Love the premise, but guys, please improve the editing.
The premise of this story is really compelling, but I stopped counting after about a dozen errors in the text. If that bothers you to the point that you won't even give a story a chance, consider yourself forewarned. That said, I think this story is still worth it.
I would like to make two suggestions to the authors, though: first, before a character makes a complete about-face in their mindset or method, please include their introspection that led up to that decision; otherwise, it feels like a plot hole.
Secondly, please procure a small throng of beta readers to help with the edits. This book had _many_ more mistakes than the first, and we're not talking about just misspellings, either: there are several instances where the wrong character names are used, a couple of instances where the wrong noun or pronoun is used, and even one or two instances where a phrase is repeated in a sentence.
Again: this is meant as constructive criticism only. I love the story and want to see you guys succeed in expanding your audience, but if it doesn't seem like it's well-edited, it can send a message of apathy to your readers.

Very self contradictive
The start of the book is slow and despicts the protagonist again as fool.. Not enough interesting things are happening in the first half of the book: just never ending pointless talks and banter, slapstick, shopping but hardly any real progress. I was no fan of the author´s apparent desperate effort to make woke points at roughly half of the book.
Unfortunately, the second half of the book is not much better. There is plenty of action but the author can´t get his story straight, contradicts himself or has the characters make idiotic choices and statements. I found the statement that a person who killed hundreds of soldiers coldbloodedly and tortures a person who never did anything to her horribly without a good reason (no new info) just to hurt someone else "a pure soul" hillarious. It reminded me of modern Marvel where apparently every horrible deed is forgiven as long as you are female..
I really disliked that the author now has two different first person view characters as he didn´t bother to state that fact - like George RR Martin - at the start of the chapter.
I won´t continue the serie..

A Thrilling Continuation: Mimic & Me 2
Cassius Lange continues the exhilarating journey of our protagonist in Mimic & Me 2. This sequel seamlessly picks up where the first book left off, plunging readers back into a world of magic, danger, and unexpected twists.
What I Loved:
Engaging World-Building: The world of Mimic & Me continues to expand, with new locations and intriguing cultures. The author's vivid descriptions bring the world to life, making it easy to lose oneself in the narrative. Compelling Characters: The characters, particularly the protagonist and the mischievous mimic, Chester, are incredibly well-developed. Their interactions are both humorous and heartwarming, adding depth and emotion to the story. Non-Stop Action: The pacing is fast-paced, with plenty of action-packed sequences that keep readers on the edge of their seats. The battles are intense and well-described, making them easy to visualize. Intriguing Plot: The plot is filled with unexpected twists and turns, keeping readers guessing. The author masterfully balances character development with plot progression, ensuring that the story never becomes stagnant.What Could Have Been Better:
While the book is overall enjoyable, there are a few instances where the pacing slows down slightly. However, these moments are brief and don't significantly detract from the overall reading experience.
The protagonist just becomes bland and boring. Where he just becomes a simp for the elve which is travelling with him. The female side character is kind of a bland, and her bezerk outburst during the battle seems annoying.During the whole book, the protagonist is just saying yes to everything and agreeing to evey thing.
Overall:
Mimic & Me 2 is a let down for fans of LitRPG and fantasy. It's was supposed to be thrilling adventure that delivers on all fronts, but it fall short to it.
Now seriously doubting if I should book the next book in the series.

A little shifty, in the best way
Though i was frustrated with how the MC kept getting handed exactly what he needed, the fact the world's system wants himself to get this stuff makes a fun add on.
This book did feel like an out of control DnD campaign, with the most generous of honebrews, but thinking of it that way made it easier to read.

Remarkable tale, but editor desperately needed!
The first book was interesting and we'll paced, so I really wanted to check out the continuing story as new directions were proclaimed. I was really happy with the character development and overall story, but there are a TON of typographical errors that detract from this great book. From repeatedly calling the same skill by two different names as well as mangling a primary character name and even calling one tertiary character by the wrong name entirely it was demeaning to the time spent creating their finished work. I certainly will buy the next, hopefully nowhere near the last, book as the story is intriguingly captivating but they sorely need someone dedicated to read for errors for a gratifyingly polished finished.

DNF a little after reunion & I couldn't take it anymore.
I stated in the first book review that I think this is a great starter Litrpg & the premise is really cool. Both of these things hold true still.
It is a good starter Litrpg because it does a lot of annoying things that aren't a big deal for someone who is unfamiliar with systems, magic systems, stats, etc.
The repetitive nature in which the MC states the obvious, remakes a previous point for the 12th time, or counters himself or a previous statement mere pages afterward just ground on my last nerve.
I never see the point in making your MC a fool when he isn't supposed to be one intentionally.

Further adventures of Damon, Malina and Chester
I loved this continuation of the LitRPG adventures of Damon, Malina and Chester. The story had the perfect balance of humor, love, real life issues, danger, machinations, politics, supernatural elements, fighting, and morality. Damon lives in a world where everyone lives within the “system,” which includes skills, abilities, spells, classes, and essence. This book begins exactly where the last book ended - Damon, Malina and Chester have been transported as far away of Eslant, Damon’s hometown, without Kristan or Marco and are stuck on a rock in the middle of a monster infested lake. That’s just the beginning of their new adventure to grow stronger and try to locate Malina’s nemesis. Every time the small band gets out of one mess, another takes its place. The system continues to need to their help to remove the corruption. I love that Damon is a sweet, naive, messy, lucky, sarcastic, kind of dumb, and awkward man who regularly screws up which makes him a very likeable and relatable hero. The story includes what you’d expect from this genre - fighting, dangerous situations, supernatural creatures, evil entities, henchmen, loyal friends, tragic back stories, mystical coincidences, snark, and laughs. I will definitely keep reading the series to see what happens next with Damon, Chester, Melina, and all the new members of their party.

In book two Damon and his mimic are sent as far away from Eslant (the town he was adventuring in book 1) and ends up in the middle of a lake on a large rock with a monster circling around. Once he and his partner escape from that, they end up in the town of Arrdean where four nobles representing different races lead the city. Just knowing that is enough to tell you what happens next.
Book two is less focused on plain adventuring and more on a new problem that has cropped up: corrupted dungeons. There are a lot of pieces at play in book two, and the plot is more complex than in book one.
Having said that the editing is not as good. It is rough around the edges and there are wrong words and misspellings. The group is much bigger now (I'm not going to explain that) which means more characters to keep track of. I think that is also going to be a theme for book three.
The city nobles wasn't as exciting of a story line because we could see it coming a mile away. It was inevitable. The rest of what happens is a lot of fun, and once again Chester (the mimic from book one who now has a name and some independence) provides comic relief. There is less worry in book two about people finding out about the mimic and eventually Chester just does what he wants.

Great addition to the series
First, let’s get my main negative out of the way. I feel absolutely no risk that the MC will ever lose and die or almost fail. The best series I’ve read either have a MC so smart, off screen he has made up some back up plans that he dished out at critical moments or right when he’s at his very last straw and will literally die, ex machina some combo power he hasn’t practiced, or or or, power of friendship saves him. With this series anyone truly powerful isn’t involved with the fight and there isn’t any real danger. I believe the problem is scaling in this world is hard mainly bc the MC is a full rebirth to strong and Chester’s absorb ability added too many skills and stats. If it added 1/3 the amount of stat powers, his power would be more authentic and feel earned, especially if he did more dungeon dives. Too strong, too fast which can be fine but just doesn’t feel right in this series.
But if you just let this be a fast and fun ride and don’t think about that part, it’s pretty fun. MC is going to get stupid strong with lots of skills and magics that no one else will have. Will save the world and defeat all the bad guys. It’s not going to be a S+ ranking but A is on the board

Thoroughly enjoyed the entire series before stopping to post review. So I'm going to copy/paste my response to all four books.
I've been a LitRPG reader/consumer for several years now and a long time D&D player/fan. The idea of a Mimic and a Human joining forces literally and figuratively was very original and entertaining for me. Like any book, there is a soak time you must get thru before the begins to breath for the reader. Your Mileage may vary. Book 1 I listened to on audio while on an 8 hour cross country drive to visit family.
I alternated between reading and listening to the books depending on driving times and eating/quiet times. There is no perfect hit for all readers but for me this was 200% a hit in humor, silliness and serious moments. I read some reviews complaining about hearing a full list of upgrade path options etc, saying why did they have to list all of them if they were going to choose the 1st or 2nd item.
So allow me to provide a clarification for those still reading or considering reading.
1. LitRPG is NOT simple fantasy/fiction where its JUST a storyline of characters.
2. LitRPG is based upon the precept of D&D leveling/Video Game Character leveling combined in a SciFi/Fantasy/Fictional format.
There are entire communities that are dedicated to their favorite authors and seek to create worlds and campaigns based on the ideas, skills, spells, exp etc that an author fleshes out in their novels.
Having read thru several authors across several series each I can quantitatively say that stats pages and upgrade paths can either be boring, exciting or meh depending on who's reading, but always bear in mind that you made that choice when you selected a LitRPG novel over traditional SciFi/Fantasy/Fictional novel. The selections and amount of time spent in this series was substantially less then others authors that I enjoy.
If your looking for fun fantasy, entertaining characters, world building and fantastical monsters and demons - absolutely give this series a try.

Irreverent fun... in a bloodthirsty monster kind of way.
The MC, his mimic symbiote and elven partner Melina wind up on another continent where they visit a city full of strife. The 4 city leaders have an uneasy truce, but are most interested in building their individual power bases rather than running the city effectively. It doesn't end well when corrupted monsters boil out of the nearby dungeons to sack the city. Luckily their friends find them and help.
Chester, the mimic is a gluttonous monster who desires to eat just about anyone he can, be they person, animal or monster. He also absolutely loves cake, go figure. The adventurers tear through some dungeons before the poop hits the fan. Then the murder hobo bloodletting really begins, but in a fun though gruesome way.
Love the cover page with the monster meat wagon. The lighter side of bloodthirsty monsters ravaging the world.

liked it more than book one
I enjoy the characters presented here, but I find the … game/stat/world? aspects get in the way of the tension. If in a fight I am just waiting for the hero to remember to use a skill they picked up a chapter earlier because it will solve their problem and both the author and I know the character can do it… I don’t like waiting in an attempt to milk the fight for more. Just solve it and roll on.
Thankfully there were only a couple of these dragged out battles (which might be a minus if you are the sort that read these books for them) but as it starts with one if the opening chapters don’t work for you bail as the book doesn’t change its approach.

Speed run, powerleveling. I suppose that's for the best when your primary method of gaining skills and power is by EATING your enemies. Perhaps we don't have the stomach for more than that. :)
Even so, it's a speedy story with exploration on the far side of the world with tons of weak peeps. It certainly made for an interesting alternative tale, forcing us into creative LitRPG solutions.
Not bad at all. And Chester, as always, is a goofball.

"Meat Wagon of Death!" and "has the attention span of a concussed gold fish" will live with me forever. Thank you.
A solid continuation from the first adventure of Chester and Damon as both mature and gain trust in each other and the plot expands with the world they are exposed to. And more cake obviously.
There were only a few minor areas of the book that threw me off a little, sapient reactions that didn't make sense but other wise very solid writing and I'm looking forward to the 3rd book!
The SBT team continues to take these great books and expand on them in ways I would have never considered had I just been reading the text copy adding to the experience!

fun
This story continues to entertain. It is a quasi standalone; the previous novel helps greatly but isn’t strictly needed. Chester is an absolute chaotic delight. The narrator is a treat. It held my attention beginning to end and launched me straight into the next one.
The MC is in a new city on a new continent. The locals are antagonistic and keep pushing his buttons including ignoring him about a pending threat until he has no choice but to save the city from monsters and their own leaders. But it also lets him reunite with friends he had to leave behind.

Great story, poor editing
I love this story, but either the beta readers (if there are any), the editors, or both really dropped the ball. The shear number of grammatical and formatting errors were often distracting. That’s not even counting the continuity breaks, one of which was in consecutive sentences. None of them broke the story in any significant way though. They were mostly a character’s action followed by a repeat of that action as if it hadn’t just happened. Here’s hoping book 3 has fewer issues. 😁

Great story, editing meh
If you want a rather original and fun story, this is a good one, so I recommend it. And, I’m looking forward to sequels. That said…the editing is not great and really disrupted my enjoyment of this book and the first one in the series. For example, the pervasive “me and ” clauses are almost always incorrect usage and very jarring to read. Creativity: 4. Editing: 2.

Monster's make good friends 3.5 stars
It's a fun story with some twists on the usual path litrpg takes. How much will Damon change as he continues to increase symbiosis with Chester. Are there other worlds beyond this one. 404? Hmm hmmm

Very long build up to meeting with old friends and the final fights. It felt like the fights at the end went too quickly.

It's a fun story with some twists on the usual path litrpg takes. How much will Damon change as he continues to increase symbiosis with Chester. Are there other worlds beyond this one. 404? Hmm hmmm

Fun And Entertaining With A Good Amount Going On
Nicely paced even with something happening nonstop. Love the slight goofiness mixed in with the somewhat heavier stories. Liked the character progressions they are pretty good as well. Entertaining and Fun throughout, can’t wait for the next one.

Couldn’t put this down! Wouldn’t put it down! Why not a 5? “Long story short”and “that being said” stop using these vapid phrases! The character development was spot on, the action and progression were well paced and minus the aforementioned vapid phrases this is an outstanding series and I can’t wait for the next one!

Great story but typos!!
Man, this is a fun series. A little bit of slapstick comedy, adventure and fun.
It'd be 5 stars if it weren't for the typos. I can't tell if it was rushed but a bit of editing and proof reading goes a long ways.
Still, solidly looking forward to the next book!

Better towards the end
This was a good read, likable characters, not overpowered bad guys. Decent story, fairly boring at times, but not enough to stop reading. Damon and Chester are great characters, and the addition of Melina make for a interesting trio. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Give me cake and 3rd book
Absolutely love the series of Damon and Chester in following along with the story from a mimic in a dungeon and Damon being betrayed to Damon and Chester becoming something greater and battling the odds and overcoming every obstacle. To friendship and to most importantly to cake and cookies.

pretty good. The mimic brings a fun and fresh element. Trouble with reading an unfinished series is you kinda forget things that are brought up again at a later date. Like I forgot the hero has an adopted brother who is a prince, be he starts out as a lowly scout.....totally forgot about that as the mimic steals the show.

A fun series if not the best written
Its a fun series and a fun book but a lot of things are passed over or don’t make sense if you think about it. Okay for a casual read with a good amount of fun bits or situations, just don’t expect anything worthy of high praise as many will enjoy it as a worthwhile read.

1 enjoyed this one more than the last one. Chester was way funnier this time.
The plot was better & there was more action which made it more entertaining.
I can’t wait to see how the next one goes, hopefully there will be more books to come.

Meh, not terrible, but this seems to be more wish fulfillment than anything else. The comedic relief is not well integrated into the dialogue. The side characters are all one dimensional. The bad part is the system interaction dialogue, inconsistent. Narrators were fantastic and the only reason I finished this installment. I'm done with the series, but it would probably appeal to a teenager.

Chester makes me laugh and I just Love when he speaks with a Scottish Accent!!
This story just keeps getting better with all the strange creatures and characters as it goes on. This is definitely a series that needs to be listen to from the start.
The group of narrator does a Very entertaining job with the various characters voices and the entire storyline.

it just gets better..
Tried the first book since looked interesting. Fun plot with plenty of humor and simple character development. But damn, this second book is next level. Only con is now I have to wait for the next one!

Another great book involving Chester and his team. I was so glad to see the whole team get back together again at the end. Awesome new skills, spells and tricks.
