What a fabulous book. I am sorry I missed the exhibition that the book relates to, but the book is definitely stand-alone. I was pleased to extend my knowledge of the mapping of the Pacific to understand more about the mapping of Australia. But most of all I found it really fascinating to see how maps drawn at any one time also reflect the way people think about the world.

There is an excellent description of The Portuguese Prince Pedro's purchase of the Fra Mauro Map from Venice in The Globe number 48 1999.. See Trove.
