For most women, getting dumped on their birthday – and not for the first time – would be enough of a lesson.
But for Claire Hutchinson, letting go of Montrel Burns is easier said than done, despite his pattern of dissing her, missing her, and then dissing her again. She tries to move on with the respectful and romantic good guy Warner, but there's something about Montrel that keeps sucking her back in...
Montrel swears he's not a monster. He loves Claire and is sure they'll end up together eventually; he just needs time to be ready. But seeing Claire with anyone else in the meantime drives him crazy.
Will Claire wise up and focus on Warner, or will she let Montrel waste her time one time too many?
This was a ride! I would’ve jumped off a long time ago but Claire gonna stand by her sometimes-not right now-maybe one more time, man. Her friends and family have the patience of a saint because I could not deal with the nonstop drama.
Did I mention that Montrel is certifiable??? If I can’t have you then no one can type of energy. He’s also a great reminder of who not to date.
Someone invite me to the groupchat that reviews this book because I have questions to ask and things to say. The opening scene/chapter is a doozy and sets the general temperature for their story. Without saying too much, Montrel needs hands put on him. The author does a very good job of capturing an infuriating but common dynamic between couples who aren't on the same page but refuse to call a thing a thing. **WARNING** the main characters (Montrel and Claire) in this story will test your patience and have you staring at the page incredulously. A special shout out to supporting characters, Chichi and Forrest, who have strong moments in grounding the story, because the merry-go-round that is Montrel and Claire, whew!
So… I’m confused and not satisfied. Everybody in this book need to go to their room! Unless there is a part two where Claire and dude get their HEA, I’m not seeing the big picture. This book is not complete, IMO. Far too much indecision, love declared but then able to give in to someone else easily, sudden turn of emotion after begging to be back. Let’s not even talk about Montrel- homeboy is a psychopath that always has to do the dumping and Claire is a doormat. I didn’t root for anyone but Giselle but even her husband was trifling.
I need a just conclusion to this story Jessica!
