Amber Last-Name-Redacted was perfectly content living alone in her cabin on Lake Ontario. After all, her BOB satisfied her more than her ex ever did, not to mention dating as a forty-something divorcee is not as exciting as it sounds.
When a bright light crashes into Amber's isolated life, she can't help but investigate, only to find at the source of it all a hot, six foot two, purple scaled alien. Taking a strange being into your cabin certainly isn't boring, especially with the AARO chasing down the spaceman of her dreams.
Time is ticking on Amber's resurrected love life. Will she claim Q’on for her own, or will the government goons win in this epic game of cat and mouse?

AJ Mullican is a queer, neurospicy, multi-genre romance author who writes across a wide spectrum of tropes and romantic pairings. AJ loves love in all its varied forms, which is reflected in her writing. AJ firmly believes that “Variety in spice is life.” From “traditional” MF romance to queer and poly romantic pairings, throuples, quads (you get the idea!) there’s something for everyone in her work.
When she isn’t writing, AJ enjoys playing Final Fantasy XIV online and dabbling in sewing and resin crafting. She lives in southern Arizona with her husband and three cats, Rory, River, and Missy.
Amber is just trying to live her life and regain her footing after divorce. She never thought her husband would cheat on her but he sure did and it was ugly. She got their cabin in the woods and some alimony. That’s it. Not the dog. Not most of her friends. But at least she’s rid of him and able to work from home. But what happens when there’s an unexpected interruption in the form of flashing lights, loud sounds, and the splashing of water from the deck? Or a muscular purple hued form that comes out of said water and onto her deck? Will she survive this encounter? Will she be safe from this encounter?
This story was a fun and often funny journey to follow. The use of the Xalan technology allowed for easier translation but with different meanings behind the nuances of the English language often led to some very funny moments. I enjoyed watching the two main characters learning each other personally as well as each of their worlds. I really enjoyed this story and finished it within a day. I can’t wait to read more within this universe.
This was my first exploration into alien romance, and my gosh I did not need a new genre to add to the never ending TBR. Did I stay up till 2am reading it? Yes. Did I run to check for when the sequel comes out? Yes. Do I think you should read it? OHHH YEAH
Hot, protective, MMC who eagerly reads steamy romance.....sign me right up. After Q’on literally crash lands right into Amber's back yard, she does what any sane person would do and freaks out. But after that initial response, oh man does this book deliver!
So if you like a strong independent FMC, forced proximity, aliens, "big scary" organisation and all the spice, this is the book for you!
A divorced woman trying to live her life her way, and a crashed tall, hot, six foot two purple alien being thrown into her world equals one funny and spicy read. What's Amber to do, but embrace the wild ride she is about to go one when Q'on crashes into her lake outside her house. They have a connection , but the language barrier brings on such a hilarious time between the two I laughed throughout the whole book. Loved the healing of the fmc from her past throughout this story has well. It was a nice balance throughout the story.
This book is all about finding the humor in earth’s weirdness by experiencing it through the eyes of a crash-landed alien in exile from his home planet. Among other things, our MMC gets introduced to TV, video games, smutty romances, and hamburgers. The FMC is a 45 year old divorcee who lives alone in the wilderness until the insta-love of her life jumps out of the nearest lake and into her bed. Lots of spicy scenes, a little bit of a secret government agency B-plot.
This book is alien, sci-fi spicy romance, 18+ and has trigger warnings for readers. I enjoyed this book and received a copy in exchange for my honest review. I loved the witty banter between Amber and Q'on with their language barrier. It was nice to see the FMC overcome her past relationship trauma and embrace her new lover. I like this universe and look forward to reading more.
If you have ever dreamed of a hot alien crash landing in your backyard and having his way with you, then this story is for you. The spice level is high as Amber and Q’on fall for each other. There is also a lot of humor and awkwardness which was fun. There is some plot thrown in for good measure but mostly it’s just an alien love story. Can’t wait for book 2!
This was a quick and enjoyable read. Q’on crash lands in Ambers backyard and the attraction is immediate. With a government agency hot on their trail and a pesky ex-husband to handle, they’ve got their hands full. The spice is solid and he comes equipped with multiple appendages. There’s a good balance of humor and healing, making it a fun experience.
Amber is a 40 something divorcee is just trying to live in her newly single life after finding her husband cheating on her with her best friend and her best friends sister. She lost a lot in the divorce but this little cabin on the lake. Then a hot 6 foot 2 alien crash lands into her newly quiet life and everything changes. Good quick read. Not my usual trope but I love anything AJ writes.
The writing was cringey and wtf was with the weird Holocaust moment? I get that the alien male lead doesn’t know anything about earth. But what was the point of writing about him turning on the tv and watching something about Hitler and laughing? That was a super weird and conscious choice of the author that didn’t contribute anything to the story.
I enjoyed this short novella Q’on crash lands in Ambers backyard and the chemistry is immediate. With a government agency hot on their trail and a nasty ex-husband to handle, they’ve got their hands full. The steamy scenes are good and he comes equipped with multiple appendages. The author found a good balance between humor and steam with some healing .
This was the first “alien” focused romance I’ve read & was not disappointed. The language barrier between them made me giggle when he took some things so literally. Q’on was also like an energizer bunny when it came to their extracurricular activities lol
This was a great story, I enjoyed reading it very much. There was a good amount of info about Q’on and his world without over doing it. And getting to see Amber slowly over come her trauma was beautiful.
Holy spicy deliciousness. I didn’t fully vibe with the storyline but that is on a personal level. I loved how devoted he was to his mate and how patient she was teaching him about Earth’s nuances. Definitely a nice quick read and will try more of this author’s work.
This is the first alien focused story I've read and it didn't disappoint. I loved reading about Amber and Q'ons relationship. Q'ons helps revive amber after her previous relationship and watching the dynamic between these 2 is off the charts. Loved it.
This was a good alien romance read that I really enjoyed reading. The storyline kept me hooked between Amber and Q'on and the difficulties they face like the language barrier. Q'on was a really good guy who brought Amber out of her shell from her past traumas with men. Great read
I seriously love it when a book is spicy and funny. It had me hooked and laughed my butt off. It was a really well written story that keeps you enthralled til the end and I can't wait until the next one.
One of the first alien romance books I've read in a long time but it was so amazing! It had kidnapping, federal agents, St3@my s3xy times, double the fun P33ns, rescuers, and twist and turns as well. The author did a good job getting your attention and not letting it go until The End!
A funny, spicy and thoroughly entertaining alien romance. Amber and Q’on were sweet together. Drama filled and so enjoyable, this also had some trauma for Amber as she deals with her ex husband. I loved this story.
This alien story does not disappoint with all the twists and turns that come about in the story. I loved that they did whatever it took to show to everyone that they belonged together and that no one was able to break their bond.
This is a scifi alien romance following Amber and X'on. Reading their dynamic was really fun, they have witty banter and an amazing connection. Their story is fun and sweet and a story of healing.
I had to skip a large portion of this book, and even in doing so.. I didn't miss much. Unfortunately, I think this would have worked much better as a short story.
A wild short story of Amber, a woman living in the wilderness, and an alien “invader” Q’on. The relationship that develops is at times funny, and times spicy hot. Twists come in the form of Amber’s ex-husband (and his tag-along friend), a rogue military group of alien chasers, and Q’on’s rescuing friends. The end of the story seems a bit implausible, but very hopeful.

This was a fun alien romance that had me hooked right away. I loved Q'on and Amber. His struggle with the language barrier and taking things a little too literally made for some cure moments. I loved how he was able to slowing bring her out of the trauma of her ex leaving her. I enjoyed meeting some of the other aliens and I am looking forward to more stories from this world.
