Alien Alpha Mates #1

Craving the Alien Vampire

Rate this book
I thought being abducted by aliens and auctioned to the highest bidder was the worst things could get. But I was wrong. Because the man who bought me is unimaginably dangerous and sinfully sexy– a big, brooding vampire alien.

When he sees a bruise on my cheek, he kills the man who hurt and sold me, nullifying his purchase. To keep me from returning to the auction, we have to get married.

We're complete opposites. I'm a cheerful and optimistic dreamer who always sees the best in people. He's a guarded and gruff smuggler who always expects the worst. Yet we'd both be lying if we said we didn't crave each other– body, heart, and soul.

But I want to return to Earth and he wants to return to his life of solitude... even if we both wish our marriage of convenience was real.

Craving The Alien Vampire is book 1 of the Alien Alpha Mates series and is a 20,000 word-long novella. There is no cheating, no cliffhanger, and a happily ever after guaranteed!

How was this my life right now? Kidnapped by extraterrestrials, sold to another alien who I let finger me, and now I was surrounded by a bunch of hot otherworldly males with impeccable manners who called me ma’am. What was life?

First off, I really enjoyed how Maya just accepted what was happening to her and threw herself into the moment and took advantage of the situation at hand. It was refreshing and a take on sci-fi romances I haven't read yet.

So like the quote suggests: Maya is abducted and sold at an auction to MMC Torin. He's an alien vampire and the two are drawn together like magnets. They do some spicy things, get married for her safety, and then there's more spicy things before a conflict and HEA. This whole novella takes place in the span of a few days if I'm recalling correctly.

I thought this was fun. Most definitely insta-love/lust and focuses on the smut more so than world or relationship building. The way some things were written were a bit confusing and I felt like the characters both lacked conviction. I wanted some details thrown in to explain as to why things were the way they were. Also...would've loved more blood drinking scenes. He's a vampire. I demand it.

On the bright side, the MMC has a ribbed and vibrating dick and there's a slew of "my wife" lines. Both of these things are my jam.

Rating 2.5 rounded up to 3 stars.

I received an E-ARC from the author, however these are my honest thoughts.

3.75 - 4 smut-scale stars!

Craving the Alien Vampire is Ro's debut novella about a grumpy vampire named Torin and a fiesty human female named Maya. When Maya is rescued by Torin from an alien auction, their chemistry ignites because Maya is Torin's fated mate. However, danger and uncertainty may just keep them apart. Will Torin and Maya fight for each other?

“Stars, you’re so wet for me. You’re taking it so well, good girl.”

Torin was a layered character and I loved the way he loved Maya. He was an alpha male but at times it felt like he reverted to more beta nature...especially in terms of "keeping" Maya. I would have liked him to stick to his guns that Maya was his regardless of circumstances. But he more than made up for it in the bedroom...*fans self*.

Maya was a strong heroine and I liked that she stood up for herself and didn't accept less. She was Torin's equal and their love (although a little insta-lusty) was sweet and genuine.

The steam in here was yummy and well done and while I do think there could have been a little more world building...for a novella it was more than sufficient. I will definitely be looking out for future books from this author and if you're into Sci-fi romance, I definitely recommend.

An entertaining steamy novella.

I enjoyed some part more than the other. Loved the found family vibe. They were truly a bunch of misfits.

I needed a little more buildup between Torin and Maya before they started … well, what happens in chapter 3. In my opinion the conflict between Torin and Maya needed a little more work. For some reason I couldn’t connect with the protagonists properly and that affected my enjoyment.

Overall a short, spicy novella with low angst and good characters.

I received an advance review copy and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.

I love a good fated mates romance, and packaged into a novella-size (a.k.a bite size) bundle of fun, I can't resist. I am typically wary of reading novellas though, because sometimes there is too much story to pack in. It can become overpowering and not as enjoyable a reading experience. However, Ro Singh did a fantastic job writing a well-plotted romance within a short framework, which left me both satisfied and craving more from this series.

Having been sold out by her ex-boyfriend to a bunch of bug-like aliens, Maya is both irritated at her past dating choices and terrified at what lies ahead. Shuffled off to the auction block wearing barely any clothes, she realizes her future is precarious - be collected, be eaten, be killed. Thankfully there is a fourth option in the form of Torin, a vampiric alien on a mission, who purchases Maya as part of his plan to find someone who has been missing. Upon meeting her, though, things become complicated as Torin recognizes Maya as his soulmate. Torin wants her desperately, knowing how rare soulmates are, and he marries her to keep her safe. But he knows he will have to give her up to keep her alive, even if Maya would rather risk it all and stay with him.

I loved Torin - bloodthirsty on the outside, with the whole "Touch Her and Die" vibe, but a complete softie when it came to Maya. He was all about making her feel good and keeping her safe, in that order. But poor guy had trusted the wrong people before and got others killed, and he was so worried the same thing would happen to Maya. While all she wanted was to stay with him, Torin just kept keeping her at a distance. Gosh, this had a lot of angst for such a small book! Thankfully it is short-lived, and we get out happily ever after. With the sweetest reunion and the most lovely lines from Torin. If you like alpharolls...I would classify him as such. I'll take a Torin, please...if any of those aliens watching us is listening.

*ARC Review*

I was approached by the author for a review of her upcoming book.

I always promise honest reviews, and this is another one of those despite it being opposite to the general consensus in the review section.

I have a full understanding that this was a novella and what I was meant to expect of it as I have read multiple novellas previous to this one.

However, I believe the pacing and execution were not engaging at all. It didn't help that the sentence structure and grammar felt very disconnected and not up to par.

There were also a lot of plot discrepancies as well, which I can not go into detail without risking spoiling the main plot.

The main selling dynamic of this book was grumpy×sunshine which the author heavily marketed on. But whilst I was reading this, their personalities were extremely underdeveloped and didn't portray any of these characteristics.

The MMC was never really grumpy to her from the beginning and was only like that with his crew.

There was also something else that bothered me, which was that the fmc is described to of been forced into the marriage and was quite unwilling, but that was not the case at all. She put up no fight and just gave in very easily. I don't know if it was mis-marketing or if I was setting too high of an expectation.

Most of the tropes were just thrown in without any real substance to it. Because this was a novella, it could've gone without some of these tropes to make way for more proper storytelling, but alas.

The FMC really couldn't make up her mind on what she wanted or even knew to that extent. She'd be intimate with him one moment and then immediately turn around and say she didn't trust him and didn't want to go anywhere with him, even though he had just explained why and how he saved her.

Overall, the whole plot was just so confusing and didn't deliver what it could've potentially delivered.

2/5⭐️

This is an insta-lust, grumpy X sunshine, alien/vampire novella.

I wanted to like this more than I did as it had all the tropes I love, however it just fell a bit flat for me.

The thing I did enjoy about this novella was the spicy scenes, I think they were written well & were the best parts of the story.

However, I found the rest of the story confusing at times as many things weren’t explained or just didn’t make sense. The fmc was written as strong & feisty however, it still confused me how she was super chill about everything going on considering she just got kidnapped by aliens.

If you’re just here for a smutty good time and can overlook all the rest, than I think you’ll enjoy it.

This was a really fun novella!

The heroine gets saved at an alien auction when the alien vampire hero buys her for 5 million dollars. Crazy, right?? Little does he know that the small human woman may or may not be his fated mate!

I love how hot this book was! Oh, and the fact he was a vampire alien! Super cool! However, I do wish this book was longer. I feel like there needed to be more included about the characters and their backstories. I just wanted more :)

Overall, a great debut novella!

I was sent an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

My biggest complaint from this author's debut work was I wanted the story to be longer! I would have loved more back story about our main characters and for the things we do learn, to be explained sooner. It was a fun read and the spice was great. It's got the beginnings of a fun alien romance series.

I wanted to tell her how gorgeous she looked. How delicious she tasted. How much I f*cking loved her. But all I could focus on was her taste on my tongue and her hands in my hair.

4 stars

Who knew alien vampires were just as brooding as sparkly ones?! This was a steamy, out-of-this-world debut novella from Ro that kept me reading. There was just enough insta-lust sexiness and villain drama for me to enjoy as Torin struggles with his feelings of unworthiness and his pull towards his mate, while Maya simply wants to be loved. The story was fast-paced and the world-building was a bit inconsistent, but I see potential in this new author and am excited for more🖤

Tropes: fated mates, marriage of convenience, 'touch her and die' vibes, abducted heroine, broody hero, 'you deserve better than me' vibes, insta-lust, STEAMY🔥

Would def have benefited from being longer I think we needed more build between Maya and Torin and also would need more time between conflicts because everything gets resolved too quickly. Excited to see an expansion on the world with the next books in the series

A ribbed and vibrating 🍆?! Maya is one lucky human 😩 this was a smutty good time!

This was a fast paced novella about a human who was abducted from Earth and put into an intergalactic auction. She ends up being bought by a vampire alien who’s on a secret mission.

Because this is a novella your not going to get lots of world building and relationship depth but this novella did a pretty good job with the limited pages. I do think a little more world building would have made a bigger difference. I did have to suspend belief a few times to make this story work (like how the heck did everyone speak the same language? And the alien didn’t know the word kiss but he knew “come for me”?) but I enjoyed the characters and story enough that I didn’t mind to much.

The spice was.. spicing!! lots of spice with lots of praise.. good times!!

Overall this was fun and I’d definitely check out what else this author writes! Thanks to the author for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This fast-paced novella was Ro’s debut, and she did not disappoint! By nature of the story being a novella, our main characters came together super quickly; slow burn? Don’t know her. The story also acted as a world-building opportunity to set up other possible storylines for some of the characters we were introduced to.

I recommend this book to my monster-loving girlies looking for a quick, easy palate cleanser 🤍

Thank you Ro Singh for the opportunity to read this arc; all opinions are my own.

This is a fast paced, spicy, fun novella. Overall, I enjoyed this debut story, and might read more of the world. While I enjoyed much of the read, there were also some things that caused frustration.

The Basics
* Relationship: mf - alien m + human f
* Setting: traveling in space
* POV: dual POV
* Series/Standalone: first in new series; HEA for couple; next book is different MCs
* Genres & Tropes
* Sci-fi/Alien romance
* Grumpy-Sunshine
* Marriage of convenience
* Touch her and die
* Fated mates
* Fast burn

Thoughts

Things go down fast! It is a novella, so a lot of that is expected! Through the story we get to meet Torin’s team, learn a bit about both MC’s histories. (Both of them have some baggage!).

I really enjoyed when Maya and Torin had back and forth banter. The vampire questions was a particular favorite. Torin’s inner monologue was when he would answer things in his head one way but focus on a different meaning out loud was also a lot of fun. I would have loved to have more banter, more time with the crew, and development in that area.

I struggled a bit with understanding certain character motivations and decisions. I think if more ground work had been laid, more explanation or buildup of certain emotions/feelings, then it wouldn’t have felt so off when Maya took certain actions in chapter 3 (especially without understanding why Torin was there). I am also going to say I also noted “stop doing it and talk ffs” at one point. Like, y’all, just put your pants on and talk. Novella pacing is tricky! And I did find a lot to enjoy here! There were just some things that needed a bit more.

(This is some petty complaining about Maya. I’m sorry)

tropes/themes

- marriage of convince
- alpha hero
- sunshine x grumpy
- smutty
- touch her and 💀
- alien vampire x human

“believe me, i want much more than your blood… i want to possess every inch of you.” 🪐

who ever thought i would be an alien romance girlie?? i need MORE. 🫣🫣

🩸 those who know me, know that i love fast paced books with lots of spice and tension. and this novella really hit that spot. 😩

👽 i was so drawn to the cover - the social media promotion of the tropes, characters and whole premise of this book made me so excited to read it!

🛸 the writing of this book is amazing, i found it so easy to read and i loved how both main characters had a distinctive voice and personality. i was so invested in the characters.

🩸 i loved Maya’s sweetness and Torin’s grumpiness. even though the story was insta-lust, it worked well within the story and I still found it believable.

(i almost cried at the end but then again i am a very emotional person so please no judgement 😭)

🌠 i was so interested with all the sci-fi references and cultural differences between Maya and Torin. i’m glad these differences were addressed in a comedic way, as it made the story more understandable and interesting.

Yes Torin, us humans believe we are the only sentient beings in the universe…

🖤 i loved the dialogue, chemistry, and banter between the characters. the spicy scenes were actually some of the best written scenes i’ve ever read!!

Oh my goodness, if you need a short, sweet, and spicy alien palate cleanser - Craving the Alien Vampire is for you. This fun novella only took me maybe an hour to read, the perfect read to grab after finishing some LONG and intense books. It's SUPER fast-paced and jam-packed with LOTS of vampire alien action... in more ways than one.

Kidnapped from Earth, Maya finds herself imprisoned on an alien planet and completely bewildered. When she's auctioned off to the highest bidder, she is absolutely horrified until she meets her new "owner" Torin. She feels an EXTREMELY strong pull towards him (and vice versa), and in an effort to protect her from being stolen again Torin proposes a marriage of convenience. Maya agrees with the understanding that their marriage is essentially fake - but does their sizzling chemistry mean that there's something more going on?

Craving the Alien Vampire is Ro Singh's debut novella, and I'm really impressed! Despite being so short, it's very well-written and flows well. And the spice is GREAT! Torin has some... very impressive equipment ("ribbed for her pleasure"!), it's really got all the features of an awesome alien romance.

This genre always requires a little bit of suspension of disbelief, and this book moves SO FAST it's definitely necessary not to take things too seriously. While this book features instalust, it's also fated mates SO ITS JUSTIFIED. Don't @ me, coast on some vibes, and enjoy the ride guys. Literally my only complaint was that I wished it were longer so some parts of the story could be more fleshed out. I can't wait to read more from this author!

✨️Craving the Alien Vampire by Ro Singh coming out September 1st 2023✨️

Thank you so much @rosinghwrites for prividing me with an ARC ebook 🥰❤️

Wow this was short, action-packed and HOT 🔥
This is what awaits you in this debut novella:
✨️some super-extra- INSTA-lust *cough*chapted 3 *cough*
✨️a grumpy alien vampire who is adorably confused about human anatomy
✨️a sunshine holds-her-ground human FMC
✨️intergalactical alliances and criminals
✨️very interesting types of aliens
✨️omg the SMUT 🔥🔥🔥
✨️fated-mates
✨️"who did this to you?"

Maya is a human who got sold by her crappy boyfriend and auctioned at an intergalactical auction party as a slave. Saved by Torin and his friends, Maya and the sexy vampire alien can't keep their hands - and teeth - off eachother. They are clearly destined to be together but the out-of-space kind of danger and uncertanty might get in the way.

This was very fast-paced and fun novella, I loved the ideas and all the different types of aliens we meet. The smut was ofc my favorite part but beware it is very insta-lusty, it was a bit too fast for me. To be fair though, the autor warned us in the foreword and kept their promise 😂 I think the rest of the series will be amazing, especially because of the longer format but also because the writing style is very flowy and easy to read, and the world-building quite promising. I'm sure there's great things in store for us 🙌

3.5⭐️ Torin was always so worry about her, always trying to make sure she is good, he is so sweet and hot🥵🤭
Him thinking she was better off without him and thinking he didn't deserve her💔even after finding out she was his mate😭
I liked how Maya stood up for herself and told him straight up👏🏼
And the questions Maya was asking Torin had me dying 😂😂
"Can you shapeshift into a bat?” “A bat?” I frowned. I didn’t know what that was.
"Can you see yourself in mirrors?” “... Yes. Can you not?” 🤣

If you like:
🩶Fast paced
🩶Very insta-lusty
🩶Steamy🌶️🌶️🌶️ (biting and vibrating🍆 included)
🩶Marriage of Convenience
🩶Fated Mates
🩶Grumpy Alien Vampire😏
🩶Touch her & I'll kill you (literally)
🩶HEA
Then definitely read this book.

I feel like if the book was longer we could have gotten more world building and more details especially about their backstory. Some parts could have been elaborated more, I was a little confused some times but I still enjoyed the book and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

“Believe me, I want much more than your blood.” His tone went gravelly. “I want to possess every inch of you.”

"Careful how you speak to my wife, Dookix. Disrespect my wife like that again, and it’ll be the last thing you do.”🤭

“You saved me,” I repeated, voice soft. “Can I kiss you?” “You can do whatever you want to me,”

"That’s it, good girl.”🫠

"I’m gonna take you hard and fast,” he growled as he bottomed out in me. “Fuck you until you can’t remember your own name.”🥵

I didn’t deserve Maya. I knew that. But it didn’t make it hurt any less. 💔

He made me feel important, as if I was the sun, and he was caught in my orbit.

"You touched her, so that means you die.”😌

Three words… ALIEN VAMPIRE SMUT!

This is an instalove/lust novella, it’s fast paced & has my favourite trope… WHO DID THIS TO YOU?!

I enjoyed this novella a lot, although I’m not the biggest fan of instalove/lust, these novellas don’t have time to beat around the bush. It was incredibly spicy and made me want to be sold to my own vampire alien.

I’ll leave you with some quotes to convince you to read it:
- “That’s right, you’re doing a good job. You’re so wet for me,”
- “Where are you going?” I asked, wary. “To kill the male that touched you. I’ll start by cutting off his hands...”

THANK U GOODNIGHT

I had mixed feelings about this book. The premise was solid and had potential, but the follow through wasn’t as good. Instalove isn’t my fave trope, so I tend to give leeway with my ratings when it shows up, but this was kinda chaotic. Like every other page both MCs were contradicting themselves on how they felt. It was jarring.
I think the author has potential tho, so I’m not ruling out future books by her.

Spice: 5/5

Triggers: abduction, imprisonment, dehydration and starvation/malnutrition, beatings, electric shocks, human trafficking, power differential in relationship, violence, gore, murder, mention of toxic past relationship, brief discussion of battle trauma and grief

This was nothing like I would usually read, however I thoroughly enjoyed and I am so excited for the next one!
Everything about this book is amazing from the cover to the writing. The book flowed so easily, I read in less than 2 hours🫣 after the first page I was hooked and loved Maya immediately, and then Torin came in and I swooned 🫠🫠🫠

A vampire alien that calls you a good girl & will kill anyone that touches you?! Fuck yeah.

This one was a wild ride. A human is sold for 5 mil at an alien auction to none other than a big honking alien man who she later finds out only eats blood, I’d call her one lucky biatch. It’s giving twilight meats IPB.

I would say it did feel a smidge rushed, even for a novella, at some points but I still enjoyed it!!

MY OH MY. We love Insta lust here. Such a fun quick and spicy read. I absolutely love Maya and Torin and the instant bond they feel. The way they accept each other without question. They are an amazingly cute couple. My only wish is that this novella was longer! I wanted so much more story and to dive into the characters more. But I guess that's the sign of a good book.

Blazed right through this book! So happy I got to be an ARC reader for Maya and Torin’s story! If you love “touch her and die” books, this is for you! I’ve always heard about these tropes and wanted to read it but this was a great start into my new obsession 🩵 I really want to dive more into the world Ro Singh has created and I can’t wait for more to come! Thank you so much for making my night! Everyone else needs to hop on this ribbed bandwagon 👀
