got and stood up for what she believed. Some great twists and turns in this book that shocked and surprised me, which I loved! I hope there is more stories to come from this series as there are some characters I’d love to read more about. A book and series I would recommend if you like books with plenty of heat and surprises!

This seemed easier to review than The Oxford Legacy trilogy set I've been avoiding. This was actually pretty good, minus the typical mafia book ending, which 99% of the time results in marriage and an epilogue of, on today's episode, guess who got pregnant.

Favourite quotes:
- I feel like I’m contributing to fixing my mistakes instead of hiding from them.
- “I’ll give you that one for free, but you’ll have to pay for the rest.” (literally a play on joke for the whole book this was genius)
- I am not myself tonight. I’m just unsure if it is a good or bad thing. I haven’t felt like myself in a long time, so maybe this is who I’d be if I weren’t constantly second-guessing everyone’s motive.
- “You have the envy of every woman in the room,” he announces, loving the attention. Hopeful he’ll see the other side of the coin, I murmur, “And their hatred.” I agree with him when he whispers, “Better than their pity.”
- How come I can encourage a stranger to go for what he wants, but I’m too scared to do it myself?
- “Language. You’re a lady, so you should speak like one.”“And you’re meant to be a gentleman, so how about you act like one?”

Funny moments:
- “Oh, for the love of all things gay.” Jax butts his shoulder with mine, his rapidly surging horniness on par with mine—hot enough to scald. “Please tell me you know his name.”
- “I’m not most women.”“That is the worst line I’ve ever heard.” (THANK YOU)
- I laugh before I can stop myself. It’s either laugh or straddle his lap, so I went for the one less likely to get me in trouble.
- “I have scotopic sensitivity, not blindness.”

Smut moments:
- The rouge coloring of my cheeks deepens as Matvei brushes the back of his hand down my face. “I can’t wait to see how far I can extend your blush.”
- “I want a front-row seat to the show, Natalya. My face a fucking inch from your cunt as it convulses around my fingers covered in the evidence of your arousal.” (this is the INTRO)
- He can do anything he wants to me right now, and I won’t stop him.
- Matvei speaks between labored breaths. “Take your panties off. I don’t want anything in my way when I make you come all over my hand.”
- Chapter 8-17 was wowza
- He eats me until I violently come, and then asks those three words again. “Be my wife?”“N—” Again and again, over and over, he drives me to the brink until I’m limp, exhausted, and delirious enough to say yes. (look it's definitely a strategy)

A bit chaotic with some awkward word choices

Any good smutty mafia romance is a bit of a train wreck and this one doesn't disappoint.

I was tempted by an IG add and the spicy, alpha dominate vibes continued through the story. Unfortunately with our beloved train wreck mafia stories some have more character development then others and this was does disappoint in that regard.

The story had to many side characters/ stories. I frankly didn't give a crap about Nat's boss and her weird love triangle. We didnt have any context for what those characters were all weird love angst and it seemed unresolved on the end. Apparently those characters have their own book so I'm not sure why so much of their story is in this one. I feel like it took away from the main characters.

Speaking of main characters, the love you / hate you stuff was okay for the first few chapters but after few times of it the MFC started to shift from "stubborn" to just plain annoying. And brought out more of the party entitled brat girl she said she wasn't anymore.

The reason it has two stars for me instead of one is the plot twist at the end. It was rather good and I didn't see it coming. My only regret is that the redemption of the love between our two main characters was so flippin fast (not in terms of time in the story as 3 mons lapsed) but that was maybe a chapter or two and boop they are HEA.

Eh anyway not one of the best mafia romances I've read.

This was the last installment into The Bobrov Bratva series so I'm leaving my review for all four of the books here in this one location.

Wicked Intentions was wicked awesome. Ghost and Katie had made appearances throughout some of the earlier books in Shandi's mafia world, so there was some knowledge of these characters (specifically Katie) from prior reading. The world/story that Shandi developed around these characters was amazing. Granted, be prepared to enter the world of mafia carnage that includes human trafficking. That said, the strength and resilience that Shandi wrote Katie to have was inspiring. And the love story, the immediate i-gotta-have-that-person attraction that she developed between Ghost and Katie was palpable. Great story with some intriguing twists and turns that I didn't see coming. Great story with an custom HEA.

Sinful Intentions, OMG, I feel in love with these characters. Alek, having survived a horribly abusive childhood, just flooded my heart with all the feels. And Ana, her strength was phenomenal. They overcame the odds of young love gone awry when they found one another again after years of separation, despite the mafia world they were entwined in. And their story just become more beautiful after the tragedy they suffered. It was a great HEA!!!

Devious Intentions was, quite honestly, chaotic and I felt like the writing was loose and disjointed. Shandi seemed to be trying to create way too many stories within a story within a story and I really didn't care for all the nooks and crannies of this writing. I loved the characters, but the writing really was a mess. As a reader, you'll still get the HEA, but you have to trudge through a lot of writing muck to get there. :(

Deadly Intentions is where Shandi redeemed herself from the mess that was Devious Intentions. The story line made great sense and the twists and turns were super effective. I had a feeling about the BIG twist, but the writing convinced me early on that my feeling was wrong. My feelings weren't wrong but I'm okay with that. It was well worth the emotional investment. I feel in love with Matvei and Nat's story. He loved her from the start ... that's all I'm saying. And such a wonderful HEA, even for a mafioso! <3

Every time I read one of Shandi's books I fall in love all over again.
She writes the best anti heros.
This was just as messed up as the other dark mafia stories. But my goodness me, I was stumped by the revelations. I am usually good at having an idea of what's going on. Nope, I was sooooo wrong. I honestly sat there like a gaping fish with WTF did I just read repeating in my head!!!!!
Shandi, 👏🏼 that was just brilliant. It was great to see Henry Gottle showing up. That Man is soo powerful. (I do wish he could have HEA with his family one day).
I really love Natalya, she is genuinely a wonderful human despite having a despicable mother.
I felt I could relate with her when she questions her sanity when it came to some of the stuff Matvei said or done. 😂. Yeah Shandi turns me morally grey sometimes with her books.
Oh Matvei, you wonderful, crass, filthy mouthed, AlphaHole and so dominant man. I loved him!! I loved how protective, Bossy, dominant he was and yet so loving.
These two were perfect for each other. They balanced the other.
This book was suspenseful, drama, gore, twists after twists, secrets, Dark, deception, emotion, family, friends, love and sooo much spice.
I want more of them. I probably say this after all Shandi's books. It's never enough.
I loved the background characters and hope we get all the other friends stories one day.
If you haven't read Yevs and Polinas story, get on it as it will make sense when you read this. (Devious Intention). Well read all the other books as they all are interconnected even though they're standalones.

Favourite Quotes:
"How about we cut the antics and move straight to the point?” I choke on my spit when he announces without a single quiver, “I want to f&ck you. I have since the first time I saw you in the flesh months ago.”

Matvei assures me, “He can’t see you. If he could, he’d already be dead.”

“I’ll give you that one for free.” He bites at my lips before inching back. “But you’ll have to pay for the rest.”

“Love is not something that is taught. You also don’t get to pick who you love. It chooses for you.” She watches the rise and fall of my Adam’s apple when I say, “It chose us.”

Deadly Intentions is the fourth and final book of Shandi Boyes, Bratva Series. It can be read as a standalone, however, references characters from previous books. This is a story like no other as Matvei and Natalya’s story is one which appeared to be doomed from the beginning because the truth always has a way of showing up. Matvei is a strong willed, possessive man who knows what he wants and will kill anyone who gets in his way. What he wants more than anything is Natalya. Natalya is a strong and witty woman who is trying to live her life as best as she can without having her past catch up to her present. She isn’t someone who can be bought and more often than not, she will never give in to being told what to do and how to live her life. Even though life hasn’t always been fair to her, her strong and witty personality made her circumstances a bit easier to face. He loves when people wither under his command but has finally met his match when Natalya doesn’t shy away from being outspoken and curious. Natalya’s fiesty personality is a perfect match for Matvei’s dominating one. With many misunderstandings and unspoken truths between the two, this dynamic duo rely on their compassion, love, and unwavering desire to help them get through their obstacles. It is also what constantly makes it hard to stay away from one another. Matvei is known for his murderous reputation, but when his secrets become unearthed, he must rely on his honesty, skills, and transparency to help mend the bridges he burnt along the way when life takes a turn for the worst. The only problem is, will the consequences of his past actions cause him his happiness with the only woman he’s ever loved but believed to be off-limits. Their story has so many twists and turns that you think you have it all figured out until you find out you don’t. Thank you Shandi for this thriller. You are amazing. Deadly Intentions is a must read as I promise you won’t want to put it down.

“Who I spend time with is my choice. Who I sleep with is my choice…I chose you, back then and now, but you’re too blinded with jealousy to acknowledge that.”

Rating: 5/5⭐️
Spice: 3.4/5🌶️

🩶 Thank you Shandi Boyes for this ARC!! I was so excited to read this book, especially after being introduced to Nat earlier. I’m sad to see this series end but I really enjoyed every minute I spent reading it🫶🏻

🩶 Natalya is feisty and stubborn and I absolutely loved every second of it. As soon as she saw Matvei for the first time, she was mesmerized. I love that she always challenged him and would always put up a fight on any and all decisions, they had this push and pull that was very entertaining to read.

🩶 Matvei is possessive and jealous and unhinged in the best ways. From the moment he saw Natalya, he knew she was his and that he wasn’t letting her go, whether she knew it or not. One thing I had a love/hate relationship with him was that he was so mysterious. You don’t find out anything about his past for a good while and it drove me insane cause I needed answers and then I got them and then I lost my mind again. Let’s just say things get real complicated 😅

🩶 The plot twist near the end was so freaking wild. I was not expecting that. It’s been a long time since I have been truly shocked and surprised by a plot twist, cause most I guess coming, but this threw me for a loop. I love Matvei and Nat so much. They truly are soul mates. I definitely recommend reading this series!

I tried really hard to finish this book. I love these types of books but I really struggled with this one. It was very confusing from the start but I tried to stick it out.
1. A couple of the character names are very similar I had to really take notice, Taylor and Tyler then Vas and Yev almost felt like a tongue twister to my brain.
2. Things felt all over the place I kept wondering if I accidentally skipped a sentence or page and had to stop and go back multiple times.
3. Something about bottle caps, then these bottle caps got thrown but they need collect them- Im lost.
4. No amount of spicy scenes can make up for the confusion.

I got around 53% of the way through and the confusing battle of missing pieces and trying to keep up with who is who. I guess there might be answers if I stick it out but I might try finish at a later date but right now the thought of the battle is not appealing. Has great potential though.

Vague

From the first paragraph I was confused. I read it several times and only a few chapters in did I realize our MFC was typing on someone else’s phone.
The whole book is vague. You never understand what is going on and it takes explaining the entire plot in the last chapter for the book to make sense.
Our FMC is on the run with a body guard but she doesn’t change her hair or name so it’s not like she’s really hiding. She goes out wild partying she’s not trying to stay off the radar. “Stuff” happens with friends but it doesn’t add anything to the book dynamics. It’s like a word salad thats missing ingredients and the dressing. The sex scenes couldn’t keep my interest because it did nothing to add to the characters at all.

You know when you start a book, and especially a sequel, and you think you know where it is heading? And then the author throws a curveball you did not see coming and your head is reeling? Well, that is this story in a nutshell!
It is sexy, it is raunchy, it is a ‘hang on, what the heck’ story! There are tiny, teeny clues, but it isn’t until well toward the end that you start suspecting..., and then when the plot twister comes out..., you’re left spinning. Shandi has once again outwitted us with her storytelling.
An abundance of secrets and clever twists make this another must-read by this author.

I saw this book on TikTok and thought why not. I did not read any of the 3 previous books. I'm not sure if reading the other books would have made a difference but at times I had to read something 2-3 times to understand what was happening, the way the sentences were built made it confusing as to who was doing the action, if that makes sense?

Also, this is insta lust, I didn't mind that. I did find some of the things a bit OTT. By 37% I still didn't know much about the characters, it felt like the FMC was trying to be portrayed as a strong independent woman but still behaved like an unruly teenager? Not sure how to explain her behaviour, but it started grating on me.

good story but confusing

I love all of Shandi’s books. I’ve read them all and will continue to. However, I feel like this last series of books has been a little bit confusing. I’m waiting for the end of the book for everything to wrap up but then there’s still things hanging around out there I don’t understand. Like with this one (possible spoilers so beware) I’m still confused as to whether the first marriage was “real” or did he backdate that? Why is Natalya’s mother so horrendous? Couldn’t he have released proof that she was innocent without targeting himself? Who was the random guy in the overalls that bought the red négligée and then chocolate?

This is an intense story and Matvei is a very intense man but at the same time he is captivating. Natalya was an interesting but minor character in Devious Intentions and I am so glad she has her own story. This is a very hot and steamy book with so many secrets that are gradually exposed but it will make your mind go into overdrive trying to follow all the twists and turns. Then just when all seems understandable there is a huge twist that will leave you reeling. Fortunately Shandi explains it all from more than one perspective and the ending is perfect.

This was a really good book, but for once, I'm also going to mention the writing style & editing of this book. It was pretty bad. So many times, it was hard to follow. Lots of runon sentences. Even the beginning felt awkward & incomplete. Great sex though& great tension. It just as reality difficult to follow the structure of writing here. So many times, I had to read sentences to piece together what was trying to be conveyed. I hope this book gets a re-edit or soemthing because the story is really good.

5 Stars for Deadly Intentions : An Age Gap Mafia romance

This is Book 4 in the Bobrov Bratva Series

I loved this book so much and received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Matvei is who I was waiting for and he does not disappoint - jealous , possessive but soft and gooey for his girl. Natalya is snarky - of course gorgeous and on the run … right place right time for these two.

Well written fast paced storyline with amazing chemistry thru out !

Loved it and would highly recommend this series and author !

Love the continuation of a story that started with Enigma

Shandi Boyes is a great storyteller and has a great imagination to be able to build this world and continue to keep it alive with intertwined stories that fit together perfectly.

Love the continuation of the story/characters that began with Enigma. I’ve read all of them.

Unlike her previous books, I found this one a little harder to follow, until the last few chapters. At that point, once the storyline fell into place, I liked it.

Best of the series

I loved the other books in the Bobrov Bratva series, but this one is my favorite. Matvei is a dirty talking, over the top, jealous, possessive alpha male with a cinnamon roll heart for Natalya. Natalya is a spunky, sexy girl on the run who never thought she could be in one place long enough to fall in love until she met Matvei. They are volatile, hostile, hot, and perfect together.

Deadly Intentions: An age-gap mafia romance (The Bobrov Bratva Book 4). This book is a Mafia stand alone dark romance. This book is told from the main female characters POV, there is no cliffhanger and a HEA. This book can be read as a stand alone, however you will have a better reading experience if you read the first three books.

It’s a tough choice but I think this book is now my favorite in the series. The characters have great chemistry and is very spicy. I recommend this book.

The spice is great but it's hard to understand due to the writing style.. i had to reread some para to understand

To summarise, FMC was married to MMC father and "stole" his family money. FMC mother place a bounty over her head so she can have the money for herself. There is some miscommunication due to her mother but MMC being a possessive bulldozer does not let her get away. The FMC always gives in for lust which gets a little annoying tbh.

From the idea of the story and the whole plot this book could have been a hit, but the way it was written was just so confusing.

Sometimes it seemed like the sentences were mixed up together. The characters weren't really inteoduced and I feel like a lot of the relationship between the main characters based on lust and nothing more.

I didn't read the previous books so I don't know if that would have altered my review.

What a read, Natalya and Matvei, their story brings down families, friends and anyone else who gets in the way, reading this as it links in to other books makes it so exciting as all the twists and turns and characters line up beautifully definitely had me from the first page, brilliant like a who done it. I voluntarily reviewed this book.

The Final Chapters

Marvei and Natalya are the last Bratva couple or maybe not. Natalya comes across as a desperate to live each day to the max type person. She hides so much of herself she can not be real. Matvei is an aggressive domineering person, not very likable. But these two mesh.

so good

Not what I was expecting at all… not your typical bratva book. There were a few points where things could have been a little clearer ( some conversations the way it’s written maybe confusing who is talking). The twist of this book, dirty but also had me in tears for the main character in the end.

I enjoyed reading this series from the beginning to the end. Each plot kept this reader on edge wanting to know more. In the end the truth will set you free and love is unconditional and wants what it need to survive. Sadden to learn of her mother’s actions and maybe she can develop a relationship with her brother while the mother is held accountable for her evil deeds

Bratva love or hate.

Natalya ran for her life. She had to after her mother sold her to a man old enough to be her father. Then she was accused of murdering him. Life has not gone well She sees a man so handsome but isn’t what he seems. She will never be the same.

This book was so hard to follow at some points, it jumped around points that were never brought up, they were just there without any build up. With that being said, I did enjoy the story when I understood what the hell was going on. But it did take away from the story as a whole.
