Beautiful Pieces #2

Erik's Redemption

Rate this book
The difference between delight and devastation…a single moment.

Until recently, Hannah Jacobs thought she was living. One look at her new neighbor, and she knows she was simply surviving. Going through her days hiding behind a mask, similar to the broken man next door. Together, they slowly realize they want more…happiness, love, a future. And for a fleeting moment, Hannah thought they were well on their way.

Until Erik began to backslide…

Angry. Damaged. Resigned. Erik Hunter didn’t believe himself worthy of anyone’s time or attention. Until Hannah. She became his light in the dark. His angel. Offering salvation where once there were only shattered pieces of a weary soul. But just when he thinks he can have it all, he learns something that threatens their fragile union.

Her will indomitable, Hannah is determined to preserve the life they’re building. But Erik is equally resolute. He’ll do anything to protect the woman he’s coming to love—even from himself.

Erik and Hannah's love story continues where it left off in Erik's Salvation, which is available on Kindle Unlimited. I recommend starting with that story first, to fully enjoy the serial. Their story concludes in book three, Erik's Refuge.

I want to start this review by saying I love this author and will continue to read her books.

Spoilers ahead

That being said, I was disappointed in this continuation of Erik and Hannah's story. I rated it three stars because the book's first half was terrific, and I could not put it down. The push and pull between the two characters was so well written as they both tried to figure out how to be a couple. But then it all fell apart. It seemed very rushed that Hannah forgave Eric and they fell back into their relationship.
The storyline of Owen/Oden dating one of Hannah's friends to get to her was just a copy of Brigid and James.
Then, James being out on bail (by Hannah's supposed good friend) and coming back to hurt her was recycled from her foster dad being out on bail when she broke into her foster house to get the bracelet.
No one seemed concerned that her bodyguard Jim was killed. Very odd.
Then her brother came back after so many years to kidnap her; it was just too much. I am invested in the story, so I will continue to read book three. I just had higher hopes for this one.

Holy Crap you’re killing me with these cliffhangers. This story was one non stop crisis after another.

Erik has a secret that he knows will destroy his relationship. He’s been pulling away even though he can’t live without her.

You’re my person. In every scenario. In every version of every story that’s ours, you are mine, and I am yours.

Just when you think things are about to get better something else crops up and the crazy starts again.

“I love your heart. Your goodness. And I love how safe I feel with you, body and soul.”

Now we have to wait to see how this story will conclude. Hurry up and get here!!

The secrets. The lies. The fear. The heartbreak and the angst and the misery and maybe some hope? Maybe. Because Erik is sure about what he wants and where he stands, while Hannah is clearly uncertain about where she stands with him. And when something unexpected happens, she knows what she wants. The question is whether or not Erik is willing to listen and maybe move forward just a tad to find more happiness.

As the truths come tumbling out, the danger does also. Old events are current again, the dead are starting to talk, and I’m pretty sure we have at least two more big twists coming our way. I just can’t wait to find out which ones I might be right about, which ones I absolutely didn’t expect, and how it’s all going to work out in the end!

I had the honor of fact checking this book to make sure Hannah’s diabetes was accurate, and the author did an amazing job. The story had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I can’t wait for the next one

I am invested in this story. I am invested in all these characters. I think it takes real talent to keep me this involved when I dislike every character in this series, except Erik’s extended family, Henry, Rachel and Chandler.

I have wanted to scream, “how much of a miscommunicating dumbass can a person be?” about 1000 times in these 2 books. I am not exaggerating… truly about 1000 times. There is some real delicious intrigue in this storyline, and I have had to scream at my kindle like I am watching a B-horror movie. You think I am joking? I am not…

I am going to rage read the 3rd and final book and pray to a higher power some smarts have been found since the end of book 2. I want to say a heartfelt bravo to this author. Your writing has kept me turning pages and grabbing the next book even while wanting to jack-slap these characters into another fictional world.

As we return to Hannah and Erik’s story, he has yet another secret to keep from Hannah. This one could break them. He pulls away, burying himself in work.

This book will keep you on your toes, threats, and crisis after crisis. Erik is in his head; his feelings and emotions are waring with him. We are in deep, and I had a hard time putting the book down.
Erik’s Redemption is book two in the trilogy, and you must read Erik’s Salvation first. I am ready for book three Erik’s Refuge.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Following straight on from book one, so you are straight back into the thick of things. Not going to lie, I was straight back on the edge of my seat. I didn’t know what was going to happen next with this couple. They can’t seem to catch a break!

This book had lots of plot twists, I didn’t see coming. Can’t wait for the final book. I hope this wonderful couple gets their HEA.

I just finished this and I'm just completely overwhelmed. There was too much at the end. One situation after another, the introduction of the trafficking ring, and the absolute refusal of these characters to be open and honest with each other. I just don't see how two people who love each other as much as these two people do would continue to hide and lie to one another. It's just secret after secret and to be honest by the end it got tiring.

I love this author and have enjoyed so many of her books. This trilogy has so much of what she's great at. Side characters are terrific and the main characters have so much potential and chemistry. I'm just not sure that this needed to be a trilogy as it's feeling very drawn out and the secrets are getting annoying.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book was heartbreaking beautiful. The secrets and angst, lies and heartache....it pulls at the heartstrings in such a beautiful way. I highly recommend reading Book One of this trilogy first so you get a full grasp of the characters and the story. There was so many twists and turns, I anxiously awaited every new word, wanting to know more of what was to come. If you love a story that grips your heart tightly and is full of emotions and a story full of suspense with some sexy spice, you will love this!

Teddy Hamilton and Stella Bloom are perfect for Erik and Hannah, breathing such rich emotions and feeling into their characters and brought them to life in a magnificent way!

5 Stars for Erik’s second book in this amazing trilogy!!!

Nooooooooooooo!!! In ERIK’S REDEMPTION, the second book in Erik and Hannah’s amazing trilogy, Author Nyssa Kathryn completely shattered my heart along with theirs. She totally killed me dead for the second time and absolutely justified my rabid hate of cliff-hangers. Although, when it comes to her books, I’m obviously into self-punishment because there’s no way I could wait until the entire trilogy was out before I started the series!

Meaning, you absolutely have to read ERIK’S SALVATION before you hit REDEMPTION, and I tell you true, you won’t regret it. I’ll also say, for those of you who state you’ll wait for the entire trilogy, then I’m saying don’t. Seriously, the anticipation builds, and the taste when you get it is all the more sweeter. I love Erik and Hannah as a couple and they’ve been through so much. And even though I know it will eventually work out for them, I’m all kinds of excited to see just what Ms Kathryn has in store for them, and I know it’s going to be epic.

Meanwhile, in REDEMPTION, their story builds upon the aftermath of book one. You’ll know what the shock/horror moment is and you’ll understand when I say that Erik is harking back to his usual withdrawn self. His family notice and Hannah can’t fathom what is going on. Truth to tell, I don’t blame him. He knows when she finds out the truth of his past he’ll lose her. Meanwhile, her own past has come to haunt her. Hell, her recent past is also haunting her and she knows that Erik is on his last nerve so she’s not wanting to burden him with her own troubles.

It’s about now that I’m pulling my hair out and yelling at her to just let Erik do what he needs to do. The man is a protector through and through, so for Pete’s sake – let him just protect you already!!!! Gahhhh!

Seriously, Ms Kathryn has hit upon a winning formula with her books but with this trilogy I believe she’s really put herself out there. They still follow her basic premise, but with these I think she’s playing the long game and hoping readers will still be flocking to read them as they’re being released. It’s an author’s nightmare when the first couple of books in a cliffy series don’t sell and hard to tell if readers are waiting for all to be released before starting. Yep, they are as awesome as always and I trust she’ll do right by Erik and Hannah.

Absolutely 5-Delayed-Gratification-Worthy-Stars!!! 🖤💜✦

After that ending in book 1, I have been anxiously waiting to start this read! Hannah and Erik's love story is not an easy one. These two characters are the epitome of getting down in the trenches and fighting for their HEA. The raw and gritty nature of their emotions just pull you into their story and won't let go even after the end. Erik is so scared of losing Hannah that it causes him to clam up when he should be talking to her. Hannah is at her wit's end as to why it feels like Erik is distancing himself from her, and feels like her world is falling apart. On top of their emotional struggles, it seems Hannah has a stalker intent on punishing her for an event from her past. When Hannah finally discovers the truth of Erik's turmoil, she's faced with a choice. Can she love him in spite of his past? Or is this the line she can't cross?

Erik is determined to keep Hannah in his life. He can't lose her, even if that means loving and protecting her from a distance. But the love these two share can't be so easily tossed aside. Hannah knows that in order to keep Eric, she has to be willing to let go of his past. And Erik knows that in order to love Hannah the way she deserves, he has to forgive himself. Danger is around every corner, and sometimes the enemy is closer than you could have imagined. Just when Hannah is free from psychopath, another takes its place. Can Erik protect her from all the dangers coming for her? And what will Hannah do with the life changing news she needs to share with Erik?

This book was absolutely amazing. I didn't know how Nyssa could top Erik's first book, but somehow she did. There's danger, suspense, mystery and intrigue. There's also tension and angst without it being overwhelming. And of course, Nyssa gives us all the spice and romance! My heart absolutely shattered for both Hannah and Erik on more than one occasion. Hannah is a fantastic FMC, and balances out Erik so well. She brings so much light and hope to his life. Erik is all rough edges and hard angles, but for Hannah he is gentle and tender. He gives her safety and security when she's had so little of that in her life. But that ending though! I am already anxiously waiting for book 3! I definitely recommend this series!

Book & Audiobook Review

In Book 1 of Nyssa Kathryn's Beautiful Pieces trilogy, Erik's Salvation, sweet, sunshiny Hannah, determined to overcome her trauma and brokenness, has fallen for Erik, the grumpy former Marine next door. Despite his own traumatic past, Erik has finally opened himself up to love again, unable to resist the pull of his beautiful, younger neighbor. By the end of Book 1, their new found love has thus far withstood the test of secrets and danger, but Kathryn leaves us in suspense with a breathtaking revelation at the end.

Book 2, Erik's Redemption, begins with the secret kept that will test the strength of Erik and Hannah's bond and threaten their tenuous love. Will they be able to conquer the remnants of their past that continue to jeopardize the security and safety of not just their relationship, but also their very lives? Will their love withstand the struggles and peril in which our Hannah and Erik consistently find themselves? And once the present danger is seemingly over, what new secrets and revelations might further endanger the stability of their union?

A riveting and suspenseful small town age-gap romance, this sweet, spicy, and angsty tale is made all the more gripping by the remarkable voice talents of Stella Bloom and Teddy Hamilton.

Reprising their roles as Hannah and Erik from Book 1, Bloom and Hamilton continue with their amazing vocal chemistry, delivering strong performances as not just the MCs, but also various side characters. Bloom's sweet and vulnerable Hannah and Hamilton's protective yet embattled Erik kept me on the edge of my seat, chewing on my proverbial paper cup.

Nyssa Kathryn's continued collaboration with Blue Nose Audio is a match made in heaven for my listening ears. I look forward to the conclusion of this trilogy and to a happily ever after for both Hannah and Erik in Book 3.

NOTE: In my opinion, the full enjoyment of this story can best be achieved by listening to /reading Book 1. I highly recommend it.

Harlequin Vibes With Emotionally Charged Smut

Quote:📖
“I never fear anything.” He touched a light kiss to her neck. “But when it comes to you, I fear everything.”

Thoughts: 💡
This book was so much fun to listen to. It had all the old school Harlequin vibes. The challenges the MCs faced were very real for them and showed how much they knew their partner, and reflected their own insecurities, those insecurities were what made the characters endearing.

Writing Mechanics: ✍️
There were a few smut scenes and they were super hot and emotionally charged. It was told in first person with a dual POV and with fairly well developed MCs and side characters. The plot was straightforward and there weren’t too many unforseen twists, but the story was still engaging and emotional.

Narration & Sound: 🔊
I loved the audio on this, it had dual narration with dialogue delivered by the casted character.
Teddy Hamilton was brilliant and Stella Bloom delivered a passionate performance. The sound quality was clear and precise at a steady pace that maintained the volume level.

Fun Bits:
⚜️ Teddy 👏 Freaking 👏 Hamilton 👏
⚜️ Emotionally Charged Smut Scenes 🔥

This is book 2 of the Trilogy and can not be read as a stand alone. This book picks up right where book 1 ended.

I don't want to write a review with a ton of spoilers. So I will leave this review more simple than my others.

I adore Hannah and Erik.

Erik is a grumpy/brooding man with a tragic past. Erik also let's that past define him and the choices that he makes in life. His job is not your typical desk job and if you hurt anyone he loves he will act on his promises for revenge.

Hannah is a hard working FMC who has type 1 diabetes. This is a big part of her and is mentioned quite often in the books because of situations/stresses that happen and how they can effect her diabetes (I enjoy reading that because of someone who does not have this it is interesting to see how bodies react to situations and how to help).

I adore Hannah and Erik together. With Erik you know he will do anything for Hannah and you can truly tell how deeply he loves her. Erik's family is also just as smitten with Hannah and they welcome her in with open arms. I am in love with how Erik always has appropriate snacks for her in his car when her levels are high/low this is such an acts of service love language. Although in this series it seems to me that danger is always around Erik and Hannah and I really hope these two catch a break in book 3 because I just can not imagine more happening to them, they deserve their happily ever after especially after everything they have gone through.

This book does leave on a cliffhanger which is not my favorite but knowing the 3rd book should be out in March is helpful to know!

I did receive and ARC from @theauthoragency for my honest review.

I have to admit that I held off listening to this book.Because I wanted to wait for book 3 to drop.
And like the first book, again I was not too keen on the h's best friend in this story line. She's the least kind of petdon for a bestie. And although she has been through a lot I think Hannah needs more henrys. The h has a heart of pure gold and sometimes I think she is too naive for her own good as the torment she puts herself through is aching.
Eric is so strong and so afraid that I was reluctant to pick up this book simply because I knew I had to be in the right headspace or the drastic emotional pull that Nyssa has written between the 2H's was going to gut me.
I enjoyed the way the plot twisted. And turned and had old antagonists surfaced to create some sinister situations.
As much as I know book 3 with will be about Eric coming to terms and having revelations about his life and Hannah. I'm guessing it'll be laced with the suspense as I see there is an old adversary still around.
It was an absolutely brilliant story.
I love the suspense and I just adore Nyssas writing.
I have read every single one of your other novels that you have put to audio. I will finish this one and then I'm on to hope. And I even have the bodyguards Christmas vacation in here. So I have a Nyssa overload that I am so looking forward to. Thank you again.
The duet narration. I was so excited to hear. Not many authors get to do this. Or perhaps its cost or preference.
But these 2 narrators just worked beautifully. I love Teddy and I love Stella. They did such a good job, so thank you to them. And thank you Nyssa for putting it in duet form

Spice 3/5

I was in the middle of a book when this came through my email and I had to drop it and start this! I was so lucky to read Erik’s Salvation as an ARC and it ended with a 🤯 so I’ve been anticipating this book and now cannot wait for book 3 because this book also ends with a 🤯!

I recommend reading book 1 first (you won’t regret it). This book has some thriller/suspense, trauma, romance, secret ops, diabetes and some good smut. Erik and Hannah are trying to find their way in a relationship after a MAJOR secret is revealed (in book 1) that could end their relationship. However, Hannah has no idea and Erika is trying to figure out if she should tell her because he could lose her. There is A LOT more to the story than that but I do not want to give any teasers away and with as packed as this is I can’t share too much.

Nyssa did an amazing job with this book. It has a great story line and some really good SMUT. This book is face paced and really hard to put down. In fact I didn’t even get to post the currently reading because I started it and finished it in a day! Any time I put this book down I was itching to pick it back up. Nyssa does a beautiful job of keeping you guessing with what is going on…like you think you know but you’re not sure. the character development is really good too because you get to watch them struggle and grow. I absolutely loved this book and recommend it.

I have to confess that normally I stay far, far away from cliffhangers, but since I absolutely love anything this talented author writes, I gave book 1 of this trilogy a try and loved it so much that I was anxiously awaiting this book.
Hannah Jacobs and Erik Hunter are still together, but his secrets and distancing, are causing Hannah not only doubts , but also heartbreaks.
The more Hannah is determined to try and preserve their new life, the more Erik thinks that the best way to keep her safe is by staying away. Especially because when he confesses what he did, it could tear them apart.
When things seem to be moving in a positive manner, danger reappears in both their lives. Will they be able to once again mend what they have?
But what happens when Hannah gets an unexpected surprise? Will that be the end of their relationship since Erik is adamant about his determination in not giving up his beliefs?
This story is at times a heart wrenching to the point, that at times, the reader will be on the verge of tears for these two souls whose life has not been easy and truly need to find their HEA.
In the end , will they survive not only life, but the changes that the future could bring?
I can’t wait to read the next installment of this trilogy. One that I am certain this talented author will deliver making it one of her best work ever.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This is book 2 of the trilogy and does end on a cliffhanger.

We start from where the last book left off, with Hannah and Erik together but with Erik discovering something that could break them up. These two deserve each other and their happy ever after but they are having to fight for every single step of the way. There is suspense, betrayal, true friendship, found family, but so much is going on its hard to get time together.

So much is being thrown at them and from so many differnt directions, my head was spinning trying to figure how who was going to cause trouble for them next, between current issues and with them both having troubled pasts, they just can't catch a break. How much stuff can these two actually have happen to them, it's getting to the point where there is far too much to make it anywhere believable - and the police are non-existent with it all. If these two just talked more and were more honest with each other I think some problems wouldn't even be happening.

Erik is one tough cookie, but seems to melt around Hannah. They have so much chemistry and so many steamy moments together, but then something else just keep getting in the way and pushing pause on their HEA.

This book also has a cliffhanger, and I have to say I'm really looking forward to book 3 because of it. I have no idea how much more can be thrown at these two, I mean, anyone else would probably be hiding and refuse to leave the house but they both try to continue with their lives.

Erik's Redemption
Beautiful Pieces, Book 2
By: Nyssa Kathryn
Narrated by: Teddy Hamilton, Stella Bloom

As this series continues, I am even more in love with it. Nyssa Kathryn spikes up the suspense and keeps the love flowing! The story picks up where book 1 leaves off, so definitely grab that one first! Hannah is a bit confused and feeling unloved as Erik begins to pull away. He is deathly afraid of the secret he is keeping, and knows the ramification of it being told. Hannah begins to get strange, threatening messages too, which keeps Erik on alert. Henry finds a boyfriend, Bridget is acting a bit aloof and life just keeps moving along, a bit out of control. What is going on? And when Erik's secret is revealed, what happens? More and more is happening, and there are a lot of twists and turns happening, leading me down more paths and wondering where it's all going to go? Now as Hannah has her own secrets, and things are not always as they appear, what will happen next? I am not sure, but I am ready to find out!!! Bring on the conclusion! I need to know!

Teddy Hamilton and Stella Bloom continue their wonderful narration of this series. As Erik and Hannah they keep the chemistry high and the stress too! It's so fun to listen and get lost in the story with narrators like Hamilton and Bloom that can give every feel, every pull, every fear, and every passion life. I am lost in this story and it's because these two are keeping me entertained. Loved their performance!

Angsty. Steamy. Page Turner.
We pick up shortly after the ending to the prequel Erik’s Salvation where we fall head over heals for damaged and resigned Erik Hunter who struggles still with what he’s been through previously in losing comrades and a fiancé pregnant with child, but he can’t stop falling for his angelic neighbour Hannah Jacobs….at the end of book 1, you realise the gauntlet that is hanging over their relationship could be the end all to what they have only really just started enjoying. Erik struggles with the idea of losing Hannah and what this new information could mean for them. Meanwhile Hannah can already feel the separation from Erik but can’t understand what he is hiding and making him revert back to the grumpy man who avoided her like before. While they try to work through this new challenge, a new threat from Hannah’s past starts to torment and terrorise her. While the threat starts to close in on Hannah and Erik realises he needs he like the very air he needs to breathe, they start to realise that their love is stronger and unbreakable. That is until life changing news comes and causes yet another massive crack in their foundation. Erik has yet to discover the surprise Hannah has, and she is a unsure if their love can yet again be strong enough to endure. Will their love survive it’s biggest challenge yet? And will a person from Hannah’s past make their real self known and give answers to the things that happened in the past?

Erik’s Redemption is the second book in the Beautiful Pieces series and cannot be read as a standalone.

I didn’t read the first book because I didn’t realize this was a series that has to be read in order. Anyway, despite being a little confused in the beginning, I ended up really enjoying this story, and I’m definitely going to go back and read the first book.

Erik and Hannah both have secrets that they’re afraid of the other finding out, but they can’t keep their secrets forever. And their secrets lead to danger for the both of them.

This book was packed with mystery, suspense, and angst. Erik was constantly watching out for Hannah, not only to protect her, but also because she had diabetes, and he wanted to make sure her blood sugar levels were good. He was just so protective and caring when it came to Hannah. Meanwhile, Hannah was constantly on alert because she was always in danger. Not only that, but her friends were also in danger because of…well, everything was connected, and I was shocked.

This does end on a cliffhanger, and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Audio:
Narrators: Teddy Hamilton and Stella Bloom
Style: Duet

These two did an excellent job bringing the story and characters to life. This book is told in third person POV, but the narrators performed the lines as if it were first person – they really put emotion into their respective character’s voice.

**Audiobook Review**

OMG, that cliffhanger! “Erik’s Redemption” is a steamy, action packed and thrilling second book in the “Beautiful Pieces” series that has me hooked.

Picking up where “Erik’s Salvation” left off, Erik and Hannah are going through their new normal as a couple and there are some bumps in the road. Erik is 100% committed to Hannah but still has some fears about their future together. Hannah is happy but noticing the distance. Both have secrets that they’ve been keeping from each other and are going to come out sooner than later.

Ahhh… that cliffhanger had my jaw dropping. I will be counting down the days until the next book is out. Hannah and Erik are so great together and I loved their chemistry. Erik cares so much for Hannah and he shows it in the way he cares for her with acts of service. He’s smart, protective and someone who has a rough past. Hannah is someone that I liked right from the beginning and she’s so relatable to so many. And the secrets they had…were so good. The action and suspense was turned up for this story and I loved every minute.

CJ Bloom and Teddy Hamilton were great as Hannah and Erik. The story is told in third person and these two did an amazing job bringing the story to life. I was hooked on their narrations and loved listening to them narrate in duet.

Wowza I am loving this romantic suspense series from Nyssa Kathryn! Erik’s Redemption is book two in this emotional rollercoaster, suspenseful trilogy. Redemption picks up where Erik’s Salvation left off, but when a shocking revelation is revealed, Erik and Hannah’s happily ever after is in turmoil. As Erik’s past catches up to him and Hannah navigates changes to her health management and career, an unknown threat lands Hannah in danger once again. Nyssa is a new-to-me author and she has turned me absolutely feral for Hannah & Erik’s HEA! I loved her storytelling style, her compelling characters, and her world building. I won’t lie, I spent a lot of this audiobook snarling at Erik for his lack of communication skills, but the tension it created added to the nail-biter of a military suspense story. I may start a “happiness for Hannah” petition before the release of book three. LOL. The cliffhanger at the end of Redemption is looping rent free in my head. I can’t wait to hear the epic conclusion.

Stella Bloom and Teddy Hamilton are incredible as Hannah and Erik! Stella portrays the disciplined business woman with a traumatic past beautifully. I love Teddy in all types of roles, but there’s something extra special when darker, grumpy, domineering Teddy steps in the booth. The personality and emotional depth Stella and Teddy breathe into these characters is masterful. I can’t wait to listen to more of this amazing duo bringing Nyssa’s love story to life. If you’re new to Nyssa Kathryn’s work, start with Erik’s Salvation.

Well if I didn’t know anything about diabetes before I read this book I do now! Haha

This book was totally predictable but I seriously loved every second of it! It was a fast listen and a lot happened without a lot really happening!

Erik needs to get his stuff together, him being so stubborn and set in his ways with what happened in his past, he needs to grow and be a better man! If he loves Hannah as much as he says that he does then he needs to work on himself!

Hannah, dang girl!!! What did you do in a past life to earn all these crazy dudes to come after you! Sheesh. Also, I felt her character was a bit whiny in this book, but she did have people after her and hurting her soooo I forgive the whining!

I know that most of this seems negative but it’s totally not, I loved all these things about this book! Nyssa Kathryn writes wild and crazy stories! It’s what I love most about her books! I do hope that Erin steps in for Hannah and really helps her through this time, since Erik might not be in the picture??!?

The ending was great, I figured that was the case and I’m actually happy that it happened that way, I do hope that there is a redemption for this person as well!!

All in all, 4 Stars for me! I also received an ALC from Bluenose Audio! Thank you for that, all thoughts are my own!

The drama from book one continues with Erik's past realisation impacting his relationship with Hannah but he is not the only one keeping secrets. It turns out Hannah has some of her own that she hasn't shared but Erik keeping himself at a distance is making her question their future.

Although a lot of this book is largely dealing with Erik's guilt and how he deals with something from his past, the plot is focused on a new threat to Hannah. This plotline is woven in seamlessly from book one and works really well. The action really ramps up towards the end and I loved the twists and turns in this book. What I thought was going to be the obvious twist wasn't and this ends on a jaw dropper of a cliffhanger leaving us with more questions than answers.

The narration is really engaging and I love the duet style; there are enough characters that Teddy Hamilton and Stella Bloom are given the opportunity to show their range out with the leads whilst also going through all the angst, humour and emotional moments with Erik and Hannah.

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely and I have added all the authors works to my TBR

•Trope: Book 2 in the Beautiful Pieces Trilogy. Age Gape, Alpha Hero, damaged hero.

Okay, let's get this out of the way. This is a trilogy, which means it ends on a cliffhanger. You do need to read in order. So do not read this book until you have read book 1, Erik's Salvation. Which you should. It's really good!

• Thoughts:
Okay, my book besties! This book, my goodness, we are diving even deeper into the emotional side of Hannah and Erik. I had this one read in a day! It captured my attention from the beginning! It was heartfelt and emotional, and yes, at times, you wanted to smack Erik. I say this with all the love, of course. This poor couple have demons to face, each of them are coming face to face with their past, and I feel they are going to have a few more challenges they must face umm 2 huge ones in fact. 2 that made my eyes pop out of my head, and i am thinking of how to slide in Nyssa's DM's and beg her for book 3!! You have me in a choke hold, Nyssa!!!
Well, my friends, this one, you guessed it left off on a cliffhanger! And a big one, I might add!!! It was deliciously good and leaves you wanting more!

As soon as Erik’s Salvation ended, I dove straight in to this advanced audiobook. Ending on a cliffhanger, I couldn’t wait to find the next step.

Erik & Hannah are the perfectly unusual couple who seem to be completely made for each other. With a 13 year age gap, they shouldn’t work so well…but they are simply each other’s other half.
But as reality has set in & things of the past resurface, these two need to find their way past the walls long ago constructed as well as the new ones slowly forming.

Will Erik find the courage to be transparent with Hannah in his most destructive secret? He knows that if she knows the truth, he may lose her forever. But can Hannah also remain the only living soul who knows the details from her darkest & deeply concealed past? She runs the risk of grave consequences. So when danger & difficulty arises for them both, will those walls & barriers be broken down? Or will they remain steadfast with omitted truths & concealed communication.

Audiobook Review:
Teddy Hamilton & Stella Bloom delivered a phenomenal performance that completely consumed my entire day. Covering both books 1 & 2 in the same day, these two drew me in & didn’t let me go. The emotion & passion delivered was perfect.

Oh holy moly, what an exciting action-packed story! This second book in the trilogy just blew me away, especially that ending, but 🤐 no spoilers from me. Just get yourself reading this as soon as possible, oh, you need to read book one—Erik’s Salvation—first if you haven’t (but that’s a terrific book too).

After the way things ended in the first book I was dying to know how things would go for Erik and Hannah… very rocky. 😬 Hannah seems to land in hot water more times than any other character I’ve read about, I think. Mind you it does make for a terrific story with heaps of nail-biting drama. I like how Hannah has grown, even if it’s only in small ways, it shows she has more stamina and oomph.

Erik is so set in his ways but to be fair he did have a traumatic past. (Um, but then again, so did Hannah! 🤔) I admire Erik’s protective nature and willingness to help others… he just needs to listen to others a tad more, in my opinion.

There were concurrent issues explored in this book that made it so fast paced, I found it so hard to put down. With unexpected twists and turns this was such an entertaining story. I now can’t wait to read the third and final book, Refuge, especially after that ending. A cleverly designed trilogy and extremely well written.

Oh my gosh, This one put you through the emotional ringer from the jump. All the emotions the agony the torture, heart wrenching , what the two of them go through is insane. They love each other so much it’s crazy they’re meant to be together without a doubt they’re soulmates. But they have issues and baggage on each side that they have to overcome. This book we dig even deeper into those issues. There are times where it feels like one step forward three steps back and we think oh my god are they ever going to get their act together and find their way back to each other. There’s still this underlying current of danger because there’s always something going on that they’re trying to solve this underlying mystery. It just goes to show that sometimes fear is such a motivator that can be so debilitating in crippling but that love can help heal. This was a beautiful book and a beautiful chapter in their story there were a lot of ups and downs they resolve some things and now we discovered new issues that we have to resolve. But the bottom line is they absolutely love each other and they’re gonna do whatever it takes to figure out how to be together. And I can’t wait to see how book 3 is going to resolve all the crazy things that we ended off with in book 2.
