jesus this was so badly written. it's like a fifteen year old harley quinn fan drank a bunch of vodka, read too many edgy wattpad stories and banged out this travesty in 5 hours.

i'm really disappointed because i love taboo erotica, extreme horror and just general unhinged shit but this was... awful. i'm not gonna sugarcoat it, dude.

Thank you to the author for providing me with an E-ARC in exchange for my honest opinion!

This book follows two twins, Iris and Jasper, and how they end up in an asylum and what their life is like in that asylum. I highly recommend mentally preparing yourself and reading the trigger/content warnings for this book. The beginning of the book immediately starts out with family SA. This is a TABOO, REALLY DARK ROMANCE - there is twincest, both characters are completely unhinged, they are in an asylum -- how much crazy and dark can it get?!? This is Kinsley's DARKEST book, but it is so good! I honestly loved the creepy vibes, and it makes me want to visit an abandoned asylum. (Yes, I am completely insane, but I don't care 🤣) I loved the twin's devotion to each other and how they are inseparable and balance each other out. This book was honestly a lot of fun to read mainly because of these two crazy twins. Iris's mind is so twisted and chaotic in the best way. This book is perfect to read during spooky season! Highly recommend reading this book if you're into taboo and unhinged characters!

Sutton Asylum by Kinsley Kincaid is a dark taboo romance.

I absolutely love Kinsley's books! I can't help but devour them in one sitting. I am going to say this is hands down her best book yet. I was absolutely transfixed by the Ashford twins and didn't want their story to end. I loved that we got Jasper, Iris, and Dex's points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

I was so excited at the end of the book when she announced that Dex will be getting his own book in 2024. I will definitely be grabbing it as soon as it releases.

I would highly recommend this book if you like extreme taboo romances, forbidden romances, dark romances, or horror romances.

If you have any triggers, I will highly recommend checking the warnings before diving into this juicy book.

i understand that both of the MMC’s were psychotic and unhinged but the dialogue just didn’t do it for me. it was so…childish and i felt that it was as if they were trying too hard to sound unhinged which just took away from everything.

This was a great taboo romance! This was my first read by Kinsley Kincaid and I really enjoyed it. I loved the story and enjoyed how it took place in an asylum. I really enjoyed the characters and their personalities. My favorite character is definitely Dex. I’m looking forward to reading Sick Obsession!

Great dark romance by Kinsley Kincaid! Well written with characters that you can't not love! Iris' unhinged personality compliments Jasper's strong but quieter presence perfectly. These two have a deep bond and nobody can get between them...if they try, they die. No questions asked.
The love they share may be unorthodox but these two would go to hell and back for each other.

We are two parts of the same depraved soul. Never to be separated, even after death.

Between the pair and all the other residents of Sutton Asylum, Kincaid has created a home where the twins rule. They protect the residents and fight injustice by reprimanding the authoritative figures (BYE FELICIA).

Please read TW’s before starting this book. Your mental health matters.

I really enjoyed this.

It's definitely taboo, as the main characters are brother and sister. So beware of that.

But it was oh so fun. Iris was HILARIOUS, the things she said had me rolling with laughter.

She's definitely a little nutty, but in the best was possible.

My heart really bled for Dex. Everything he had been through and everything he was put through. I'm really excited he gets his own book. I look forward to that.

This book was good but it really took it up a notch once all the mayhem began.

Absolutely a fun read. And wicked spicy, even if Iris and Jasper are twins.

With a life sentence at Sutton Asylum, twins Iris and Jasper Ashford capitalized on the situation and made it their home. But their happy little family was interrupted when their position was threatened by new authorities. And they would do anything to assert their power and freedom.

This one was quite a ride. I enjoyed the storyline, and the asylum residents were fascinating and entertaining. However, the taboo aspect was not as impactful as I wanted.

We are two parts of the same depraved soul. Never to be separated, even after death.

I liked both Iris and Jasper. They were deranged and commanded attention. And, of course, Dex has a special place in my heart.

Sutton Asylum is a story of defiance and taking control. It would appeal to readers who enjoy unapologetic characters in dark, taboo Romance.

You want dark? Deranged? Brutal and murderous? Look no further, Kinsley Kincaid has you covered with her dark (extreme) tab00 romance, Sutton Asylum. This was my first story from Kincaid and I have a feeling it most certainly won’t be my last. I will admit it’s definitely not for the faint of heart, but if you have a cold, black heart and a strong stomach like yours truly, you’ll probably end up loving it to pieces.

This is the tale of Iris and Jasper Ashford, unhinged and unapologetic twins with a tragic past, living out their paltry existence locked away in Sutton Asylum for the clinically insane. Together they have deemed themselves the King and Queen of this repurposed South Carolina mansion, its other residents their loyal and adoring subjects. They have an issue with authority, and while punishment is harsh, it only fuels their need for vengeance and reclamation.

These two are beautiful psychopaths, toxic being the understatement of the century. Over the top, violent, uncaring of what anyone thinks, their bond is unbreakable. Iris exudes some serious Harley Quinn vibes, sadistically comedic and impulsive, and yet loves with all her being. Jasper, while more level-headed and calculating than his sister, is a dominant force to be reckoned with. He’ll do anything for Iris, and their chemistry together is off the charts.

With the addition of some colorful secondary characters, the asylum is its own little fantasy world. The medical staff are the villains here (f*ck you, Karen), and their treatment of a certain someone triggers a war. What ensues is nothing short of unadulterated chaos drenched in blood and other bodily fluids. For fear of spoiling everything, I will so no more. You’ll just have to read it yourself.

I went into this one blindly, and had a ton of fun with it. I loved the conclusion and can’t wait for what’s to come— Dexy, I’m waiting for you! I have a feeling it’s going to be bananas and I welcome it with open arms.

I want to start this with I didn't give this one star due to the themes. I like taboo topics. I like the crazy, deranged, absolute mindfu*king trauma. I was beyond excited for this book.

Unfortunately, that excitement went away rather quickly and I found myself turning page after grueling page of grammatical errors. I have no idea how I didn't DNF this one.

I had to stop to reread the run on sentences, highlight misspelled words, and circle misplaced punctuation marks.

Within the same paragraph, both "toward" and "towards" were used. Pick one and stick with it. Or at least assign the different spellings to each character.

At one point, I was questioning my own understanding of grammar and had to discuss it with a friend. This author seemed to space out and forget to complete thoughts. Here's the example I got caught up on for nearly an hour: "This is such beautiful art coming to life before me. Where mine is bold and flowing - pun intended. It has depth, it's dark and dramatic. It doesn't stop there."

This paragraph doesn't make sense. There should be a follow up; something along the lines of "Where mine is bold and flowing - pun intended - his is..." Instead, the thought just ends. What the fu*k happened here?

I wanted to blame the editor after the first few issues. Unfortunately, I don't think the editor could have saved this one.

This book was intense and for sure one that is not for the faint hearted. I read this book in one sitting and was highly entertained throughout. Being my first read by Kincaid, I didn’t know what to expect but I was excited to pick this up from the day I read the blurb. Kincaid has a talent for writing dark and intense topics whilst also incorporating humourous characters and energy into her plots. This was certainly on the taboo side and included various dark themes, however I found myself gigging with Iris’ character on many occasions. This isn’t a dark romance I’d recommend from any newbie in the genre BUT if you have read the triggers and you are intrigued by the plot then dive in and enjoy. I will be here if you need someone to talk to when you reach the ending!!!

I just can't with this book. I'm fine with the triggers, it's the immaturity of the characters that makes me can not STAND them.
You would think you would feel sympathy for the twins because of their background BUT they are so self-righteous and have the whole "king and queen" of Sutton thing going on, that I honestly wanted nothing but the worst for them. Kincaid tried SO HARD to make them seem so above and beyond that while reading, I wanted them to suffer.
Even if the characters in a book are horrible, if you as the reader don't like them, then there is no way you can root for them.
Like I legit HATED Jasper and Iris.
The fact this has such a high rating and it has tropes I enjoy pisses me off frfr.

I suppose for an independently published dark romance this book was at least well written and edited. I only found a handful of errors. However, the story was utter dreck. Never mind that the two main characters are siblings that’re murderers and are devoted to one another so faithfully that they’re constantly having episodes of BDSM sex with one another. But beyond that there’s essentially no plot. Not entertaining in the least. The story in a novel needs to do something else outside of harboring nonsensical gratuitous sex and scenes of pointless violence.

This had me by a chokehold the entire story! Iris and Jasper are the perfect kind of insane, and this is the perfect amount of taboo. Then you add Dex into the mix and they make one little perfect f'ed up family. I can't wait for Dex's story because this story was amazing! Kinsley did an amazing job as always!

The fact I wanted the main characters to get locked up, millions of miles away from each other, and never to see the light of day (or each other) again makes me realise I really couldn't vibe with them. 😅
