I've written 17 books on different aspects of astrology, meditation and self-development. I do my best to make these subjects as woo-woo-free and practical as possible.

My Mind Won't Shut Up! was written with my sister Linda. We're sturdy-legged, chip eating meditating sisters from Scotland. The world needs a panpipe-free, meditation book for people like us - with money worries, weird families and short attentions spans.

The Little Book of Astrology was written to encourage beginners to move past Sun signs and delve into what can be lifetime's study. I've been learning about at my own astrology chart and the charts of the people in my life, for over 30 years. I still find new things about the birth charts all the time - just as I discover new things myself and the people around me.

I came upon this book, along with a few other occult books, at the front of the library for their special/new books. Being an astrology fan, I picked it up.

I loved the design and layout of the book, but I quickly realized that reading all the sun and moon combos would bore me to tears, so in the past couple of days, I only read the sections that interested me. I haven't read the whole book, but since this is reading for fun and not for school, I don't believe in forcing myself to read. I read the sections on Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Leo, Capricorn, and Scorpio (minus the sun/moon combos).

My favorite parts of the book were the sections on Scorpio and the analysis of charts at the end of each zodiac sign chapter.

Neat to finally learn how to read those birth charts with any coherency. Otherwise, this book reads like a standard book of astrology for the sun signs and moon signs, along with their respective compatibilities. As always with astrology, I take it with a grain of salt and enjoy its whimsy. The version I read is an intricate hardback cover that is a wonder to hold in my hands. Fancy presentation!

What I'm not a fan of is recommending astro.com as a user-friendly free online resource, as they require an email and birth date to access anything free. And there's several links that can mislead careless readers into their paid courses. I recommend using Cafe Astrology instead.

I’m not a huge fan of modernizing the examples of astrology. It really “dates” the information in a tacky way. One star was deducted for that but the information itself was wonderful. I learned a lot about sun signs!

This was a little too modern for my tastes. I was hoping to read something more timeless regarding astrology than this. But I’m sure many people will love it. It just wasn’t what I was expecting.
