Honestly, this was such a good book!! Naturally, when I rate books, thrillers/suspense novels usually end up being 3-4 stars just due to the nature of how these books are executed, but not this one! The way the author crafted the story immediately draws you in, and the character development is so well done that you can't help but feel connected to them. The multiple points of view and dual timelines add an extra layer of depth that keeps you hooked. This book has so many elements, and the twists and turns are just thrilling. Even if you think you've figured out the plot, the author's writing style and talent make every chapter incredibly satisfying.
I highly recommend this book if you're looking for a well-written, suspenseful thriller. Most thrillers these days have mediocre writing and rely on surprising twists to keep readers engaged. While those can be fun, they don't always make for a quality read. This thriller is different. Even if the twist doesn't blow you away, the story is so well-written that you could enjoy reading it multiple times. That's why I'm giving it five stars. I'm really impressed by this author and can't wait to read more of her books. I regret passing up the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. I would have gladly sacrificed a night's sleep if I had known how good it was.
First of all, I wanted to say a huge thank you to Laura Snider for my e-copy of this book! I'm extremely grateful to you!
Now about the book, I honestly loved the plot and I thought it was pretty clever. Any book that has a split timeline automatically has my interest. It makes it a more complex plot and it was very fast-paced. I really enjoyed how there wasn't too much unnecessary detail to the point of boring me like I see in a lot of thriller and mystery books.
It was easy for me to assume what the ending would be, but it's just a guess and reading through the chapters had me leaning in other directions of what might have possibly happened.
I did find that a majority of the characters were unlikable to me. I just couldn't find any sympathy for Molly or the other women. But it didn't affect how much I liked the book.
This book deals with domestic abuse and narcissistic people so that part alone made it more interesting. Karma is a b**** and it's always nice when people get what they deserve. I really enjoyed the ending also. This was just a simple and fast-paced book that I feel would be an awesome choice in between longer books if you're looking for a bit of a break.
"It wasn't common knowledge, but pigs ate clothing, bones, meat, nails. It didn't matter if the material was organic or not, they'd eat it. Old Pete once knew a guy who had a heart attack in a pig pen and all that the authorities found of him were his false teeth. The swine ate everything else. Old Pete hoped there was more than just hair and blood left of this person. Something the family could bury. He also hoped that the person had been dead before the pigs started eating.
Death was a part of life. He had accepted that long ago. But it wasn't supposed to be like this. Alone, with livestock munching on your flesh and bones." — "Molly Sand Must Die" by Laura Snider
I've always heard that feeding a dead body to pigs was the best way to get rid of it, but this is my first time reading about it.
Laura Snider is a new author for me, and "Molly Sand Must Die" was mesmerizing. The author maintains a gripping pace without getting bogged down in unnecessary details. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and the twisted conclusion left me snickering. I felt a slight "Fargo" vibe from the book, and I'm a massive fan of that TV series! I'd love to hear your thoughts. It's available now on Kindle Unlimited!
Thanks to the author and Severn River Publishing for the gifted ARC they provided through Edelweiss. All opinions are my own and left voluntarily.
Molly Sand Must Die by Laura Snider Story/Plot: B+ Writing: A- Characters: B Pacing: B Best Aspect: A rope you in fast read. Worst Aspect: The first 20% was so much better than the rest. Recommend: Yes.
Thank you to NetGalley and Severn River Publishing for an ARC of Molly Sand Must Die.
This was a quick and easy read that I loved was set in my home state of Iowa (where the author is also from). I loved to hate the antagonists of the story but I really didn't really feel a connection to any of the protagonist characters. I guessed the ending quite early in the book and I think many experienced readers in this genre will be able to do the same. Overall, not a bad read but a bit too much of a "popcorn thriller" for my liking.
Thank you Severn River publishing for the opportunity to read this arc in exchange for my honest review!
I’m still a fairly new reader to the thriller genre, but the description to this book had me very excited. I was hooked from page one! Just when I had a theory of how the story was going to go the author proved me wrong. The story flowed seamlessly, and I flew through this read. 10/10 recommend reading if you’re looking for a good read.
** my only complaint was I wish trigger warnings had been added
Molly Sand is married (his 5th wife!) to Frank- a womanizing, abusive husband and has two kids. She has no choice or freedom in her life- Frank controls her money, her body, what she eats and wears, even doctor appointments.. and obviously tracks her movements on via her phones location. She was last seen on February 14th.. until a farmer finds his pigs eating what he believes to be the body of Molly 4 months later.
Vivian is Frank’s first wife - the mother to his only other child Frankie Jr. Post divorce she was awarded part ownership of his businesses that were opened during their marriage. She and Frank have a tumultuous relationship & she’s now decided to take him back to court for more child support just a few months before Frankie Jr turns 18.
Angel is Frank’s attorney. She has represented him through every divorce and is believed to be his main confidant. Her husband Mike is an unhappy, dishonest man who has no one but himself as a priority despite being married to Angel and having two daughters with her. He is also rumored to have had an affair with Molly. Then Mike goes missing too.
Where is Molly and what happened to her during those 4 months? Where is Mike? Did he hurt Molly? Did Frank do it?!
All these questions and more throughout the book as we follow Tyrone Gulley sort through the evidence and details and interview people connected to Molly and Frank. Will he be able to solve the mystery of what truly happened?
This book was an absolute surprise in the best way. I could not put it down and finished it in one sitting. The multiple points of view were done well- giving the reader just enough to want more. I loved it and will absolutely be recommending to any suspense/thriller story lovers when it comes out on 8/10/24!

The first couple of Pages of this book had me HOOKED.
“They’d nearly eaten it all, but there were chunks of hair , long hair, possibly from a woman, and blood everywhere. Buckets of it. It flowed out of the pen like a river of death.”
Molly Sand Must Die is a domestic thriller and right out of the gate we find a dead body on a farm being feasted on by Ol Pete’s pigs . 😮💨
Laura Snider's book is a masterpiece, flawless in every aspect. The past and present timelines of the main characters and Detective Tyrone are seamlessly intertwined, creating a fast-paced narrative that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The characters are authentic and multidimensional, each with their own secrets that add depth to the story.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Severn River Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of Molly Sand Must Die.
This is the first book from Laura Snider that I’ve read, and if you’re looking for something that hooks you in quickly, is an easy read that you can finish in a sitting and has twists and turns then this is for you!
I enjoyed it, even though Molly is a bit of a wet blanket - it was hard to warm to her character but I think given what she goes through it’s understandable. There probably could have been trigger warnings at the beginning, as there are portrayals of domestic violence but they aren’t extensive and the story moves on quickly.
I really appreciated the lack of “fluff” - where authors seem to just try and fill pages with unnecessary information to pad out a chapter. This book moved at a fast but not frantic pace, and it was cleverly done. A couple of the twists are pretty obvious early on, but all in all I recommend this as an easy read whether you’re just dipping your toes into the thriller genre, or looking for a palate cleanser between longer books.
Thankyou to NetGalley for an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review. Following detective Tyrone's investigation as he tries to solve the case of the missing Molly Sand. What a fantastic book! I was highly engaged by the brief, compelling chapters that alternated between characters in the past and present, and I found myself eager to read more at the conclusion of each one. Even though my hunch about the tale was correct, I still enjoyed watching it unfold because it was such an easy read! An unwavering 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐. I am grateful to Laura Snider for allowing me to read Molly Sand Must Die.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an advanced copy of Molly Sand Must Die, in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Molly Sand Must Die was such an unexpectedly twisted good time! The characters are mostly unlikable and unreliable. There was a decent amount of SA and DV in this one, so if those are triggering I'd look more into it before jumping into this one. However, the women were the real stars in this, and although I guessed the twist at the end, I was still highly entertained and satisfied. If you love a good revenge plot, this is a solid choice.
It felt very much to me like an episode (or season) of Desperate Housewives, but maybe a tad darker. If you're a fan of Jeneva Rose or Freida McFadden, definitely check this one out.
This book will get your attention from the very prologue. This author does know how to start a book! . A murder needs to be solved and here is the list of the characters involved in the life of the deceased (Molly) : - Frank (Molly's husband) - Vivian (first wife of Frank) - Frank JR (son of Frank and Vivian) - Angel (lawyer of Frank) - Mike (angels husband) - Logan (Molly's Friend) - Tyrone (detective) . *Let me explain a bit how the characters are connected: So Molly's is Frank's fifth wife and has two children with him. Frank is basically an asshole and abuser. Molly's friend Logan helps her with taking care of her kids when Molly goes to the gym (Frank is the owner). Angel is Frank lawyer who is in charge to handle his divorce Case with Vivian. Ironically she also isn't leading a happy marriage life. Which brings us to Mike who is basically good for nothing, no job and lives of Angel's money but he also complains that she is a work alcoholic and gives him no attention. They have two children (Twins). Mike started to go to the Frank's Gym and scheduled his timing same as Molly's. Tyrone is the detective who is in charge to solve the murder mystery. * Molly is death: How, who, what, why. You can find all the answers in one sitting. For this book is written in a multiply pov which brings you to the past pov of Molly to make you see and understand why "MOLLY SAND MUST DIE". . I literally devoured this book and that ending was the best ever. Really cunning. .
Thank you so much netgalley and Severn River Publishing.
I was kindly sent this as an ARC from Laura Snider.
I really enjoyed this fast paced, gripping thriller. The book starts straight away and you know exactly what the story is about… I took an immediate dislike to Frank 😡
The book was written in the pov of Molly, Angel and Tyrone, and had dual timelines.
I found the story interesting, and liked that Laura uses her knowledge of law to explain parts in the story, which I found helpful.
I thought the twist in the story was really clever 👏🏻
“Everyone involved in this mess had reasons to want Molly dead. Everyone had reasons to lie.” These lines are not from the beginning of this book, but they are very descriptive of those who are suspects in her murder and the hurdles the police must overcome to find her killer. The story is told in present and past timelines and from multiple sources, including the victim and the lead detective in the investigation. The opening scene of a farmer’s trip to feed his pigs and what he discovers in the pig pen, certainly is an attention grabber! This domestic thriller deals with, betrayal, infidelity, domestic violence, narcissistic behavior and revenge which may be triggers for some readers. This is a quick, easy read that will keep you engaged to the end.
This was a book I would not normally read in a genre I enjoy occasionally. It was a quick crime thriller read, easy to digest, but too far-fetched to feel any genuine connection to any of the characters. Molly was probably my least favorite character. I struggled to feel any sympathy for her. The author highlighted a few good themes, like the effects of youth and manipulation, bullying, and both spousal and child abuse, but the plot was staid and often predictable. I liked how Laura Snider introduced the story and her main character, Molly, in her opening chapters. Despite a somewhat dime-store plot and characters that weren’t developed well enough to like or dislike, I kept reading. By the middle, I was interested, by the end I was hooked. The story flowed, making this a great little beach read I read in a few hours. Tyrone was my favorite character. He added reality and dimension to an otherwise predictable plot. There were a few twists and turns, such as the ones surrounding Nolan’s character, which helped boost this book to a four for me. The husbands were almost laughable, though, and Frank’s tough, no-nonsense lawyer produced a good chuckle or two. By the end of the story, I knew I would read another by the author. Molly Sand Must Die should be on your list if you are looking for a Lifetime dramedy, a simplistic comedic crime thriller for a quick beach or rainy weekend read. Give the book a chance. You may like the simplicity of Snider’s plot and subplots, which include a lot of interesting backstories about each of her characters. It's a solid three, but I rank it a four because it had me hooked with the opening scenes. Thank you to Net Galley and Severn River Publishing for the free ARC. This review is voluntary.
After reading Laura Sniders’ six Ashley Montgomery books when I was offered an Advance Reader Copy of Molly Sand Must Die there was no question in my mind that I would be reading it. Right from the start I knew this story was different from the Ashley Montgomery stories, and in this case different is simply that - you shouldn’t construe it to be not as good or anything of that nature.
Laura created an interesting cast of characters who develop fully over the course of the story, and in some cases, you can feel an affinity with them and in other cases they are downright repulsive, but each serves their purpose in moving the story along to its conclusion.
Obviously, the story is about Molly Sands, her death, why she must die, and how she died. But there is nothing in this story that is as straight forward as the sentence. It’s also about Detective Tyrone Gully trying to get a big enough closed case to get out of the small town and get back home to Chicago. Gully’s investigation moves this story along at a good pace and as it is being presented in the present, past events are interspersed into the story providing a fuller picture of the story and how events transpired.
If you like whodunits, or murder mysteries Molly Sands Must Die is one you don’t want to miss. It seems this story is an anomaly in that it doesn’t appear to be part of a series. Although I wouldn’t mind following Ty Gully in more cases. As I said earlier, I received an Advance Reader Copy of Molly Sand Must Die from the publisher and chose to provide my review.
I was so excited to dive into this domestic drama around the disappearance of young, beautiful Molly Sand, the wife of a local well-known businessman (and philanderer). Within the first 30 pages, detective Tyrone finds Molly’s purse and blood outside of a pig pen after months of being reported missing. What unfolds is a story of secrets, betrayal, and domestic unrest.
The first 20% of this big will completely draw you in. Because Molly’s blood was found near a pig pen, it is assumed that the pigs ate her, but detective Tyrone is on a quest to find out exactly what happened to Molly.
I loved how Snider alternated between POVs and timelines (before Molly disappeared and after) to create a truly intriguing plot where I desperately tried to piece everything together. The multiple POVs added so much suspense and tension that keeping track of these characters was never overwhleming.
Finally, I hated every single person in this book. 🤣 They were all extremely vicious, disgusting, and (sometimes) morally grey. However, while I disliked everyone, I was still incredibly intrigued by the plot.
This book moves quickly but never feels frantic. It did seem that the author was adding some “padding” to chapters at certain points, but looking back, these were all red herrings that any good thriller would include. “Molly Sand Must Die” is an easy read that you will be able to get through without much difficulty.
If you are a big fan of thrillers, you will probably guess some (or all) of the ending of this novel. I was able to piece together about 90% of what would happen in the last 50 pages. Still, it didn’t decrease the enjoyability of this book, mainly because Snider is such a gifted storyteller. If you want a suspenseful domestic drama with twists, try “Molly Sand Must Die.”
The prologue of this book stuck its tendrils into me and gripped me so dang tight it hurt so be sure to add this to your TBR ASAP !!

Molly Sand Must Die is a domestic thriller and right out of the gate we find a dead body on a farm being feasted on by Ol Pete’s pigs .
Detective Tyrone is called in to investigate and we spiral quickly into a web of deceit, violence, drama and infidelity.
As the story goes on we bounce back and forth between past and present and we see into Mollys life leading up to her death .
This is a smart , fast paced read filled with secrets and unlikeable characters, so be sure to have your snacks and bevy ready because you won’t want to miss all the action in this little gruesome gem of a read with an ending that will shock 😳 you !!
This was such a fun fast paced read but there is some **Trigger Warnings: Domestic Violence , verbal abuse and body shaming **
Thank you so much NetGalley , Severn River Publishing and Laura Snider for this digital ARC !
I was fortunate enough to receive an advanced review copy of this, but that in no way sways my thoughts on this. I enjoyed the way the story developed and unravelled. The story jumps between past and present, and from the point of view of a number of the characters, meaning that you get all of the story from different perspectives. I'll be honest, I definitely predicted the ending fairly early on, but that didn't take away from the enjoyment. I would say that I felt the ending was perhaps a little abrupt though. • The premise is that Molly Sand has been murdered, and eaten by a local farmer's pigs. Detective Tyrone Gully is new in town and is desperate to solve the case quickly so that he can move back to Chicago with his dream promotion. With very little evidence to go on, the prime suspect is Molly's husband Frank, a very controlling & powerful man. But the story isn't clean-cut. Frank's attorney, Angel is also inadvertently involved. Her marriage was falling apart and her husband had his sights on Molly. Mike is also very controlling, with major temper issues. Poor Molly has gone from one bad man to an even more dangerous man, and things are looking fairly bleak for her. So, who is responsible for the death of Molly Sand? Mike is also missing, so where has he gone? And can Tyrone solve the case and get back to Chicago?

MOLLY SAND MUST DIE [2024] By Laura Snider My Review 5.0 Stars
I was not familiar with the author Laura Snider until a new Goodreads friend told me “You’ve got to read “Molly Sand Must Die”! So, I told her I would. I bought and I did read it. Thank you for the recommendation!
Snider sounds like a fun person to know. I could not help but note that this novel is not getting much traction on Goodreads. It should. I thought it was an absolute riot. It is classified as a Domestic Thriller-Legal Thriller. It may very well have been written by a “Legal Thriller” but it is a Domestic Thriller genre designation all the way. I was leaning into a 4-Star Review initially because I was enjoying her colorful and stereotypical character development. I honestly feel like she probably had a ball writing them. They are fun to read!
The author did deploy flashbacks and flash forwards which I sometimes gripe about. But in this instance, she did so using such a simple construct that she was able to maintain a steady rhythm and did not impede the pacing of the plot or the building of puzzlement about what the heck was going on here anyway? In this instance it was necessary that she used flashbacks, or it would have derailed.
Snider deployed the writing technique of using three First Person Narrators, but this was nicely balanced and never uneven or confusing. I loved it when the trap was closing and just adored the ending and the denouement. There was no question that the latter part of the book catapulted the story to 5 Stars.

INTELLIGENT, WITTY, AMUSING, INTERESTING, AND JUST PLAIN FUN
Trapped in a controlling marriage she has no way out of, Molly Sand’s life is spiralling into chaos. Desperate to escape and take her children with her, Molly knows this is going to be a hard battle. Frank Sand, a successful businessman gave Molly a life, but this isn’t his first rodeo. A man with a fair few marriages under his belt, his wife must be the image of perfection, or it’s time to go. Frank relies heavily on his lawyer, Angel Malone, who is experiencing her own difficulties with her vile husband - who seems obsessed with none other than Molly.
As story’s intertwine, Molly is found dead. So many people could have orchestrated this… will the police be able to figure out why Molly Sand had to die?
This book was absolutely top-notch. I cannot fault a single part of it. Laura Snider has created a past/ present timeline following the main characters as well as Detective Tyrone whom is desperate to solve the crime. The story is fast-paced and provides authentic characters with their own secrets. The reader is constantly on the edge of their seat due to the masterful way Snider provides perspective and plot.
I cannot recommend enough to pre-order this book and certainly add to you TBR!
Thank you to NetGalley and Severn River Publishing for an ARC copy of this book.
This book is about a young woman named Molly Sand who went missing on Valentine's day. Her body was discovered by the farmer Old Pete in the pig pen on June 15. The main suspect is her husband Frank Sand who is the richest man in their town, and untouchable thanks to his lawyer Angel Malone. This book is a tangled web of abusive and possessive relationships.
I think this was a very mild and predictable murder mystery. It would make a great palate cleanser after reading something more intense. I found it hard to connect with a lot of the characters, and there were a lot of them. Domestic Violence is a hard subject to talk about and write about, but even with all the things the women were going through, they just didn't feel real. The characters felt forced. Part of that could be that the story was being told from so many different character perspectives at different times. It just didn't feel like I could connect with any of the characters. The best part of the book was the very beginning with Old Pete and the pig pen. It was disgusting, but the book slowed down from there.
I’d like to thank the author Laura Snider for sending me an ARC of this book ✨ I am so grateful that you gave me the opportunity to read this!
Molly Sand Must Die was such a fast and enjoyable read. Molly Sand is a stay at home mother trapped in an extremely unhealthy and toxic marriage. Angel Malone is a lawyer married to a lazy, leech of a man. They have nothing in common except the need to escape. The solution? Molly Sand must die.
As a fan of crime thriller shows, this book was so fun! I liked how Snider uses past and present timelines to weave this story together, really hooking my attention and had me wanting more. I felt so bad for these women and wanted them to find their ways out of their horrible situations. A majority of the characters involved were pretty unlikable. But I feel like with crime thrillers, there is no shortage of unlikable characters. What I do like, is when there’s a satisfying ending 😜
I was able to figure out what was happening, which I think is because I enjoy a lot of crime shows and podcasts. That being said, it was so fun to read about all of the details to the “how” of it all. If you’re looking for a good and quick thriller, then I’d definitely recommend giving this a read!
TW: Rape, Homophobia, Body shaming, Domestic abuse and violence, Cheating
I absolutely loved the premise of this book, but add in the dual timeline and I was hooked immediately. The book was very fast-paced, had a lot of details that were there to drive the plot along, and all of the different connections between characters had me trying to guess what was going to happen.
But I did guess correctly. If you aren't new to the genre, I felt as if it was pretty easy to figure out the ending. That being said, I still enjoyed working my way through all the weaving of characters and the storyline. And based on the book including narcissism and domestic abuse, I loved the ending.
The most difficult part for me was that I just didn't connect to the characters. I thought we didn't know enough about them individually to really care and the ones we knew more about were very unlikeable (though I'm sure that was the point for a few of them!).
Even so, I thought this was a solid thriller read! I was entertained and didn't want to put the book down!
Thank you so much to Laura Snider for providing me an ARC of this book. I appreciate you and look forward to reading more of your work!
The story follows Molly and her husband Frank, showing the ins and outs of their meaningless marriage. After 5 failed marriages Frank still struggles to keep it in his pants 🫣 however Molly isn't allowed to speak to anyone without Franks say so. Despite having 2 children together Frank works all hours of the day and night making Molly wonder where he really is.
Then. Molly disappears.
Go along on the investigation as detective Tyrone attempts to unravel the missing persons case that follows.
What a great read! With short, gripping chapters switching between characters, past and present tense it really kept my attention and I was desperate to read on at the end of each chapter.
This was such an easy read and although my theory of the story was true I loved seeing it play out! I really hope there is a sequel to this book as detective Tyrones story is far from over 😍
A solid 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐.
Thank you to Laura Snider for giving me the opportunity to read Molly Sand Must Die 🫶
Molly Sand Must Die gripped me from the start. It's the kind of "popcorn thriller" that’s perfect for a weekend escape—a book you can devour in one or two sittings.
One of the aspects I really enjoyed was the alternating timeline and multiple perspectives. This narrative structure added layers to the story, creating a sense of mystery and suspense as the plot unfolded. It also allowed for a deeper exploration of the events leading up to the climax.
I struggled a bit with the believability of the age of Angel (35) having supposedly having served as an attorney on a divorce that happened 15 years ago. Unfortunately that timeline became distracting as I found myself having to flip back and double check all the facts to see if I was misunderstanding something.
That small inconsistency aside, if you're looking for a page-turning story that doesn’t demand too much heavy thinking but still delivers on excitement, Molly Sand Must Die is a solid choice.
I would like to thank NetGalley, Severn River Publishing, and the author for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I was hugely flattered to be contacted by author Laura Snider ahead of her new book Molly Sands Must Die being published on the 13th August to be asked for an informal honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. I quickly found myself liking several of the key characters and liked how the chapters alternated between past and present and different characters. The new detective, Tyrone, is an interesting character with back story of his own and this could definitely be continued with another book or even series.
The plot is pacy and intriguing but could have a few more unexpected twists and turns. The storyline, however, is cleverly thought out and when the truth is revealed you can see even choices made at the beginning of the book now make more sense.
Molly Sand Must Die is certainly enjoyable and, whilst having a fairly complicated plot, is easily told making it perfect for those lazy summer days.
When Laura Snider reached out to me I was so excited to read my first advanced copy of a book and this one did not disappoint! Molly Sand Must Die is a thriller set in Iowa that follows 3 different POVs over a past and present timeline. The story mainly focuses on Molly Sand, an abused housewife who’s struggling and looking for escape, Tyrone Gully the new local detective, and Angel Malone, a fierce and confident lawyer. The book follows their stories over time until they all intersect at the dramatic and satisfying conclusion.
This book grabs you from the first chapter and does not let go until the last page. I devoured this book because I had to know what happened. Molly Sand Must Die is an enthralling thriller full of broken marriages, secrets and betrayal. I would definitely recommend adding it to your TBR!
