Rate this book
For twelve hundred years, the Godshards have been the protectors and guardians of humanity. They are humans whose souls have merged with shards of their fallen God.

Etheros is the latest in this lineage of heroes. A free-spirited nomad, a cheerful wanderer, a powerful Godshard whose spellcraft is that of alchemy and transmutation. His presence brings hope, and his words bring wisdom and comfort.

But when a daemon arrives uninvited at Etheros’ doorstep, the Godshard makes a dire discovery that challenges everything he knows…

Trouble in Yanneros is a prequel short story to The Six Strangers. You do not need to read this story to understand the upcoming novel, it merely gives readers a taste of the world being created.

About the author

Peter Capozzi

4 books3 followers
Peter Capozzi was born in Upstate New York. Ever since he watched Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers for the first time when he was eight years old, he has had a passion for storytelling.

Peter went to the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in 2013, graduating in 2017. He created several short films. Since Peter also has a knack for medieval history and strategy gaming, he was the lead developer for the Medieval Kingdoms 1212 AD mod for Total War: Attila for many years. After graduating from SVA, he went on hiatus for a few years, before getting work on film sets during the pandemic, including reality television, corporate, and narrative.

A car crash in late 2022 caused Peter to re-evaluate his life. While his love of filmmaking will never die, he has pivoted toward writing. Hence this first volume of Godshards, a novel that has been in the works since 2021. He brings his passion, his love of history and high fantasy, and his drive to everything he does, and this is no exception.

I enjoyed taking a peek into the Godshards series before purchasing the first book tomorrow. It reaffirmed that I will enjoy the next part of the story, which is very important to me when I pick up new books. I found this overall a very satisfying story and it gave me just enough to sink into what the writing style is. I read it incredibly fast, the pacing and lineup of events made it fun to read through. It didn’t feel so bogged down with the setting that it was dragging. A common problem for me when reading fantasy series. Given how pleasant the beginning of the book was, I had to wonder if this leaned more into young adult reading. However, the further along it progressed the more I had more of a feel for the atmosphere and I feel like the story felt its oats more towards the end. The characters were very interesting, I wanted to actively become part of the story. But, I did struggle with not having enough context about certain things. The Empire is mentioned, but I don’t have any grip on what the political landscape is like. And, the antagonist is mentioned but I'm not entirely sure how severe this threat is. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
