He is an alpha predator, feared by all life on the planet Challenger. His pincers can crush steel, his razor-sharp mandibles can shred a hundred pounds of flesh in seconds, and his armor carapace is capable of deflecting anti-tank projectiles. His place in the ecosystem is reflected in his Caesar.
A beast of incredible size, he has a major appetite to satisfy. And now, he has a new item on the humans.
When Corporal Richard Carson and his team entered cryosleep, they did not expect to awaken in two days for a whole new mission. An island research facility on the ocean planet Challenger has gone dark. Efforts to make radio contact have been unsuccessful.
When Carson and his team set down on the planet, they find the place in ruins. The radio tower has collapsed, the research station ripped open, the surviving staff in hiding.
As seismic activity shakes the side of the planet, the truth reveals itself. A pack of giant alien crustaceans, led by the gargantuan Caesar, storm the island. Following a devastating attack, the marines take defensive position in the remains of the station.
With their numbers depleted, their dropship destroyed, and no means of radioing for help, they are left with no choice but to fight Caesar and his pack of killer crabs.

CAESAR by Michael Cole is great it honestly reminded me of another one of his books I liked Crab Attack except in space. The overall story flows really well and is never dull. The characters are amazingly written in this. I really enjoyed how complex the Corporal and the Dr. were. The crabs were def ferocious in this but I liked how there were other deadly creatures lurking about. Also naming the crabs was a great and fun idea really helping give them more character. I really do recommend this fun little adventure from Cole to anyone.
Great action and very good story telling. Very engaging and well fleshed out characters. The few spelling errors that somehow made it through the editing process are distracting, but don't hurt the story too much. I'd respectfully suggest a through edit and re-release, but that's just me. A good read.
After a costly mistake and the end of deployment rotation, Corporal Richard Carson is in cryosleep on the way home to face the consequences. After a distress call causes him and his team to be woken, they soon find themselves on a planet breaking apart, with some interesting sea life. Good story that moves at a nice pace, with some interesting solutions.
I went in with high hopes but came out feeling a bit underwhelmed. The premise was strong, but it felt like it ran out of steam midway through. The pacing was slow, and I struggled to stay engaged. The ending was somewhat predictable, though still enjoyable. It’s okay, but not as exciting as I anticipated.
There were some things I really liked about this, but overall it felt a bit uneven. The story had a lot of promise, but some parts felt forced. It didn’t quite deliver the emotional impact I was expecting. Still, there were some great lines and memorable moments. Worth reading, but not unforgettable.
A very interesting plot with good character development. Some of the action might be a little graphic for some . Overall, this is the best "crab" type book I've read to date. I would highly recommend it.
This is was a different type of monster book. The humans had to really modify because their weapons did not work. They used other monsters against each other so it was unique and difficult when tech doesn’t work as well.
Space Is dangerous and the lack of redundancy of a future space exp-planet station was shown has there was only one raft, one commication relay on a water world. The story was a bad blend of Starship Troopers and The Deep.
I wish I could say I loved this story. I mostly liked it. Characters were standard stero type. The location was unique, though as it was an exploratory mission, it was mostly barebones. Marines arrive to rescue, and it's (GAME OVER MAN GAME OVER)
An emotional rollercoaster in the best way possible! The story is both heartwarming and heartbreaking, with beautifully crafted characters. The writing flows so effortlessly, making it a joy to read. I felt completely immersed in the world the author created. Highly recommended!
This turned out to be an enjoyable novel! It won’t win a Pulitzer but it will keep you entertained for a few hours :-). No typos that I noticed and it flowed
With his usual strong, believable characters, exceptionally imaginative storytelling, and the cleanest text so far, I have to say I enjoyed this book more than any other to date.
I found this story very textbook big monster stuff. The characters were dull and lifeless, and it played out exactly like every other monster book/movie.
