5 "Messy is Where the Good Stuff Lives" Stars!

Sweet Southern Betrayal, the third book of Robin Covington's “Boys are Back in Town” series, featured attorney, Teague Elliot. Known as a “fixer” among the elite power brokers of Washington D.C., he worked at one of the most prestigious firms and had political aspirations. He stayed away from anything he considered “messy,” like relationships. While attending his sister, Taylor’s wedding to his best friend, Lucky, in Las Vegas, he met redheaded bombshell, Risa Clay – his new showgirl wife. His showgirl wife who owned a side business selling tasteful “marital aids.” Not exactly the ideal woman for a man with dreams of living in the White House. Everything about Risa was “messy.” And personal. And amazing.

They agreed to keep their marriage a secret. Unfortunately, secrets have a way of taking on a life of their own, and soon Teague’s family, friends and colleagues found out about Risa. As beautiful as she was on the outside, Risa was even lovelier on the inside. She immediately tried to protect Teague from the possible repercussions of their Vegas nuptials, and knowingly placed herself directly in harm’s way.

At its core, Sweet Southern Betrayal was an “opposites attract” story, but as the layers were peeled away, we learned that both Risa and Teague were survivors. They saw the dreams they never believed could be realized, in and with, each other. It required that they to look past their set life plans, and into an unknown, unexpected and uncontrollable future. How they navigated it was beautifully crafted, through self-doubt, heartbreak, betrayal, forgiveness, and the possibility of love. In addition to some very steamy sex.

Many series have recurring characters that make cameo appearances, but Ms. Covington created a deep connection between the four friends – Teague, Lucky, Jack and Beck – that was itself another fully developed character. The men formed a bond in childhood that sustained them through personal and professional successes and failures. Ms. Covington took that circle of friendship and expanded it, as each man found love, and their family of friends grew.

While each book may be read as a stand-alone novel, I highly encourage readers to read A Night of Southern Comfort and His Southern Temptation. Robin Covington is writing Beck’s book and it promises to be as emotional, entertaining and hot, as the rest of the series.

Disclaimer: While I received an ARC of this book for an honest review, I purchased it for my "Boys are Back in Town" Collection.

I was lucky enough to read an advance copy of this book, and once again, Covington doesn't disappoint. She creates sexy characters with real flaws that make them appealing, endearing and true to life. The sparks fly fast and furious in Sweet Southern Betrayal-- make no mistake, Risa and Teague are hot, hot, hot. This is a great installment of this series. If you're a fan of these "boys" books (and really, how could you not be?!), you'll devour this one.

Bring on Beck! I love "the boys"!

Sweet Southern Betrayal is book 3 in the Boys Are Back In Town series by Robin Covington. Being a fan of the series, I was thrilled at the release of book 3. However, I had a reservation - how could the author get all of Teague's goodness in a mere 161 pages? It cannot be enough!

After reading the book, my response is: Small packages, big bang. Holy Smokes! Is my Kindle on fire?

In a good romance novel sometimes it's about the relationship between characters, sometimes it's about whether or not we like the characters, and sometimes it just about how the story evolves, then sometimes we get the the Perfect Storm when all three happen in the perfect mix of hot, sweet and suspense. I love virtually everything about this story. I love the playful writing ("apocalypse sex", very appropriate label), the emergence of serious themes, and the nod to one of my favorite books, Jane Eyre.

We often talk about whether the characters have chemistry in a book. I think there is also chemistry between the reader and the writer. This reaction happens when the material the author writes resonates with you on a deeper level. One aspect I enjoyed is the author raising issues about privilege and meritocracy without being preachy. Teague and Risa come from opposite backgrounds. This idea of being able to see and understand each others experience and perspectives and not assume to understand is important. This holds true not only from a class perspective but also from all aspects of diversity. I have often used the question, "when does a fish notice the water she is in?" The answer: "When she is out of the water".

It takes interactions with Risa and his friends for Teague to realize his struggles as the town's favored son is both unique and shared. Teague lives a life of privilege and although he does not flaunt it, he does not realize at first, that it colors the lenses in which he sees the world. At the same time, he and Riza both share a struggle with expectations based on their upbringing. Maybe they have more in common than they first realize.

All of this important stuff in the context of a spitfire, hot romance - Robin Covington, you outdid yourself.

IN A NUTSHELL:
Yes, I am gushing because I simply could not get enough. This book has all the right ingredients to keep you glued to the pages.

O.M.G...

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book and holy moly, Robin didn't disappoint me. It was one of those books that I just couldn't put down once I started reading it, and it kept me flipping pages till the very end.

Teague is so amazing and Risa made him the man that he wanted to be. I loved Jack and Lucky, but Teague will always be my favorite.

She had a troubled past and he only wanted the partnership at the law firm. She thought she didn't fit into his plan and he thought that he couldn't love someone. Man they were both wrong, because they fit together perfectly and were meant for each other.

"You are my soul and my heart, and I need you, Risa. Please marry me." Teague Elliot... This was one of my things that Teague said to Risa.

Sweet Southern Betrayal was such a great read. Enjoyed the story line and characters.

Loved Teague and Risa, their chemistry was off the charts!
Only a very special woman could make Teague question his well laid out plans for his future and Risa was that woman.

The story line was entertaining and I found I couldn't and didn't want to put it down until I was finished.

The Boys are Back in Town has been a great series and I highly recommend it, thank you Robin Covington for writing and sharing your boys with us. Cannot wait for Becks story in Southern Nights ;)

Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Indulgent for the ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Haven't read first 2 books in the series, but it can be read as a standalone.

I really liked the story, liked all the characters, actually I haven't got one bad thing to say about the whole book. The writing was fine, the plot, the whole development with romance... Everything was great.

But when you put mob in a book, me as a fan of mobsters, I just want more development on that side of the story. More action in that part, because it was actually important for the plot.

But I really enjoyed this story and will be reading others.

When I read my first Covington book last year, I knew that she would become an auto-buy author for me. When I got the chance to be a part of the blog tour for this release, I jumped at the chance to read more!

Teague has big plans for himself: partner in his law firm, and a political career he hopes to take all the way to the White House. All he has to do is continue on the path he has already laid out for himself, the straight and narrow that leaves no room for drunken Vegas antics. Too bad he wakes up naked next to a Vegas Showgirl. Teague isn’t worried about anything coming of it, until Risa shows up at his door and informs him they were married.

Risa got in deep with the wrong people, and trapping Teague into a compromising position was going to be enough to get her out. But Risa can’t do that to the sweet and sexy stranger. After just a short time with Teague, Risa knows she will have to think of something else to get out of the hole with the mob boss she owes money too, because even though she falls head over heels, she knows that a Vegas Showgirl isn’t exactly the kind of woman Teague wants as his first lady.

I loved the premise of this book, but I have to admit that coming in without having read the previous two kinda threw me off. There were times I just knew that had I started reading the series at the very beginning, I would have understood the characters, the town, and the situations better than I did. That’s not to say I wasn’t able to get the jist of what was going on, however I know I would have had an even deeper understanding if I wouldn’t have joined the series on book three.

However, I did find myself adoring this group of guys and the small town they are all originally from. I’m definitely going to have to go back and read the previous books in the series, because I would love to get more backstory about all the characters we saw popping up. The secondary cast was such a fun and supportive group of people, and I adored them all so much!

For me, Risa was the shining star in this book. Her determination to pick herself up and make something out of her life was wonderful to see. Especially in the face of so many people looking down on her because of it. I wanted to hug and applaud her every time she held her head high, despite the numerous times others tried to beat her down. She was so strong and driven and focused on doing the right thing, even if her options were limited. I thought she was such a wonderful heroine, and I sincerely hope we get to see more of her in the future.

While I enjoyed Teague, there were a few moments when I really couldn’t stand the guy. He was so wrapped up in his own goals, his own dreams, his own future political aspirations that he really had a hard time seeing above and beyond that. There was a scene when one of his best friends kinda puts Teague in his place, reminding him of how narrow minded and dickish he’s been, and I loved watching the lightbulb go on over his head. It was a wonderful moment to literally see Teague realize how wrong he has been. That and his groveling really helped make up for some of that asshat behavior.

The romance between these two was too cute. I adored the fact that they were both so level headed about their night in Vegas, and how mature they were about handling their drunken marriage. The sparks were definitely flying with these two, and I loved the fact that throughout most of their relationship, they really were so on the same page about what they both wanted, what the expected, and what they wanted to gain from their relationship. It is always refreshing to read those kinds of romances, and I thought Covington did a wonderful job with it.

All in all I enjoyed the third book in The Boys are Back in Town series, I am definitely going to go back and read the previous books to further my understanding of the series. I loved Risa, and Teague more than made up for his jerk moments. I thought the romance was wonderful, and I’m anxious to see which bad boy gets his HEA next.
I give Sweet Southern Betrayal a B-

When I finished this book, I did so with a satisfied sigh. Robin Covington has done it again with the third book in the Boys Are Back in Town series. If you haven't read the first two books, why not ? They are awesome and this is a great addition.

This is Teague's book. The determined lawyer who has a set plan to get him to the top of the political hill and is working hard to make it a reality. What he never expected was to wake up with a stranger in Vegas and later find out he's married to her. This just won't do.

Risa, Vegas performer and online marital aid seller and now Teague's wife. She has a secret but flies to Teague when she realises they are married. She plans on telling him the truth, but the desire and sparks that flew between them in Vegas burn hotter and hotter and soon they can't keep their hands off each other. " Risa, I need a bed for what I want to do to you, he growled"

But when outside forces push them together for public appearances, can they keep the flames that burn between them from hurting or falling for each other ? Even when a betrayal lays between them ? What happens when Risa is in danger, can Teague play the white night one more time ?

I loved these two characters, Teague may seem like a buttoned up lawyer, but as the saying goes, you've got to watch the quiet ones. With lines like this from Teague " She was the kind of woman who had men like him forget they had plans. Hell, she'd make them change their plans" He has a spark and hot side that Risa brings out perfectly. She is the perfect foil for him.

As for Risa, she has layers that are peeled back and if you don't love her by the end of the book, I don't understand why. She has had a hard past but is making an effort to put that behind her. Plus her loyalty to a friend and to Teague only makes her more lovable. Especially when she sprout lines like " Eyes up Frank. The girls are awesome, but the last time I checked they don't talk".

We get to see the other "boys" in Lucky, Jack and the oh so wise Beck. As well as Michaela and Taylor and the Comfort Diner too. The boys are fantastic when they are all together and they are in fine form in this book.

The author just keeps making this series better and better. I for one am super excited to read Beck's upcoming book. I'm going back for a re-read of the two previous books before a re-read of this one. I need more of the boys I think.

This book was supplied by the publisher and author for an honest review.

Posted on What I'm Reading

So, I got a chance to read Robin Covington latest book Sweet Southern Betrayal. I must say that I really enjoyed this book and I loved the chemistry between Risa and Teague. Talk about opposites.

You have Risa Clay who is a Vegas showgirl who has a side business of selling "sensual marital aids and exclusive nightwear for couples"(fancy way of saying sex toys and lingerie). She grew up waiting for the rug getting pulled from underneath her or waiting for the other show to drop.

Then you have Teague Elliot who grew up not knowing what it was like to grow up on the wrong side of the tracks. He's had a privilege life and has used to his full advantage. Plus, he's one of those guys who has his life planned out to the minute. All his blocks are lined up perfectly.

However, all that changes when his life gets turned upside down by Risa. Now Risa made a deal with the devil and now she is dealing with the fallout and trying to fix what she has done to Teague.

Sweet Southern Betrayal happens to be an awesome read. I mean you have this heat between Risa and Teague, but at the same time they are just buying their time till they fix the issue at hand. However, things start to change between these two. Risa is more than willing to let thing go with the flow while Teague is a bit stubborn. Teague is just so focus on his goal that he doesn't see what he has until it's almost too late. Overall, this was a fun read, because you have two people that couldn't be anymore opposite than Teague and Risa. So, if you are looking for a sassy heroine that could drive a stick in the mud crazy, you might have winner with Sweet Southern Betrayal.

Oh Risa you just have no filter girl, "my phone. From the empty condom wrapper on the bedside table and what I can remember, I'm anxious to get a look at my pictures to see what else we got up to last night." Teague the poor guy doesn't really know proper protocol when it comes to Vegas and waking up naked, "eff, this is a mess." He took a deep breath, gathering his thoughts. "Excuse me if I don't know the protocol. I never do this kind of thing either." Sometimes when you're stuck between a rock and a hard place you just have to go with the flow, "eff me," teague murmured, his grip tightening almost painfully around her waist as the stressful seconds ticked by. He finally lifted his head, answering clearly with no hesitation. "She's my wife." That boy is so gone for his girl that he'd do anything, "she'd shown up in his office a half a hour earlier wearing his favorite pair of a**-clinging yoga pants with a pronouncement that he had nothing to eat in the refrigerator. The next thing he knew he'd abandoned his review of the case file he desperately needed to complete, driven her out to the Harris Teeter, and was now following her around the store with a cart."

Wow. Just wow. This was my first Robin Covington book and I'm itching to go find everything else she's written and read it. Like, now.

Teague was hot. Like, really hot. And thankfully it didn't take him too long to realize he was stupid to let her go. Of course, it took a phone call from the mob for him to realize his stupidity, but he got it ;) Risa was a great heroine. She was strong, and had such a good heart, wanting to do the right thing. She just got mixed up with the wrong people trying to get it done.

I'll definitely be going back to read the other books in this series. I liked that we were getting a group of GUYS who were friends. I want Beck's book. Badly LOL

Teague is just so delish. He's a professional man with a promising career and so much raw sexiness, he jumps right out of the pages. Wait, that could have just been one of my fantasies. :-p Risa is a woman sure of herself and what she stands for in a bit of a pickle with the wrong people. The chemistry between these two characters is enough to cause a nuclear explosion. I am never disappointed by Robin's books but this one...well.. let's just say that you'd be crazy not to seek out this gem for yourself. I'm not one to give away these 5 stars willy nilly but Sweet Southern Betrayal earned every bit of them. If you're looking to get warmer this winter, look no further. Robin's got just the thing for you :-p

Loved it! What a fantastic book!

Great storyline, likeable characters, strong dialogue, and some panty-melting sex scenes! I couldn't stop reading until I reached the end.

This was my first book to read by this author, but now I'm itching to go back and read the others two books in this series (which I'll be doing ASAP)! Robin Covington has definitely found herself another fan.

•••

REVIEW: 3.75 stars--SWEET SOUTHERN BETRAYAL is the third installment in Robin Covington’s THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on a tight knit group of four friends in the Washington DC area. This is attorney Teague Elliott, and Vegas showgirl / business entrepreneur Risa Clay’s story line. SWEET SOUTHER BETRAYAL can be read as a stand alone without any difficult. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Risa and Teague) SWEET SOUTHERN BETRAYAL focuses on the sudden marriage between Vegas showgirl Risa Clay, and DC attorney Teague Elliott. Teague is a fixer; a lawyer, on the fast track to make partner but his first priority is cleaning up his father’s past mistakes. When one of the firm’s biggest clients asked Teague to ‘fix’ a problem in Vegas, Teague found himself in league with the Mob, and an offer he flat-out refused. But a drunken night, following his sister’s wedding to his best friend Lucky (His Southern Temptation #2) ends with no memories, and a Vegas showgirl by his side Teague begins to wonder if the Mob’s reach goes too far. When Teague discovers that his Vegas one-night stand is now his wife, his future political career may be in jeopardy. What ensues is the building but short-lived relationship between Teague and Risa, and Risa’s attempts to fix the error of her ways.

Teague is a Harvard graduate; a man with aspirations towards the White House, and a man who cannot have any questionable black marks in his past-Risa is a questionable choice of mate, and would never be accepted by the political elite.

Risa is a Vegas showgirl; a small business owner who owes the Mob more than she can pay, and a woman caught between right and wrong.

The relationship between Risa and Teague is one of immediate regret following their one-night stand. The attraction to one another is palpable but Teague suspects there is more to Risa’s story than she is letting on. Their Vegas marriage will be short lived if Teague has anything to say but time together finds our couple falling for one another. The $ex scenes are intimate and erotic.

All of the previous story line couples, as well as Dr. Beck Sutherland, play secondary and supporting roles. Beck’s story will be told in the series final installment SOUTHERN NIGHTS AND SECRETS.

SWEET SOUTHERN BETRAYAL is an entertaining story about two people caught up with the Vegas Mob; an ‘opposites attract’ romance where political aspirations can be destroyed by reputation, and sins of the past. The premise is captivating; the characters are animated and passionate; the romance is a roller coaster of emotions, betrayal and acceptance.

****ARC provided in exchange for an honest review****

Sweet Southern Betrayal is the third book in The Boys Are Back In Town series but is my first book to read by Robin Covington. I was a bit worried if reading the third book without reading the first two would affect whether I liked the book or not, but was told I didn’t necessarily need to read the book one and two first. I really loved this book and honestly don’t think I would have loved it more if I had read the first two, the characters from both the books appeared in this one and I do plan to go back and read both of those and don’t feel like they are spoiled for me, it’s pretty much a given with them being a romance novel that all the books have a HEA.

”I’m Risa. Risa Clay, and I won’t even pretend that I remember your name”

Risa is a Las Vegas show girl that shows up in Teague Elliott’s bed one morning after a night of drinking to celebrate his sister’s marriage. Teague is an up and coming lawyer who is about to make partner at a very prominent law firm in DC and has political aspirations. So needless to say waking up in a Vegas hotel room with a Vegas show girl after drinking heavily and not remembering a thing, it is not something Teague wants to be doing needless to say should be doing.

”Thank God. No wedding p ic. I think what happened in Vegas is going to stay in Vegas.”

Neither having no memory of their night before, they immediately check their phones to see what evidence was left behind of what they had done, but there was nothing pointing to them being married so all pictures were deleted and back to their lives they went. Although there was just something about Risa that intrigued Teague. But several weeks later Risa shows up in Teague’s home town with a marriage certificate and pictures from their night and it’s does mot take long for word to spread about their nuptials. But there is more to the story that Risa does not tell Teague.

”We were building a business partnership, that’s all/ An alliance with benefits between the sheets”

Risa has agreed to stick around a few days so that Teague can file annulment papers but in the meantime these two, even though they try, just can’t deny the attraction that is going on between them. I And can I say these two are hot and I absolutely loved these two main characters together, and the dynamic the author created between these two. They came from such different backgrounds, but fit so well together. He comes from a family of wealth and status, he is driven to succeed and he has a plan to do so. She was brought up through system, going from home to home and eventually on the streets but has made something of herself, but does not fit so well into his plan.

I really enjoyed the main characters and the storyline, I felt connected with them and the book immediately, having a hard time putting it down, causing late nights and mornings filled with excessive amounts of caffeine. I also love the other characters, I loved that the characters from prior books were there but nothing was given away that would spoil reading those books but I absolutely loved the importance Beck played in the book, I have fallen in love with him and now cannot wait for his story.

Robin Covington has written a really great hot, sexy, funny and sweet romance that I truly enjoyed and so glad I had the chance to get introduced to the author and all that I was unknowingly missing out on. I am definitely looking forward to meeting the other boys from Elliott along the many more men this lady creates, she truly has found a new fan in me.

SWEET SOUTHERN BETRAYAL: STEAMY, CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE WITH OLD-SCHOOL STORY TELLING

DISCLOSURE: purchased by blogger

I loved HIS SOUTHERN TEMPTATION so when I saw this was only ninety-nine cents I ran right over to Amazon and bought it.

What a great story, I was riveted to the pages. Sometimes Robin’s writing is so lovely it just jumps off the page — at the speed I read that means something. Mostly, aside from the really erotic romance between Risa and Teague, this is an “Old-Fashioned” contemporary romance. It’s old-fashioned in the sense that it’s good story telling filled with likeable, well mostly likeable, characters in tough situations, depending on support from friends and family to get through it, even if they don’t want to. Character growth through hard lessons and epiphanies are an important variable in this story.

And, LOVE. The message in this book over and over is that there’s nothing more important than love. It is the brass ring that you reach out for. Having a place to go home to isn’t bad either.

There are a couple of slightly unrealistic things; for example, what seems like a complete lack of political involvement for a guy being groomed for high office. And his hoity toity law firm having a known mobster for client is another.

Risa is fabulous. A homeless teen becoming a dancer on the Las Vegas has to have a lot of poise, but standing up for herself in several situations will put you on her side. She is one smart cookie!

Teague is pretty dense, well the armor around his heart is dense. I loved how Robin shows his father in a much better light than I read in HIS SOUTHERN TEMPTATION. His mother also comes of much less as Mrs. Stick-Up-Her-Butt. Teague’s personal epiphany is related to this repainting of his father’s motivations.

This series takes place in one town, but it feels like a different town in SWEET SOUTHERN BETRAYAL feels different than the town in HIS SOUTHERN TEMPTATION. Reflecting on it I realized it’s not inconsistent voice but, instead, it is seeing the town through the different eyes of the different characters. Even though it is not told in the first person we are seeing the town from different perspectives — Teague’s sophisticated, jaded, want-out-of-here mind set, and Risa’s guilt-ridden, differently jaded, but-this-town-is-a-dream-come-true view. This is pretty sophisticatedly written — more so than I expect from an erotic romance novella (a little lesson in assumption all on its own). Covington writes excellent steamy love scenes!

I thought this paragraph was particularly delightful and yummy!

He kissed her. She knew for a fact that she wasn’t the one to lean closer. She wasn;t the one to meld their bodies together from hip to chest to hot searching mouths. And she wasn’t the one who slid his one hand higher into her hair and the other around her waist until it rested in just the right spot on her lower back to make her press even tighter into the deliciously hard bulge in the front of his running shorts. But she was the onewho opened her lips and welcomed his tongue inside, moaning at the invasion and relishing the taste of him. And she was the one who pushed both hands under his T-shirt to trace the muscled expanse of his abdomen and upward to feel the soft texture of the hair of his chest. (Kindle Edition Location 958)

I read this entire book in about three hours — hours in which I should have been sleeping. If you give it a chance, which I highly recommend, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Sweet Southern Betrayal is the third book in author Robin Covington’s The Boys Are Back in Town Series and oh my, these boys can back into my town any time they’d like! I adored this book!

Successful attorney Teague Elliot has the world in the palm of his hand. He’s just about to land the title of youngest partner in his uber successful Washington D.C. law firm and he couldn’t be happier. Of course, this is just another stepping stone in his plan to enter the world of politics. He’s also managed to keep his nose clean and the skeletons out of his closet his entire life in prep to take The Oval Office one day. This brings us to the present…when he heads to Las Vegas with his friends and ends up in bed with a Vegas showgirl and absolutely no memory of why she’s here. Or what he may have done the night before. Will “what happens in Vegas” actually stay in Vegas? Never has Teague needed it that saying to be more true than right now….
You could say that Risa Clay has taken the lemons life has handed her and made them into lemonade. She didn’t have an easy childhood but has managed to make a pretty good life as a Las Vegas Showgirl and can’t really complain. She certainly can’t complain when she wakes up to a sexy stranger after an unforgettable night. But that’s just what she’d have to do…forget him. Her best friend was in trouble and she had done last night as payment to her boss for borrowing money to help her best friend kick a nasty drug habit. A shame, really, because this sexy stranger was positively delicious and they had an undeniable chemistry. It’s this chemistry that prevents her from doing the last part of the payment for her boss and sends her fleeing Vegas…and showing up on her handsome one-night stand’s doorstep.

So I’ll say it again….these boys can come back to my town any time they’d like. This book started out with a kick and just kept getting better with each chapter. I couldn’t put it down! Teague is straight laced, buckled up and not one to forget his end goal: The White House. He’s worked hard and has dotted every “i” and crossed every “t” knowing full well that he didn’t want to deal with the hassle of a shady past. Well, you know what they say about the best-laid plans. Risa is exactly his opposite, a girl with a messy past and just living in the moment. And this brings me to another saying: opposites attract! Fate has slammed these two together and never before has she gotten it more right. Risa and Teague are so amazing together. The push and pull between them is practically tangible, the chemistry between them palpable. They’ve got quite a mess on their hands and fixing it proves to push them both to the limit, testing all emotions and crossing all sorts of lines. Did I mention I loved this book? Well, I did. A lot. Also, I have to mention that Robin writes some of the most amazing smexy scenes that I’ve ever read….and I’ve read a whole lot of them. There’s just something about her writing that gives her characters a little dash of more and it makes all the difference in adding to the heat factor!

If you haven’t read the other books in the series, no worries, you can totally read this book as a stand-alone. Of course, I absolutely recommend you do, well, if for no other reason than Robin writes some phenomenal characters and you will enjoy each one! Thank you, Robin, for Teague, Risa and another fab story!

3.5 Sweet stars

Teague Elliott is a successful lawyer whose life is going right according to his plan. He is on the partner fast track at his firm in DC with eyes one the White House being his goal line. Nothing could get him sidetracked. Well maybe nothing except a drunken night in Vegas that he doesn't really remember. All he knows is he wakes up next to a gorgeous red head whom he apparently had a great time with. (Several times) They part ways and although he thinks of her he knows she is only a one night indiscretion.

Risa Clay is a girl who only knows how to take care of herself. She has had a rough life which could have made her hard and cold but instead has only made her more determined to make herself better. She felt like she was doing that until she had to borrow some money to help out her best friend and now owes money to her boss, a mobster named Big Tony. This is not the kind of guy you want to cross. She doesn't have the money to pay him back so she has two choices, become his mistress or do a job for him. She chose the job. It was simple enough, find this guy named Teague, drug him, and take some compromising pictures of him. After spending the night with Teague she realizes he is a good guy and she can't go through with hurting him so she double crosses Tony and goes on the run.

They only surprise to both Teague and Risa is they got more out their one night stand then either knew, a marriage. Risa determined to fix her mistake goes to find Teague and get the marriage dissolved. She wants to come clean but just can't do it so she figures after the marriage is taken care of she will just disappear and no one will ever know. What Teague and Risa don't plan on is the connection the two feel with each other and how much the enjoy being around one another. But both know they don't fit in one anothers lives and their time together has an expiration date. They question is can they live without one another and can they change their lives to make each other fit.

Risa has a rough past but she is strong and determined and has a great heart. Even though Teague grew up privileged he is still a great guy and wants to take care of others. The only question Teague must answer is, Is the life he planned the life he wants or should he choose real happiness. These are sweet characters and sweet supporting characters. It is a good afternoon read.

This is the third novel of Ms. Covington's series, The Boys are Back in Town. It is based on four best friends since childhood, returning to their hometown of Elliott, Virginia and how it effects their lives. Both Jackson and Lucky have found love and a family. Beck is a physician, and Teague an attorney with aspirations of politics. He is on the verge of becoming a partner in a prestigious law firm in D.C. the start of his road to the presidency.

A surprising thing happened. I didn't like Teague within the first chapter. He was totally selfish, power hungry and arrogant. He is actually two different men, the lawyer in Elliott picking up the pieces of his Dad's practice, and the attorney in the law firm in D.C. A trip to Las Vegas with the Boys to celebrate Lucky and Taylor's ( Teague's sister) wedding turns his life in a direction he never thought possible.

Risa Clay is a professional dancer and owner of Behind Closed Doors, a shop selling marital aids, and sexy lingerie. She is in debt for a large amount of money to the owner of the casino Antonio Gambetti known as "Big Tony." He wants her to do him a favor. Something completely out of her comfort zone. She is sickened by it, but sees no other choice.

By the second or third chapter Teague was redeeming himself, acting almost like a nice guy! Risa is amazing. Growing up in the foster care system, she is determined to live her life on her own terms. Making some wrong decisions, but trying her best to fix them. One of my favorite quotes from Risa is when she is talking to one of Big Tony's henchman, "Eyes up Frank, last time I looked the girls don't talk."

Ms. Covington's descriptions of the monuments, and Washington, D.C. were breathtaking. I lived in Northern Virginia for many years, and the tour Teague gave Risa of the Jefferson Memorial at night brought back so many wonderful memories. It turns out, Teague is a sweet, misguided, very loving man. He just needed someone to show him he could be.

I highly recommend this novel, the twists and turns, surprises and laughter made this an enjoyable read for me, and turned me into a loyal Teague fan. Beck seems to be the only friend left without a story. Hoping we have his soon!

Teague Elliott has one goal in life….a career in politics. With wealth and ambition fueling his successful career as an attorney, Teague can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The only thing he needs to worry about now is finalizing a partnership with one of the best law firms in DC. Nothing is standing in his way, it’s just a matter of ‘keeping his nose clean’ until he makes partner in the firm.

During a trip to Vegas to let off steam with his friends, Teague awakens to the beautiful Risa in his bed. With only a vague memory of the previous night, Teague cringes to think of what he may have done. Risa sheds a little light on the situation. Explaining they met during one of her performances. Risa is a showgirl on the Vegas strip. Apparently, the two spent a hot night with some pretty memorable sex. Evidence of that could be seen in the room. Despite a barely there memory, Teague feels assured that what happens in Vegas, will stay in Vegas. Or will it??

Teague returns to his hometown in Virginia to wrap up his father’s law practice. The last thing he expected is to run into Risa on his doorstep. To barely know her, Teague is dumb founded by the way his feels flare for the beautiful Risa. However, Risa is there for another reason. Apparently Sin City has a way of sneaking up on you!! Teague’s worst fear comes to light when Risa reveals she and Teague were married while he was in Vegas.

With his future career on the line, Teague finds that forgetting Risa is easier said than done. There is more to his quickie wedding than he could ever imagine. When the truth comes to light, will Teague and Risa go their separate ways? Sometimes love has a way of sneaking up on you, even when it’s the last thing you expect.

This is my first time reading a book by Robin Covington and I am hooked!! I enjoyed the characters in this story. Risa has so many layers to her, and was the perfect match for Teague. The friendships, romance, and story plot in Sweet Southern Betrayal makes readers savor the pages from beginning to end. Of course, I loved that the story referenced so many towns in my area! That was quite a plus! I am hooked on Robin Covington, and see a lot of long night reading with my ‘new’ favorite author!!

One word: Wow!
Robin Covington’s writing is superb and I was panting for more by the time the book was finished. This book had everything you’d want from a romance novel. Sexy, enticing, with just a little bit of dirtiness to make you feel all hot and bothered. With a very sexy male hero that made me weak at the knees and a heroine that was sweet and honest but just kept getting herself in the wrong situation, it had the perfect recipe.
I’m a sucker for a southern gentleman and Teague sure as hell portrays my perfect idea of one. He knows what he wants and works hard to get it, but when life takes a turn and surprises him for the worst, he tries to handle the situation, but he doesn’t get a hold on it. Not surprising, since it’s kind of a big surprise to find out you married a Vegas showgirl on a drunken night out with your buddies.
Risa is a feisty redhead, who not only dances as a showgirl, but also owns a business selling tasteful “marital aids”. Not really the kind of career to have when your new husband wants to President someday. Risa is a very personal character, she’s amazing but her life is a complete mess. She appealed to me on so many levels. She’s a good person and she really goes out of her way to try to make things right. But when the marriage they’ve kept a secret comes out in the open and she starts to fall in love with Teague, everything turns around. Teague doesn’t believe he is capable of loving anyone and I don’t blame him after how his parents’ relationship turned out.
The storyline was perfect, the suspense kept me going and the loves scenes were steamy. I’m struggling to write this review, because I know it won’t do the book any justice, but here I am, trying my best to convey into words how amazing, how fantastic, and how satisfying it was to read it.

When this landed on my Kindle I did an actual whoop of joy. Having loved A Night of Southern Comfort and His Southern Temptation, I have been patiently waiting for the boys to arrive back in town. And this time it's Teague's turn.

A powerful attorney, Teague Elliott is going places. With wealth, ambition and balls of steel, the man is on his way to booking his room in the The White House. When his best friend and baby sis' decamp to Vegas to get married, the boys go with them and after a night of gambling and booze, our oh-so-sexy lawyer finds a beautiful lady in his bed and a phone filled with images of how their night played out. Only one very important photo is missing, the one that could compromise everything he's worked for...

Once again Robin Covington has given us a perfect book that is beautifully written with an enthralling, entertaining and touching story, romance, humour, action, surprises, intimacy, sizzling hot steamy content and fabulous banter between the boys. I have to confess that I didn't warm to Teague straight away. In fact I actually shook my head and tutted in the opening chapter! His cocky arrogance isn't an endearing quality but he and Risa have perfect chemistry; she has secrets but she's stubborn with an admirable strength and determination, isn't afraid to put him in his place and quickly unleashes the protector in him, his inner softie and the real Teague. The Teague that I swooned and sighed over and who has left his buddies for dust when it comes to my affections.

This books deserves every single star. If you haven't read the first two books in the series go read them now because not only are you missing a treat, but the characters all continue to feature heavily. And after being handed a few teasers as to Beck's background and personality, I can't wait for his book.

William “Teague” Elliot IV has ambitious future plans including a change of address - the new address is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. He is a couple of weeks away from becoming a partner in the prestigious Harrison and Duff law firm; a pivotal phase in his future political career. With his future on target, he is ready to head to Vegas to celebrate the wedding of his little sister to his best friend. However, he may have jinxed himself with an off-handed comment to his boss, “I promise you I will not marry a stripper.”

Larisa “Risa” Ellen Clay has had to overcome a lot in her life from being a homeless teenager to successful business owner. However, she gets in over her head when she borrows money she cannot pay back. With only two options (1) sleep with a sleazy mob boss or (2) ruin the life of a gorgeous, charming, and sexy stranger but Risa has always done what was necessary to survive.

The author created moments that are heartfelt and emotional using incredible dialogue.
“A man who’d treated her like a queen, who’d danced with her, laughed with her, and then marched right out of her favorite romance novels and made love to her all night long.”

The most impressive part of this story was how the author handled the betrayal of the hero. Desperate to save her friend she is blackmailed in exchange for having her debts absolved. Therefore, she is not malicious, just desperate. As a reader, I am more accepting of a character’s redemption if there is a clear motivation for the betrayal.

Wow--this was another don't-want-to-put-it-down read. Thank goodness for the Polar Vortex and blizzards; because of them I didn't have to!

The chemistry between Teague and Risa is absolutely undeniable--Robin Covington wrote some really smoking scenes for them. I was rooting for them from the beginning--all the secrets and things they kept hidden from each other for much of the novel were nerve-racking (but of course made for excellent plot, darn it).

My biggest concern was how they would manage to put Risa's betrayal in the past and move on, but fortunately Robin handled this well. It definitely helped that Risa had definite reasons for what she did--and that Teague was in a position to understand her reasons objectively.

Plus, it didn't hurt that he was crazy about her. ;)

Some of the finer points of the Las Vegas/mobster plot sailed neatly right over my head--but I'm pretty sure that's just because I was reading very quickly so as to get to the HEA. I loved Risa's business (and how it took over their wedding "reception"; that part was just too funny) and her determination to stand up for herself no matter what.

(Teague's not too bad either. Especially if you picture Jensen Ackles while you're reading...)

This is the third book in the series. I have yet to read the first two books, though they're in my TBR. Sweet Southern Betrayal can be read as a standalone--but of course now I am *dying* to read the first two. It's my goal to accomplish that before Beck's story comes out, at least!

This was just a great read from start to finish. I cannot wait to get to the other books in the series.

A- rating; 4 1/2 stars.
