A Night to Forget #1-2
A Night to Forget Series Box Set: Emma's Story
The Emma's Story Series, a sexy New Adult box set, contains the following books:
A Night to Forget (Book #1)
The Day to Remember (Book #2)
What happens in Cancun doesn't always stay in Cancun.
When Emma Anderson and her friends decided to spend their senior year Spring Break in Cancun, she expected some crazy memories to end their final college days. What Emma didn't expect was to meet Brandon Fisher. Tall and sexy, with dimples that would make any girl swoon, Brandon Fisher was literally the man of Emma's dreams. She couldn't quite believe that this stranger, who seduced her every night in her dreams, actually existed.
After serendipitously bumping into each other, Emma could not resist Brandon's pull and spent an unforgettable night with him. Passing it off as a spring break fling, Emma never expected to see Brandon again. But when she started her first day at her new job a few months later, there he was.
When Emma begins to fall in love with the man from her dreams, she wasn't expecting that both her and Brandon's secrets and pasts would threaten to pull them apart.
Will Emma and Brandon's inextricable pull for one another be strong enough to withstand the external factors that seem to pull them apart, or will Emma's dream man be nothing but just that--a dream?

Jessica Wood writes contemporary romance.
While she has lived in countless cities throughout the U.S., her heart belongs to San Francisco. To her, there’s something seductively romantic about the Golden Gate Bridge, the steep rolling hills of the city streets, the cable cars, and the Victorian-style architecture.
She loves a strong, masculine man with a witty personality. While she is headstrong and extremely independent, she can’t resist a man who takes control of the relationship, both outside and inside of the bedroom.
She loves to travel internationally, and tries to plan a yearly trip abroad. She also loves to cook and bake, and—to the benefit of her friends—she loves to share. She also enjoys ceramics and being creative with her hands. She has a weakness for good (maybe bad) TV shows; she’s up-to-date on over 25 current shows, and no, that wasn’t a joke.
And it goes without saying, she loves books—they’re like old and dear friends who have always been there to make her laugh and make her cry.
The one thing she wished she had more of is time.

For such short books, the story felt repetitive and drawn out. The characters were too sweet and I found myself skimming quite a bit.

A Fantastic Love Story...
First let me say, I read / listened to these books in audio format via audible.com. I always grab audio versions when I can as audio breaths life into books. Audio offers accents, multiple voices & excitement in all the right places, not to mention audio allows us to be hands free for th multi taskers in us for yard work, driving and so on...
The version I read had books 1 & 2 combimed together, so I will leave the same review for each book on amazon. If you get a chance to read this series, go for it. The books are so worth it!!!
Book 1: A Night to Forget: Emma & Michael had been together for over a year & Emma was still a virgin. Emma was holding out for Mr Right and Michael wasn't it. For several months now Emma has been dreaming of Mr Right & even having sex in her dreams. On spring break, Emma & Michael break up the night before she was to leave for Cancun. Emma saw it coming and wasn't too upset about the break up.
Down in Cancun, Emma swore one day she saw the man she had been dreaming about. She didn't see him again until the last day of her vacation. Emma was plastered and then he found her. He (Brandon) worked for the event that Emma was to be at, but Emma missed the boat, so he went looking for her. They slept together that night and it was magical or was it a dream? Emma never heard from Brandon again.
Now after graduating, Emma gets hired into a firm and Brandon is her boss. Does he remember her? What happens from here, you have to read the book.
In Book 2: A Day to Remember, Emma and Brandon become an item. Brandon's ex-girlfriend shows up one day and all hell breaks loose. This becomes a rocky road for the two lovers. With all her heart, Emma has to let him go... I even really liked Damien, a self proclaimed man whore (too funny). I didn't like Desiree at all, but I understood her part.
These books were well written. I had expected them to be smutty, but they weren't at all! They are fun, sexy and witty. The plot captured my attention to the point I didn't wan;t the book to stop! Now I wish there was more books for Emma and Brandon. The Epilogue was fantastic. It even made me cry. I absolutely loved these books!!!
The author, Jessica Wood did a great job writing these books. What a great imagination to write them as she did with all the happenings in them. The narrator, Lynn Barrington did a great job reading them to us! With her multiple voices and accents. Together these two ladies made great storytellers! Just Wow!!!

book 1 I have to say this book was all and more then what I was expecting. You have your dream guy literally come to life Emma has been having dreams of the man of her dreams and low and behold during a trip she meets him. You have excitement, thrills and an outcome you never expect after a night of passion. Read this book you will enjoy.
book 2 i would like to start with another home run. this book start where you left off in a night to forget. you have poor Emma trying to understand how her relationship could have just changed in one night, then how could the man of her dreams literally let her down so bad. she is determine to not let this break her. at the same time Brandon is so confused not sure what just happen, first he has the woman he is madly in love with the next she is running out of his life. you read the story and you can definitely relate to the way Emma handles the relationship, she does what any woman would do call your girlfriends and plan the next move. but she does realize that it is going to be harder then she thinks. in the process of trying to forget she meets Damian at the bar. will love be able to keep them together or will des have her way and split them up for good. with every page you will have love, hope, lies and deception that could have been avoided. you will turn every page wanting to know what's next, does she go does she stay. can they work through it all or will Damian be the final release. this book will not disappoint. I had the pleasure of seeing this story grow and i really enjoyed every aspect of there story. thanks Jessica for putting the story to paper and allowing me to read your work

May 20, 2014Please note this is just my opinion and I am explaining why it did not work for me. I will still read other books by the author. I have loved her other stories and characters, just not this one. I had to DNF this one, unfortunately.
I was excited to read this, but I could not connect to the characters.
The heroine did something that was out of character, but that is not what drew me away from the book.
The heroine's friends...they annoyed me. A lot of their interaction could have been eliminated. I understand the heroine went to spring break with them, but I really did not care about what they did, said, or anything. I felt the story was about Emma and her friends and not about the hero and the heroine. Even when she got her job, I felt like she called her friends about everything. Not sure if that changed after I stopped reading.
Friends??? I went on spring break with a group of girls, but we never, EVER left anyone behind. No matter what. The heroine just accepted it.
By the time we saw an interaction between the hero and heroine, I lost focus in the story and could not connect. I loved Jessica Wood's other books. Emma's Story was just not for me.

3.5 stars
This NA story is not typical for the genre; it's not full of angst or rebellion or pain. It is a simple story of love at first sight. While the characters do face certain obstacles to their happiness, the characters continued to feel a little naive to me and I never felt they grew as characters or people very much.
The first book is written in first person and is entirely from Emma's POV. The second book was still written in first person, but suddenly the author starts head hopping. Thankfully, each change of POV is titled with whose head we are in. But after spending an entire previous book hearing only Emma's POV, every single switch jarred me out of the story. I never did feel like I understood the other characters. Please note that the narrator (for audiobook) did a great job of differentiating the voices; it wasn't her fault that I couldn't get into the other POVs.

Marginally Better
The second book is just marginally better than the first. The depth of the heroine's maturity is baffling. A lady came to her boyfriends door and claimed she was his girlfriend and Emma just took off from that point. She did not let Brandon explain, nothing, as the poor guy was just coming out of the bathroom, and did not hear what was said. Actually the lady claimed she did not say anything to Emma, she just took off running. Since the said woman is an ex, Brandon had no clue what had sent her running. Ensued the no answer phone calls and texts. Poor guy.
I gave it three stars because it is a bundle and the two books combined is just average read.

You will love these books! In the first book we meet Emma, who is coming out of a long term relationship. She goes to Mexico on spring break where she literally meets the man of her dreams, Brandon. Emma thinks she will never see him again, but months later he ends up being her boss. Brandon's life is complicated and his ex tries to tear them apart. She too has secrets in her past. You will love how their story comes together. I loved these books and became an instant fan of Jessica Wood?

The Emma's story series, A Night to Forget (Book 1) and The Day to Remember (Book 2) was the first set of books that I read by Jessica Wood. I fell in love with both books and I couldn't put the books down once I started reading. These books were amazing to read and I fell in love with the characters as it made me become really involved and emotionally connected. I can't wait to read the next book Damian and Taming Damian. Happy reading and enjoy.

These books were ok. I don't feel like the depth of the characters was built very well, but I can't put my finger on exactly why.

These stories were good but not great. From the beginning, finding her dream guy in Cancun, it was just a bit too good to be true. I liked the pregnancy twist and the characters had good chemistry.
