When Tiffany took her five-years-old twins to the playground, all she thought she would bring home with her was two messy kids. It never occurred to her that a message would be delivered to her in the most bizarre way.Now to keep her family safe, she must follow instructions that might be fatal to her, and in the process, she would uncover things about a past she didn’t know she had!
The first 75% of the book were really boring I didn’t got much information what was happening and why. The writing was really confusing to me because of the authors pov with multiple timlines and characters. The last 25% were good the plot finally got together even tho I wished it would have been more details about this demon (I guess it is one, it’s not explained what the creature is) why it came to this town or how it came to live or anything actually. I would have loved to read Dorothy’s diary or at least parts of it! The ending was really quick and not statisfying enough for my liking
What a quick delightful story! Lots of plots and twist. I finished it quickly because I just wanted to get to the end and figure out what the heck was going on!
I would have loved to see the climax scene to have more description. It was a lot of dialog and felt rushed but all the loose ends were tied up and I would def read another book from this author!
Shoutout to @booktasters_ for giving me a chance to review this ebook!
To start off, this book was all over the place. I didn’t have a chance to get attached to any of the characters because page 4 immediately reveals the plot. It was a nice fast read but I wasn’t a huge fan of this book.
/I was provided a free e-book to review this book as part of the @BookTasters program/
Okay I admit that a thriller based on the concept of tag did not sound that exciting to me, but I thought this was pretty good! Honestly I feel like calling this an adult tag book is selling it short! The tag concept is clever and ties back in at the end without making it weird.
It was a quick read, and I really got into it about a quarter of the way in. At the beginning, you don’t really get much intro to the MC before she's whisked into the action. I do wish we could be given a little more to connect to her with early on, but it seems designed that way which gets more obvious as you get further into it.
There is a lot to do with discovering old town secrets, and the entire time I was wondering what big secret all the small secrets were leading to. I liked the time jumps in the book, I thought they were well-placed and not confusing. There was just enough paranormal thriller in this to be creepy but not too scary. Without revealing too much, the reason for the paranormal activity's existence is not fully explored, but I think that might be common for novellas. It didn't detract from the story, but it would have made the ending slightly more satisfying.
Remember years ago (just a few years for some, many for me) playing the game of tag? We used to say, "You're it!" when we tagged somebody, although we never really explained what "it" was. This story, by Mona Almoalla, is an updated, life threatening game of tag, involving two women separated by 45 years. Dorothy, in 1974, and Tiffany, in 2019, are similarly "tagged" by an unidentified assailant, and each is tasked with a dubious mission which is only explained a segment at a time. The alternative is to risk physical harm or death to the family members of these two ladies. The action takes place in the town of Crownswell, and the two "tagged" investigators run into a collection of clues, among them a series of 35-year-old women who are victims of accidents, a woman who repeatedly paints a picture of the same lake, a collection of similar rings, and a connection between the founding families of Crownswell.
I might have preferred a description of the reactions of the family members of the two women left behind; it would have fleshed out the story. Still, without revealing too much, if you take a look at this book, you might find yourself "tagged" by an interesting tale.
The premise of the book is interesting and from the start itself, it promises to be a fast-reading thriller. Tiffany, a mother of twin girls gets a strange message in the most bizarre manner and is suddenly forced to leave home for a mission, the details of which are yet unknown. Will she even return alive back home? Tiffany has been sent on a mission but she's not going down without a fight. She starts investigating and the book is all about the past that she never knew about coming to face her. The book runs two parallel POVs. One from 1974 and one from current time and the two complement each other. New revelations of one era helping to build the events in the other. On the negative side, the book could perhaps have been made a bit longer as currently it is too short and due to this the sheer number of characters and their names and the time they belonged to seems like a lot of hard work to remember.
Oh my! This book had me locked in from beginning to end. I read it in a day and a half (could have been a day but I was taking a break from my detective duties lol)
What do you do when "You're it"
What does that even mean? When you try to cover up history to protect hour family and realize you needed that person to save everyone.
Tiffany was just living here life until.she was tagged and things changed. Being on the hunt to figure out who what and where and you find out things about your family.
I don't want to spill the entire story but it was a quick read and I recommend it.
I found this quite spooky. There were two timelines, and I was interested to see how the characters in those two timelines might be connected. I felt that the characters ended up in some bizarre scenarios, but I was interested to find out what might happen to them next. It occurred to me that some of the odd scenarios in this book may resemble something from a far-fetched horror film, but I think that was the entertaining element of it. It was an easy read, and it had me turning the pages quickly.
It was fast reading for me. because most of the book nothing interesting happens or is predictable. When the main protagonist faces a threat she uncovers a past secret which she doesn't know until then.
Her two children and whole family is in danger. Solution to this is she has to follow the instructions.
Last 20% reading was so good that I forgot I was struggling to read it till then. If author manages to keep readers engaged she can write more good books.
At first, I thought it was someone controlling people like a hacker or something, but it was way more than that. Tiffany and Dorothy are 45 years apart but are investigating the same mystery about women dying when they reach 35 years old.
At each chapter, I discovered something that made me create a new theory every 10 minutes. The writing is so fluid, I couldn't stop reading!
