When Ryker Phillips goes undercover to spy on the Idaho pack, the last thing he expects is to fall in love. As the Moonstone Pack’s lead enforcer, he’s supposed to protect the pack from interlopers, not invite one in as his mate.

Ivy Campbell has zero desire to choose any mate at all. As one of the lowest-ranking females in the pack, she’s been mistreated for most of her life. When a new alpha took over, she’d hoped for a change. But she’s right back where she was before, and she’d rather suffer the fate of becoming a lone wolf than allow anyone into her heart.

So when a new wolf shows up, she does everything she can to resist him, despite her attraction to him. And as she grows closer to the newcomer, she must determine where her loyalties truly lie. When she learns he’s keeping a dangerous secret, will she betray him or protect him?

I didn't enjoy this one as much as I did the first one, but I was still into it. I just didn't really like being in the Idaho pack like I enjoy being with the Moonstone pack, but obviously it was important for the story and I did really love the character development in this one. Excited for the next couple ! :)

"Protecting Ryker would mean turning her back on her pack..."

I am going to be honest, I was very disappointed with this book. After reading Steele, the first book in the series, I was really looking forward to Ryker's story. I liked Ryker in the first book and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen with the Idaho pack and their new evil Alpha. While this story had plenty of action, it was all choppy and didn't flow. It often made no sense and there were too many inconsistencies and things that were forgotten or overlooked. Prime example is near the beginning Ivy and Cora try to escape and are immediately caught by their Alpha, Ellerson because supposedly another pack female ratted them out. He tells them there will be severe consequences and they will be punished. Since this pack punishes members with death just for not showing respect I expected trying to escape would have dire consequences. But nothing ever happens to either of them! Nothing. I mean not even a scolding. And we never find who the rat was, either. In fact the entire event is never mentioned again like it never happened. I could give many more examples but won't. Suffice to say, it all made for a confusing and less than satisfying story.

Another problem is that there isn't really much of a love story. Ryker and Icy are fated mates. Great. But there was almost no development of any relationship, not much chemistry, and except for a few kisses, a dance and a couple of steamy scenes at the end there wasn't any romance. Oh, and don't get me started on how a woman who had supposedly been violated for years didn't seem that traumatized by it. She said she was but except for one scene she never acted like she was and she didn't really hesitate all that much when they finally ended up in bed together.

By the end of the book, with its rushed and unrealistic final battle and the superficial arrangement that's decided, I was done. Bronx's story is next and I really hope it takes after book one and not this one. And I'm still looking forward to hopefully getting Nick's story once we finish with the cousins. This series, with all its potential, can still be saved. And maybe Ryker will be nothing more than a minor blip in the road.

Three stars because despite my disappointment and complaints it's not really a bad book, it's just not that good, especially compared to the first book, which makes it a solid average to me.

This is the second book of the Moonstone pack. Ryker Phillips is the cousin to the Alpha of the Moonstone Pack, and a lead enforcer, in Montana. Steele, his Alpha meets with the new Alpha of the neighboring Idaho Pack, Franklin Ellerson, and since the Moonstones need to find out what is truly going on in the other pack, Ryker isn’t at the meeting because he is going undercover to find out the truth. Blake Deacon, the previous Alpha to Ellerson had died after trying to abduct Steele’s mate, a human, Mila Wright. So Ryker goes undercover in the Idaho pack and is interested in its healer, Ivy who he is drawn to and she to him once they meet. Ellerson and the majority of the upper male wolves of the pack, use the unmated women as they want. As well as harming those who are lesser than they are. They are true believers in the strong control all. I chewed my nails the whole time I was reading this book. A lot of the things that happen in the Idaho pack are appalling and horrifying and some brought tears to my eyes. There are triggers in this book for some people.
However, the story, the hope as well as fighting for those you are protecting as is proper in a pack, was just beautiful. There are scenes in this book that made me cry because it was just too beautiful. I am proud of Ryker, Steele, the Moonstone and Ivy.
I can’t wait to find out more about Bronx. I’m so worried about him.

Spoiler question:
However, there is one question I still have- who betrayed Ivy and Cora and told on them? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Part of the Moonstone pack series each can be read as a standalone with an overprotective alpha and his mate. The Moonstone Pack and the Idaho Pack have finally reached a peace treaty between them but Moonstone’s alpha doesn’t trust the alpha he is a little unstable having spent to much time in his wolf and sure he won’t stop coming after his pack’s land so he kept his enforcer/cousin out of the negotiations so he can spy to ensure the Idaho pack alpha is keeping his word. Ryker sexy as all get out cousin of to the Moonstone pack enforcer working as a spy watching the meeting from another room but never expected to see his mate, his wolf isn’t going to just allow him to walk away, so he walks into their Idaho pack territory under an assumed identity to ensure her safety and protect his pack. Ivy is a healer who has been hurt before she doesn’t trust easily in fact, she keeps her head down tries to make herself small anytime she is around the alpha or his beta, and when the new wolf arrives, she can’t seem to help herself she is drawn to him staying away isn’t an option. But being together could get them killed but will he tell her who he really is, will he get them out of there alive, will he figure out what the Idaho alpha is up to while keeping his mate safe, will she learn to trust him after learning the truth about him, will she be willing to leave her pack, and can they find happiness…peace?

Title: Ryker
Author: Margo Bond Collins
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Rating: 3.5 stars

Review: I enjoyed this book, although I have to admit that I wanted more at the end. I liked the two MCs, and as this is a Fated Mates shifter story, you can expect the feelings between them to move fast, but it was a little more believable here. THe FMC didn’t just throw herself at him and expect him to solve her problems. She had a past that dictated that males weren’t to be trusted, and she is hesitant. I appreciated that, because I have read others where the FMC is traumatized and yet has no thoughts for what she’s been through previously once the hero arrived. It was nice to see this wasn’t the case here.

I wanted there to be more depth. The ending battle seemed a little anticlimactic for me, and I wanted more explanation of a few of the characters' motivations for some of their choices. In the book’s defense, it is part of a series, and I have only read this one, so perhaps I am missing some info in other books.

Overall, if you are a shifter romance fan, and like the Fated Mates trope, you will enjoy this book. Definitely give it a try. Be sure, however, to pay attention to the trigger warnings.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for allowing me to read this book in advance!

The Moonstone Pack and the Idaho Pack have entered into a reluctant peace treaty, but Moonstone's alpha does not trust the Idaho pack's new alpha any more than he trusted the old one. Ellerson has obviously spent too much of his life in his wolf form and is not going to stop coming after the Monstone pack's land around Yellowstone Park. Steele has kept his head enforcer and cousin, Ryker Phillips, out of the negotiations in order to use him as a spy to suss out what Ellerson plans to do next.

Ryker watches the meeting of the pack alphas from another room and can't believe it when his wolf catches sight of one of the Idaho pack females and let's him know that she is theirs. Now that complicates things. He walks into Idaho pack territory with an assumed identity and the need to protect his pack...and his mate.

Ivy Campbell doesn't trust males, she has been burned too many times. As the Idaho Pack healer she does her best to keep her head down and to stay out of the path of Ellerson and his beta. But when a new wolf comes looking to join the pack, she finds herself aware of him in ways she never expected. Soon they are playing a dangerous game that just might get them both killed.

I enjoyed the second book in this series and the glimpse we get of book three is intriguing. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I have mixed feelings about this book. The premise was exciting, but the experience was just average. The book was an entertaining and quick read, but it just didn’t wow or excite me.

The storyline is pretty dark and gritty as most of the focus is on happenings within the Idaho Pack. Ryker goes undercover as Liam to spy on the Idaho Pack to try to determine what the power-crazed alpha’s plan is since the Moonstone Pack doesn’t trust him. The Idaho Pack is cruel and mistreats its members horribly.

Ryker is supposed to fit in with this cruel and vicious bunch, but he isn’t able to hide his compassion and fairness. His spy mission is further complicated by discovering his fated mate is a member of the Idaho Pack.

Ivy has been mistreated most of her life and she just wants to get away from her cruel pack. She doesn’t trust men, especially strangers like Liam.

The fated mate connection came across as a physical and not much more. The storyline really didn’t allow for much focus or development on their bond. It’s a fairly short read and so much of the focus is on the issues within the Idaho pack.

Ryker and Ivy’s Story . . .

Wolf shifter Ryker Phillips is the enforcer for the Moonstone Pack. His Alpha sends him undercover to the Idaho Pack to find out what their new Alpha Ellerson is up to. He is not pleased with what he finds. Ivy Campbell, one of the pack members who has been constantly mistreated by the Alpha, is attracted to “Liam” which is the name Ryker is using. She suspects he could be her mate but she has plans to escape as soon as she can so she keeps trying not to get involved with a pack member.

But when the Alpha is ready to kill a wolf he thinks has betrayed him by collaborating with the Moonstone Pack, Ryker won’t stand back and let it happen. But the Alpha ignored him. Ryker could not take on the entire pack, and he had to get Ivy out of there. She pulled him back as the Alpha killed Gary Bonham without hesitation. Unfortunately, Ryker’s true identity was discovered by Stefan, the second-in-command, who had questioned a child from the Moonstone Pack. Will Ryker be able to save Ivy and himself? Will she agree to leave the pack with him? Or will she be too afraid to risk angering her vicious Alpha if he catches her?

Ryker Phillips, the Moonstone pack enforcer, is sent under cover to the Idaho pack in order to find mistreatment and corrupt plans. He meets Ivy Campbell, a girl who has been mistreated by her pack her entire life. Her desire to run away but constant eyes prevent her from exceeding. Ivy fights the mate bond with Ryker out of trauma but is determined to help her pack out of her current leader and his overwhelming need for control. Both fights to save the pack and keep the current safety with all the packs.

“Ryker by Margo Bond Collins was okay, but I had I a few dislikes with it. One of those was Ryker needed to infiltrate the pack by fitting in, which means he needed to pretend to be as cruel as the rest but he kept showing a merciful and compassionate side to the pack leader which made him a very bad spy. Another was that the fighting and ending was anticlimactic and repetitive. It was still entertaining and an easy read and worth the time invested in the mated bond between Ivy and Ryker. 3 out of 5 stars.

Outstanding!

With a new Alpha in charge of the Idaho Pack, a supposed peace treaty has been reached. But the Moonstone Pack Alpha doesn’t trust the new Alpha so he sends Ryker in under cover to find out what is really going on.

Ryker is happy to do whatever his Alpha needs, but he is especially concerned because he thinks his mate is one of the Idaho Pack and fears her life may be in danger. What he finds is worse than anything they imagined.

Ivy Campbell has always been a low ranking pack member, but since the new Alpha took over, her life has become even more miserable. When she meets Liam (Ryker), she is drawn to him and she suspects he is her mate, but she will never get away from the pack if she mates one of its members. So she fights her attraction and tries to keep her distance. But when things come to a head in the pack, they must depend on each other to escape with their lives!

Great addition to the series!.

This book wasn’t as good as Steel but I did enjoy it anyway. Ryker is the lead enforcer of the Moonstone Pack and his cousin and Alpha Steel doesn’t trust the new Alpha of the Idaho Pack Franklin Ellerson who treats his members cruelly and so he has sent in Ryker undercover as Liam to spy on them but never did he think he would find his fated mate as the packs healer. Ivy Campbell is the packs healer and she is one of the lowest members and gets used by the Alpha and his beta and treated badly and has had enough and try’s to leave but doesn’t get far and now there is a new member to the pack Liam who she is instantly drawn to and believes he is her mate but she doesn’t trust any male and try’s to stay away from him but the bond is so strong and when she learns his secret will she betray her pack or will she save her mate Ryker. There is heaps more going on in this book that will keep the reader glued to the pages. Im so looking forward to the next book.

This story causes some strong emotions. The book warns you of some triggers. There is suggested things but not wrote about. This pack is full of evil and Ivy is just trying to survive. Ryker is looking for clues on how to take out the alpha of this pack. Theirs is not a love story like other stories. This is about trust and boundaries. Ivy has major trust issues and Ryker needs to focus on his pack. I liked how this was a slow love and they both had to make the decision to be together or not. This was a good read it kept you turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next. I liked the main characters in the book. They stayed true throughout the story with Ivy becoming more sure of herself as time went on. There are a couple of other characters in the book that I hope get their own stories as well.

This is the second book in the series. It would be beneficial to read the first so you know what the "war" is about. Also read the warning, implied domestic violence, abuse etc.
Riker is a wolf you can rote for. Strong, loyal and dedicated to keeping his pack safe. He also finds something he never thought he would. I love his patience with Ivy. She surprises me with her determination and trust, even though she has been through violence and betrayal most of her life.
Action from the first to last page. The chemistry is there between Ivy and Ryker, even though Ivy is reluctant. I loved how they worked together to make the packs stronger. And how Ryker let Ivy have closure with her pack leader.
The epilogue is a glimpse to the next story. Bronx.
Well done. The flow was good, slow burn to the romance but spicy. Loved the HEA.

This is a new author for me and it was an excellent start. The story is action packed, filled with strong characters along with an intense storyline filled with danger and violence. I enjoyed the story and the fact that Ryker finally found his mate in the most unlikely of places, enemy territory. Having suffered greatly at the hands of her father and the alpha she was sold to, Ivy has a strength that she wasn’t even aware of until Ryker came into the picture. The story has the good side winning but before this comes about there are a lot of tense moments, great danger and a violent encounter. Ryker and Ivy have their HEA and the Epilogue hints at the next story coming. This was an excellent story that I would highly recommend.

This story starts up right where Steele and Mila left off. Steele sent Ryker in to spy on the Idaho pack to see how people were treated and how trust worthy they were. Little did Ryker know that he would find his mate, Ivy. With danger lurking behind every tree and around every corner for Ryker, he wasn't sure if he could even trust his mate.
Ivy has to make a choice; save her pack or save Ryker's life! Can she do both? Can she trust Ryker to help her and her pack or should she turn him in? Ryker is in more danger than he suspected; can he rely on Ivy to help him or will he be found out by the Idaho Alpha? The story starts off a bit slowly at first, and then about 1/2 way through the action takes right off and keeps you glued to the pages to find out what is going to happen next!.

Ryker is part of the Moonstone pack and is listening and watching through video the meeting between his alpha and the new alpha of the pack that attacked them. He notices one female and his inner wolf chants Mine! Ivy is a healer and a low level member of the pack. She is not only wary of but fearful of the new alpha who is more ruthless than the former. Now their lives are about to intersect when Ryker is sent undercover to find out more about the new alpha. When he sees Ivy his wolf again calls her Mate. Now he has more to protect with his assignment. Will they be able to get out of the pack intact? Will danger be more forthcoming for both?
An exciting story about two rival packs and their alphas who differ in temperment.

I liked the sound of Ryker but it didn't work for me at all. It was repetitious and the characters words did not match their actions. There was no connection between the hero and heroine. It was stated that there was a connection between them but there was no actual building of a relationship between them. I can't define their relationship as instalove because it wasn't that either. I get that this was a short book and there's only so much that can be done within the number of pages but I had hoped for more. There was a lot of potential that was never realized. There was just too much telling and not showing which ultimately made this a dud for me.

As lead enforcer for his pack and cousin to the Alpha, he has been tasked with going behind enemy lines to find out what their plans are. He never thought he would find his fated mate amoung the abused females of the rival pack, and now that he has found her he is torn between duty to pack or her. All Ivy has known is cruelty and fear with her father and then with the Idaho pack after her father sold her, but she sees something in the stranger that has asked to join the pack, perhaps a light at the end of a tunnel.

As things escalate can Ryker save his mate and pack or fail in his duty. Exciting, intense with a slow sudection of the one meant for him. I can't wait for more of the moonstone pack.

The Moonstone pack signs a treaty with the new Alpha of the Idaho pack but don’t entirely trust that the terms will be abided by, and there are stories of abuse of power coming through as well. Ryker, cousin of the Alpha & enforcer for the Moonstone pack gets sent undercover to see if Idaho truly is a reformed pack. What he finds is appalling, the new Alpha is a cruel man who treats his pack, especially the women, abysmally. When Ryker realises that one of the lower ranking Idaho females, Ivy, is his fated but can he trust her? Also, will the feeling of being used and lied to overshadow Ivy’s feelings for Ryker.

Ryker is the enforcer for the Moonstone Pack and is sent by the Alpha to infiltrate the Idaho Pack. Steel doesn't trust Franklin the new Alpha for the Idaho Pack so Ryker is sent as Liam to spy on them. Ivy is the pack healer and when she meets Liam/Ryker she instantly knows he's her mate. Things take a dangerous turn with the Idaho pack and when Ivy finds out who Liam/Ryker is she's torn between her pack and her fated mate. Will she turn on him or will they leave the Idaho pack together? This is book two in The Moonstone Pack series and there is a lot going on in this book. Loved this book! In this novel, Ryker, the Moonstone Pack enforcer is tasked with going undercover in the Idaho Pack to learn their secrets and determine their risk to his pack. However, he is quickly torn between his duty to his pack and to his future mate....especially once he learns that the Idaho Pack is even more dangerous than he thought.

If you enjoy a sexy shifter romance, you will love this book. The author has created a world and characters that made me feel a part of their story. I was invested in the characters and wanted them to get a HEA ending. While this is part of a series, this is a stand alone novel. However, it's so good that you really owe it to yourself to read the first book, Steele, as well. Put this one at the top of your TBR list.

Ryker is a very good wolf shifter enforcer entrusted by his alpha to spy on a nearby pack. Along the way, he finds his mate who has been mistreated and barely manages to escape the pack with the help of his mate. The book is good, although if you have been beat nearly to death and run all night long to escape, I don't see how you have the energy to have some intimate time right afterwards when you are safe which is why I only gave it 4 stars. Other than that, this book kept me rivited to the story. I would recommend it.

Ryker is an enforcer of his pack the Moonstone and goes undercover to the Idaho Pack. Ivy is from the Idaho pack. She and many others are terrorized by their evil alpha. When Ryker first meets Ivy, he knows immediately she's his fated mate. Now more than ever, he must find out what the alpha of the Idaho pack plan to protect his mate and his pack. Action packed, steamy, fated mate, love story. Ryker is cunning and strong , keeping his mate safe but also allowing her to choose what she wants to do rather than being overbearingly bossy. Ivy is stronger than she knew, caring, and willing to help her mate.

There seems to be an uneasy peace between their two Packs (Moonstone and Idaho Packs), but the Moonstone Pack suspect that the alpha of the other pack (Franklin Ellerson) is plotting something. To gain information Ryker is sent undercover, and Ivy gains his attention. Can he keep focused on his mission or will Ivy be too much of a distraction? I enjoyed Ivy and Ryker's story, the strength/spirit they both have to face what they need to, the passion between them, but I don't like the evil that lurks in the Idaho pack.

This story is about Ryker a member of the Moonstone pack and Ivy a member of the Idaho pack. Ivy a healer was attending a meeting between the alphas in negotiating a treaty when Ryker scents his mate Ivy the lowest female in the Idaho pack. Ivy was looking forward to the new change until she discovers her alpha is just as cruel as her last. Ryker was sent to spy on the Idaho pack after hearing rumors of cruelty. As their relationship blooms, Ryker and Ivy find they must decide where their loyalties lie in their new relationship. What will they decide to do? This was an enjoyable, dramatic, romantic shifter story with likable characters in this copy I'd received and volunteer to review.

Liked the story and the characters Ryker and Icy. Love the fated mates scenario, and shifter stories are entertaining reads for me. There’s some interesting action and a bit of danger too, which makes for a fun read. This book deals with some triggering things. Ivy’s pack Alpha is horrible; he’s abusive, sexually and otherwise, to the females of the pack. Ryker has been sent as a spy to check things out in Ivy’s pack. He finds his fated mate in Ivy, but there’s plenty standing in their way to happiness. Wish this story had a bit more depth, but for a short read, I did like it and have enjoyed this series so far. Looking forward to the next one.

Ryker is book 2 in the Moonstone Pack series. It's the story of Ryker, Moonstone's lead enforcer, who goes to the evil Idaho pack to spy as Liam. He does find his fated mate, Ivy. Ivy is a healer and low ranking member of the pack who has been treated poorly her entire life. She does not trust men.

I have to admit I was not feeling this book. I loved Steele, but this book seemed rushed and inconsistent. I loved Ryker in the first book, so I was excited to see his story, but I just didn't feel the chemistry in this one. I give it 3.5☆.

Complicated and intense. I loved reading Ivy and Tyler's story, because of the nuances of their attraction and the danger of the situation they were trying go navigate in their separate ways I the beginning, before they could feel how attracted they were to each other and that a mate bond was forming, but will their patch alpha allow them to be together? Tyler also knows that
the Moonstone pack expects them to behave or there will be trouble. So much action, intrigue and adventure. That I couldn't put it down. Bravo!.

I received an advanced reader's copy of Ryker by Margo Bond Collins from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Margo Bond Collins is a new-to-me author, but the summary was interesting and I am glad that I had the opportunity to read Ryker.

The premise was intriguing; there is action, world building, intrigue, and romance. The pacing of this novel could be smoothed out a little, but the writing is solid and plot is engrossing. Looking forward to the next novel in this series by Margo Bond Collins.

I liked the multidimensional concerns that the characters had in this book. The themes of friendship, love, loyalty and betrayal are all on display in this novel. I also liked that it wasn’t overly cheesy like some werewolf shifter books can be. It felt very natural and had a good flow. Sometimes in the book, I wish I had a little bit more detail about some of the side characters and their relationships with each other in the pack. The book really developed 3-5 characters, but left some of the nuance out of the robustness of the community.
