The heroine: Laura - she helps Celeste from Death Adder get away in the pod from the team of humans while they all try to get away in their ship. Though the ship gets into trouble near Earth which has been taken over by a race of sentient humanoid snakes. Laura is fascinated by those beings though the captain of the Dreadnought wants to keep it secret. Celeste had brought Laura proof of the Naga, but Laura ends up having to get into a pod as well and crashes on Earth. Now the Captain of the Dreadnought is after Laura.
The Hero: Azsote - He nearly got a woman last time the ships came to Earth, but this time he sees some ships land, he plans to get a woman of his own. He moves toward the sound as soon as he can and sees rival Syasku chasing her. He fights against Syasku and Syasku is captured and taken into a large ship. Azsote dodges the second ship when it comes after him and rushes into the trees after Laura.
The Story: When the ships from the Dreadnought comes after Laura and Azsote, she realizes he is protecting her from the ships trying to get them both. She thinks he is beautiful and remembers Celeste telling her that some of the Naga are good, and the fact that their scent can be addictive, so she tries to stay away from him, to not breathe in his scent. She is surprised that he speaks the common language but wants to keep her distance.
I have read and listened to more than a few books now where one of the main characters is not quite as humanoid as I would like. Some are much better than others. Sometimes the fact that a main character is so different really bothers me, but I really have liked every book in this series. The way I figure it, sentient is sentient and so I can see the love story. Though the book has to be compelling for me to overcome the yuk factor and these books do that well. I like the storylines and how the characters get to know each other. The world building is terrific as well. The explanations of Azsote’s home/nest are great and the landscape. The one thing I don’t like about this series is how messy the intimate scenes seem. Suffice it to say, the Naga have a lot of seed and it ends up everywhere.
This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by John Masterson and Elizabeth Hart. Elizabeth isn’t one of my favorite narrators, I think there is something about her voice which I don’t like, but she does a fine job. I like John Masterson’s deep voice which is perfect for the Naga.

4 stars. I love the Naga Brides series but the repetitive nature of the FMC’s is beginning to get on my nerves. It’s the same woman in every book:
1. Desperate to go home
2. Naive as hell
3. Believes she knows best
4. Upset that the men do not understand human customs (ie: mating contracts versus having sex for pleasure)
I want to read a book with a FMC who is THRILLED to be with a Naga man! I don’t care much of the women who spent 97% of the book trying to get back to space, only to realize that everything they wanted could be found on earth. Give me a girl who’s obsessed with the naga, so much so that’s he’s like “wtf did I do to deserve such a female”

After helping Celeste escape the Dreadnaut, Laura is now stranded on Earth. Alone. But meeting Azsote, a Boomslang Naga might be her chance to get to the other women she knows are somewhere hidden. But Azsote, who thought all women had already been claimed by other males, won't miss his chance to claim his own female this time.
I feel like there wasn't a major step from the last books, story-wise. The plot mainly revolved around Laura and Azsote, and them avoiding the people from the Dreadnaut who are chasing after Laura to bring her back, trying to get to their goal.
Laura was kind and sweet, like I expected her to be. She seemed very mature and knowledgeable. It's explained by the fact she is much older than the other heroines. I know it might sound weird but I personally appreciated the fact that the heroine was older and perimenopausal. She had worries that we usually don't see in other books with the same genre; since most heroines are in their early twenties. I liked the fact that she feared Azsote might not want her since she most likely can't have babies anymore, that she is well passed her prime. Those are all things women her age experience at some point, and it was nice to see that Azsote really wanted her for her and not for what she could give him. I found it refreshing and sweet and comforting, in a way.

As for Azsote, he was possessive and protective. He was also unexperimented with females, which gave that sort of age-gap dynamic between a younger man and a mature woman, and yet, still very dominant and demanding. He had a lot of desires for Laura no matter her worries about her age. If you compare him to previous heroes, he seemed to be a little bit weaker but I believe it's because his strength is camouflage. He was still very good at protecting Laura. I found him rather charming.
They had a nice chemistry, they communicated a lot. The only little downside about this story, and I think most people would agree, is how the main characters were on the run for most of it. There wasn't much progression on the main plot, even if eventually, we did get more development at the end, and get to see characters from previous books and how they are doing.

Бумсланг для мене був такий найзагадковіший персонаж з попередніх книжок і взагалі я його очікувала найбільше. Дивлячись на попередню його поведінку я думала, що він і тут покаже себе з не дуже гарної сторони, але він був нормальним (як для нага). Мені подобається, що впродовж всієї серії ми бачимо попередніх персонажів і вони спілкуються між собою, це найбільше що мені взагалі подобається в книжкових серіях. Поки це остання книжка, але там є ще наги без пар, то ж з нетерпінням чекаю на наступні історії.

Not my favorite one in the series, but I am still so very intrigued on how this world building continue to evolve and deepen. Looking forward to the next one!

I really struggled with this book. It had an interesting start but it went nowhere. The main characters weren’t a couple, and then they just were. I didn’t feel any energy between them. I also never found out why Laura is so important to her people. She has good dna? Sooo lame and racist. Plus, she just gave up on getting to her daughter? I’m not sure if her life is better or worse at the end of the book. Aszote is as far from an alpha as you can get. The ending was more of a pause. Nothing is resolved. I’m disappointed because I really loved the first 3 books in the series.

Not going to lie, and this hurts me to say, but I wasn't into this. I wanted Azsote to find his love so badly but this wasn't my cup of tea. I appreciate the idea that Laura was a doctor and she would help with the Naga and human cause but this love story should have been a short story. Also I hate that I'm going to say this considering I'm in my late 40s but the menopause talk wasn't hot. If you want to unsexy a smutty book (for me) talk about hot flashes and mood swings. So yeah this didn't work for me.

3 stars. I didn’t like this couple as much as some of the others but it was a good book to move the story along. The action is what kept me reading. Like another book in this series it introduced some new characters that I’m more interested in, which will keep me reading the series.

Жалекс розпочав еру адекватних нагів, а Азсот її продовжив - дуже багато доброти, витримки, турботи і поваги до бажань своєї пари. До нього в мене претензій немає. Та і сцени 18+ тут були кращі, ніж в перших трьох частинах.
Але в цілому книжка мені не дуже сподобалась - мені було нудно десь половину часу, що я її читала. Але мені сподобалось те, що нам показали, як формується клан і як взаємодіють герої всіх попередніх книг. Плюс тут вже значно більше уваги приділяється світоустрою, політиці та наближенню війни.
Піду читати шосту частину🌚

Laura + Azsote
Mehh, this one was a whole lot of nothing then just plot dump slash history refresh dump in the end. I do like this series, but the overall world building and over arching plot is so clunky. I do liked that there was a bit of "remember this? and this? and this? in the epilogue to serve as a refresher. I think the world building and plot will smooth out as we keep going (I hope) just for an easier reading. Regardless I'll keep picking up the books.
I do like how Azsote was very adamant about Laura making her own choice when it came to staying with him or leaving to serve her revenge. Laura was a refreshing character in her late '40s with an intriguing background story and how it ties to the bad guy the medical equipment on earth.
Had to just chip away at this one though, wasn't particularly invested. But like I said, I'll continue on whenever the mood strikes.

Book 5 in the Naga Brides post apocalyptic scifi snake alien series and this was my least favorite. The FMC is over 40 and shes VERY unhappy that she is. It seems to define her and what she cant and cant do which overall made for a frustrating read. This installment expands on the lore from where the humans inhabit and the messed up political situation off earth. Aszote is a huge softie that didnt really deserve her but in the end that also got a little old lol. He’s a big strong alien and he’s just moping cause she thinks shes too old for him lmao. I did enjoye her character development where she grew to prioritize herself and her happiness and the in the end.

I like this series, but I have to say this one was my least favorite. I feel like 90% of the book was them running & hiding, running & hiding and running & hiding some more away from ships/humans. I GET IT already y’all are being hunted and you have to, yup-you guessed it, run & hide. I wish there were more to it than that, but not really. IDK but this was was just super dull and the spicy was lackluster at best.

YES! We're back on a ravaged earth with those slightly feral nagas and their human ladies. To be fair, Azsote is probably the most gentlemanly naga we've been introduced to yet. At least as far as his treatment of Laura goes. Or at least he's as gentlemanly as a naga whose instincts are riding them hard can be. He knows he wants Laura as his, but he wants her to choose him, not be forced or coerced into a relationship. He also remembers what happened when male nagas forced matings back when there were females around and he most definitely doesn't want that outcome with Laura.
Yeah, these nagas are complicated.
Azsote doesn't see Laura's flaws (or at least the flaws she sees in herself like her age and whatnot), but he completely understands that she's weaker than him and not well adapted to survive this world. Which means he's determined to keep her safe even if it means destroying himself in the process. On Laura's end, it takes her a while to come to the realization that society (or what there is of it on this world) is VERY different from what she's lived on the ships. She's not expected to give everything to lift up her family name and maintain their caste because those things don't matter here. She's allowed to figure out what she likes and what she wants and explore those things.
As it turns out, she likes Azsote and his protectiveness. She likes his fierceness and the way he sees her as everything he's ever wanted in a partner. It just takes time for her to shake the old mindset and take a fresh look at the things she can accomplish planet-side.
Things are getting dangerous, babies are being born, the naga are in full-on protective mode of their special someones. MAN, I like this series!

Guess I had to break the seal after reading A Crown of Oaths and Curses. Sigh. Anyhoo.
I read the first Naga book and skipped right to this one. So I missed a lot in between as all the characters from those are in this one and prominently too.
Was not a fan of the fmc. Ae are reminding many times she is a doctor. We are reminded many times that she is at the age of perimenopause-not sure how old. She has a secret.
Ok.
So it was nice to have an older character. If we are told the age, I missed it. But I know she can’t have kids anymore from HER assumptions. It was a weird thing to place into a book but I guess I sort ofget why she stayed a bit obscure with the details. Less to trigger more sensitive folks with.
I began peri at the age of 40. And was still fertile until I had a hysterectomy at the age of 48. Not sure what science the author was using, or if she was just writing her shit and not concerned bc its sci fi anyway.
Who knows. It annoyed me. My own grandma had a baby in her late 40’s. My dad. So seeing this woman act as if she is so over the hill she was def barren was corny af.
It would have made TONS more sense to me, if the author gave us an age. 50. 55. Something. But peri can start SO early that none of it made sense to me. And then at the end she is in full menopause too? It was all weird to me. Forced.
Boomslang MC was a decent guy. Protective. Loving. Etc.
Good spice. Plot was decent. Not as fun a read for me as the first one.
I feel for this book bc reading this after a five star, epic fantasy novel was just not fair. But I had to do it at some point. 🤷🏻♀️

Azsote was really my least favorite character in the series. I didn't really pay much attention to the couple, but what I liked was the plot. This series is actually great if you are looking for a post-apocalyptic experience. I can't wait for the next installment.

I honestly never know how to review these books. They are just amazing. I am never let down. Each time I read one, I love it. Azsote's book is no exception. These Nagas are top tier monster alien heroes. I adore them. And the stories are so full with a central focal point that connects them. And the growth in the character arcs throughout each book is a continuous thing seen throughout each sequel. It is beautiful to read!
More than anything I can't get over how scorching hot these snake men are. Each time I read them I have to take a day out to live out my internal Naga romance fantasies. They really make me wish I could go to a new planet with Nagas and live happily ever after!
Azsote and Laura's romance has that key NL aspect of drama that all the Naga books have. Some sort of internal or external conflict that builds the emotion of the relationship, draws out the development, and grows your excitement for their HEA. Laura and Azsote had to contend with Laura's goals to put an end to a corrupt power and her fear of finally letting herself love. Afraid that her age would be a detriment to Azsote's future happiness. That because of her age she wouldn't be able to give him everything he deserved or be the partner he deserved. I loved seeing her slowly give in to her desire for Azsote and her feelings. Even with her internal struggles she couldn't stay away. And Azsote is amazingly caring and sexy and perfect. Just as expected. Because (let's be honest) all of these Nagas are perfection. Flaws and all. I love them!
This is definitely an age gap trope, with Laura being older than Azsote. However, the exact gap isn't fully clear as we find out Azsote is a bit older than first guessed. He's still fairly younger though.
As someone who doesn't generally enjoy age gaps, I sometimes ignore the age aspects of the story and pretend there isn't a big gap. I'm just not into them. But sometimes a book is just so good, and the age gap is handled so well, that I don't have to do it much. And I find myself enjoying it even with the gap! There's only a handful of books I've fully enjoyed that have a fairly decent age gap, and this is for sure one of them!
What a great romance and journey these two have. I loved every minute of this and I'm dying for more of the series! We got more Naga introductions as well and more Nagas banding together. It was such a wonderful story and I think it might have been the "least dark" of the series so far. Zhallaix is still my #1 but I love the rest equally. I'm just so blown away by this series. Naomi is definitely a go-to author for me since discovering this series. If you haven't read them, you need to!

I will be mentioning a content warning in this review.
So if you have been following this series, you know that Laura was introduced in the previous novel.
Laura escapes the ship she’s on, because she has a recorder that she wants to give to someone else in charge, because the man who has been commanding these missions to Earth is a horrid piece of donkey shit.
You end up finding out in this story that Laura’s reproductive eggs were essentially stolen from her, and she has reached the age where she will be going through menopause. Years ago she was raped by the guy running the missions to Earth, and he harvested her eggs to implant his seed. She’s a part of this medical family that first started on Earth, and she has a daughter Vivian that she doesn’t know through the piece of crap who raped her. (So essentially reproduction coercion, also her family was okay with this) 🤦🏻♀️.
I enjoyed this story more than the others, because Azsote was not extremely possessive or controlling as the other Naga snakes. He was willing to give Laura up if she truly wanted to go back to the ship. Also I felt like she controlled their sexual encounters better.
Also I liked the fact that not all of these women will be reproducing with the Naga men, because Laura was an older female. Azsote also was okay with the fact that he wasn’t going to be a father.
The only downside to this story, was the fact that I felt like the story dragged on a bit.

As far as I remember it is the first naga that makes me say awwww, so cute, he made a nice gesture to the protagonist.
I liked it, I felt a certain difference from the previous books. The writer achieves a good narration, specific scenes have their right moment and don't bother, it's something that usually happens to me.
The truth is I'm just waiting for the Krillix book I thought it would be this number, crossing my fingers that it's the seventh.

the males in these books are getting more self-sacrificing too 😭
I think there's a particular major issue in this book that was sort of glazed over? Almost like an "it's in the past, nothing to do about it now" thing that felt a bit mishandled to me
I love how I know precisely which line made Laura realize she was never gonna leave. And her getting jealous!!!!!!!!!! I didn't know I needed that until it happened.
I know Syasku's story is next but 😔 I want to read about Krellix!!
