“Notes” starts with the Riddler talking to Batman from a screen on the side of a blimp. Riddler spouts a riddle at Batman and flies off.

At the Batcave, Robin asks what he wants.

”What the Riddler always wants: money and fame. But mostly to prove he’s smarter.”

Batman & Robin go to a warehouse on the pier. When Batman goes to the basement it is on fire. Batman escapes this death trap while Robin finds a CD with another riddle.

Back at the Bat-cave, they try to decipher the clue. Nightwing recognizes the music playing. Jack West, lead singer of the Substitutes.

The go to a street concert, but see a big video screen the Riddler has taken over. He has put a brand new song on a CD on top of a large statue.

The crowd rushes to get it. Batman gets it instead. Using the music on the CD they race to the armory in Little Italy.

Nightwing’s musical knowledge is pretty astounding. He’s got Batman-level knowledge. Even Batman’s impressed.

The bust in to find Riddler and his goons. They are borrowing one of Joker’s old hideouts. Filled with giant toys!

As they fight the hoods, who they won’t be able to recognize because they wear masks, Riddler tells them he kidnapped the musician for ransom.

That was a fun Riddler story with a few twists. Riddler stories aren’t easy to pull off. 4 stars
