We meet Jesse and Celine nine years on in Greece. Almost two decades have passed since their first meeting on that train bound for Vienna. They reminisce about their lives together and what different choices might have brought.
For the last eighteen years I have loved the film Before Sunrise. Shortly after seeing it I found a copy of the screenplay and it became another favourite. That edition of the book is no longer available but you can still see it in a two-volume set with its sequel Before Sunset.
When I watched the film of the third in the series earlier this year I found myself loving almost every other line and felt a need to read the script. After periodically searching online I found this version to download. And I love it all over again.
I'm still a bit confused about the ending.. did Jesse go for his son? or stay with Celine? but I enjoy how the story slowly leads to conflict. Their struggles and debates are so realistic, like what married couples, in general, go through. Some of Celine's dialogues are the exactly same thing I said to my ex and I was a little surprised because.. indeed couples will be like this, and will go through this phase.
Jesse & Celine are more mature in this one but they still talk and have things to say to eachother. However, he effect of time on their relationship is sad. It's depressing how a flame cannot be kept alive for long, that interest, that 'thirst'... some people just find a way around that, some people don't. I liked it better when it was a one to one conversation.
