Leonard Ryzman is the author of several inspirational non-fiction books, including 'Amer I CAN' and 'Make Your Own Rainbow' which has been published in translation throughout Asia. He has also written humorously for magazines, newspapers, theater and radio, as well as covering serious matters such as sport. If you don't think sport is serious, just check out Melbourne, Australia where it is a religion.

When not writing, Ryzman gives entertaining and uplifting keynote addresses at conferences. These are gatherings of people who singly can do nothing, but together are able to decide that nothing can be done. His advice to budding writers and speakers is the same:
"If at first you DO succeed, try not to look astonished." Also,"Don't use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice."

He has interviewed a wide variety of inspiring people from all walks of life,
from whom he has learned some invaluable lessons. He says he learned from Jack Nicholson not to name drop.

His specialty is helping people believe in themselves and convert the negative into positive. Organizations have also engaged his expertise in the use of humor for effective training and speaking.

When starting out, Ryzman had some screenplay ideas for Hollywood, where all things are created sequel. He contacted a major movie studio, telling them what he could do; and they replied, telling him what he could do. In his next phase, he spent time alone in the woods, going places where few had gone before and facing seemingly impossible challenges. Unfortunately, he did all that while playing golf.

Then, one day, he was struck by enlightening. He drew from his experience and research as a non-fiction writer on success and wellbeing, together with his work as a humorist, and delved into the area of 'faction'. The result is his acclaimed book, 'The Laugh Supper', which is a time-defying dialogue of wit and wisdom.

Ryzman believes that if he has been able to give just one person an idea, or make just one reader laugh, then he's in big trouble.

Make Your Own Rainbow: You Need Never Again Be A Victim to Your Feelings by Leonard Ryzman is a self help book covering the concept of Dynamic Emotion. This concept helps you to see and focus on the positive; allowing you to make goals and reach them even though they may seem impossible. Dynamic Emotion also helps you to overcome negative thoughts and thinking. The book is also filled with true inspirational people who demonstrate dynamic emotions.
The book does not outline the theory of Dynamic Emotion very well but it does a great job in describing each part. It had a feeling of not seeing the forest for all the trees; however the parts of this concept were very well described and simple to follow and understand. I really enjoyed the stories that accompanied each concept and made it easy to see in real life. I also learned quite a bit about some famous people like Madam Curry and George Burns through these stories. The parts of the concept are great behavior modification tools and will be a great help to any reader to improve their mood and emotions. I also enjoyed the little drawings that went with this book to explain the concepts.
My favorite part of this book was how to focus on the now instead of the past or future. I tend to have a problem with focusing on the past and getting caught up in it and there’s some great tools I can try to let go of it and focus on what is going on with me and around me in the present. While I think there was more that could be added to the section on GAP and setting goals I thought this was another excellent concept the author covered and something concrete readers can use to achieve what they want. I liked that it is a solid way to achieve something and hold yourself accountable to it. I also enjoyed the stories about failure, how everyone experiences it, and how it can be used to move you along instead of get you caught up.
Overall, I am not sure the book discussed emotions fully. There were a lot of really inspirational stories and things to learn and motivate you, there were a lot of techniques to use to possibly control emotions in the first part of the book but the end was filled with stories about people overcoming obstacles. While some stories alluded to emotions and clearly they were all trying to overcome the defeat emotions they had I am not sure I understand what Dynamic Emotions is as a concept. I have some exercises I can try that appear to be quite helpful and a lot of amazing stories to motivate me but I still just feel the overall picture of dynamic emotions is lacking. Most psychological theories have a premise and there isn’t one hear and the stories are just geared more towards overcoming than controlling emotions.
The book was still a fun read. The stories are fresh and inspirational. The techniques that are used appear to be solid and well established and should be beneficial to a reader looking for self help. The book is well edited and broken into easy to follow segments as well. As far as self help books go, this will certainly be a good read for people looking to be inspired to overcome no matter the obstacles and help them to set goals to accomplish this.

When we focus on negativity, when we worry about things instead of searching for a solution, we loose sight of how much we can do to achieve success and, more importantly, happiness. This is the idea behind this book, where the author explains his ideas about how to use our emotions to gain control of our path and to live a better life.
The most interesting part about this book is that, more than the explanation of ideas, the steps to follow and the way those concepts come to life are explained by example. Telling the stories of many famous people, the author shows a more practical explanation of how to apply those concepts he’s introducing in this book, reflecting them in behaviors or attitudes that opened a path to success. But also interesting is that, although this book presents a lot of tips and strategies to deal with negativity, it never acts upon the idea of an universal similarity. There are points in common and, thus, the author recognizes predictable effects, but he also recognizes t hat everyone is different, even if our problems aren’t so unique as we sometimes think.
Mostly everything in this book is easy to understand, with the concepts and advices being explained in a simple and fluid manner. The hardest part lies with the message itself, because, even if the ideas are useful and make sense, it isn’t easy to imagine a constant positive attitude. This ever present optimism does make sense in the context of the message, but it does seem like something more easily said than done. But, all things considered, the ideas are still interesting and definitely worthy of careful consideration.
Easy to understand, with some sound advice and many good examples, this is a book that introduces an interesting point of view of how our emotions affect the way we live. The sum of all this is, of course, an interesting read.

I received this ebook as a Goodreads giveaway winner. While I enjoyed the book at times, there were problems with it. For instance, the word saloon was used when I think the author meant sedan (there are a number of these). Or the suggestion to send negativity back whence it came. What if the source of it is yourself? Maybe sending it away from you to be obliterated from existence might be safer.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Make Your Own Rainbow: You need never again to be a victim of your emotions by Leonard Ryzman is a positive read in which the use of simple steps and Dynamic Emotion will then lead the reader to be more mindful of their negativity and pursue a better life/lifestyle.

This book was a vast mixture of reference worthy feats of history, stories from pop-culture icons, personal experiences and step by step exercises to encourage the use of Dynamic Emotion. With many of these lists peppered throughout, the basis of them is learning to block negativity by using positive imagination techniques.

I enjoyed the quotes that were used and thought they were very fitting and inspiring to the subject. The step by step exercises are also very practical and can be used by anyone.

The book however in its positivity did not inspire me as much as I would have liked. While the supporting examples of stories concerning those who went from nothing to something or had a major medical disadvantage in their life were fitting for the concept. They did not always relay back to the chapters point.

I felt like what this book is about- not being a victim of emotion got very much lost in too many tellings and re-tellings of stories. I would have gotten a better connection if the stories were limited and the focus was on applying myself. Maybe using more modern yet open examples to let the reader use them to their disposal. The reader needs more exercise and thinking, less knowing of what happened in the shoes of someone else.

Conclusively, Make Your Own Rainbow was a nice resource of many interesting people and their personal experiences. I would recommend this to anyone writing an essay on the subject and maybe a younger reader, but I myself didnt feel enlightened except maybe from a mental refreshing on mindfulness to prevent negative thinking. I rate this title 3 stars.

**Disclaimer: This book and Amer I Can include the same content.**

A book that will help the reader change the way they think. The first step is to purge all negative thoughts from the mind. This book highlights the important aspects that help do so. It also points out many famous people and the stories behind what made them successful. It also gives exercises to help the reader change their mindset more easily.

I really enjoyed this book a lot. I feel like I have been able to take a lot out of this book. I even have my own set of positive statements to repeat to myself anytime I start feeling down. It even helped me realize that the way others think about me reflects more on them than it does me. I can think of several people who would have great uses out fo this book.

I think that this book could use a bit of a run through editorially. There are a few typos here and there. There's really not many though. I can't think of anything else I found wrong personally with the book. It was very enlightening and full of positivity and hope for a better future.

I fully recommend this book. I can't wait to see how my new mindset will change my life and my future outlook. I can see myself going far and becoming successful. I don't see myself ever becoming famous or well known, but I'm okay with that. Anybody who suffers from mental disorders such as depression and anxiety would definitely benefit from this book.

The subtitle of this book suggests the key to creating the life you want is to take charge of your emotions. But in reading this book, I found that the emphasis was more on thought than emotion, even though the author did write a full chapter looking into the dynamic use of emotions (though I don’t quite agree that that was really covered in the chapter). The author states at the beginning of the book that it will help you get past obstacles that stand between you and the life that you want to lead. The book is full of examples of people who have overcome sometimes rather difficult hurdles in life. I felt like the author took some broad concepts of this book from other people who have written books on self-help and positivity but added more (or different) anecdotes to support the ideas. I thought that the chapter on adding years to your life didn't quite fit the overall theme of the book as the rest of the book is mentally, not physically, oriented. I will admit that chapter 4, when I saw its title in the table of contents, gave me pause for inclusion in such a book. I had to look at it right away, and it literally made me laugh out loud. You will find little new here, but different ways of looking at the same concepts impact people in different ways—so you may find that this book resonates with the way that you approach these ideas.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

This book was written by an author skilled in motivational speaking. In fact, I felt like I was in the audience listening to one of his speeches as I read it. The use of powerful working and imaging draws you in to what is being expounded, I felt immensely motivated throughout the entire read. And that’s saying a lot since I am basically an unsocial couch potato. I felt nothing but a positive energy flow. It’s easily understandable how much negative energy can keep you down. But I was shocked to learn how much negatives are hidden in our daily thinking.

Mr. Ryzman introduces the Dynamic Emotion program which is basically putting your emotion in overdrive in order to do what you must do to get what you want. He further explains how your emotions, whatever they are, can trigger chain effects, and that is why you should keep your emotions on a positive keel. The book lists ten suggested ways to repel any negative thoughts you may have. There were many examples of people who have overcome insurmountable obstacles in their lives even though they were severely handicapped. Some were so miraculous that it gave me goosebumps. I am so glad that I read this book. It was more than inspiring.

I love how uplifting and positive this book is. Ryzman not only explains dynamic emotion and how it influences the readers life and the decisions they make, but also shows them how to utilize their emotions to benefit their life, create success and over come any negative obstacles they are currently facing. The author provides the reader with many stories about those who have overcome extreme obstacles in their lives to eventually obtain remarkable achievements. It's a quick read that is both fun and eye opening while providing advice on how to change your attitude/outlook on life to help you enjoy it to the fullest. A very inspirational read!

Emotional self help book

This is a good read that will help you with your emotions and how to deal with negative emotions and thoughts. This is a good reference for anyone who suffers from anxiety, depression, low self worth, or low self esteem. Thinking negative is a bad start to dealing with anything in life. The author has put together an easy to read book that you can follow. It will help you with navigating the positive path and avoiding feeling overwhelmed with negative emotions. Good read and very helpful book.

This book really surprised me. I was a little worried about reading another book about positivity and self-help, as they tend to be really repetitive and end up being not at all helpful, but this one kept up my interest. Through experiences of many different, ordinary or extraordinary people, we learn how we can turn our life around only by changing our attitude with little mental exercises. Reading it really makes you want to stop procrastinating and start believing in what the author is saying, and it really has been helping me. I can recommend this to anyone who feels that they need a little push in their life to achieve what they want.

Also, as a First Reads winner, I had a great experience: the book arrived here, in Hungary in less then a week from Australia, and the author not only signed it but gave a little encouraging quote, calling me by my first name.

For someone like myself who seeks out positive thinking books, this book was absolutely fabulous. There are many incidents of folks overcoming obstacles that are almost impossible to believe but for the fact that the names and specifics are included! Yes, if that person can do what he or she did, then I can do what I am trying to do. It is an easy read, and it is one of those books that I will return to read over and over.

I won this Rainbow book as a giveaway from Goodreads. Thank you so much !

Make your own rainbow is an easy to read guide on how to turn negativity into positive thoughts. The book is full of wise words and anecdotes to help inspire you.

Unlike some books of this type, the author provides practical tips on how to improve your frame of mind which are easy to understand and use.

Sometimes the volume of anecdotes can be a bit much and so start to lose their impact. However, a good read for those in need of a pick me up or looking to just be happier.

This book was a better reading experience than I thought it would be. While it can be categorized as a self help book a category I rarely if ever read, this book was better than other books I've tried in this category. Overall this book was very good. It's a worthwhile read.
