Do you like dogs? If yes, keep reading.
Do you like Amish adjacent books? Yes, keep reading.
Do you like romance? Yes, then this book if for you!

Genevieve and Scott both are sent to the Pennsylvania State Troopers K9 training facility for different reasons. One is for insubordination and the other for over stepping the line with a colleague. Problem is they were once partners and five years may not have hidden the feelings each had for the other but never told the other. What can two weeks with the cutest pups do for their careers and personal life?

This was reading every night as I laid in bed. I fell asleep with a smile in my heart. A clean read with no sex, no cussing, and no gory scenes. A book I would share with any teenage reader in my life.

I received a digital copy of the book from the author. I was not required to leave a review positive or not. I was not paid in any form for my review.

The story centers around two people and one very special dog. The people — Genevieve Austin and former state police partner, Scott Simpson. The dog — Benjie, a German shepherd.

Gen has been sent to the Pennsylvania K9 Training Center to get an attitude adjustment. But she knows *exactly* what her problem is. If a certain someone would just let her be and stop trying to wrap her in cotton, she could be the Pennsylvania State Tropper who handles the tough jobs.

Little does she know that her former partner, now a sergeant is in charge of the K9 Training Center. They were not just partners. They were good friends if not best friends. And then to protect his job, he stopped. Today it’s called ghosting which means he ceased all communication with her. Gen understands the job part. But it hurt, hurt a lot. And now she has to REPORT to him who will REPORT to the Commissioner and if she strikes out here — she no longer has a job.

Benjie is a smart, strong dog and Scott trained him when he was a pup. One problem — Benjie handles all the commands, takedowns, etc. great with Scott. But not with other trainers. And the second but — Scott is on track to move up and a K9 partner won’t be part of that new job. If Benjie won’t work with another trainer, he will be cut from the program.

From the beginning, I liked the story but I have to admit, I was captured when Benjie looked with adoring eyes at Scott. You see I have this dog — or rather, maybe I should say, he has me — who looks at me with adoring eyes. When you are THE human for a dog, their love for you just shines through. And that’s Benjie with Scott. My Thor, all 6.5 pounds of him, loves me as if I am the most perfect person in his world.

Some authors can write gems of sentences. Some are funny. Some are bits of wisdom perfectly said. Some make you stop and think. I found several in this book. My favorite was “Some choices cut off other roads.”

An Amish Country Reunion is part of the Harlequin Heartwarming books, tagline — “Wholesome stories of love, compassion and belonging”. And that is exactly what you get in this book plus a mystery and that’s where the Amish part plays into the book. You’ve had the same experience. A writer knows an Amish story is beloved by many of us so they push it into their book but it doesn’t work. I LOVED how Patricia Johns weaved a believable scenario plus a mystery to be solved.

For me, this was a five-star read from the beginning. Oh, there is another puppy in the final part of K9 training, His name is Konig and if Konig were human, he would speak German. You’ll love it.

I received a complimentary DRC (digital review copy) of An Amish Country Reunion via NetGalley from the publisher, Harlequin – Romance | Harlequin Heartwarming. A positive review was not required; the opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Rating: 5 stars
Series: No and will not be. The author states this is a standalone book and the only K9 she will write.
Cover: Just okay. The couple is too close to the buggy and it should depict the state police in some way. When I first saw the cover, I thought the wrong cover had been loaded for the book.

"An Amish Country Reunion" is a romance with a mystery. The main characters were complex in the sense that their intentions and actions didn't always line up. However, the author wrote this so the solution to their problems was obvious to the reader but it was a struggle for the characters.

Gen wanted to do dangerous police work. Seriously, she should do undercover work as no one expected the skinny, stunning beauty to really be a cop. All she had to do is smile and ask a question to get most people talking. The problem was that her rich, influential father told her bosses to keep her safe, so she now lacked the experience to move up the ranks or take on the more dangerous jobs. Scott wanted to be commander over the station where Gen worked, but he couldn't have a relationship with her and be her boss. It didn't matter when he thought she didn't care for him, but then they both realized that they loved each other.

Frankly, I couldn't really accept that Scott's old boss would really think he could command a station full of cops. A dog looked at Scott with sad eyes, and Scott treated him like a personal pet even though he knew that wasn't in the dog's best interests. Gen easily manipulated him into to giving her what she wanted. Gen kept choosing to defy orders because she knew better, and it was only because Scott loved Gen that he said she'd reformed. Her attitude got better when she saw the truth about her situation, but she still couldn't be trusted to follow the chain of command.

I also didn't feel like the author really knew how K9s were trained as it mostly involved taking the dogs for a walk or cuddling puppies. And, yes, a dog would find it confusing for his handler to command him to attack his handler like a bad guy. I liked the story, it just didn't feel very realistic. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this story to fans of Amish and K9 fiction.

I received an ebook review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

an Amish Country reunion by Patricia Johns
A Clean and Uplifting Romance
When friends reunite in Amish Country…
Will love follow?
Arriving at the State Police K9 Training Center, Trooper Genevieve Austin learns that she’ll be reporting to her former partner, Sergeant Scott Simpson. Gen hasn’t seen Scott since he ghosted her to protect his job. And after her own struggles to climb the ranks, she can sympathize. When working together makes old feelings resurface, will Gen and Scott choose their careers…or each other?
This is Trooper Genevieve Austin's story.
This is Sergeant Scott Simpson's story.
Genevieve was there to be a cop, to chase down the bad guys, to make Pennsylvania roads safer, and to stand for law and order, and it was frustrating to be treated like she was less than capable because of her appearance.
The PSP K9 Training Center was located on leased Amish land. For whatever reason, the Pennsylvania State Police had decided to put this puppy school in the middle of Amish country, and she kept to the speed limit as she headed down the curving road, following her GPS’s directions.
“Scott?” she said.
“That’s Sergeant Simpson to you.” But his lips turned up into rueful smile. “Hey, Gen.”
Scott Simpson had been her very first partner as a brand-new trooper... He’d taught her a lot. Great. Now her humiliation could be complete.
“Please tell me you’re only passing through,” she said.
I recommend this book.

Thank you Harlequin - Romance for allowing me to read Patricia Johns’ upcoming book, An Amish Country Reunion. Again Ms. Johns takes us to Amish country to a Pennsylvania State Trooper’s K9 training Facility bringing together Trooper Genevieve Austin and her former partner, Sargeant Scott Simpson.

Such a wonderful story of human emotions, needs, wants, and desires. The characters are realistic and we get to see their story unfold.

Patricia Johns has such a way with words that the reader feels they are living the story right with these wonderful characters. Sometimes you feel like shaking them and saying, “can’t you see what is right in front of you?”

Although they have been apart for five years, emotions run high as they work together to train two wonderful K9’s and unofficially try to solve the mystery of a missing watch that is an heirloom belonging to an Amish couple. All while trying to get their relationship under control.

The pot is intriguing and well developed. You will not want to put it down. With all the twists and turns, you are kept guessing not only who-done-it, but also will Scott and Gen ever get their forbidden relationship straightened out.

This is a 5-stars story all the way. All opinions are my own and I was not required to give a positive review. Release day is June 25, 2024. Order yours today.

State Trooper Genevieve Austin finds heself being sent to the K9 Puppy Training Center as part of her therapy to correct "bad attitudes" & for officers who seem to defy authority. She also has a incredible looks & a wealthy father with enough influence to keep her safe while on the forrce but it also seems to hold her back. Scott Simpson was her first partner & they remained professional but still were very close at one time, but hadn't spoken in a few years. Genevieve's situation gets further complicated when she discovers Scott is temporarily running the K9 Center, which is located in Amish Country. When an Amish family has a valuable family heirloom that goes missing, Genevieve naturally wants to help. Will she be able to follow orders & keep her feelings professional around Scott as her superior officer? They both have a lot to lose. I found An Amish Country Reunion by Patricia Johns to be an enjoyable mystery, it was well written with a unique story line and the characters and emotions they were dealing with are something everyone can relate to. I was given a copy of this book by the author & was under no obligation to post a review.

Although this story takes place in an Amish community, the main characters are not Amish. Two PA State Troopers worked together 5 years previously and became working friends, he was her training officer and partner when she was a new trooper, but they did not keep in touch when their assignments changed. They both had feelings for each other but didn't act on them and he ghosted her. Now they are having to work together again, but in entirely different roles. when Genevieve is having to to "K9 doggy training school" to receive some therapy due to her insubordination. Scott is in charge of that training, trying to keep her from being fired for her attitude. Due to her innate sense of justice they end up working on a mystery in the Amish community. But they have to be careful and not cross any lines, in their lives or the community. The story is very well written, in my opinion, and kept my interest through the whole thing. I received this as an ARC and this is my honest opinion. Thank you, Patricia Johns, for this opportunity.

I have loved every Patricia Johns book I have read. She has a wonderful way with words, weaving a story that grabs hold and carries me straight through to the end. That said, this one did not engage me as much as I expected, but that may be mostly my own fault. I was not in the right frame of mind for this book, my mind drifting elsewhere after a recent personal loss and the main character’s name being the same as that person we lost.
This book is a contemporary story, although there are Amish characters, which is what the author is most known for. I am not a dog person, but the K9 aspect was interesting and I would have liked going a little deeper into that. I also was surprised at the use of h*ll, as that seemed very out of character for this author.
I will continue to follow and review for Patricia Johns. She is a sweet, talented writer. I should probably just stick to her Amish stories instead of contemporary romance.

A Definite Must-Read

After five years of not seeing each other, former partners Genevieve Austin and Scott Simpson find themselves working together in a completely different capacity. As they reconnect, questions about their past find their way into their present, affecting their new working relationship. This causes some bumps in the road as they navigate their relationship, their feelings, their goals, and their unresolved issues. As they do this, they find themselves drawn into a set of mysterious events that further impact their relationship. A very special pair of intelligent K9s adds an extra special touch to this wonderful story of love, second chances, new beginnings, and intrigue, which author Patricia Johns has flawlessly combined in such a way that makes this a definite must-read that should not be missed.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book. All comments and opinions are voluntary and completely my own.

An Amish Country Reunion by Patricia Johns is a heartwarming romance with a soupcon of mystery. I like the author’s engaging writing style. I enjoyed getting to know Genevieve Austin and Scott Simpson. I thought the characters were developed and relatable. You could feel the emotions emanating from the characters as well as the sparks between them. The mystery of the missing watch was well done. There were some interesting twists and turns along the way to solving the crime. I like that the story mixed English with Amish characters. I was surprised to see one word used in the story (starts with an h and ends with an l). I liked the K9 aspect of the story, and I wish the story had delved a little deeper into it. I thought Benjie was a sweetie. An Amish Country Reunion is a touching tale with a bounding Benjie, new beginnings, a missing timepiece, and a second chance at romance.

An amish community Reunion.
Patricia johns.

A story about k-9s
This story has Amish folks in the mix. The best kind with dogs. Always a dog in a story is a perfect treat. I love dogs.🐾 And the english people. It's just a perfect story.

This one is a second chance romance,
Working at being a boss sometimes makes things a little bit difficult. But everything seems to work out .

Genevieve austin , Is checking into the k-9 puppy training center. For a week of retraining and so much more. During this time, there will be things that happen not only with the training center .
There will be interaction with the amish.

Trying to discover something that has happened within the amish community.

Sometimes making extra friends while on the job. Is always special.

A story that involves K9 training, I found that aspect really interesting. Author Patricia Johns brings out that dogs choose who they love. Much like people, isn’t it? And although this was set in Amish Country, it isn’t a story about the Amish. Yes, there are Amish characters but they are secondary.

Well developed characters, Gen is sure everyone else is the problem and the reason why she’s being disciplined. Scott knows there’s more to it but as her former partner he’s not sure they can work together. And loving K9 dog Benjie just wants to be with Scott, not the officer he’s meant for.

A clean romance with some surprises, I highly recommend it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

Police procedures are present for a reason, but placing two former partners in touch with each other, one as her boss, the other as a person who's violated protocol by accosting a senior officer, is the kind of love-hate situation made even more complicated when Trooper Gen Austin tries to solve a mystery affecting a nearby Amish family. Can she solve the mystery of who stole a valuable watch before she ends her time with Sergeant Scott Simpson?

And what is Scott going to do when he doesn't want to be her boss but rather her partner and perhaps even something more? The K-9 dog he's trained serves as a metaphor for what Gen and Scott are also dealing with, but how will it all be solved? For the dog and also for the two humans?

I was able to read An Amish County Reunion from NetGalley. Gen has been issued to work with the K9 training center of the Pennsylvania State Police. She was insubordinate to a supervisor. The training is required to keep her job. Scott is her supervisor for the time being. Scott is her former partner that ghosted her 5 years before. Scott always had a crush on Gen. He purposely kept his distance, now he and Gen have a chance to become more. While they figure it out. There is a theft to solve and dogs to train. I found this book to be very good. I loved the dogs, the romance, and the Amish country setting.

This was a different read, that takes place in Amish Country, but at a State Police K9 training facility.
There is a reunion here of previous partners, it has been five years since Genevieve and Scott have seen one another, and they are now reliving their past attraction, yes, a no no!
The author gives us some dogs with hearts that love to work and please their trainer, some Amish with a few problems, and finding their way despite their fathers.
I loved how the author wove this story together, I was rooting for the pups, and for some sweet romance!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Harlequin, and was not required to give a positive review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this reunion romance between Trooper Genevieve and her former partner, Sergeant Scott Simpson who are brought together at the State Police K9 Training Center. I loved the Amish adjacent storyline and how the mystery within the Amish community helped to bring together Gen and Scott who are both working hard to prove themselves to their respective fathers. I loved how Gen and Scott’s relationship blossomed into a friendship followed by their realisation that they both felt so much more. I absolutely recommend this one, it’s so sweet and heartwarming and will make you feel all the best emotions. Thanks to Patricia for sharing her wonderful story with me early

I really enjoyed Genevieve and Scott’s story and I’m sure you will as well. I was gifted a copy of this book but was not asked to leave a review. Happy Reading

Engaging story. It held my interest. I probably would have read it in one sitting if I had the following day off. I enjoyed the the romance and the mystery.
I thought since it was Love Inspired that it would have a Christian theme. It didn’t. I was disappointed about that.
