Aubrey Jackson ran, and ran far after a horrible tragedy that happened in Texas as a teenager. Moving to London to attend school she returns to the states after her father dies. Taking over his company, she's committed to succeeding. She isn't interested in a relationship, wanting to settle into her new life before even dating. But Ian Bradson saw her, and he had to have her. Unable to control the chemistry between them, Aubrey gives in to the one thing she swore not to do. There chemistry keeps them coming back to each other, and Ian is on cloud nine. But then Aubrey's past is thrown at them in the most unexpected way. Aubrey shuts down, and Ian is afraid he will lose her. And that is simply not an option.
I'm Amie Nichols, and this is my bio. I live in Iowa with my amazing, supportive husband. He is my rock and my king, and treats me like all woman should be treated. (Like a spoiled Queen) I have two miniature dachshund's that are my babies, and they love to keep me company when I am writing away on my next WIP. I'm about to publish my 6th book, and can hardly believe how my life has changed. I'm called an author, and still can't believe it. I've have met some amazing woman on my journey so far, and have learned so much. (Sometimes the hard way.) I've been like a sponge soaking up all the information I can on how the publishing world works. It's been a rollercoaster ride so far with its ups and its downs. No matter what, I will never regret anything I've done. You can't succeed if you don't try, and if you don't try you won't succeed. One of my favorite quotes "If the dream is big enough the facts don't matter". Some other info about me, I love my family, friends, wine and anything caffeinated. I also love writing HEA. For the same reason I won't watch a movie that I know will make me cry, (with the exception of Steel Magnolias) I will never write a book without a HEA. There might be a few twists and turns, a cliffhanger or two. But ultimately my stories will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. For me, reading is entertainment, a way to escape this crazy insane world. If a book leaves me feeling sad, mad or gut wrenched, it is not for me. There is enough gut-wrenching sadness in this world, I don't need to read about it too. I started writing 3 years ago, and have no plans on stopping. So keep your eye on me because with the help of some amazing people and my wonderful fans, this girl is going to be on the New York Times best selling list someday.
This story is short you can finish it easily in one sitting. I liked the layout of the story the author does a good job letting us know when the characters are think in their heads and when out loud. The sex scenes are really steamy and hot. You will be fanning your face in no time. Aubrey's new owner of the worlds hottest hotels. Now that she has inherited the family biz, she has to put on her big girl panties and kick some ass in the board room while having to deal with her gold digging step-mother. Ian is in security and is looking to land his next big job. Now me for one I want to know who gave the author her inspiration for his character because Ian does it for me. LOL Then you have Rex who is a pro-football player OMG can this get any better! I love how he calls Aubrey "baby girl" (swoon) Aubrey's best girlfriend Mags is funny as shit I love how she pushes Aubrey out of her comfort zone. If your the kind of reader that like romance and dirty talk ( who don't like dirty talk ) I think you will like this book a lot. I for cant wait to find out what happens next with the way the author left us hanging at the end. (im dying to find out)
Sometimes a look is all it takes. Sometimes words cannot express, cannot describe the spark between two people, the deep connection that instantly forms when their eyes meet. It is impulsive and breath-taking. It is passionate and overwhelming. But is it worth it?
Audrey just inherited her estranged father's multi-billion-worth inheritance, including luxury hotels all over the world. She has to prove herself to a near-hostile board who doesn't know her, and she decided to close her legs and keep her mind open only for business. Ian however has other plans, sweeping her off her feet with just his deep blue gaze and his deeper reach into her body and soul. Do their professional lives allow for passion to grow? Or will it be smothered by the things they left untold?
This was not a bad read. I really enjoyed the inner dialogues of the characters, it is a writing choice I practice myself, and allows me insight into their minds and psyches. I also enjoyed the plot so far, the side-line personas as well as the under the sheets encounters (though as always, they are vanilla for my tastes). I also applauded the portrayal of the jealousy most of us feel even with a new partner, and the author's preference to show them raw instead of hiding them behind facades of "oh this is not appropriate".
However, the description of the book is misleading. Aubrey's past is not thrown at them in the most unexpected way. A 1-page reference at the end of the book DOES NOT constitute enough reason to even be mentioned in the book's summary. I was majorly pissed off to realize not only does the plot twist take its sweet little time to appear, the book actually ends IMMEDIATELY after. Not a chapter later, not a few pages later, literally at the end of that conversation.
I reserve a special kind of contempt for people who write an average sized novel and then break it down to smaller segments, publishing them as individual books, just to make more money. There was absolutely no reason for Deep Blue Impact to be so short, especially since the next book, Deep Blue Hold, is even shorter. This whole series is barely 300 pages long, and breaking it down into 3 books is really bad form.
There’s nothing I hate more with books, than low-rating one; however, what good are reviews if they aren’t honest?
The story: I like serials, so I took a chance and bought the full bundle. This is a three part serial, so this installment was obviously fairly short. It is told in dual POV by Aubrey and Ian. The blurb is very misleading since the "tragedy" is not disclosed in part one. There is a cliffhanger at the very end, but the actual tragedy is not explained. The story started out with a bit of promise but then quickly turned into insta-love / insta-f*ck. That's what the majority of the story was: sex (basically two complete strangers, some of it unprotected). There are still two parts left in the serial that could have been used for the sexual relationship, and part one could have had more plot and some actual character development. Unfortunately sex is the main core of part one. There was only one likeable character--Ethan, Aubrey's personal concierge. Also, in this short novella, the phrase "deep blues" was used 21 TIMES - gag. Overall, the story felt like a bad knock-off of something I've already read a dozen times, minus an actual plot.
The writing: With more people self- and indie-publishing, I've come to be fairly forgiving and accepting of less than stellar editing. Having read some very poorly edited books, this may be the worst case I've come across of all things that can go wrong. Aside from just simply being oddly worded and poorly written, all of the other editing errors are covered: typos, spelling errors, word misuse, etc. The writing was so bad that despite part one ending on a cliffhanger, I don't plan to continue the serial (and I have the full volume in paperback). I guess I'll never know what the big tragedy was! My recommendation to other readers would be to download part one for free, and go from there. Keep in mind that if you're buying a book, it should be complete/finished. An unedited book is not what I consider a complete book.
Aubrey has just been handed the world. Her rich estranged father has left her everything he ever owned. She now owns several large hotels, houses, businesses and has more money than she will ever be able to spend. She knows what she has to do and is focused and not willing to let anything get in the way of that.
Rex is Aubrey's best friend and her ex boyfriend, he also just happens to be the Denver Bronco's most eligible bachelor. Rex and Aubrey have a bond that cant be broken, they also hold a secret that could break them both.
Ian runs a security company. He lives and breathes his job. When he needs to he has a one night stand to get what he needs. He isn't looking for anything else, that is until Aubrey catches his eye in the bar of the hotel he is staying at. When Aubrey brushes off Ian's advances he wants her more than ever.
This was an awesome book. It is steamy, hot. The chemistry between the characters is electric. It is a novella so it is very short, but it will keep you wanting to know what happens next. The author does a great job at making the story flow well, the relationships between the characters is explained so well you can feel their emotions. I couldn't put the book down. It does end in a cliffhanger, I cant wait to read the next two books in this series.
This is so poorly written that I'm not sure I can write a dignified review.
There are such better novella/serial writers out there... this author is not one of them. There was clearly no re-reading of this manuscript before publishing or this author doesn't know how to write... or both. Word choice is questionable, each character is somehow larger than life, but shallow. And there were way too many instances of Ian's "deep blues". It was so annoying.
I rarely give one star, because I used to think that I should reward people for at least making the attempt... but even the plot isn't strong enough to make up for the piss-poor writing. I'm a romance novel addict, especially those from independent authors. She should go back to the drawing board.
I can't determine what's redeeming here. Don't buy this.
Deep Blue Impact is the first episode in the Deep Blue Series by Amie Nichols. I am super disappointed. This is such a great plot and potentially terrific characters, but the grammar and editing are horrific. I read my copy directly off of the Amazon cloud, so I am certain that I have read the most up to date version. I want to know the ending, but not badly enough to endure the struggle, and certainly not enough to spend more money.
I don't read many trilogies but I took a chance on this one and I'm glad I did!!! Aubrey and Ian have instant chemistry and they sizzle on the pages. Ian owns a security company that Aubrey just hired to look after the company she just inherited from her now deceased father, and Ian personally takes on Aubrey's security as well. Aubrey's past comes back to haunt her and Ian tries to help her...can't wait for book two to make it to my Kindle!!!!
YOU DID NOT JUST END THE BOOK LIKE THAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know it is sick to love a cliffhanger but I do !! It was very easy to get into this book because you know right from their 1st meet these 2 characters are going to have some hot chemistry !! And they do not disappoint !! It is not just about hot sex there is also a storyline here that you just want to know about so bad so you cannot put it down in hopes to find your answer.
Aubrey shares a little of her past and I honestly loved her from the start !! Good for her getting hers and love that Rex was on board as well !! Too funny !!
Their friendship is endearing and you also need to know why it is that way...what the heck happened to form that bond...what is she not telling us........... AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Ian is obviously HOT and has money....but he also has a huge heart and is so smitten you just cant help but smile and be smitten with him !!
I knew from the start this was a short book but I got soooooo wrapped up in finding out the details that I totally did not expect the end to smack me in the face like it did !! DAMN !!!!!!!!!
This is a 3 book novella series that I was lucky enough to get a copy of them for an honest review.
Right from the get go you are pulled into this story and it's characters, its funny, loving, and god damn sexy. Aubrey has inherited her dad's luxury hotels and now has a multi billion dollar company to run. She meets Ian in the bar one night before her first board meeting as CEO and you can feel the chemistry coming off the pages. She has a crazy gold digging step mother who feels cheated that she go nothing from her husband, her best friend Rex a pro football player, and Mags her best girlfriend and they all compliment each other you fall in love with all of them.
Ian is in security and is now in charge of the hotels but as he and Aubrey get closer to each other but then something and someone from Aubrey's past and she wants to run but Ian won't her his ends in a bit of a cliffhanger things move fast but sometimes that's what life throws us, I really enjoyed this book and couldn't wait to start book 2.
Let me start off by saying you HAVE to read this entire series. I was able to read it in one day and LOVED it! I couldn't put it down and so glad that I didn't.
I loved the characters, well most of them. Some I wanted to kill as soon as I met them.
Aubrey is a strong female, she has had a pretty tough life, never knowing her father. Once he passes away her entire life changes and she become the owner of a lot of hotel properties and top businesses. Her father thought he did what was best. However good things are not always as they appear.
Ian is the owner of a Security Business located in North Carolina, and damn does the wonderful North Carolina beaches do wonders for his appearance ;) He is tall, tan and built very nicely. He does everything he can to make Aubrey his and she is stubborn, not falling too easily for him...
I recommend this book if you are into Romance Thrillers :)
This is brilliant for quick read, it can be read in one sitting which I always find quite refreshing after reading a lot of long books. The fact that its quite short doesn't take away from the story any, its actually told really well by the author. Ladies, if you like a possessive alpha male then this book is for you! And actually the female lead, Aubrey is quite a head-strong young woman, not the weak-willed women that usually come with the alpha-male types. I really enjoyed this, I'm going to get straight on to book two in the series, Deep Blue Hold. My only gripe with this story would be that the male lead is named Ian Brady. I found it hard to get on board with the drop-dead gorgeous male character being named that, it's not a name I would have chosen what with the connotations that name usually brings forth.
I received a gift copy from the Author in exchange for an honest review.
Wow. I mean wow. Where do I begin? There are three guys in this book and I think I'm in love with all three!
So lets start with Rex. Speechless.
Ethan. Sweetheart and so resourceful yet, I find myself a bit suspicious about him.
Ian. Ian Brady. He is amazing, everything is so right about him.
I am so conflicted! I love Ian I do, but a part of me loves Rex too.
Now for Aubrey. She is fabulous I love her go get it attitude, I like how she can access the situation and it's possible outcome but still have the reserve to walk away or straight into it. I read this book in one sitting I could NOT put it down, and when I reached the end. OMG! Needless to say hurry go grab your copy!
An introductory novella introducing Ian and Aubrey, who have an immediate attraction. Aubrey has inherited her late father's estates and assets and Ian is part of the security team she has hired. Aubrey is a target because of her newfound wealth. Rex Is also a part of the story and he and Aubrey's friendship is very special. Aubrey has a very independent personality and is used to being on her own but is now taking some liberties to enjoy life with her newfound leadership. Ian has only just met her and he's not really one to fall for women but Aubrey surrenders his defenses and he's alpha to the core. Now he just has to get to the bottom of Aubrey's secrets because as spirited as she is, she's also lost on the inside. It will be interesting to see what happens next.
**** Reviewed at the request of the author for Eye Candy Bookstore **** I loved this story. It seemed like a mix of Fifty Shades with a sprinkle of Blackstone Affair and a few dashes of some other great books but laid out on its own individual story. I loved Aubrey, found Ian super hot and can't stop picturing Rex naked....lol! I'm anxious to crack the next part of this three book story and see where it leads. Loved it, cliffhanger and all.
I received this book as a gift in a boxed set. What a sexy, funny and engaging story with some serious moments and depressing twists. I really enjoyed watching the interaction between Aubrey and Ian from the moment they first meet in a hotel bar...until they come face to face in a boardroom...and then start a whirlwind of an erotic relationship. An awesome start to what looks to be a sexy series with some mystery and suspense.
I enjoyed this story and I loved the characters and how they met. I'm a fan of the instant attraction and could feel it between these two and obviously it developed quickly with some great sex scenes. The tragedy isn't revealed in the first book but it's worth the wait to find out. My big complaint would be the amount of grammatical errors and mistakes which I really hate. I'm looking forward to reading the next instalment.
A nice short romance/erotica that will have you wanting more. Aubrey has inherited a lot of money and businesses, with this she has to travel. Along the way she meets Ian, a very sexy business man with very deep blue eyes! Love hits but Aubrey is not wanting a relationship, Ian is determined to get his girl though! A great story with a good lay out. Definitely would recommend
I can't remember who recommended me the book or where have I seen it. All I know is that I am glad I did it. The book was awesome, I really like the storyline and the characters. I like woman with power. I always want my men jealous. The author had me trapped and captivated. I could not put the book down, I love all the stuff she is not telling us, I need to read the next book in the series.
This was a great book my only complaint was it was a novella. I loved that characters and I really enjoyed that the female lead was a strong woman not the normal whiny broke ones that we read about. The story held my attention from start to finish and even made me one click the next in the series.
I won the series and all I can say is WOW! This is not your typical millionaire meets so and so they have hot steamy sex and then live happily ever after. Though the sex is steamy, hot, and fully charged there are twists and turns to what Ian or Aubrey want.
I thought this was a great short read. Loved the characters and the story line, not to mention the ending!!! The sex was HOT!! which is always a bonus. Consistant story that sort of just sucks you in cos it flows so well. And i LOVED Ethan and Rex. Definitely gonna be reading the other two books.
nice introduction to these to hot couple. Can't wait to see what happens next to these two. A force beyond control brings them together. Just hope they work it out and Aubrey opens up and let's Ian in.
I like how Aubrey starts out as a strong woman. But somehow gets swallowed up by Ian's character. This is a good story and I like the passion they find. Just a weak storyline and a lot of great sex.
