Frightening nightmares. Aberrations in time. Who is haunting Cate’s nightmares?
Months after solving two mysteries involving her ancestors, time-traveling, castle-dwelling Countess, Lady Catherine Kensie, still suffers from haunting nightmares. Chased by a mysterious man, Cate ponders who could be haunting her dreams and disturbing her sleep. She’s also smack dab in the middle of a brand-new research project, having found journals belonging to the Scottish castle’s original owner.
As Cate digs into the castle’s history, not only do her nightmares become more frequent and more frightening, but Cate also begins to experience strange phenomena with the time portals enclosed in the castle walls. Controlled by the mysterious heirloom timepiece she received as part of her inheritance, Cate is shocked when she begins to slip in and out of other time periods despite not activating the mechanism that controls them!
Can Cate learn the secret to control the time portals and discover who haunts her dreams before she finds herself lost in time?

I’m really into the Cate Kinsie / Dunhaven Castle Mysteries. After enjoying this third audiobook,I wondered what the author would do in #4 to keep the series fresh. I was surprised and entertained and look forward to #5!
Danger at Dunhaven Castle: Cate Kensie Mystery Book 4
Well, this book, #4, was definitely intense and filled with intrigue. This has been a fabulous series! Hopefully it will continue since there is still the Duke wandering around somewhere, the origination of the spikes & why the time travel rips began to multiply. Excellent series! Fabulous writing, mystery, action, and characters. Don't miss out! 😍
I so very much enjoyed this series of books and can't wait for the next one. How I would love to meet my ancestors from Centuries ago. I love Scotland and castles, Lords and Ladies. Superb story lines. These books, don't disappoint.
I had a hard time putting this book down, it seemed like every time I tried there was just enough story line for me to want to read just a little bit more-much to the disgust of my 2 dogs who do make it take a lot longer to read a complete book without interruption. I'm looking forward to a fifth book but while waiting will start on the Shadowslayers series which blends perfectly with Cate and Jack's adventures in time.
I enjoyed reading this segment of the Cate Kensie Mystery Series, especially how Nellie Steele incorporates two series storylines into one. The story flowed effortlessly and logically to incorporate related serial characters into one terrific scenario. With the consistency of the characters, their relationships, friendships, and even their antagonist connections, the story draws the reader in with plot surprises, twists, and keeps the reader intrigued wanting to read more. While Cate is tormented by a sinister, dark figure that mysteriously invades her dreams for unknown reasons, she finds that not is well within the halls of Dunhaven Castle and she must solve the mysteries to avoid disaster. Nellie Steele keeps her readers captivated by the action and the possibilities of what may happen not only to Cate but her ancestry as well. The book is a fantastic read and I highly recommend it.
I can't wait for the next book in this series! The creative and absorbing plot and the cleverly written characters handle time travel and its dangers with grace and grit. No graphic sex or violence to take away from the story, either. Well done!
I've thoroughly enjoyed the Cate Kensie series. Great characters including her two pups. Very absorbing storyline and a page-turner. Love how history, mystery and time travel are blended. I'm anxious for the next book due out in '22.
TRIGGER WARNING: Buried alive. I’m giving this 4th book in the Cate Kensie series 4 stars even though the story was stretched out soooo long with Cate’s nightmares I was a (huge) sigh away from just quitting the book. Liz Gentle is an excellent narrator as far as putting life and emotion into the book, but her voice is just too old for the stories characters and she is British.
The Cate Kenzie series never disappoints. Wonderful characters, a mysterious castle, dogs, mystery and suspense. Danger at Dunhaven Castle grabbed me from page one and I found it difficult to put down. I can’t wait for the next book!!!
Book four in this series and this book has many surprises. Cate is having nightmares an evil man is after her and she has to go back in time to the 1700s to find out who the man is Kate and Jack meet more time travelers and relatives and Cate is in danger. Will she be rescued in time ? Also there is a crossover from another series making the book more fun
Cate and Jack really immersed into the time travel in this epic mystery. With th addition of warlocks and I’m not sure what to call them and leading into another series. Very clever
I loved these. Can't wait for book 5. Book 4 reminded me of one of the previous ones, to a degree, but was still interesting. I really enjoyed them all.. The characters are all fascinating in their own way.
I do NOT like when stories introduce magic late in the game. I feel like it breaks the rules of the world. And especially when it is introduced as late as the fourth book of a series, I feel like it's a cheap move.
The book has some good, entertaining parts. But adding magic irrevocably changes the tone of the series. While the first books seemed more like science fiction with a strong dose of history, now the answer to anything can just be "it's magic."

This was a fun book. There are some subtle references to Dark Shadows. HOWEVER, the ending has a HUGE deus ex machina resolution that will have you wondering if you are reading the same book. I think the author tried to cram too much into one book.
I bought this audio book as a bargain offer, and was bored silly. Possibly because this is not the first in the series...but I was underwhelmed and then some.
Cate was a very human character. She cried, she was confused, unwilling to believe in magic despite time travel, friendly, and strong in her own ways. I really liked her as a character.
This is not the first book in the series so I was at a disadvantage with it, which I am not holding against the book. The reason it only got 4 stars was that she did nothing to actually solve the mystery.
They went back in time and 'a wizard did it' was all the answer we were given, and then the wizard fixed it. Cate wasn't even in the area while the timepiece was being created/fixed. I was not a fan of that at all. I was reading a mystery I wanted to be part of the solution.
This book was not a murder mystery. It was about the time warps malfunctioning and the potential to trap anyone in the castle in the past. Cate and Jake time travel to the beginning, Cate's ancestor who invented the time jump timepiece. This was a very interesting book. It answered a lot of questions about how all the time jumping started. It introduced a very bad guy who was after Cate. And it introduced some crossover characters from another series, the Shadow Slayers, which I had to immediately go and buy. Great book.
This was more mysterious than book #3, but the introduction of “supernatural” characters was a bit strange. I guess we’ll see where Nellie Steele takes this in book #5.
I listened to the audiobook from the library. In this mystery time travel novel, Cate discovers the journals of the castle’s builder. She uses a decoder to decipher the messages within. Recommended.
Danger at Rings an Castle:A cozy time travel mystery book 4
There is a lot of intrigue and mystery and some sci first depending on your beliefs. Fast moving don't want to put down and can't wait to start the next one.
I love this book. The whole series is wonderful once you get past book one and the background information, but this was the best of the bunch and I would give it six stars It was so good. Highly recommend.
Cate and Jack are used to the time anomalies in the castle, and know that certain places take them to different years in the castle's history. But now, there seem to be additional time rips forming and they need help to find out why.
The Author is extremely talented. She has made the people in the book come alive. It is like you have known them for years. I have enjoyed reading her books. This book gives away some of the mysteries that have been happening. Keep reading!
A new wrinkle has hit Dunhaven Castle and it is up to Cate to solve it while trying to keep the Secret secret! Lots of mystery, new characters, and even more romantic tension. Enjoy!
