It is a great read, though the ending is a bit rushed, just a teensy tiny bit. The characterization has been done beautifully, the plot is stunning. A recommendation to all that read HP fanfiction, just a word of warning, if you do not like a romance between two males, either ignore it or do not read it. The romance is a big part of the story plotwise, but not many graphical descriptions of it are in the story.
Just be aware that it is huge, Goodreads says it is over 1700 pages, for those with kindle 18227 locations (do not really get the locations thingy, pages are universal).
Edit: Re-read August 2021: Well I started reading this one not remembering what it was about and mistaking it for another fic. Around chapter 15ish I started remembering what it actually was. And even though Goodreads says I've read this one 2 times, I think I have been reading it at least every two years since it came out. I remember first time reading it on hpfandom (or was it fanfiction.net) and it ending on a cliffhanger with Filius washing up on the shores of a Mediterranean island. So I have been reading this one for the first time before it was even done more than half way, somewhere back in 2008-9. And my opinion did not change since then.
This story is a great one, the characters are fully rounded individuals, the plot is nice, juicy and pulls you right in. It is as gripping as some of my favorite published original stories from my favorite writers and the mammoth size of it is not a problem cos of the perfect flow of it.
The only thing I lament is the quick ending. The story was great till the last two chapters. And then it was like the author went "oh eff it, I'ma just gonna slap everything that is left in the shortest amount of time". If it had everything, we find out in those last two, stretched over four or five chapters, it would have been a nice and rounded ending. But the way it is, it is just a sprint to the finish of this behemoth spanning over four hundred thousand words.
As that is my only grievance, I will continue giving this fanfiction the five star mark. With it being better than a lot of published work I've had the pleasure of reading, I recommend it to all HP fanfiction fans, especially those that love the main pairing.
