R. Vincent Tibbetts was raised in Western Pennsylvania during the 1970's. It was a time when their professional football team captured the heart of a city. It was because of this that the surrounding areas immersed themselves in a culture of winning, however those feelings changed with the death of the steel industry. Witnessing the economic shock-wave ripple through these communities from the gutting of such an industrial expanse had an impact on his psyche. It led him to see his surroundings in a new light, he grew to have an appreciation for how things worked, the workings of the natural world, and developing a mindset for conservation.
His interests in art, photography, and film production brought him to California and a career in the entertainment business where he is a Chief Lighting Technician or Studio Electrician.
He is an entrepreneur at heart. His hobbies include beach volleyball, golf, softball, hiking, camping, and surfing.
An Extraordinary Feat of Imagination - Enthralling and Inventive
This is a really, really imaginative and brilliant book. As a time-travel author myself, I just think this is wonderfully crafted and hugely inventive. I think this is really a fantastic take on Time Travel.
At an unspecified point in the future, time-travel is possible, and a government agency are observing the past. But there is also a more leisurely side to time-travel, which has evolved into, among other uses, an entertainment industry. A company called Tilt Time are offering tourist trips into the past and the chance to participate in various iconic events, with the strict caveat that customers cannot intervene or attempt to change history. The price is steep and only a wealthy elite can afford these transtemporal sojourns. But thanks to a gambler and a loan shark, Tolver and his three friends are given the chance to travel backward in time to watch a Led Zeppelin Concert.
Tilt Time seemingly offers an idyllic and sanitised experience of time-travel, without side-effects or health risks. It boasts of seamless transitions and a flawless safety record, yet conceals from the public both the risks and the true nature of time-travel. Not to mention the frighteningly sentient supercomputers that control the entire process. The young men become embroiled in a nightmarish and terrifying adventure beyond anything they can control or reverse.
I think this book has huge potential and would make an excellent series. I think the world-building is outstanding and would love to hear more about these characters.
Tilt Time by R. Vincent Tibbetts was a Goodreads giveaway winner. Really enjoyed this story of time travel adventures. Reliving the past, but a what cost.
