Data science is a perfect blend of 10 per cent maths, 20 per cent statistics, 30 per cent common sense and 40 per cent applied knowledge. While you can learn maths and statistics, you need to accumulate certain experience for common sense to kick in and apply what you have learnt. This introductory book on data science builds upon an individual's innate knowledge and arms you with the tools to use this interdisciplinary academic field in everyday scenarios. With straightforward real-world examples and applications, it takes you on a path that may seem daunting but is made simple through Professor Raju's easy manner. It endows you with a holistic and flawless understanding of the fundamental principles required to build a solid foundation in data science.
The human brain cannot comprehend large volumes of data. The science of synthesizing data in predictable ways is called Data Science. Data Science: A Beginner's Guide tries to simplify the complex field of Data Science (a science of statistics) by citing real life instances. For example, the inhale/exhale pattern of human beings can be represented in the form of probability distribution curve.
Various studies have observed that this domain is probably the only one closest to human life. Computation of data sets using statistics is explained using Excel.
The concept of safe-zone is illustrated with the help of a new born baby conceived in a hospital. The variation in temperature triggers the baby and it is pacified when placed on the left side of the mother. This place is called a safe zone.
Regression defined as relationship between variables is established with the help of numericals and detailed analysis report generated in Excel. The brief conceptual description of Linear Regression (Relationship between one dependent variable and 1 or more independent variables) and Multiple Linear Regression (Relationship between one dependent variable and between 2 or more independent variables) was understood by someone like me who is completely unfamiliar with Data Science.
The introduction beautifully summarizes the contents of each section. The integrated approach strengthens the fundamentals and gives students a firm grasp of the material that is crucial for academic study and research. Professor C.Raju has streamlined this complex field of study by co-relating the subject matter with familiar instances.
#bookhoarderreviews An interesting book on data science that begins with an example about usage of data when a baby is born. Full of examples from daily life, this book is an apt read for beginners to learn and build their curiosity about numbers and data analysis.
A few parts about probability brought back memories from school when probability was just a chapter to score more. Even though academic in nature, the book seems gripping due to the relatable examples which make the concepts easy to understand.
📇Data science is a perfect blend of 10 per cent math, 20 per cent statistics, 30 per cent common sense and 40 per cent application knowledge.
📇This introductory book on data science triggers the innate knowledge you have. With straightforward real-world examples and applications, it takes you on a path that may have seemed difficult.
📇 It endows you with a holistic and flawless understanding of the fundamental principles required to build a solid foundation in data science
📇 This book serves as an guide with introductory approach to help understand the fundamentals and basics which are required in order to under Data Science.
📌The main aim of the this book is to make make the contents Comprehensive to the people who doesn't belong to the technical background, people who have studied from other educational background can also be able to understand and comprehend the whereabouts of the same.
📌 While belonging to the Maths and Science background, it was much easier and fun for me to read this one, and not only that it's definitive and introductory approach makes it much easier for you to comprehend.
📌 If you're interested in learning about Data Science, a Tech enthusiast, a student and don't know where to start from, then this might be a good fit for you.
This one is a comprehensive and informational guide to introduce you to the world of data science. Explained with easy to understand examples and simplified statistics, I was able to grasp the nuances fairly well, even being from a humanities background. Data visualization, dispersion, probability, distribution and regression are some of the significant topics covered in the book.
Diagrammatic representations, graphs and charts make it easier to understand the difficult topics in a better manner. The inclusion of real life examples and concept driven explanations are a plus. That being said, the statistical portions are not completely easy to understand and require some knowledge and mathematical abilities to fully grasp the theorems.
Overall, this is a good foundational read for those looking to ease into the field of data science.
I love learning new things and Data science is something I'm always curious about, this book was like a treat to me! It's so user friendly and beginner friendly! I loved how easy it is! I absolutely loved it and I will definitely recommend it especially if you are beginner, I'm sure this is not meant for pro learners but it might help them! Overall a great one! Rating: 4
