Hundreds of years after the death of earth the Nations have built a thriving community of the lucky refugees who escaped the desolate planet on multiple space stations orbiting the atmosphere. The Global Air Defense has now finally achieved the ability for interstellar space travel, completing a space ship to travel the stars and find a new planet for the remaining human population.

To make their plan work, the GAD must trust an ally they've only ever treated as a second-class citizen: those left to fight to survive on earth.

Louise Wyndham, contact for the black market smuggling ring of Puget City, becomes the first planet-bound trainee enlisted in the GAD, rising quickly to graduate as the first planet-bound officer. But nothing can prepare her for the struggles of coming face to face with the ship-born their generations of preconceived opinions and prejudices about the planet-bound.

When the ship Hickory finds a planet that meets all of the criteria, Louise finds herself in a new fight; more than just a fight against her surroundings, more than just a fight to prove that she's capable―no matter where she came from. . . this is a fight for survival. Will the rest of the crew set aside their feelings? Or will they lead themselves, and humanity, into destruction?

I really enjoyed this story and the premise behind it. I would have enjoyed it even more if it were a bit longer with more character development and further background. I felt as though the reader is left with a lot of unanswered questions and a rather abrupt ending. I'm not sure if there will be further books but it would be nice to find out more about the Captain's background in relation to the protagonist, the aliens (are there more? where did they come from, etc...), the planet, the incorporation of other planet bound people into missions, etc... One thing that I felt was off was the portrayal of the military aspects. It seemed very lax in some cases with plenty of insubordination, fraternization, and slack protocols that you wouldn't expect in this type of situation. One would expect that most military personnel would know how to operate at least a simple weapon and have had some basic combat training regardless of their position.

This book was very engaging, an easy read and had lots of character development for the main character. I really enjoyed the fact the the main character was legitimately flawed, and that there were very few spelling and grammar errors. The storyline was well plotted, and doesn't drag at all.

However, in the future endevours of Ms. Dinsmore, I'd like to see more relationship development between the characters, since this book feels a little chopped and is rather short in length. I'd also like to see more character development with the other characters, good and bad. The antagonist in this story is just a one dimensional douche bag, and the story would benefit more with some fleshing out of this character, as well as others. With so many characters, it can, at times, get muddled with which character is which.

I saw this book when I was looking at the giveaways, it look interesting so I put it on my to read list and went back and entered the contest, and was one of the winners.

The book was a bit different than I expected but in a refreshing way.

The flaws of the characters (and I mean this as reference to personal traits of characters) are not softened or smoothed over so the points of view were for me more realistic. The characters are not "perfect" they don't just learn and move on and put things behind them.

The story kept me involved and I finished book in an afternoon

I enjoyed reading this and am very much looking forward to the next book to see how both the character the story line and the author progress and grow

I was given a copy of "Planet Bound" by the author, A. Marie Dinsmore, in exchange for an honest review. I liked the book. I would have liked the story better if the characters were a little more rounded. Also we are introduced to so many that have little or no part to play other than showing that they feel rejected, which is a common theme in this book. Potential for a good story. The storyline itself is interesting. Human kind is on a quest to find habitable planets. Tough female lead. I liked it. I give it three stars. High School age and up. Some language.

I too, was given a copy of "Planet Bound" by the author, A. Marie Dinsmore, in exchange for an honest review. As a short story it was quick to get into the plot but could use more character development. The storyline is well researched and convincing. I give it four stars and hope that Ms. Dinsmore will consider expanding this into a series.
