Wounded.
Judged harshest by his own heart after the greatest of sins, Elijah Smith imposes the most brutal of punishments upon himself. He is now a fallen angel, cast down by his own hand—lost, suffering, caught between two worlds, and searching for redemption.

Scars.
Scarred emotionally and physically, Naomi Evans has always put her happiness aside to repay her debt to the one who saved her. Never quite fitting into her friendly little town after being abandoned as a child, she’s not sure love will ever find her aching heart.

Redemption.
New Destiny, Arizona will never be the same. Two strangers have rolled into town, shaking Heaven and Earth. One, a handsome loner is temporarily stranded and biding his time, quietly bestowing random acts of kindness on total strangers until he can be on his way. The second, an undercover Cupid named Michael, is determined to bring healing and true love.
His assignment? A fallen brother and his equally wounded soulmate.
Will Naomi be able to see past both their scars? Can Elijah ever forgive himself?
Is such redemption possible?

Wounded Wings by Shauna Allen was the first book I read in 2014. It is the third book in the Cupid Chronicles series. However, any of the three books may be read as a stand alone. Book one was Inked By an Angel and book two was The Halo Effect, both of which I loved. But as much as I loved the first two books, this, my first read of 2014, moved my heart and soul. I fell hard for our fallen hero protagonist, Elijah. I absolutely adored his awkwardness and cluelessness. I could just see Naomi's raised eyebrows at some of the things he said and did.
And the cast would not have been complete, except for Michael, the angel working in the Love Detail and so close to an angelic promotion. These characters were very much alive to me as I read their story.

I laughed, I cried and then I cried some more. Shauna Allen outdid herself with this book and I believe it was the best of the three books. She saved the best for last, but as I read her story, I read her heart and soul and her words blessed me in such a tender way. She touched my heart and soul with her beautiful story. Is it fickle to say, this is the best book I have read? Maybe I was in just such a place that this book could reach me and affect me so greatly. It is a fast paced read, interesting, clever, funny, poignant, sweet and romantic.

Eeep! Full review will come soon but for now...holy crapola I am in LOVE!! Another awesome job from the amazing Shauna Allen!

See full review on my blog!

I received a copy of Wounded Wings for an honest review.

Holy smoke! Shauna Allen has done it again! I fell in love with The Cupid Chronicles from the first book Inked by an Angel and that was it for me. I was in love. Shauna did not disappoint with Wounded Wings and from the first two sentences I kid you not I was in love.

Elijah is a fallen angel. After cutting off his wings he tries to find redemption and ends up right in loves lap. Naomi gave up her dream of nursing to help her adoptive mother Vi with her bakery. Enter Michael and destiny and BAM you have a fantastic read that will have you reading through the night.

I loved the whole book honest to goodness. I loved how both characters were scarred and how both of the main characters connected to each other and how they continued to be all “I’m not into you” thing.

Oh oh and the ending the ending! How they brought in the characters from the other books and how it hinted a certain someone will be finding love in the future! So freaking happy.

The characters ALL of them were amazing even the creepy magazine guy because he made Elijah jealous which was totally awesome. Elijah was such a sweet heart always caring and helping people without really trying to. Naomi was such a strong character and always so caring when it came to the people she loved she is definitely one of my favorite female characters.

All in all, get the book. I love how all the characters like God and the Angels seem so human. While they see past to the divine thing it wasn’t overpowering the book which I loved. I’m not hugely religious so you’d think I would have some reserves on that but honestly Shauna Allen writes it so amazingly I honestly couldn’t imagine not loving this series.

Thank you Shauna Allen for sending me a copy of you amazing book! Definitely one of the best one’s all year!

"It doesn't make me uncomfortable. Just confused."
"Confused?"
"Yes"
"Why?"
"Well, because when you kissed me the first time? His eyes darkened, hooking her. "I was in no pain and yet, I feel the same."
She swallowed. "What do you feel?"
"I feel..." He shifted his weight and huffed a breath as if frustrated with himself. "All I can seem to think about anymore is you, Naomi. I want to be with you. I want to see you smile. I want to go out with you again, on a real date." He gazed into her eyes with a dark unsmiling gaze. "I want to kiss you."

In Wounded Wings by Shauna Allen, Elijah is a "Fallen One. Cast down by his own hand." Elijah is a former love angel, now working a chef in New Destiny, Arizona. He is striving to find his way in the human world and to find redemption. "...it was up to him to prove his soul worthy of - well, anything but eternal damnation."

When he meets Naomi, who has her own scars inside and out, he feels things he doesn't understand...and Shauna gives us an at times hilarious, laugh out loud and yet emotionally charged story. Neither Naomi or Elijah feel they are worthy of anything more than they have or are, and yet they are drawn to each other life no one before. They both have a lot to learn about themselves and each other...and that sometimes love works in mysterious ways. Can a human and a former angel have a chance at love?

Shauna takes us on a memorable journey with Elijah and Naomi. I absolutely loved that she was able to give us a love story that will take the reader so much deeper than the pages and really make you think and feel. Shauna makes Wounded Wings very realistic even with the idea of angels among us. I loved that the general story line of Wounded Wings parallels real life...the feelings, the emotional ups and downs, and dealing with past issues. The chemistry between Naomi and Elijah jumps out at you as soon as they meet, and it grows stronger throughout Wounded Wings. I love that that chemistry is there and so out in the open, but not over the top, along with the spiritual side of Elijah and Naomi.

Wounded Wings is a book that's easy to immerse yourself. Shauna's smooth writing and descriptions of the characters and events will take you there! I loved all the secondary characters that really pumped up an already great read!

This is the first book of Shauna's that I've read and she is an author I will definitely be reading more of! Although this is the third book in this series, it can definitely be read as a stand alone. I had no trouble falling into this story, but reading Wounded Wings will make you want to read the other books!

I'd highly recommend Wounded Wings to any romance reader looking for laughter, real feelings and that feeling of what if? Loved it!

This is a light and easy book to read. The romance is slow to develop, but I enjoyed the wide cast of characters and their involvement in the story. It wasn't just about Eli and Naomi, but also about the townspeople around them. It helped show other facets to their character and develop them on other levels outside the romance. Expect some emotional and touching scenes that will grab at your heartstrings.

Both Eli and Naomi have some tough pasts, but they also come across as rather innocent. For Eli, this is because of his giving up his angel status just a few months before. He's still finding his way living among humans and there are many experiences he's yet to have. There are some comical moments, including his first kiss and his not knowing what to do about it. With Naomi, she had it rough growing up and has some insecurities to overcome. It takes the two of them helping each other to heal those wounds.

I'm normally one for the dark bad boy types, which Eli most definitely wasn't, but this was a great book for taking a break from that. It had a wholesome and sweet feel to it. There are some paranormal elements, but they aren't strong and mostly on the periphery. The one thing that had me stumped is Eli was supposed to be an expert at helping people find love, but he seemed rather clueless when it came to Naomi. How could he give such great advice to others, yet not understand his emotional and physical reactions to the woman he was attracted to? It was just a bit conflicting for me.

Despite that one hang-up, I really enjoyed the story. I'd definitely recommend this to readers who enjoy romances that aren't rushed and build slowly as the hero and heroine get to know each other. It's a great novel and I'm glad I had a chance to read it.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

Elijah Smith is a man with a heavy heart. You will see how much his pain consumes him. Naomi Evans works at the town bakery and she has some scars of her own. Michael Smith comes to town and he’s a man that knows about Elijah’s background.

One good thing about this book is it’s about Elijah’s journey as a human. Nothing in real life always runs smoothly so we shouldn’t expect all our heroes to not go through what we mere mortals go through. And whose to say that a little competition can’t bring people closer together. Sometimes people just need a little push. And outward appearances aren’t always important.

Our author makes us believe that anything is possible. Where is it written in stone what cupid is to look like or even how they are supposed to act? This was one of those books that once I started to read; I just couldn’t put it down. First it was one more sentence, then it was one more paragraph and then it was one more chapter. Because of work, I was able to get this book read in just a couple of days. This is an author I will continue to read what she puts out. And I recommend that if you are someone that likes fantasies or love stories about angels, make sure to read this book.

Shauna Allen has created a colorful, warm, and sensual story. Normally, I don't like heroes that are not strong and caring. With the hero, Elijah, the author has given him a valid reason not to be strong. Who would have thought of an angel punishing himself by cutting off his wings and becoming human? Well, if vampires can walk in the daylight and shimmer, then an angel can cut his wings off. This gives Elijah the perfect reason not to understand what he is doing as far as the heroine and how to act toward her or the responses his now human body is experiencing. Loved the humor when he went on the internet to seek out what illness he has and the various ones that he thought were afflicting him.

The heroine, Naomi, is strong in her conviction and drive to repay the love she had received from her foster parents. As you learn of her troubled past, you understand the growth her emotions show as she grows closer to Elijah. The sexual tension you see in Naomi keeps you wondering if she will ever accept Elijah.

A great book that will make you want to read the first two books in the series.

I had the privilege of an ARC to read before publication.

Shauna Allen created an Angel who has issues. This caught be by surprise since most of the Angel books I have read, the Angel is always perfect - helping people. I have to say - it was a nice surprise to find out that Elijah Smith cased himself down and is now learning how to survive as a person. Though he may have retained his angelic beauty - he has no clue how to behave as a person.
Naomi Evans has her own issues that we learn about. It's like Fate is playing a hand here trying to get these 2 people together. Naomi is the baker in the little tiny town that Elijah's car breaks down in. He is hired at the diner and once they find out he can really cook (one of his Angel gigs was as a chef at a 5 star restaurant in NYC), he starts making delicious delicacies which is slowly putting Naomi out of business.
I enjoyed this book enough to read it twice already. It flows nicely and is a fairly quick read. I tend to get bored easily if a book stutters but this one kept me interested cover to cover. I look forward to the rest of the series.

This was my first book by Shauna Allen and I was hooked at the start of the Prologue! I was so impressed with Shauna's writing style. It flowed very well and I couldn't hardly put the book down. It isn't the typical story line that I would pick out to read but I so enjoyed this one very much

You felt Eli Smith's pain from the very start of the story and it stayed with you through the entire book. He is a very different hero but a hero nonetheless. He gave so much of himself, was a bit naive and didn't feel worthy. Naomi Evens was a strong woman who gave so much of herself to others but had had a hard start in her life. When she and Eli were in the same room sparks flew! She couldn't understand Eli's reluctance to be in a relationship with her which added to her own insecurities and caused such pain for her.

This is the first book I've read by Shauna Allen and I was hooked. Had a hard time putting it down. The idea of a fallen angel and how he learns his way through the human world is intriguing and different. Then throw in another angel whose assignment is to find love for the fallen angel Elijah. The toughest job is the other half of his assignment Naomi, she has a hard time putting her happiness first because she feels like she has to pay a debt to the woman who saved her and she has a hard time trusting good things can come her way. One major factor is Naomi's reaction to the life Elijah had before he fell. Will she believe him or will she let the opportunity for a family pass by? One character that stole my heart was a little girl named Emma. She was just too cute!

I went into this story not having read the previous two in quite some time, so for me, it was as the author had intended: a stand-alone novel. Sadly, I didn't care for it.

Naomi was such a shrew! She was so unbending and distrustful, which was somewhat explained, but she took it to such an extreme! Eli was difficult to relate to, and took his guilt to an unhealthy extreme as well. I didn't like how Michael kept forcing the two of them together, and was just bored with the book in general.

With how lackluster my reviews for the previous two books were, I think this is one series that is worthy of abandonment.

I love the way Shauna Allen writes. She makes me believe that angels do exist!

Eli is a fallen angel and Naomi was abandoned as a child. Both Eli and Naomi have baggage and scars. Can they both work through their issues to find love?

Their story is so emotional and pure, yet steamy and sexy. I don't know how Shauna does that - but she does.

I love all of the books in this series. I love each of the characters for different reasons. I look forward to reading everything Shauna Allen writes.

Read this book - you will love it!

I truly enjoyed the development of the characters throughout this book..it had a wonderful portrayl of what could happen when an angel believes he has gone against the Father. The ensuing romance of two scarred individuals coming together makes you believe in true love. I just started reading the books from this author and have a hard time putting them down once I start the book..You will truly enjoy them.

This is book three in the Cupid Chronicles series, and it is amazing! It will hook you from the start! You can feel the emotions of Elijah just oozing out of the pages as you read. I was sad for the book to end because I wanted more!! Shauna Allen really knows how to get you invested in her characters. Loved this book so much! Shauna is one of my favorite authors! Michael, everybody’s favorite Cupid has his work cut out for him this time. He’s tasked with matching a fallen brother. Is this even possible? In Wounded Wings, Shauna Allen had given us Eli and Naomi, two equally scared souls in need of redemption. This beautifully crafted story is touching, humorous, and uplifting. I highly recommend it

I haven't read any of the other books in this series, but I really liked this one. Eli is very naive and doesn't seem to be able to ask for help from anyone, but wants to help others (although reluctantly sometimes). Naomi is strong, but she has such a vulnerable side to her also. If they had just communicated, they probably would have resolved their problems sooner.

This is a wonderful story of sacrifice, forgiveness and finding love! Eli is a fallen angel trying to find redemption for a past failure. Naomi is also trying to find her way. The characters draw you into their lives and keep you captivated throughout the story. This is a great book and I look forward to reading more from Shauna Allen in the future.

It is a sweet story about what can happen when you can not forgive your self or see pass your differences as seen by others. The fun part is the Angels involved in a small town to help others pass these issues. Ms Allen has a nice look at what Angels are doing in her "world". Enjoy

I was given the ARC to read and review.

This story was sweet and I especially liked the way the author was able to convey Elijah's 'innocence' in his human interactions. His interactions were well defined as someone who was unaccustomed to social skills.

I enjoyed this story and look forward to Ms. Allen's other stories.

Another gem from Shauna Allen. Can't wait to read Tristan's story now! I really love this series and find it very inspiring to read. I would have liked to have a little more of a connection to the previous stories, but it's definitely understandable why there isn't as much in this one. Maybe in the next one.

Elijah Smith, the fallen angel is coping with trying to live as a human. When his car breaks down in a small town he learns to live, love, and fit in. Naomi Evans gave up her dream to help the women who raised her live hers. Scarred from the past she struggles to accept this new stranger.

This book had so many emotions. Eli and Naomi were both broken individuals who had a hard time accepting something good for themselves. They both had a heart of gold and made sure everyone around them was happy. There relationship was a real struggle with many ups and downs. There were times you wanted to throttle each one of them and then times you wanted to hug them.

Set in a small town you will get to know all the characters and feel like you are home. As you hope Eli and Naomi find there was to each other you will see the rest of the town find happiness.

Wounded Wings by Shauna Allen
Dedication and acknowledgements and location included at the start.
Elijah is grieving her being gone...story goes back in time to when he is at a diner and notices Naomi who's dropped off bakery items...
He ends up being the chef there as the last one had just up and left...
Story also follows Michael and he's on assignment and knows who Elijah is....
Beautiful that others come to her aid to help with health emergencies so she stays above water.
Other medical emergencies bring them together and also make them hesitant to one another.
She does not want the benefit to be rescheduled, it must go on.
When he realizes Naomi has gotten under his skin he knows what he has to do...
Like that there are just a handful of characters, easy to keep them straight.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

One of the best book!!

Elijah is a fallen angel of his own making. He fell in love with a beautiful woman who was destined to leave this world. Out of grief he cuts his own wings and set on a path of loneliness. During his travels he settles on a small town where he not only helps the residents find love but finds what he's needs. This book was so original and well written that I read it in one sitting. Absolutely one of the best book I've read in a long time.

Elijah is a tormented man. Well a fallen angel to be exact. And he is trying to do whatever he has to to gain favor again with the heavenly father. Thinking he broke one of the Angel commandments he has purposely condemned himself to life on earth. And with this new town hopes to move right on to better things. What he doesn't count on is Naomi or the feelings she brings out in him.

Naomi has given herself to the bakery and what she feels she feels she owes to the only woman she calls mother. Neglecting her dreams of nursing, she puts all into the family business until the sexy new French trained cook at the diner threatens it all. But as they work together closely the attraction just becomes more than she can handle. And with Elijahs wishy washy feelings and attitude how can she know what is the right thing to do.
Will they finally come together and stop fighting their feelings or will they forever be apart?
Can Elijah overcome his torment and believe he deserves the love of Naomi or Wil he forever chastise himself and live his life alone??
Love this whole series and the world Shauna has created here!!

After all his time in love detail, Michael is getting promoted to being the new leader for the love detail. After one more challenging case. Michael was given the case of Eli and Namoi. They both have had trouble with love in the past and have hardened their heart towards it. But when they start to fall for each other the both in their won way fight it until there is nothing to do but accept it or run from it. Will Michael be able to help them find their way. To having the love they deserve or will he fail his last mission?
Wounded Wings is the third book in the Cupid Chronicles, it can be read as a stand alone, but would be enhanced if read with the rest of the series as they do build on each other's characters.

Anyone perusing my list of reads will find that, although I enjoy books in the paranormal genre, I don't usually read books about angels mixing with humans in romantic situations. It's a concept that just doesn't fit my usual taste.

That being said, Allen's book was a refreshing change from my usual reading fare. Though there were spots in which I had difficulty connecting with the characters or plot line, I found it to be an overall enjoyable read.

I was given an ARC by the author for an honest review.

Erm..., I honestly don't know what to say, I enjoyed the first two books but this one was a little too much with the god element I'm not deeply religious so it kinda fell flat for me I thought it really came across as preachy towards the end and I didn't really want to finish it but I made myself, it had a good start because Michael was in it from the first two books but even he couldn't summon up my interest towards the end. It's a personal thing I guess.
