Blood runs in the Royal Capital. Two rival factions, the Thieves Guild and Smugglers Guild, wage a war for supremacy over the streets and sewers of the kingdom's capital. Refusing to allow lawlessness and economic collapse to threaten her quality of life, Juliette Contzen, 3rd Princess and begrudging adventurer, boldly ventures forth to rescue her kingdom from the clutches of organised crime. But first, she needs to get past the trolls blocking the bridge.
Overall I really enjoy the world and characters, but I'm getting a little tired of Juliet continuing to be completely in the dark with how powerful she is. I get that part of the humor is her being completely oblivious to it, it's just that it starts to get tiring after a while. I still want to know how her adventure plays out, I'm just hoping that at some point someone around her (other than Kopelia [sic?]) can recognize what's going on. The same joke only works a few times before it stops being funny.
It’s past two in the morning since I just couldn’t put this book down. I love her style of writing and everything about Juliette’s unique perspective on life. Five stars all the way!!!
I wanted to like these books by I'll be honest, Juliette is kind of obnoxious. I get she's supposed to be a sheltered royal with no real world experience but she has 0 growth and just continues to do the stupid laugh every other passage.
This is good satire. Just imagine how absurd it would be if peacekeepers were motivated only by a desire to protect the state's monopoly on violence and and ensure the working class stayed productive so they could claim all the excess wealth generated by their labor.
They say sequels are never as Good as the first, but this picked up right where the first left off and tickled My funny Bones. I can't wait to read more of their escapades. I can't recommend the series enough.
The time you spent reading this review would be better spent reading this book series. Besides copious amounts of soap, it is the only thing that can help the masses become slightly less unwashed.
Pretty amusing. I would have enjoyed it higher but I didn't really like the parts from other points of view. I mean, those parts added to the story but they weren't as entertaining to read.
