Note: The decision was made to consolidate all Disney publications under the name Walt Disney Company. This profile is for Walt Disney, the characters he created, and the company he founded. Any questions, please ask in the Librarian's Group.

Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.

Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.

Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.

The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.

1. The Little Mermaid - I actually really enjoyed this cute story! Without all the miscommunication it all feels a little less stupid and both Eric and Arielle come across as a little smarter. I also think it works miracles for their romance. I all of a sudden understood what the prince saw in the mermaid and vice versa!

2. Treasure Island - I have never seen the movie and yet it was strangely easy to follow this short story and to understand what was going on. I also got quite curious about the movie. I was never really interested in it, but I liked the vibe of this story, the mix of sci-fi and fantasy and I also kinda liked the characters.

3. Beauty and the Beast - This was perfection! I've always had issues with the original fairytale, but this story was perfect and really made Belle shine. I loved Gaston's cameo, but I most of all loved Belle's development and the last chapter of the story, picturing a different future for Belle, but one that might be even better than her original fairytale ending.

4. Hercules - As a Greek mythology nerd I absolutely loved this story, although it was kinda predictable, even if you don't know there is a God of Thieves. However, I like that Hercules actively has to learn to be a God and what being a God means and I like that Meg was still being Meg and refused to just look pretty next to him and fought for her own future.

5. Robin Hood - Not a very original what if version of this tale. I think I've read quite a few retellings where Maid Marian and Robin Hood were one and the same person, but I liked how this story was written. Marian's frustration was very real and I liked how her being a woman was both an advantage and a disadvantage at the same time.

6. Cinderella - Another not so very original idea, but one that was still very cute and heartwarming. I also liked that Anastasia's story is not focussed on the romance. There is a touch of romance, but she's not changing because of a boy. She's not getting a happily ever after because of a man. She's finding her way home and to herself. And this version of her totally deserved it.

7. Merida - Every story that gives the triplets the chance to become their own people is a good story. I quite liked how their unique personalities were clear within a few sentences. I also quite liked how there were so many nods and hints towards Merida's journey. The life lesson of this short story is also very nice!

8. Bambi - I personally don't really love Bambi. I've never really enjoyed the movie, however, I kinda liked how the author painted nature and seasons in this book. I also like how in a way this short story is about some very real and important questions, while Bambi and his friends are also still very much themselves.

9. Sword in the Stone - I've actually discovered this movie through the twisted tale book and I really enjoyed this short prequel story. I liked the vibe of this story, I liked the development of the characters throughout this story and I really enjoyed the eventual outcome of the story after a quite emotional finale.

10. Snow White - I absolutely loved this short story! For a while the story kinda follows the original story we all know and love, but there is a really love change that shows its true colors at the very end of the story. The ending of this story feels therefore way more satisfying than the ending of the original fairy tale.

Averaged out over the 10 novellas the calendar score 3.2 overall. Some novellas are much better than others.

01) The Secret Exchange - Little Mermaid 4/5
Enjoyed this one, though it would be better as a longer book. Loved the twist to the original, but it just needed more padding rather than being done as a novella! Ursula was just way too easy to defeat, and the most "thrilling" bit was done within 2 pages.

2) Battle The Stars - Treasure Planet 3/5
I have no idea what the twist was as I don't know the actual story. I read the plot on Wikipedia, and I still don't know what the twist is. But, it was an OK story, like most novellas, it needed a bit more depth though.

3) The Journey Home - Beauty and the Beast 4/5
Enjoyed it, but that wasn't a twist that was a complete "what if" change of fate. Basically if she went the fair instead, then her life would have taken a complete different direction, Gaston would be outsmarted by a woman, the beast would never have been met resulting in an entirely different ending. A very "gender doesn't matter" scenario.

4) Call it a Hunch - Hercules 2/5
I'll admit I only know bits of Hercules but this honestly felt more like a book about Meg than Hercules, Herc learning his new role felt more like a side story of the novella than the actual plot.

5) A Royal Game of Chess - Robin Hood 3/5
I actually found this one quite confusing with the character twists but also found it very predictable. I think it needed a longer story and better outline.

6) The Envelope - Cinderella 4.5/5
I honestly think this should be done as a longer book. I love the concept, and it ended too soon. So far, this is the one I've enjoyed most. Anastasia learning to follow on her step sisters footsteps, finding out about her kind father, ditching those holding her back and learning to find herself and even finding someone to maybe love her, it would be interesting to see how it all pans out after that.

7) Fates, Three - Brave 3/5
OK, but a bit boring, set after Brave. Brothers learnt what they truly wanted...and that was about it. Bit underwhelming!

8) The Reluctant Prince - Bambi 3.5/5
Better than some others but a little underwhelming, like the Brave one. It would make a great longer book or film, needs a bit more detail I think so see Bambi learn what time of Prince, partner and father he would be.

9) Dragon in the Snow - Sword in the Stone 3/5
I don't know much about the original so honestly I've no idea what the twist is but it sounds like the story of how Mim and Merlin became enemies? OK story but not very original in my opinion

10) Cast Out - Snow White 2/5
Honestly don't know what to think, way to short to tell this story, might work longer but it just seems daft that after a day learning magic, or barely learning it, she manages to lock away the queen in 10 seconds. Longer with more explanation and better timings...maybe it would work.

Collector's set for all Disney Twisted Tales lovers.
The box includes:
- 10 colouring books which are a compilation of “old” Disney colouring pages originally released in the Hachette Heroes collection in France (Love Stories blocks, Princesses block, Bestiary, former Bodoni Mechants...). I regret that there is no agreement between the colours, it's all and nothing in each book. The paper is not suitable for colouring because it is recycled paper intended for paperback reading books. Despite all this, books remain collectable and will increase in value over time.
- 2 weekly diaries with various activities (trackers, wish list...) divided into 2 categories (Winter/Spring) and (Summer/Autumn)
- 1 beautiful Disney Art Book book in colours. The small downside is that we don't know who made these superb illustrations. A glossary or index would have been welcome at the end of the book)
- 1 book of Disney quotations from various movies
- 10 individual books containing 10 unpublished stories that were originally part of the Twisted Tales Anthology book, which would later appear in the collection. The advantage is that we have books independent of each other with original covers specially made for this box set. SO MEGA COLLECTOR for all self-respecting Disney collectors. The stories are quite short (around 40 pages for each book) which makes the experience quite pleasant and fast paced. Then see if it's not too hasty when reading short stories.

I absolutely do not regret getting this, as I am a mega fan of Disney's Twisted Tales.

This Disney Book Advent Calendar came with several items: a number of coloring books, a quote book, an art book, two journals, and 10 short Twisted Tales:

The Envelope by Jen Calonita
The Journey Home by Farragut Rochon
Call It A Hunch by Jen Calonita
Rattle the Stars by M.K. England
The Secret Exchange by Elizabeth Lim
A Royal Game of Chess by Liz Braswell
Fates, Three by Jen Calonita
The Reluctant Prince by Liz Braswell
A Dragon in the Snow by Kristina Perez
Cast Out by Livia Blackburne

I don’t like leaving spoiler reviews, and the best part of an Advent calendar is not knowing what you’re going to get, so I won’t go into any storyline details.

For those who aren’t familiar with the Twisted Tales series, each story puts a twist on a traditional Disney tale in some way—whether by changing the past, the future, or the present. Some stories were incredibly unique and far removed from the original, while others felt familiar, with barely anything changed.

I did have a clear favorite: A Dragon in the Snow by Kristina Perez. On the other hand, my least favorite was A Royal Game of Chess by Liz Braswell.

I would recommend this to fans of the Disney Twisted Tales books and Disney fans who enjoy colouring; the intricate colouring pages are great, though the paper quality is poor, and while the reading books alone would rate 2 stars, I added an extra star for the additional books included.

5. A ROYAL GAME OF CHESS (Robin Hood) - Was quite confusing and felt dragged out - 2⭐️

10. CAST OUT (Snow White) - A cute retelling where she saves herself - 3⭐️

i don't think this should be allowed to call itself a twisted tale advent calendar when less than half the content was twisted tale themed. if you're gonna give me ten (10) colouring books you could at least put effort in to make one of them twisted tale related. also the box said there's "exclusive story content" which is a blatant lie since all of the short stories are also featured in the anthology book. i don't think any of the content was necessarily bad i just thought it would be twisted tale themed and was super disappointed when it wasn't. you should just buy the anthology and a random disney adult colouring book instead.

This was very cute. Coloring books, planers and retellings of Disney movies. They gave twists to the movies storylines. Kind of "What would have happened if...." So sweet and fun to read. Although no masterpieces. Unfortunately there were a couple of writing or translation errors in the texts wich disturbed the reading flow sometimes.
But the stories themselves were cute, as I said.

Absolutely love this idea, the stories was also super cute.
Unfortunately did it contain nothing less than 14 coloring books, one quote book, one art book and two journals. I had hoped for a lot more novels. The different items are cute, but 14 coloring books? That’s too many..
