Years ago, I left Karissa with an ache in her heart, eager to chase my dreams in California alongside her brother, James, my best friendNow, returning to Colorado after a decade, memories of our high school romance flooded my mindI had left her a Promise Note—etched with love and vows for the future we dreamt of togetherFate had unexpectedly reunited us to care for her ailing mother, and the moment our eyes met, my heart raced like a runaway trainKarissa had transformed into a woman with a fierce beauty that caught me off guard, rekindling the passion that had never truly fadedYet, winning her back wouldn't be easy…Karissa had every reason to be mad at me for vanishing without a word, and I regretted that decision every day sinceStill, the magnetic pull between us was undeniableBut the stakes were high—Karissa was James' little sisterBreaking his trust was a risk I couldn't take lightly, as forbidden desires tempted us, testing our loyaltiesStolen glances and accidental touches reignited the flame we once shared, blurring the line between past and presentCould we trust our hearts and defy the odds, letting the Promise Note guide us back to a love that was lost and found again?…Or will we remain haunted by the what-ifs of a love that once burned so brightly?
I received this book as an ARC. The story is very well written and the characters development was good. There was a few typing errors in my book, but it didnt take away from the story. Karissa was funny and came across as how a normal female is with the favorite old clothes and how she feels obligated to her mom. I could really relate to her character. The family dynamic that is shown in this story warms your heart and puts you on a bit of an emotional roller-coaster and then adding a relationship on top made this story great. Carlyle is a little out of touch but care so much and shows it very well. This book will definitely be a book I will reread when I need a book that warms my heart.
I voluntarily review an ARC. This is a well written brother's best friend romance. I loved the characters, even the annoying ex-girlfriend. I really liked the storyline, the surprising reveales about the past and the true love. I didn't like too much the sneaking behind the back of the brother and some secrets. But this is a book I fully recommend.
My honest opinion of this book is that it starts kind of slow. Then it kind of just jumps right into things and has a lot of fluff not much depth. Don't get my wrong though. It was a good book and I read the entire thing. But I wish the plot had more to it.
Ain’t nothing like a great ending but theirs was a long time coming. Secrets are revealed. Engagement broken, parents realizing that their dreams are not your dreams, a BFF who stands by you thru thick and thin and a promise note that still has meaning. You’ll love this book even with the slow beginning.
Such a sweet book! I love this kind of trope. Falling in love with someone that grew up with you and saw you through all kind of stages. Its also great that they don't fall head over heals and then gut wrenching reasons year them apart. This is a sweet love story that gets steamy at times of course!
This author delivered once again. I loved the first person point of view which is a deal breaker for me. Karissa was a wonderful character. An amazing, 5 stars read. I received an ARC of this book through Bookfunnel in exchange for an honest voluntary review.
