Love Island #1

Hawaiian Holiday

Rate this book
Two weeks in paradise over the holidays with your best friend? Say less.

The only problem?

Isla's bestie didn't make the flight and now she has to spend the holidays completely alone in Hawaii.

Her luck turns when she is seated next to an All-American hottie on the flight to paradise.

Cal is also in need of some company. He thought a family vacation would be great, but he quickly realizes he can only handle so much family bonding. Back at home, he lives a structured, all work, no play life. It’s no surprise that Isla has a way of convincing Cal to do just about anything.

Sparks fly as they spend two weeks exploring the island and their attraction to one another. Isla thinks she can keep it casual and go their separate ways after two weeks together.

Will Isla and Cal be able to return back to their lives after two weeks, or will this holiday hook-up end up as extra baggage on the way home?

Spoiler It definitely ends up as extra baggage.

This was cute and this author absolutely has potential, but for now it’s three stars from me.

Ilsa was about to board a plane to Hawaii when she found out that her bestie, who was supposed to join her, overslept and was not coming. Luckily there was a hot guy on a seat next to her, yaay!😍

The banter and the writing in general could use some polish. It was a little juvenile and trying too hard to be funny at times. This author should cut down on chuckles, there’s someone chuckling on every page 😭 and the mmc could for once say something else than “your wish is my command”. I didn’t love everything about the story (e.g. it was not cool that she called in sick to visit him) and there were a few plot holes but it’s a debut, so I’ll forgive it.

The MCs were likable and it was a very light read with no unnecessary drama and no third-act breakup. Not to mention all the spice, these guys were vacation-level horny 😏

I have a feeling the bestie is going to get her own book and I might check it out.

Cal is top tier book boyfriend material and Isla is hilarious! Together they are sooo cute 🥹. This book has a ton of LOL moments as well as sweet and spicy moments. I loved Isla’s bestie Addie, and their friendship reminded me a lot of me and my bestie! This is a holiday romance but I felt that it wasn’t overwhelmingly christmasy so you could really read it all year long!! I have never been to Hawaii but I definitely want to go after reading this book!

I can’t wait for the second book in this duology!

Hawaiian Holiday was this week's Bookish Girls read, and I thought it was the absolute sweetest! Had I not been reading a second book alongside, I could've definitely devoured this in a day. At only 200-something pages, this was the perfect short, sweet romance I've been craving. It is, primarily, set over Christmas-time, but also being set in Hawaii for its majority, it didn't feel imperative to read over the festive period.

Cal and Isla were incredible! Insta-love isn't usually a trope I enjoy as it can often feel rushed, but their story played out perfectly. Whilst their relationship was initially founded on lust, there was also so much love, care, and adoration to be seen between the pair. They were such funny characters, too - I often found myself laughing out loud at their smart mouths. It was true infatuation and, as a hopeless romantic myself, I could have cried every time they said something sweet to one another.

I loved the writing style, the dual-POV, and the banter between characters. I cannot wait for the second book in the duology.

I am now a certified Elle Jordan fan😌🫡. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a cutesy insta-love, quick read.

Addie missed their flight, so Isla is on her own to adventure the island of Oahu. Who knew you could meet the love of your life on a two week vacation to Hawaii? Isla & Cal are such a cute, unexpected couple. Cal is the epitome of “if he wanted to he would” and I love it! The competition and banter between them is great and so is the spice. The ode to movies/shows throughout the book brings back some great childhood memories for me. Isla is a food motivated, road rage having FMC. Cal is a workaholic, dirty talking cinnamon roll MMC. I loved Isla & Cal’s story and I think you will too!

Favorite quotes from the book:
🌺 “Arm muscles to women are what cleavage is to men. It’s science.”
🌺 “For the first time in my life, being tied to someone doesn’t feel like I’m being weighed down. It feels incredibly freeing.”

This was a quick and fun read. Isla & Cal had such a free, light and contagious relationship. Their chemistry was not only spicy but so loving and warm. This book was a real palet cleanser for me and I really enjoyed the adventurous spirit it radiated. Isla is an incredibly brave fmc & really came into herself throughout the story. And Cals ability to just go with her flow and support her really added to the dreaminess of his character.

I’m not a big fan of insta-love, but didn’t really mind it much. It did seem rushed in certain places as a whole but tied up nicely towards the end. I really wish we would’ve gotten more on Isla & her parents as well.

My cheeks hurt from smiling so much during this one!

Hawaiian Holiday is such a funny and cute spicy holiday romance. It’s perfect if you’re looking for a quick book to read before the Christmas season is over!

When Isla’s bestie misses her flight to Hawaii, she ends up seated next to Cal who is traveling to Hawaii for his sister’s wedding. Isla and Cal hit it off and decide to spend the next two weeks together to avoid being alone or with boring family. But… like all good romances… tensions run high and things heat up quickly. Can this “fling” make it off the island?

You might like this book if…
+ You’re looking for a quick holiday romance that’s light and easy to read!
+ You like open door spicy books 🌶️
+ You like when the man falls first

PS. This book does NOT have the 80% miscommunication trope or a third act break up! 🎉

4⭐️ I loved this one! I received the arc of the second book in this duology and just knew I’d have to read this one first and I’m so happy I did! The main characters in this one reminded me of me and my boyfriend so much. I had a smile on my face through the whole book! Such a cute and realistic love story.

Thanks so much to Elle and Grey’s Promotions for my ARC copy in exchange for my honest review!

This was such an adorable and fun holiday book! I thought it was easy to read and had a lot of funny moments.

When Isla’s best friend misses the flight to their 2-week Hawaiian holiday vacation, she’s feeling pretty unlucky. Her luck turns around when she sits next to a handsome stranger on the plane and they strike up a romance through the trip. The trouble comes when they have to part ways after New Years, but are they able to?

I thought Isla was so relatable (I also can solve a bad day with wine and chicken nuggets), and she had such a positive outlook on life. Cal was the sweetest love interest and was totally head-over-heels for Isla.

The one thing I wasn’t fully sold on was the timeline. While I can enjoy an insta-love story, this one was just very rushed. The ending could have been more fleshed out, but I loved the epilogue!

Hawaiian Holiday is out Nov 27! ⭐️

My girl Elle was one of the first “bigger” bookstagrams that followed me when I first made my account last November. I remember thinking to myself- what does this girl even see in my lil old insta? From the moment we connected she has been nothing less than welcoming, kind and a lovely human being. When I found out she had a debut novel I moved it wayyyy up my TBR in order to give her the hype she deserves.

We meet Isla as she prepares for a fun girls trip over the holidays- only to find out her bestie can’t make it at the last minute and she has to prepare to spend two weeks by herself in paradise. When she meets a handsome stranger on the plane, Cal, she wonders if fate has brought them together.

As Cal and Isla have another meet cute on the island, they start spending time together and realize there might be more to this connection than a quick fling. An unfortunate but fortunate one bed situation leads to some spice and chemistry that neither of them can deny. As their vacation comes to a close both of them realize this has transpired from a vacation romance to something real.

Seeing Isla come into her own and not only decide to take a leap of faith but take charge of her life and put love first was so sweet. Cal being the love struck fool he was had no chance from his first encounter with Isla. I loved his family and how they stepped up for both Cal and Isla when they needed it. This spicy rom com was the definition of fun and flirty. Isla’s sense of humor and the banter between the two had me swooning one minute and laughing out loud the next.

For being a debut novel….Elle girl this was good. I cannot wait to get to meet Sam and Addie in book two!! I really identified with Addie and can’t wait to see how she whips Sam into shape.

My face hurts from smiling! I LOVED this book, it was such a great and super sweet swoony read! Fun and spicy!!!

The story follows Isla whose best friend missed their flight and now must go on their 2 week Hawaiian vacation alone! But luck is on her side and she ends up sitting next to Cal for the 8 hour flight! They go from strangers to adventure partners who end up having a holiday island fling! Or is it deeper and more lasting?!?!?

Cal is a dirty talking cinnamon roll who likes to be in control of all aspects of his life while Isla is sassy and slightly chaotic. Even though they are total opposites, they really balance each other out and they both fall hard! There is NO third-act breakup and no angst, it has only happy and sweet and mostly light vibes!

🌴 Hawaiian Holiday by Elle Jordan 🌴

Memorable Moments: Ideas:
✨ Adventurous Hikes
🌴 Dangerous Kayaking
✨ Strangers to Lovers
🌴 Broom Closet 🫣
✨ White (Sandy) Christmas

Ok, so being in the middle of a physical book that I can’t easily read at bedtime because lighting (I could invest in a book light OR find a Kindle book to read - potato/tomato), so naturally I needed a holiday ebook to be reading too. 😅 (I admit, I have no shame.)

Isla and Cal feel like they represent the two sides of myself — the one that is in control, overworking, and uptight AND the one that can have fun, let loose, and be carefree. Therefore, both characters are relatable, but also adorable and so well written. Isla’s adventure and “damned do/damned don’t” mentality is everything. I wish I was brave enough to travel alone for as long as she attempted. She is courageous and lives life to the fullest. Cal, on the other hand, is just swoon worthy and one of the top five book boyfriends I’ve read this year. Hands down. The determination and the passion — ugh. So good.

It’s a sweet and spicy story overall, and I love the idea of love being something worth taking a risk on. Also, it’s holiday without the overbearing sweetness that the holidays bring, which I really enjoyed. The hints are subtle, the banter was beautiful, and the food be filling (IYKYK).

Spice: 🌶️.5
Recommend: YES.
Audience: People who love reading about bravely (maybe bordering on stupidly) being in love. People who love wedding crashes. People who think hikes are more than just sweating cardio. Also, anyone with access to the book because it’s damn good.

Hawaiian Holiday by Elle Jordan
🌴🌺🏖️🎄🎅🏼

Main tropes: strangers to lovers, instalove, long distance, one bed, holiday romance
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (3.5/5)

My Thoughts:

Isla is disappointed when her bestie suddenly can’t make it on their planned holiday trip to Hawaii. That is until she meets a guy on the plane and they instantly connect. Next thing they know, they’re running into each other on their resort. Cal wants a little space from his family vacay and starts to spend some time with Isla.

Isla was so relatable and felt like a friend the whole time! When she was gossiping to Addie, it felt like she was talking to me. I liked seeing Cal loosen up and embrace having fun. He was so serious in the start and I loved seeing him come out of his shell and prioritize relationships over work. Isla and Cal had great chemistry and I love the opposites attract vibes. They really balanced each other well.

I didn’t love how fast the timeline was. I wish we had gotten a little more about their long distance relationship and how it developed. It really sped up after only a short time apart. I also would’ve liked a little more about both their families. The book definitely could’ve been a little long to make this work.

Thank you to Elle Jordan and Greys Promo for the ARC of this story.

Isla and Cal. I honestly didn’t think I would like this book but let me tell you something… I LOVE IT!!! A short holiday romance in Hawaii is a dream I could ask for to meet the love of my life like Isla and Callahan did. He fell first when she tackled him on there little hiking trip and they had their first kiss😘 They had a blast with each other in Hawaii for two weeks and OMG Cals sister catching them two in the broom closet on her wedding night party with his pants down and her tits out had my dying laughing😂 When she finally meet his family in Maine she knew she was in love with him and when he went to Colorado to meet her best friend Addie for a Valentine’s Day trip to a cabin it was the final straw that they both sis I love you to each other it was a sweatiest thing ever☺️ Their banter is cute she’s always nervous and starts rambling then he starts talking it’s just too cute. I love all the spice in this book, it’s not too much or too little it’s just the right kind and it’s really dirty🥵 OMGG Cals proposal was too cute in front of the family at Christmas.. God you guys gotta read this book from Elle Jordan this is my first book from her and I’m obsessed I gotta read more LOL.

This was an unexpected delight to read,I didn't know what I was in for when I unfolded the pages, and I was pleasantly surprised.
I do love a holiday fling type of book and reading it in these cold months it is a perfect escape and to be transporeted through words and imagination to somewhere sunny and warm.
This story by Elle Jordan between Isla and Cal was so funny, sweet and with minimum angst, which can be a relief sometimes.
They meet on the plane and proceed to spend their time together for 2 whole weeks while they are there...Isla was there alone after the friend she is supposed to be with missed the flight...Cal was there attending his sister's wedding.
I Love Cal he is so easy to fall in love with he is a bit reserved at first and so sweet and swoony..Isla in some ways is his opposite she is so lively and out there.
They fit perfectly together because they are so comfortable with eachother and bring out the best of one another.
There is so much joy in reading this book it has some hilarious moments and really enjoyed reading it.
Fabulous writing from Elle Jordan.

I absolutely loved this book. The characters were the absolute most fun. They had wonderful personalities and were energetic. Cal was an absolute dream and Isla was a riot. Both of them coming out of their shy shells was an amazing experience.

Isla's best friend stands her up for their Hawaii vacation. This starts her trip off on the wrong foot, but the plane ride changes it all.

Cal is attending his sister's wedding when he meets the most unusual woman. Shy is a word I would use to describe Cal. But when he meets this woman, there is something about her that brings him out of his shell.

These two characters engage in an adventure that will change their lives forever.

This book was so much fun to read. It was a feel good read that made me smile. I enjoyed this book so much. The comedy in it just makes you laugh and the connection the characters have is pure perfection. I truly enjoyed the book and have now added Elle Jordan to my list of must read authors.

Okay, I’m giving this 3.25 stars not because it was bad but because there were too many green flags and too much happiness. I’m sorry but I need some disappointment in a story to make it realistic. This is a FLUFFY book. It has happy Christmas vibes. If you need to feel good and have positive vibes, this is the book for you. It’s also a quick read (if you aren’t reading 3 other books like I am).

I did like Addie and Isla a lot. I think Addie has so much potential and I’m excited to read her book (especially if I can sense a little enemies to lovers vibe)!!! I liked Isla’s independence and spontaneity. I also wanted to get to know Liv more!

I think the long distance relationship portion was rushed. It felt too quick after the holiday. I know the whole vibe of “if it’s meant to be”, but I think that’s where I needed some drama to happen.

Overall, there is potential for these characters, and I can’t wait to see where they’re going!

Hawaiian Holiday by Elle Jordan

Thank you so much Greyspromo and Elle for the ARC! 💕

I loved this book so much! Cal 😍 another book boyfriend added to my list. I loved seeing Cal and Isla’s relationship blossom and they were adorable for each other! And the way Cal talks sometimes……😜 I’ve never been to Hawaii and this book def is making me want to visit 🏝️

About: Isla is supposed to go on vacation with her best friend, but when she doesn’t make it Isla feels like it’s not going to be the best vacation. But that all changes when she sits next to a handsome stranger coming down for his sister’s wedding. Even though they live miles apart, they choose each other in the end 💕

After her Best Friend doesn't show for their Hawaii Holiday trip, Isla is found going on Vacation for Christmas by herself BUT she's definitely not lonely after she meets Cal! After sitting next to each other on the plane and then running into each other on the Island, Isla and Cal are INSEPARABLE! But Vacation is still Vacation what happens when they go back to their real lives after the Holidays??

ARC review -> 3.5 stars out of 5

This was a cute, fun, quick read that will definitely have you in the holiday spirit. I found Isla to be incredibly relatable, fun, and a good type of chaotic. Cal was the opposite of her but really let loose when he got to know her. I really loved seeing the difference between work Cal and vacation Cal. The chemistry between the two was excellently written. Cal and Isla really fit each other's personalities well, I found it to be just the right amount of similarities and differences between them.
I do wish we had a little more background on both Cal and Isla's families (especially Cal's brother), and I liked the instant-love but I do wish the timeline stretched out a little bit more.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to any wanting to get in the holiday spirit.

2.5⭐ Isla's best friend ditched her for their two-week Hawaiian vacation and got seated next to a hottie named Cal. Love the premise of this book but it fell just a little flat for me. I feel as though it could have been shorter. There was a lot of *winking* which I thought was a little odd lol.

I loved the characters and the setting and the idea of a vacation fling turning into more though! Loved how free spirited Isla is and that she was able to help Cal let loose and finally enjoy things. Loved Addie, Isla's best friend. And loved Cal's family!

Isla is newly single, and going on a once in a lifetime holiday to Hawaii over the Christmas period, but is ditched at the airport by her best friend. Deciding she's still going, she befriends her seatmate, Callahan, on the flight over, and they quickly become attracted to one another.

I enjoyed this book, but there wasn't a lot of depth to the characters. It felt very insta love/lust rather than anything deeper, and whilst I found certain parts of it endearing, they didn't really seem to get to know each other as anything more than attraction.

Still, it was a fun read for the holiday season, and I do wish I was on that beach in Hawaii!

This books was such a fun read, I had a lot of LOL moments reading it. Cal and Isla had such a magnetic chemistry, it was undeniable. The MMC Cal is total book boyfriend material, he’s a total cinnamon roll, sweet tender and oh so spicy and the MFC Isla she’s a spit fire, she holds noting back and I loved it. I absolutely loved Isla and Addies friendship, true besties.
That epilogue! It was sheer perfection. Hopefully we will gather a story about Addie, I just love her.
This is a holiday romance but its really one that can be read all year long, I man it takes place on a tropical island.

This standalone, HEA novel makes a perfect holiday read. The characters are engaging, interesting and just quirky enough to make every page fun. The story flows nicely, without any major dramas or angst, which makes makes this a refreshing, feel good change from other novels.
The story, while not quite instalove, definitely has the characters in instant attraction. While engaging, the story and characters are quite shallow, but for a debut novel, is definitely acceptable- I’ve certainly read more experienced authors that I haven’t enjoyed as much.
Looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

I read the second part of this duology, In a Pinch and loved it so much that I had to read this. I went into this book uncertain because I just loved Addie and Sam’s story in In a Pinch so much that I wasn’t sure Isla and Cal could top it. Safe to say, I was pleasantly surprised! I found myself laughing, blushing, and biting my lip while reading about Isla and Cal’s Hawaiian meet cute and cheering them on in hopes for their happy ending. Isla is sassy, fierce and so relatable and I was worried Cal would be too Vanilla for my taste but he was most certainly not. I highly recommend this book to my fellow romance readers!

A fun, funny, and carefree book -- just the type of read I would love on a warm beach with a big umbrella drink. I can't believe that this is the author's first work! With wonderful pacing and a great FMC this was a great get-a-away read! I loved Isla from the moment I opened the book, she is the friend that you have always wanted! This was a solid debut novel for Elle! It was pleasant and cute. I enjoyed the holiday portion of it and I also think that the ending wrapped up very well. Though everything was okay, nothing really stood out to me about this book. The characters were cute but didn’t have a ton of depth and the plot was straightforward and easily predictable. I didn’t get as into the story as I would’ve liked to but it was still a decent read. If you like holiday/vacation reads and the strangers to lovers trope, this just may be for you!
