Thank you very much to Regine Abel for providing a copy of her novel in exchange for an honest review.

Regine Abel’s Blind Fate is a phenomenal expansion into the Veredian Chronicles and a must-read for all Sci-fi Romance fans. The fast-paced novel never lets up for a second with a whirlwind plot, sensual romance and first-rate prose.

Blind Fate follows the story of the elusive Valena, who we briefly met in the first novel in the series, Escaping Fate. Valena is a key member of an international kidnapping ring, assisting the Guldans in assaulting young Xelixian women in order to ‘heal’ the Tainted – but all against her will. Valena is an incredibly intelligent woman who wants nothing more than to escape from her life of slavery, but she is blind. I am so thankful that Abel decided to feature a blind Romance protagonist, because so often the Romance characters tend to be perfect and flawless, which can get a little draining.

Valena uses her considerable wits to achieve her goals and is quite the badass. I also had a lot of empathy for her character, for the life she had been forced into when she so desperately just wants to lead a ‘normal’ life. Valena does not trust easily, due to her past, and has a difficult time letting anyone through to see the real Valena within. Although she desperately wants to escape her circumstances, Valena is trapped by a cruel and crafty master … until she meets Rhul.

Rhul, Valena’s love interest, is one of my favourite characters (well, after Ghan) and one of the ‘villains’ from Escaping Fate. He comes across as a little standoffish and cunning, but through his POVs and Valena’s psi ability, we learn that there is much more to the male than meets the eye. Zhul’s past is fraught with betrayal and disappointment, so he finds it extremely difficult to trust anyone, especially women.

Although you don’t need to read the first novel in the series, Escaping Fate, I would suggest that you do – because it’s so enjoyable, and because the main characters from the first novel appear in this one – but primarily because the you get the chance to experience Zhul’s exceptional character development. In Escaping Fate, Zhul is one of the antagonists and is suspected of having ordered the murder of Khel’s family, one of the love interests in Escaping Fate. Throughout Blind Fate, I couldn’t help but contrast Zhul from the first novel and how much he has changed – or rather, how the reader’s perception of him has changed. We learn much more about Zhul: his past, his desires, his family, and his heart.

Much like Escaping Fate, Abel’s world building just blew me away. From political intrigue, to complex social issues, to well-defined cultures and species, the world of Blind Fate is deeply relatable (despite the inclusion of alien races) and the suspense will keep you on the very edge of your seat. But at its heart, Blind Fate is a love story about two very different people who, for all intents and purposes, believe they are unlovable but who find acceptance and passion with one another.

The plot was fast-paced and made the book impossible to put down. While the novel is primarily a Romance, Abel successfully weaves a complex storyline about international politics and the dire effects of slavery throughout two – and eventually, three – books that captivates the reader and has us completely engrossed within the story and characters. Abel’s writing style is engaging and arresting, which allows the reader to breeze through the book, totally entranced by the story.

Blind Fate is one of the most compelling Romance SFF books I have read in a very long time. Although a standalone, Abel cleverly interweaves multiple storylines and characters across novels, while also allowing the reader to immerse themselves in Rhul and Valena’s story. Don’t miss out on this fantastic book – and while you’re at it, check out Escaping Fate too!

Regine is quickly becoming one of my favourite authors. Another great book, I love the way Regine is able to bring her characters to life and make you feel like you are a part of the story while wishing you could actually be there. The story flows nicely from Escaping Fate and reveals more of the characters I came to love. Excitement, frustration, humour, anger, tears this story has it all and the twist you may not see coming. Give it a read, if you enjoy paranormal romance this is a must for your shelf.

I had the great pleasure of getting to help beta read and edit this fine story. And while I have yet to see the final product I was still thoroughly enchanted and consumed by this second tale in the Veredian Chronicles. Blind Fate, the sequel to Escaping Fate, by Regine Abel, (Voted First Canadian Author), is a sweeping saga of intrigues and alliances, of deceptions and desires, of forgiveness and family. Ms. Abel's story carries you along, alternating points of view, offering surprises and suspense while also building her world, developing her characters and providing her readers with a passionate and very satisfying love story that transcends planetary cultures, races, and misunderstandings. While this is a standalone novel (Abel deftly gets the reader up to speed on the backstory with a no-nonsense Prologue) with a satisfying ending, it does incorporate the characters from the first novel and advances their stories alongside those of the primary protagonists. Ultimately, I believe it is all the more enjoyable if you've read the first in the series. I can't wait to see where the next tale in the saga takes us!

Some awesome and exciting stuff happening here! I am glad to have gotten the pleasure of reading this sequel as an advanced copy. I love the world and how the characters fit into it. Abel is great at making characters that really tug on your heartstrings. I just couldn't put this down until I had finished it. If you loved the first you will assuredly love this one!

The world building in these stories is phenomenal. However, I didn't really enjoy reading this one as much as the first. The heroine is a slave, but she assists men who pay to take the essence from other captive women. She essentially gives these trapped women a mind orgasm so the males can absorb their essence.

Maybe it's because i skipped the first book because i don't enjoy M/F/M romances and so i've missed some feeling or knowledge for this book to make it better but I just didn't love any of the characters or enjoy the book as much as i had hoped i would. I also felt like it was still about the first couple/book a lot of the time which annoyed me for the reason i already mentioned.

Volevo compiacerti in cambio.”

MAN, I like this series. The world building is top notch, the hits keep on coming, and the romance is both sweet and sexy. Plus, we got to see more of Amalia and her dudes and I LOVE revisiting couples after the fact.

But this is Valena and Zhul's story. For the most part, at least. I guess I should say it's their romance. The story itself is bigger than any one couple. After all, there are still Veredians in captivity, not to mention the intriguing secret of who the Tuureans are and why they're working so hard to rescue the Veredians. (I have suspicions, mind you. SUSPICIONS!)

As for Valena and Zhul, they both have their fair share of issues to get past. Valena's ability to control others isn't something she shares willingly and Zhul's father's indiscretions have left in him in a tough place. Being forced into the position they're forced into is probably the only thing that made Zhul give Valena a second chance once her secret is revealed. That and Lhor's words of wisdom.

Blood houses, danger, the ever-present hope that the Taint can be contained in some way, and a smokin' hot romance (even when held in captivity). This series is amazingly captivating and I'm ALL IN on wherever the next installment takes us.

Blind Fate is the second book in the Veredian Chronicles series by author Regine Abel. Even though this story does focus mainly on a different couple, the underlining storyline is a continuation of the first story. Ms. Abel does a fabulous job of beginning the book with a recap for those in need of a refresher. Although to get the best understanding, you really need to read Escaping Fate first.

We met Valena in Escaping Fate working at one of the Blood Houses and I instantly felt compassionate towards her. It felt so wonderful to be back in this world with all my favorite characters that I became engrossed from the start. The unique and gripping storyline had me growling at my kids when they asked me for dinner! Gah, put the Kindle down? Never! Needless to say, my kids received microwave meals while I continued to read.

We also met Zhul in the first book and he was one of the main adversaries. I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about him, but I kept reading and OMG… I just love him! I really wish I had someone to buddy read with me because I want to tell you ALL about the plot, but I won’t. You just need to trust me and go out and read this series!

It’s simply Marvelous!

This book was fine, but I didn’t really like Valena.

Valena is still doing her job at the Blood Houses since none of the raids managed to rescue her. The person keeping her captive (V) has become more cautious, so he has Valena living elsewhere and is only being transported to the Blood Houses when she’s needed. That’s how she meets Zhul.

I liked Zhul. Maybe it’s because I don’t remember him from the previous book, but I liked how things were explained from his perspective in this book. Valena was fine, but I didn’t like her lies and I didn’t understand the need for them.

The plot was interesting, and I really liked getting chapters from Lhor’s POV. I would have wanted to see more scenes where Zhul and Lhor’s friendship is shown.

While I really like Ghan and I’m curious about Vahleryon, I don’t think I’m going to continue with the series.

5 Amazing Out of this World Stars

So when I read the first book in this series I was blown away and now that I have read the next book I must repeat myself!

Wow! What an out of this world adventure this book took me on. I was hooked from the very beginning and on the edge of my seat with all of the twists and turns. There was romance, action, adventure, danger and some very hot and steamy moments.

Now, this book is listed as a stand alone, however, I highly recommend reading Escaping Fate first in order to really get the full experience of what is going on. While Amalia, Lhor and Khel are not the main characters of this book, they do play a large role in the story line. Having an understanding of what happened in their book makes this book so much better.

Blind Fate follows Valena and her journey to free herself from slavery. Like Amalia, Valena also possesses psi abilities which make her extremely valuable to the ones who want to control her. Finally getting the opportunity she has been waiting for Valena embarks on a journey to not only free herself, but the rest of the women being held as well.

This book drew me in and didn't let me go from start to finish. It is a must read book for sure! You will not be disappointed.- By Alisa

The second book in this series picks up where #1 finished and it doesn't disappoint!

It was good to catch up with much loved characters from Escaping Fate but this is the story of Valena and Zuhl.

Both these characters are well fleshed out and have believable back stories. The attraction between them lights sparks but their relationship has many obstacles before they can achieve their HEA.

This is a tale of twisted politics, family rivalry, and it is not without surprises. There is action, near death, betrayal, and help from unexpected quarters, but at its heart this is a love story.

The world building just gets better and better, and you can imagine yourself there, in the thick of the action.

Whilst this story can be read as a standalone, you really need to read #1 to get the most out of it.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book, and was pleased to be chosen as a Beta reader.

Spectacular, a magical bend of the mind!

The second book I've read from this author and I have to say, nailed it. Every emotion possible will be had. Unless you live on the one planet without feelings, this is a go to. This author shook me.

So I was supposed to make tacos tonight. It ended up being frozen pizza. I couldn't be bothered to cook. Let me tell you, the last ten percent completely obliterated me. I thought, this book is good, but if it managed to bring out goosebumps, we're done. I was done. I stopped and took a breath. Told the kids I can't be bothered, and went about my business. Whew! I wish you all could experience this. I felt EVERYTHING! I don't agree with the standalone part. I honestly think reading the first book is imperative. You can't possibly feel the amount of hope, longing, trust or love, otherwise. I feel like the author has set-up such a undecided, hopeful world and nothing she writes could undermine my thoughts. I'm all in. I may be wrong but I don't care.

I wish I had the words to describe. The romance is a bonus. The world has already been built, I want to know how things will go. I'm not going into details, it's a different world, obviously. Even if you don't like Sci-Fi, this series so far is AMAZING! Breathtakingly Good! I couldn't be more happy to find such an amazing author.

I highly recommend to Sci-Fi/Paranormal romance readers!

📚 Segundo libro de la saga
💖 Romance alienígena / sci-fi

⚠️ Esclavitud
🔥 Escenas spicy
🗣️ Varios POV’s

A stunning story!
Zhul Dervhen is in quite a precarious position. He is suspected by General Praghan as one responsible for the Blood Houses. Now, there is evidence because of his father's actions. Valena, a slave, is willing to give up her own hopes because others would suffer more without her assistance. What a predicament!
This is an extraordinary tale with so many pitfalls that it seems Zhul will not come out ahead. Even the woman he loves seems willing to sacrifice him. Yet, there some stunning revelations that can alter everything.
These Veredian women are something else! I love seeing them in action!
It all begins in "Escaping Fate" and builds beautifully in this book. Each book can be read as a stand alone (no cliffhangers), but there is certainly more story to unfold. Don't miss it! I voluntarily reviewed an author's copy of this book.

I was provided an arc for an honest review

Wow, I was totally enthralled with this book. Regine Abel is a new author to me and I would definitely recommend this series to all my fellow readers.
Valena was born into slavery in a blood house under a sadistic master who burned her eyes at a young age.to prevent her from using her powers.
She plans on an escape by using Councilor Zhul. Valena dies not know that Zhul is her soulmate, he does not trust easily.
Valena is keeping secrets!!! Will this affect her plans with Zhul? Will Zhul ever trust her? will she ever be free?

I was very intrigued with this book. I was able to follow the character and the plot!! Well done Ms Abel. I would recommend this book!!
Some books you read, Some books you enjoy, but some just swallow you heart and soul!!! Thank you Ms Abel

I really enjoyed the latest from Regine Abel and the Veredian Chronicles. Valena is a Veredian who has the horrible job of stimulating the oxytocin from the females who are used and abused in the care of her Master. When she is hidden on a property she doesn’t know and belonging to a Xelixian named Zhul and the one some believe is has something to do with the Blood Houses. Zhul knows others believe him to be a monster, but he finds the captivating woman named Valena doesn’t see that. Their story is sweet, with some heat, add in some secrets and misunderstandings along with trying to take the bad guys down and I loved it. Amazing!
I thought the first book was great, well this one is as great as the first book. I love Valena and Zhul story. With this book, you get a better understanding of the Prime and the corruption happening in the Prime class. I love this world that Ms. Regine created. You never get lost with the storytelling. Although Regine's world is fiction, the explanation and the objects mentioned are not too far-fetch from reality. I wanted to see more of Khel but midway to the book I understand why we see more of Lhor than Khel. I think Valena is onto something and I can't wait to see where her questioning takes her in the next book.

Every now and then, I pick up a book a little different from my usual reads to change things up, discover a new author, try a new style. This series was just that. The first book was good, but this second one was so much more.

Half way through this book, I realized the author had a big plan for this story and for the stories of the books to follow...it felt like a puzzle slowly taking shape, however, I don’t think I realized up until mid-way the intricacies of all the details and how they are all tied together.. slowly the author is pacing us in her reveals and I was so drawn into it. This is great storytelling. I am looking forward to the next one.

Complex and intriguing story

This is such a good series. Each book advances our knowledge of the characters and the world they live in. The politics, the vial, the mysterious Tuurians, and the strong and gifted Veridian women. The heroine in this one has been blinded and serves the evil V. She has strong psychic powers and is closely guarded asset. How she meets Zuhl and their struggles to be together and free are full of action and passion. In many instances, things are not what they seem and forgiveness and second chances are necessary. A good read, can't wait for the next installment.

What a great story!! I really love that the length of this book . Often times books in this genre are too short (in my opinion). There was enough details that while I was reading, it was like a movie playing in my head, I knew exactly what the characters and scenes looked like. Plus, I adore bad ass hot aliens that will go thru anything to protect the ones they love. Please Please Please tell me there will be another book with Ghan story??

*I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC version of this book. My opinions are mine and truthful.*

I am in love love love with this series. If you love world building stories, this series is for you. Valena and Zhul are great characters. Valena has been a slave in "V"'s Blood Houses for five years. Zhul is Khel's nemesis from the first book. I didn't think I'd like him as much as I do. I also enjoyed having Lhor's point of view included as well because honestly, you can never get enough Lhor. I got emotional all over again when things happened. I was hooked the whole time and I have to say, this book was even better than the first one. I am in desperate need of the third book. Regine Abel has quickly become one of my favorite authors. Read this book! The writing is too good not to.
