Soldiers of Sin #2

That Girl Is Trouble

Rate this book
Trouble has a bad habit of following me.

Or maybe it’s the other way around.

I’ve always loved living a little on the side of reckless. Bad things, dangerous things, forbidden things. That’s the sh*t that gets my heart beating, that reminds me I’m still here, that I’m still alive.

Axe Donovan is the epitome of that. A storm of violence, of wildness and freedom, of reckless abandon. One look from the harsh-eyed president of the Soldiers of Sin MC, and my pulse goes into overdrive. He’s everything I can’t help but step into. The thrill I need to chase. The rush that sets my everything on fire.

I’m not supposed to want him, and being almost fifteen years older than me, I don’t think he’s supposed to want me either.
But I’ve never been all that good at backing down from something I want, and I think the Sinner president is about ready to admit what I know he’s been feeling since the day I walked through his door.

I just hope when this is all over, I manage to come out the other side in one piece.

Note to Readers : This is an adult romance and includes graphic, descriptive sex, strong language, and scenes of violence, which may be offensive to some readers. A full list of Trigger Warnings is available on my website, at

Kelsey Elizabeth Wood a newly published independent Canadian author who writes steamy romance novels with smokin’ hot, dirty-talking book boyfriends and feisty female leads.

As a native to Northern Ontario, she’s snowed in six to eight months a year, and during these cold, treacherous times, you can usually find her sequestered in her office or at her kitchen table, coffee in hand, where she writes profusely about magic, post-apocalyptic wastelands, bad ass bikers with hearts of gold, and men in all shades of morally grey.

She lives with her husband and her two small parrots, who enjoy screaming profusely any time she sits down to write (her birds, not her husband), and when she’s not writing, you’ll typically find her lost in a book, or binge watching some mid-2000s procedural crime drama with an enemies-to-lovers subplot.

Oh my Gawwwwwd! This book is fire!
I normally don’t choose bikers books to read because I think it’s the same old story… but this one and the characters are really great.
It’s worth the reading 🙌🏻

Just wow!

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: forbidden, age gap
Angst: 😱😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

What an emotional rollercoaster ride with all the angst! Very forbidden as the FMC was only 17 when she starts to pursue him (he's 30). The story is told going back and forth from the time she is 17 until she is 21. He's constantly fighting his attraction for her, but just manages to give her whiplash. Definitely a more dark and gritty series - you'll definitely want to heed the trigger warnings. Great storyline that paces well with plenty of action. The chemistry between the two of them was super hot. He's completely obsessed with her and there's nothing he can do about it, lol. Highly recommend this series, but you're definitely going to want to read them in order.

This book was very disappointing. The first book in the series was a solid 5+ stars. I loved it. Th problem with this book was the h, Kitty. She was 16 or 17 when she first appears in the story. She is not one of those teens who are mature for her age. She is quite immature- only thinks of herself and never caring about the consequences of her actions. This is still true when she is 19 - Even when it results in the H getting beat up at least twice because of her poor decision making. She never has empathy for her sister or her first boyfriend or the H. Example, Although she lived with the first guy and professed to love him, she didn’t know he was horribly abused growing up. She never acknowledged that lying to her sister and BIL, and having other club members keep her secrets she was causing strain within the club as well as the deep friendship between Axe and Gray.

By the end of the book, she had not redeemed herself and as the reader I didn’t see any growth or maturity that would make me like her. Everything was still about her, even her first bf’s murder. She thought he died protecting her sister, because he loved her. Never entered her mind that he died because of his loyalty and love for the club.

I do like this author’s writing and the MC she has created. There are good characters whose stories I want to read I look forward to her next book.

That Girl is Trouble was another enjoyable book from this author and it's Kat's story. While Kat is no longer the rebellious teenager living with the Sons of Sinners MC, she's still wild and always looking for a thrill which she finds as a stripper. I really enjoyed the older version of Kat. She's still young enough to make mistakes but she doesn't let anything get her down. I loved when the guys find her working at the club, especially the MC President Axe. Kat and Axe are smoking hot together and make an awesome couple. I loved their journey as a couple and overall loved this book from beginning to end.

This book contains several pet peeves of mine
- grief
- spanking, punishment
- time jumps
- age gaps
So I was surprised I loved it so much. Full disclosure: I skimmed the funeral scene and most of the spanking scenes, so that took care of that for me. The time jumps are pretty well done. I rarely confused the different timelines and the way the past keeps adding to our understanding of the present was well handled. The age gap somehow didn’t bother me. Kat was mature enough and Axe was never creepy.
Two tiny complaints that I have: Kat could’ve made Axes work for it a little harder in the end and that whole story with Rossi was a bit predictable.
Other than that I was so happy with this book, it made me smile, it made me cry. Absolutely recommend.

Plot: 3/5
Spice: 1.5/5

Have I been putting off writing this review? Yes. I really, really have been. Why? Because this is a bit of a rage review and I don’t love posting these sometimes. But it is what it is, and I will always be honest with my reviews and thoughts soooo… I’m just gunna rip the bandaid off…

I fucking HATED the FMC in this book. Like, this bitch needs to punched in the vag and given a fucking lobotomy.

Were there parts of this book that I liked? Yes, there absolutely were - I still gave it 3 stars you guys! But then this bitch would do something stupid again and just fuckin’ ruin everything good that was happening lol. There’s being a brat and there’s being a manipulative cunt and this child (because let’s be honest, she IS a fucking child), is the latter of the two. She is so fucking stunned and immature that she completely ruined this for me. The sheer number of times that she tries to manipulate our MMC into fucking around with her is alarming. And it’s not even about the fact that she’s underage, even though that’s fuckin weird and totally unnecessary too, it’s about how she literally has no respect for anyone, let alone the guy that she’s apparently in love with and trying to seduce. Now mind you, he is a total fucking gentleman and literally says no at every turn and this bitch STILL doesn’t leave him alone. If a guy pulled the same shit that this chick did, he’d be thrown away for attempted sexual assault and the internet would be in a fucking uproar - but when a 17 year old girl does it, it’s fine? Double standard much? I fucking hate it here. This is absolutely fucking ridiculous. I could literally just vent about this stupid shit and this stupid bitch forever so I’m gunna stop while I’m ahead lol. And that was actually me being nice because I could get real fuckin’ unhinged about this lol.

The rest of the book was decent. I love the world she’s building and I love literally all of the other characters. Basically take my review for the first one and paste it in here. Same thing with the writing, both good and negative. Same thing with the ick words and the continuity errors and the weird repetition of stuff but again, that was all super minor. Only difference was the repetition in this one was spanking instead of stabbing lol. Honestly, same everything except for my thoughts on the FMC.

Will I continue the series? Absolutely. Hopefully the FMC from this one will mature a little before the next book lol.

I just couldn’t stand the main bitch aka Miss Kitty Kat. She’s so dumb and doesn’t have a personality. She walks around as if the world owes her something. I don’t know what Axe sees in her. I want his sort of patience when it comes to bratty, dramatic, selfish, intolerable and annoying people like her.

It’s a shame because I really loved the first book jack and triss won my heart and I thoroughly enjoyed their story. I wanted to like this one too. I should’ve seen this coming because I didn’t even like her in the first book to begin with.

Okayyyyy i am LOVING this writing. I love a forbidden age gap book and when I started feeling like these two may end up together in book 1 I was so excited! This series will definitely be one i recommend if you’re wanting to try MC romance books.

I fully thought this book would be my favorite over book 1 and I enjoyed it but book 1 still holds the spot as my favorite!

This was a dual timeline hurts so good, the angst in the flashback chapters was top tier but the dual timeline when on for just a little too long for me.

These two had explosive chemistry and I just could have read 100 more pages of the two of them together! They deserved their happy ending so bad and I hope we get to see more of them in the coming books.

Axe did 2 things in this book that didn’t seem consistent with his obsession with the FMC (trying to keep the element of surprise with her name if you haven’t read book 1) So I’m kind of hung up on those two things lol 😆 but it was a really good read and I can’t wait for more from this author!!

Men like Axe don’t do dating. They do this. They make your heart start and stop over and over again. They make your head dizzy and your skin hot. They set your everything on fire. I may not understand exactly what this is, but I know one thing. Axel Donovan fucking owns me. The question is how long he’ll keep me this time.

I was absolutely waiting for this book and so excited to read it after that epilogue in “Bad Bad Man” from Kat and Donovan’s wedding day. And of course it has my favorite trope ✨age-gap✨.

This book started off with Kat’s life and then it went back in time to events that we originally saw from Triss viewpoint. In the first book, I honestly saw Kat as childish and I guess it was mostly due to how her older sister saw her. But honestly, she just needed someone who understood her and accepted all her flaws.

The chemistry between Kat and Donovan was “chef’s kiss”. I loved that we got a glimpse of his thoughts in his head, how he is as a leader, and how so understanding he was of his Kitty-cat. They truly deserved each other and brought out the best in each other.

This book is messy, emotional, and frustrating at times—just like its heroine. Kat is the kind of character who tests your patience but also earns your sympathy, and the dual timeline made that experience even stronger. Seeing her both as a reckless teenager and as a woman trying to find her place gave me a complicated but compelling perspective on her choices.

Part of me wanted to hate Kat because of how immature and selfish she acted, but once you understand what she had been through, it was hard not to sympathize with her. Her teenage years were especially difficult to read—she pushed Axel relentlessly, and I didn’t blame him for finally cutting things off. On top of that, she constantly sought thrills in ways that put others in danger just to satisfy her own need for excitement. I got tired of hearing her say “I don’t like the quiet” every other chapter, because it always tied back to her craving for chaos.

Her treatment of Triss only added to my frustration. Triss had dropped everything in law school to take care of her after their mother overdosed, and Kat repaid her by running off with a biker and acting moody and ungrateful. Even now, she’s lying about being in college (because it was “too quiet”), keeping secrets, and making reckless choices that put everyone else in the crossfire. She doesn’t consider how much that betrayal would weigh on Triss, how her behavior wedges Axel and Graves apart, or how her involvement with De Rossi puts herself and others at risk.

And yet… I still felt for her. She lost her mom to an overdose, her first love to murder, and spent most of her life without stability. She’s very much a product of her environment, and while her actions were selfish, they weren’t without reason. Axel’s rejection didn’t help—he told her they had nothing because he thought pushing her away would protect her, but really, it just left her even more desperate for something (or someone) to hold on to.

By the end, Kat hadn’t completely won me over, but she did show growth. She finally recognized that her recklessness put Axel in danger, since he would always come for her. She showed her true colors when he took the fall and went to prison though. She didn’t waver once—waiting eighteen months without question until the moment he got out. Seeing them together afterward, stronger and more solid, was rewarding. Kat was never going to find happiness in a quiet, normal relationship; she needed someone like Axel.

I have to give this author so much credit. These books are incredibly well written—you’d never know they were debuts. I was especially excited to see that the third book was supposed to be about Decker (and I’m crossing my fingers Tex gets one, too). Unfortunately, it looks like the series might not continue since this book came out 2 years ago and her socials haven’t been updated in months. Either way, I’m still glad I picked these up and I'll keep hey fingers crossed that Kelsey will reappear and add to this series at some point!

I didn’t see this one coming tbh. Warning if you are not into huge age gap and a too young of a fmc this might not be the one for you.
In the first book I didn’t really like Kat. I felt that she too bratty and too much headache. Since I am an eldest daughter I felt for Triss. But the author did such an amazing job turning the tables and showing us the layers that went beyond just the bratty exterior. The two characters had extremely fiery chemistry. Axe is fucking insane and hot so that some madness and badness right there. It just felt so right the banter was insanely funny. I genuinely felt interested to read everyone’s story. Especially Preacher, I need him biblically.
Did I mention that the smut was excruciating? God help us😫

This series is so good! Highly recommend if you enjoy MC romance!

I really enjoyed this book & both main characters. Not going to use names in case you haven’t read but the FMC was no nonsense and did what she wanted when she wanted which I love. The MMC was a hard a$$ who only went soft for her which I eat up. The writing, found family & plot line of this one was enjoyable. There were a few things that weren’t my favorite but these are all personal preferences and nothing against the book or writing style.

The dual timelines in this one were necessary and I did enjoy the flashback chapters- I just would have loved to get a bit more of our couple together.

A very solid MC romance & I cannot wait for more from the world.

☆2 DNF 46% Book 1 was so good tho. 😟

Hang on, did he really just tell her to go back to work…as a stripper…after saying how much he hates her being a stripper? How would stripping in a loud club possibly make Kat magically feel ok with silence? Makes no sense. And how would Graves not have figured out what’s going on with his BFF always sneaking off to The Garden? I don’t get these 2 at all, and for an MC Prez, Axe is kinda meh. Not scary enough. Bye kids, hope you figure out your shit, I guess.

WOW!!

What a great MC age gap romance with amazing characters! Axe is the Prez of the Soldiers of Sin MC and Kat is that girl that lives for trouble. You can’t get any better match than that if you like your books extra steamy with a great storyline. And just wait for that ending!! A total page turner that I highly recommend.

I was so excited to read Kat and Axe's story after the first installment of this series! I have no triggers whatsoever and I love a good age gap romance!!

This book follows Kat, the bratty little sister that we all loved to hate in the first book. She is now older, but still making bad decisions for herself. Then comes Axe and all their baggage.

I was lucky enough to be a BETA reader for this book, and Although I didn't read the final version with all the edits, here is my honest review:

I was really impressed with the way the author wrote the book. The past/present POV made me think of the first book in the Bargainer series by Laura Thalassa, and well... being compared to her is a big compliment.

I thought both POVs were really well done. You could sense what the other character was feeling even though it was not their POV. The pace of the story was also really good, just the great balance between action and character development. The spice level was off the chart. 🥵🥵 And that Ending.... I went through all kinds of emotions and to repeat the exact words I wrote back to the author after reading it: "That ending just killed all of my brain cells. Nevermind what I thought during, that book is perfect. Ok? Ok."

That Girl is Trouble....... Yes, yes she is!!
After reading 'Bad Bad Man' and seeing snippets of Kat and Donovan's story in the background I couldn't wait for this age gap MC romance story.
And...
What a ride it was!
Honestly, I wasn't sold on Kat in Book 1 but now after getting her story, not only do I like her character, but I also think she is an absolute badass. I mean the girl can easily find herself in trouble but she also has the fight to try and get herself out.
But.....
In most occasions she didn't need to fight because protective AF Donovan was always right there and giving off all of the touch her and die vibes (or maybe just a few broken bones).

Donovan tried hard to fight the temptation and his attraction for 'Kitty' Kat mainly because of the almost 15 year age gap but.... Honestly, he never stood a chance.

Together these two were FIRE!!
The push, the pull, the lust, the tension and the way Donovan understood Kat and knew what she needed.
Like....
"Hand or Belt?" Yep!!!! slap slap slap....

I loved that we got both past and present POV's from them both and saw the relationship turmoil and growth.
Age be damned as these two really are perfect for each other.
Their journey had it all. It was steamy, swoon-worthy, sometimes humorous, a little angsty and riddled with some suspense and action.
Good Lord... poor Preacher hahaha....
I enjoyed this read and with so many more interesting characters I can't wait for more Soldiers of Sin.

This book is EVERYTHING you want in an MC romance. Axe, the president of the Soldiers of Sin, has it bad for the 17 year old practically adopted little sister (Kat) of his best friend and VP Graves. You can read about Graves and Triss in the first book for the series. Such a hot story with a 13 year age gap and lots of spicy kink.

Axe knows that he shouldn’t want Kat, and should stay away from her. Kat knows it’s a bad idea, for many reasons, but she can’t just help pushing and pushing the limits with Axe. I loved the character of Kat. She’s an old, rebellious soul and she pulls off being a brat without being annoying and dumb. She’s young, but she isn’t written to feel young next to Axe and that’s because of her childhood. She’s also a stripper and I love that. So, if you like dancing and pushing a guy past his limits (on repeat) this is such the book for you.

Axe pushes her away a bunch, and one of the times it made me cry. He was trying to do the right thing, but god my heart. This is one of the BEST books I’ve ever read with the sppankking kink. Omg perfect and so damn hot…and so many scenes. The spice is just burning hot, and it’s clear Kat and Ace have a bit of BDSM dynamic going on…and she’s definitely a brat if you get my hint. The story has action and tons of angst, and just a great love story. I hated it when it ended but I’m looking forward to more in the series so I can see more of Graves/Triss and Kat/Axe.

That Girl Is Trouble is Kats book. She's Triss's sister from Book 1. It's not really necessary to read Bad, Bad Man first but I would highly recommend it. You don't want to miss anything with this series. After 2 years of grieving Jesse, Kat is still looking for chaos to quiet the noise in her head. Her book is aptly titled because this girl is definitely
T-R-O-U-B-L-E!

"I crave the touch of men like Jesse and Axe— men who are wrong for me, who are too old. Who do bad things but who look so goddamn good in leather. Men who make me feel. Men who live loud."

Axel "Axe" Donovan is the President of the Soldiers Of Sin MC and it's him that's seeking that trouble. Their story is an excellent, forbidden love, age gap story that is so freakin HOT and intense it could blow the doors off of an incinerator. The effort Axe puts into denying he has a thing for Kat is exhausting and exhilarating at the same time. This story is full of chaos and excitement, surprises and danger and so much love. These characters, you just can't help but fall in love with them and I hope we get more of Axe and Kat in the stories to come.

"Chasing the thrill. It’s what gets her heart beating, what reminds her she’s still alive."

Not sure how the first book was a 5 star read and this book was a solid 2 but here we are folks.

Axel Donovan is a 5 star MMC. Kat is a profoundly 0 star FMC.

Let’s start with, I’m all for age gaps - but come on, make it legal. Axel came across super pervey when Kat was 16/17. Idk if romance authors ever stop to really acknowledge how ACTUALLY young that is?

Then we had, her previous relationship with Jessie. Now THAT could have been a story for the ages. Their love was so young and so strong in the first book, not sure why the author decided to shit all over that relationship and have it be so meaningless. The only emotion Kat felt towards Jessie was guilt…which was strange.

We then have Kat’s overall dumbass, reckless, immature, bratty character. There’s literally nothing endearing about this chick. She’s just annoying.

We then had the steam, which would have been great if my brain didn’t keep yelling she was underage. Age of consent my ass.

Not sure how I powered through or why I finished this crap but I did, and if I got get a refund on my time, I would request it.

This book left such a bad taste in my mouth idk if I’ll ever read another book from this author again tbh, despite giving the first book a 5 star.

Genre/Trope: Biker/MC Romance
Book Type: Standalone, but connected to a series.
Book Length: Novel
POV: Alternating Dual
Setting: Canada
Male MC: Axel Donovan is the President of the Soldiers of Sin MC. He served 4 years in prison and lives life fast, hard and on his terms. Axe is 31-34 in this story. He has dark hair and dark eyes.
Female MC: Kat Danforth is the wild and bratty younger sister of Triss (from Bad Bad Man). She was 16 when she entered the Soldiers of Sin MC life via her deceased boyfriend, Jesse. Kat is now 19 and is working as a stripper. She has dark hair and eyes.
Endearment: Kitty
Spice Level: Medium
Frequency of Spice: Low
Angst Level: Medium
Cliffhanger: No
My Review: I really enjoyed this book and the chemistry between Axe and Kat is amazing. I loved their journey together, however, I do wish it had a bit more spice and more time spent in the current timeline instead of so many flashbacks. I wanted to immerse myself with Axe and Kat together once they really began their relationship, but it was kind of shortened and I really felt that was lacking in their story. I can’t wait to read more from the author though and hopefully we get more of the MC bros in the future.

I have a rule. I don't read the next book in the series right after. This book was an exception to the rule. That's because I was in a reading fury from Book #1 and just couldn't hold myself back.

Personally, I thought this was hotter than Book #1 (if that was even possible). I mean, you already had me at - bike club, age gap, taboo - then you have a stripper FMC & ex-convict MMC. The reasons to read don't stop, won't stop....

Kat & Axe. Two tortured souls who keep gravitating towards each other, even though they're not supposed to do that (she is 16, he is in his 30s when they first meet). Still, the heart wants what it wants and even if he pushes her away, they're still drawn back to each other and I am here for every freakin' step of that sexy sexy way.

Story is good, the characters are magnetic, not just in a hot away, but in a "I want to hear more about these guys ...." way. Ladies & gentlemen, please watch this space for more Sinner Book Spawn. Really well written & Goldilocks spice (not too hot, not too cold, just right). Recommend to infinity.
