”Lessons” starts with Batman in jail talking to a Professor Svenson who is there for a crime he didn’t commit. This is taking place in his cell in the middle of the night. Apparently Sven sent Batman a message.

Some hulking guards come in and Batman fights them.

Leaving the jail Batman asks Batgirl what she knows about Svenson. He was a university professor of Law and then put on trial for murdering Mob Boss Billy Chang. An eyewitness gave rock-solid evidence.

They talk to Commissioner Gordon.

”Your boy did it. ”

They go to talk to Danner, the eyewitness. The break into his mansion. Batman interviews the witness while Batgirl handles the guards.

Danner says another mob boss threatened to kill him if he didn’t say the professor did it.

Case closed as far as Batgirl’s concerned. But Bruce wonders why choose the professor?

Barbara enrolls as a student at the university and talks to another student about Svenson’s criminal law classes.

Kinda wondering why Barbara Gordon didn’t already know about Svenson? Maybe another university?

Apparently Svenson knew everything about the Mafia, was a great teacher and even thinking about running for office.

More investigation (and another fight) lead them back to Danner.

This was really good - well plotted. Some great bits with the fight scenes I won’t spoil. Pretty intricate for a one-and-done. 4 stars. Strong stars though.

At the end of the day after reading thousands of pages of Batman comics my kids favorite is still the Gotham Adventure series that brings to comic book panels the world of the 1990s Batman Animated Series TV show. Which is why I bought issue twenty seven on Amazon kindle and read it with them.
In this issue a popular law professor name Sven Svenson is in jail accused of being a mob boss. Batman and Batgirl looks into whether or not he’s innocent. Batman and Batgirl inquire with James Gordon about the witness against Svenson and Batman and Batgirls goes to his house to ask questions and that leads to other steps such as Batgirl going undercover, break-ins for shipping records and of course fights! Batman and Batgirl does find out the truth though what the answer is to the mystery I won’t give it away here in this review. Fun, clean and adventurous; I wish there was more comics of Batman as a detective!
