Danger and personal crisis on land, sea, and in the air combine with a level of spiritual warfare that is unparalleled in a Christian book. Apocalypse Burning is a page-turning thriller that runs side by side with the phenomenal Left Behind series, which has sold in excess of 60 million copies.
First Sergeant Samuel Adams “Goose” Gander is on the front lines, fighting a battle against superior forces. Goose's wife, Megan, is fighting for her freedom in a court case where all the facts seem stacked against her. Meanwhile, Chaplain Delroy Harte believes that the Rapture may have happened but can't be sure until he has dealt with the demons of his past. Stunning action and technical accuracy ensure this series will satisfy the fans of the original Left Behind series who are looking for more.

Apocalypse Burning: The Earth’s Last Days: The Battle Lines are Drawn
I give this book five stars! There’s action from the beginning until the end. Even though the book is fiction, I believe it to be based on factual future events. Reading the stories of the Navy Chaplain, the Counselor on trial for dereliction of duty and her husband, First Sargent Goose Gander I was able to imagine what life may be like after the Rapture. I recommend this book. It’s not always an easy read though.
Ok, the series finally started picking up. I actually enjoyed this book, the first two were difficult for me to get through, but this one picked up in the story lines and got intense. Third book is much better for me and now I am looking forward to the fourth. Hope it doesn't disappoint!
Loved this series of the Earth’s Last Days. The author gives us something to think about. Are we ready for this if not let’s get ready ? Time will tell
Another super book that combines action, characters that act like reap people might in similar circumstances and an exploration of the End Times as set forth in the book of Revelation. Once started I could not put this book down. Read the series in order - this is a must do.
“Apocalypse Burning”, by Mel Odom, is the third in a series of three of the military actions at the time of the Rapture and the beginning of the Tribulation. This purely fictional account follows one military family as they continue to deal with the disappearance of the youngest son, Chris, as well as the deployment of Goose, a First Sergeant, with the 75th Army Rangers. Megan, Goose’s wife is a counselor back in the United States and is dealing with not only the disappearance of her youngest son, but she deals with teens on the base who have either had family Raptured or their family members are in Turkey. Joey, the oldest son of Megan and Goose is feeling neglected and despondent because he blames himself for not being there when Chris disappears. He is feeling left out and runs away when Megan, his mother brings so many teens into their house for both counseling and protection. Megan also has to deal with the military accusations of dereliction of duty as a counselor. As you can see there is much going on during this episode, so to speak, and Odom has done a wonderful job of bringing his series together in a tight cohesive story of loss, questions and faith. There are also other characters we follow is this book, such as Chaplin Harte, U.S. Navy Chaplin who is trying to deal with his own failings as a man of the cloth, and there’s also other’s, too many to mention that have great influence in the story as it is being told. Bravo to Mr. Odom, for his depiction of the events following the Rapture, leading into the Tribulation. This purely fictional story is only one way of looking at the End Times, but who knows, it may be just the way Odom writes it. This military series fits well with the original Left Behind series and there is also a political series which may be of interest to anyone who is interested in learning more about the Rapture and Tribulation
"Apocalypse Burning", the third book in the "Left Behind: Apocalypse" series. This series is a set of (mostly) wartime military thrillers that takes a different look at the end-times troubles, as portrayed in the "Left Behind" series (by LaHaye and Jenkins).
In the main story, First Sergeant "Goose" Gander is leading a group of his soldiers in a rescue mission of a Turkish village which has been set afire by one of the local warlords. This action, while laudable from a humanitarian viewpoint, has exposed the convoy he was supposed to shepherd to attack by that same warlord and his men in Goose's absence. He has to atone for his decision, and his commanding officer (and former friend) wants to make sure the price is sufficient.
In the second story, Goose's wife (Megan) and family are still dealing with their own problems back in Georgia, with Megan being court-marshalled (in effect) for the mysterious disappearance of a boy she tried to save from a 4-story fall. Much of her story involves the trial itself -- and its outcome. Alongside this story, we learn about her son Joey's actions since he stalked away from his family.
The third story, about naval chaplain Delroy Harte, has him continuing to face his own spiritual problems and subsequently starting to re-build his father's church and his community.
I found Apocalypse Burning to be a pretty uplifting book. 4 stars. Looking forward to the final book.
The third in this series, this one was by far the best. Much more inspirational and even heart-tugging at times, I felt that Odom really succeeded in conveying the struggles that those left behind faced and how they were viewed as radicals for expressing the word of God and how it portrayed the truth of the Rapture. I was amazed at how this book almost mirrored current events with respect to stating one's beliefs and experiencing social persecution as a result. It really makes one think.....
My favorite book of this series! I didn't want to put it down. "The antichrist will come to power and will achieve world peace (at the beginning of the 7 year tribulation) and unification in one to three months."
