Secrets will be revealed in this exciting volume of Star Hyperspace Stories, collecting issues #9–#12 of Dark Horse’s flagship All Ages Anthology series!
I liked that this one followed the story of this little doll and its journey from the prequel era to after the destruction of the Death Star. Turns out it’s hiding quite the little secret. This doll would actually make such a fun Easter eggs throughout Star Wars content and the secret inside it would be good for a series of its own honestly. This volume was a lot of fun.
It was a fun read. The Quilan Vos vs Cad Bane was very simple but I really enjoyed the art; The Bad Batch one was a lot of fun and made me want more stories of them in this format; Mace Windu and Yoda was the least impressive for me, perhaps because it's already a well-known dynamic and didn't introduce anything new; finally, the last story was definitely a nice surprise, exploring a background character and create a funny connection with the Battle of Endor, with some emotion thrown in. Also, the outcome for these volumes of Hyperspace Stories was also something unexpected.
"Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories, Volume 3: Light and Shadows" to trzecia i ostatnia część antologii komiksowej od Dark Horse Comics, autorstwa Amandy Deibert, Michaela Moreci i Cecila Castellucciego.
Historia z Quinlanem Vosem i Cad Bane'em, choć prosta, przyciąga uwagę wspaniałymi ilustracjami.
Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories - Light and Shadows delivers another exhilarating volume of galactic adventures in Dark Horse's anthology series. In this thrilling conclusion, the wild and dangerous nature of the Galaxy unfolds through four action-packed tales suitable for all ages. From the Outer Rim, where Jedi like Quinlan Vos, Yoda, and Mace Windu grapple with the fires of the Clone Wars, to the struggles of the Bad Batch clones just trying to navigate their day, the stories are rich in excitement and intrigue. The forest moon of Endor becomes a reflective backdrop as the heroes of the Rebellion reminisce about their greatest triumphs. Throughout this anthology, secrets are unveiled, adding depth to the Star Wars universe. Collecting issues #9–#12 of Dark Horse's flagship All Ages Anthology series, Light and Shadows is a captivating addition to the Hyperspace Stories, offering a diverse range of narratives that celebrate the expansive and timeless appeal of the Star Wars saga.
I was getting a little lukewarm (no pun intended) in the middle of this — the issue with Yoda and Mace Windu feels undercooked and poorly written at the level of dialogue, but the bookends — with the Rebels and new character Evans Basch, as well as Quinlan Vos fighting off Cad Bane — are really solid and beautifully drawn thanks to Brokenshite and Marangon (a reminder that I still need to read Tag and Bink…or maybe I did when they were in Tales…). I do like that these all had a clear thruline with the stuffed wookie toy, as it gave everything just a little bit of amusing interlacing. Anyways, looking forward to snagging a physical copy of the next collected issue from the Pima County Library!
6/10: This final collection of issues manages to be the best of the three while finalizing the story and providing a solid conclusion to the Wookiee doll that has been present in all 12 issues. I am once again, 100%, going to say that this series should’ve released chronologically and my headache would’ve been reduced.
Quinlan Vos, the Bad Batch, Mace Windu, Yoda, and Evans Basch (a character I want MUCH more from) are the focus of these issues and all are full of life and hope for the future. I really appreciate how much they all care about the small joys and loves of life itself despite the wars they’re actively fighting in.
A fun anthology of comics. The one story I liked most is the issue that has both Quinlan Vos and Cad Bane, two of my favorite lesser-characters. The issue about the Bad Batch was fun as well, and like getting more content following them during the Clone Wars. Mace Windu and Yoda's story, as well as the Rebel story set in the OT were just okay. I'd recommend this only if you really enjoy Clone Wars content, specifically with Vos, Cad Bane, or the Bad Batch.
Was not loving this series as it came out. I decided to read it in Chronological order when all issues were released to get the secret 13th story. So glad I did, it helped me appreciate the comic so much better for what it was supposed to be. And beautiful lost and found story across the timeline.
Not a bad volume for the “kids” line of Star Wars books. I enjoyed these stories, especially with the bit of interconnected plot element that tied them all together.
